As the illusion came to an end, Ferren found himself surrounded by angry people. He wasn't paying close enough attention to where their loyalties lay. No, he threw out a few kicks here and there when people got too close, but his attention was on finding his way to any sort of boat out of town. Sad it didn't work out getting with that crew, they showed promise, but now he was back on his own.
After a few minutes of trying to find his way back to the docks, he noticed a large crowd forming a circle. Walking up, he pushed his way through, finding a pile of unconscious Marines the topmost one having a large burn on his face "OI!" He called out loudly "Anyone know who did this?" He stood taller then most of the crowd. a few of them jumping at his voice
One of the meeker ones finally managed the courage to step forward "Err, I'm not really sure WHO did it, but I saw someone walking away after hitting the last guy. He was heading towards the docks. Had a bandana on and a knife"
Without waiting for conformation, Ferren turned in the direction the man specified and began walking at a quick pace. Whoever could do this to a group of marines is the kind of person he needed to work with right about now. If they didnt have their own ship, well with his own firepower to back them up, it shouldnt be too hard to take a ship, right?
As he came upon the docks, it was time to find out. He noticed a man fitting the description he had been given. Loudly clearing his throat, he called out "So, are you the one who took out that pile of Marines a few blocks back?"

The young man was standing between two tall piles of crates and looked over his shoulder, pointing up at himself with a somewhat blank look on his face. "Who, me?," he asked, looking around. "Oh, yeah, that was me," he said. There was a sound of oncoming footsteps from and Marine battle cries. "Hold on, one second!," he said, turning back to the alley between the crates. His body began to shift, changing color to a light orange, a tail sprouting from the base of his spine. When it reached its full length, a flame burst into life at the tip, illuminating the area.
"Let's mix it up a little bit this time," the young man said jovially to the oncoming Marine. "Thunder-Flame...Hammer!," he shouted, stepping up and throwing a strong left punch. There was an explosion of yellow light, the crackling of electricity, and a clap of thunder, and an agonized groan, along with the sound of a body clattering to the deck.
With the Marine dealt with, the young man took a deep breath, shifting back into a more human form. He exhaled happily with a little "Whoo," clapping his hands together, a job well done. He turned back around, facing the man who'd shouted at him. "Sorry about that, I didn't think that guy would wait if I asked," he said with a smile, pointing over his shoulder with his thumb. "Yeah, I beat up those guys back there. Why? You wanna go too? You don't look like a Marine," he said happily. There was no threat of force in his voice whatsoever. "I don't mind if you want to have a go, but I'm kinda busy right now, trying to get outta town while the getting's good. You mind if I take a rain check?," he asked.

While Saiko is talking to Ferren, three marines advance silently down a nearby alley. weapons drawn, intending to take the two by surprise. It probably wouldn't help, but they don't know that.
Unfortunately for them, three gunshots ring out in rapid succession and they all come down with a sudden case of bullet-in-the-head. All three are dead before the first one hits the ground.
"Mr Ferren!" Lonnie cries out, waving with one hands as he puts his rifle on his back with the other. "Mr Ferren, sir!" He bounds up to the larger man before he starts talking rapidly and breathlessly. "Wow, I sure am happy I found you, I mean, I was with everyone else and we were going to get a ship but then there was this weird smoke and everything went weird and I think I saw like a ghost girl or something but I couldn't see clearly because of the smoke and then I was back in the street but I heard you and saw some people that were beat up so I followed you and there were these guys but I shot them and..." He pauses as he finally notices Saiko. "Hi there! Wow, you're really big!" He turns back to Ferren. "So what do we do now?"

Ferren laughed a bit at Saiko when he offered a rain check for a fight, taking a moment to light up a cigarette, he shook his head "Actually, I'm looking to get out of here, same as you. Figured that someone able to take out that many Marines might make a strong ally out on the seas."
Moments later, the three marines dropped and Ferren turned to Lonnie as he came up, the older man quickly putting out he cigarette "Good Arceus Lonnie, you startled me a bit! Good shot though" He says, turning to the bodies "Though maybe work on aiming for less vital spots, knock em out of the fight instead of killing em"
"Anyways, I'm just asking this guy how he would feel about teaming up and getting the hell out of-" Ferren is interrupted by a plank of wood coming down inches from his head, swung by an angry Marine right behind him. Without hesitation, he turned around and sucker punched the guy in the throat, before kicking his legs out from under him "-this place, before it turns even worse"
Looking back at Saiko, Ferren holds out a hand "Regal Ferren, Nice to meet you. And the little one is Lonnie"

Saiko didn't jump at the gunshots, but instead looked behind him as the gunshots rang through the air, seeing the bodies hit the floor. "Hey, nice shots," he said in a neutral, mildly impressed tone. He turned back to the pair, cleaning his fingernails with his knife. "So you don't want to fight me...hmm...," he said, as if seriously considering that statement. As he was thinking it over, a Marine rushed him from the side. Saiko deftly grabbed the Marine by the belt and collar, hefted him over his head, and threw him off the pier. The Marine fell into the water with a scream and a splash. "Well, alright. I guess we can team up...but only on one condition," he said seriously, as if his train of thought had remained uninterrupted, extending his arm towards Ferren and Lonnie, index finger held up. "I get to drive the ship. That's all," he said in a deadpan serious tone. He didn't wait for a response. "There. Now that we have that settled, let's bust outta here!," he said happily, shaking Ferren's hand. "I'm Alders Saiko, by the way, and I'm gonna be the World's Greatest Helmsman," he said happily, still shaking Ferren's hand. He had a really strong grip. "You can call me Saiko, or Sai. Some people call me 'Crazy'," he said with a wide smile, still shaking Ferren's hand. His grip was like iron. "I really don't mind what you call me, so long as you don't call me late for dinner," he said, chuckling at his own joke. Finally, he stopped shaking Ferren's hand. "Nice to meet you too, Lonnie," he said, offering his hand to shake Lonnie's, a big smile on his face.

Lonnie returns the smile, grabbing Saiko's hand with both of his and vigorously shaking. If he's bothered by the strength of Saiko's grip, he doesn't show it.
"Nice to meet you too, Mr Saiko. And I'm fine with you driving the ship if Mr Ferren is. Leaves my hands free to shoot things!"
Releasing his hand, Lonnie kick up a small stone from the ground and catches it in his hand. He looks to the side at another marine coming up along the docks, takes a moment to calculate the shot, then throws the stone right into their eye, knocking them off-balance and into the water.
Lonnie beams as he turns back to the others, proud at having done as Ferren as asked and taken him down non-lethally. Probably won't even lose an eye! I'm helping!
He looks around, both at the docks around him and the many marines trying and failing to get their attention. "So, which boat should we take?"

Ferren smiles as Lonnie listens, hitting the Marine with a rock instead of a bullet, though he frowns a bit as the man falls in the water. "I don't see a problem with manning the helm. I don't have much experience with it myself. Spent most of my time on ships keeping everything else in running order."
He points to a small Cutter "That thing should get us out of here pretty quick, and between the three of us, we should be able to man her just fine"
As he leads the small crew towards the boat, a pair of Marines heads towards him. He closes his eyes before his hair lightens and his hands turn to talons, the rain turning to steam off of him as his right hand begins to absorb the light around it, eventually being darker then the sky "Out of the way" He says coldly, before dashing past them "Darkness Talon!" the lack of light, left a streak in the air for a moment, directly through both of the Marines, who fall to the ground as Ferren keeps moving.

"Mister?," Saiko repeated with a mixture of surprise and amusement. "I don't look that old...do I?," he asked, looking at himself. As he shook hands with Lonnie, his grip was firm, but far gentler than it had been with Ferren.
He looked discerningly at the cutter. "Hmm...it's a little small...but I guess it'll work for now," he said, walking towards it. "At least until we can find something better. And bigger."
As he did, yet another marine saw fit to try and get in his way, leaping at him with his sword raised. Saiko saw the man and quickly transformed into his lizard-like form, his reptilian features drawn tight in a predatory grin, his vertical pupils alight with inner fire, and the flame at the tip of his tail sparking to life. A ball of flame formed around his right hand as he drew it back.
"Alright, then," he said with a smile. "Flame-flame...Hammer!," he said, throwing a mean right hook, catching the leaping marine dead-on in the face. The flames around his hand exploded on impact, propelling the Marine backwards, to collide with an on-rushing group of his compatriots, bowling them over.
Saiko smiled at his handiwork with a satisfied little "Heh-heh," and found himself standing next to the mooring line. He reached down to grab it--after all, it would need to be untied--and could feel the ropes singing and shouldering in his palm. He blinked at the rope for a moment before grinning, and focusing another ball of flame around his hand. Just like that, the rope burned clean through, and the ship was free.
"Alright! All aboard!," he said, leaping onto the vessel and landing near the helm. He went to grab the wooden steering wheel but hesitated at the last second. Wood burns too, just like rope, so he relaxed and shifted back to normal before grabbing the wheel and testing how responsive the rudder was.
"Everything looks good! Let's set sa-wait," he said, suddenly serious. "Hold on. I'll be right back," He said, walking back to the side of the ship and leaping up onto the pier. Without another word he took off into the city at a full sprint.
From your vantage point on the docks, you could see the occasional reddish-orange explosion of flames and yellow, crackling balls of lightning popping up in the city, illuminating the faces of distant buildings, and ever-accompanied by a chorus of agonized groans. Perhaps two minutes later, Saiko turned a corner, sprinting back toward the ship. He had a long, blue and white surfboard under one arm, a massive, ear-to-ear grin on his face, and a large group of Marines on his tail.
"I almost forgot my surfboard!," he shouted to Ferren and Lonnie, not breaking stride. "I had to go get it-I couldn't leave without it!" As he explained himself, his grin seemed to widen, as if that was even possible. Reaching the end of the pier, he leapt back onto the ship, leaving the small cutter bobbing and rocking on impact.
"Alright, now let's set sail!," he said excitedly, grinning at Lonnie and Ferren.
