Clay contemplates the situation briefly. The only Pokémon on the field that he's not immediately familiar with are Laurel's big round whale and the dog that replaced Aislinn's Sandile, but the whale is clearly Water-type... and he doesn't have Kaa with him today, more's the pity. It looks like Holly's on Laurel, Ashley and Aislinn are focusing on each other and their respective Pokémon (and Aislinn's tactics look rather like Tiki's... he's gotta learn that quick-switch trick sometime). Rei's got Shinpuru out but hasn't made a move yet. He waves a gesture of acknowledgement in the fearsome Bidoof's direction.
That whale is bugging him, if only because they're eventually going to have to deal with Honedge and a lot of his team still isn't fond of water. The whale looks like it's gonna be tough... after a moment's thought, he hurls an Apricorn Ball right into the melee, releasing Baloo just in front of the whale. He growls out an order in bear-ish, directing the Pancham's attack with Clay sending spiritual feedback his way. Baloo charges right through the fight, slashing at the Wailmer and its trainer behind it with his claws as he passes.

Laurel and Zbić are hurt, with Laurel looking the worse for wear after both Holly and Baloo struck her. She manages to stay on her feet and issue commands to the large whale, which proceeds to bounce up over her head to land behind her, flanking Baloo. It blasts water into the bear's face.
Splash! +2 Evasion for 1 full round. Zbić uses Splash to jump over to its new position.

Aislinn's Houndour howls to raise its spirit, but then immediately swaps out!

1 AP - Tag In: New Pokemon sent in is treated as if the recalled Pokemon had used Baton Pass.
This time, it's replaced by an Umbreon. Finally, something Clay recognizes! Aislinn binds Sneak Attack and bats her eyelashes at Magmar.

Holly flourishes as well, but it's a different type of flourish than Honedge's. After, she vanishes from the field, leaving Honedge floating there.

It looks like Ashley and Aislinn have sort of a deadlock going. Clay knows better than to bust in on that, at least for now. Time to come to his Pokémon's defense instead. He rushes forward, darting in nimbly between Aislinn and Laurel to launch a flurry of blows against the whale's blubbery hide.

Baloo gives a high-pitched growl that leaves no doubt he is displeased, even if the Wailmer's attack hurt a lot more than Laurel's knife. In fact, he turns to help Clay with the whale, pointedly ignoring the girl in favor of an overhand strike intended to show Clay how you deal with a big round opponent. Though he does take a step away from her just on general principles.

Rei continues to bolster her defense as she waits for an opportunity. However, Shinpuru isn't that patient. He looks and sees a chance to do some REAL damage. Rei's friend Clay knew how to talk his language, and seemed to respect him in some sort of way, but always seem eager for a challenge. Time to give it to him. And the two other humans next to him! Shinpuru rushes over in front of Holly, and launches THROUGH Laurel, Clay, and Aislinn with wet slaps from his tail! Rei (On her earlier init) uses Purity step to raise her special defense two stages.

Umbreon's head snaps around as it sees the bidoof go zooming past. How dare that beaver strike its Mistress?! Now it must die! It lunges at Shinpuru, fangs flashing.

With the Dark Branchers being focused down, Ashley doubles down on that tactic as well. She and Blaze rush Laurel and Aislinn's Umbreon while they're open. Ashley issues Brutal Orders with Commander's Voice.

Clay winces when he catches the blowback from Blaze's attack, but frankly that's less trouble than he expected when he realized he was standing in between Ashley and Aislinn.
"Hey, watch it with the "filthy creature" stuff. Shinpuru's gotten me out of a jam a couple times." Clay turns a cocky grin Aislinn's way. "Maybe people'd like the Dark Branch more..." He sweeps his staff down low, trying to trip her up. "... If you respected your opponents!"
Clay used Low Sweep on Aislinn!

Baloo, meanwhile, finds himself somewhat isolated and confronted with a surfeit of familiar opponents. Clay barks out to him to ignore Honedge - which he's pretty sure Baloo has no way of actually affecting - and go for Rei, with a mental apology of his own to his still-healing friend. So Baloo skirts the reach of the swordlike spirit's blade in favor of chopping at the height of Rei's knees with the side of his paw.

While Rei seems to now be pinned by two creatures (Although they don't really seem to be able to hurt her much), Shinpuru is all sorts of confused and disoriented. Without being able to see, the death doof strikes out in the general direction of where the umbreon used to be! Blind Headbutt vs Umbreon!

Rei is bit by the pokemon and it hurts. A LOT. Rei goes into a mild panic, this being the first major damage she's taken since her block move that put her on the shelf in the first place, and spins around in an attempt to dazzle both nearby targets. Rei uses Purity step again, this time using Power Pirouette to confuse all adjacent targets (Baloo and Los) |
