Chris scoops up the tiny little plant, and it burrows against him, trying to hide from the storm in his wings as he hurries into the tree. .... Wait. Wings? In a moment of panic, it seems Chris had changed to his Moltres form, which was not reassuring to the oddishes gathered in the tree. A cry goes up from one of them, and in mere moments a group of three pidgeys arrive, landing on the ground in front of the tree. One look at the scene and they begin kicking the dirt, aiming to extinguish the fire that the thing in front of them seems to be generating!
Sand Attacks. Ac 2, if any hit, blinded for one round. qpV9F1Q63d20
Moria's time reading horoscopes does not help her identify this pokemon, but she does pick up a few hints anyway. The storm seemed to be following the bird, so it was likely the cause and nucleus of the storm, which probably made it an electric type. Such a spiky bird must surely have been seen before, so maybe notes of it existed elsewhere, perhaps in a library? Beyond that, she can't tell anything for sure.
The trio begin their movement again, following what appears to be Chris's path. It's fairly simple, as there's only one main path, but suddenly from up ahead you head a loud, keening noise, then the rustle of feathers as what appear to be a massive amount of birds all head towards it!3d20

As Callix travels down the path, Moria speculates about the electric, spiky bird. Where did she come from? Why was she here? How did she transform into a human? Was she even human? Is she like us, or something else entirely? These questions and more run through her head, but no answers come to mind.
The sudden sound of rustling feathers startles Moria out of her thoughts. She looks up and sees the massive flock of birds flying down the path. "I have a bad feeling about this. We should hurry and find Chris before he gets in trouble."

Chris lets out an involuntary chirp as he realizes what had happened. But before he even got a chance to do anything, he was being attacked! Sand was everywhere and he couldn't see and of course his first instinct was to protect the oddish he was holding so he covered it with his... wing? Hand? How did this even work?! WAIT HE WAS ON FIRE! Chris started panicking. What if the oddish was being hurt right now?! He couldn't even see!
Rushing as much as possible, he tried to bend over and set the oddish on the ground before trying to rub the sand out of his eyes and spitting it out of this mouth... beak?

Hearing the keening of birds and the rustling of feathers, Callix picks up his speed as much as he can, intending to get into the center of the commotion as quickly as possible. Whatever was happening, it needed to be stopped. If she was still around, any commotion could draw her attention to them, and that would be disastrous.

The pidgeys abruptly stop, realizing that the dirt they were throwing wasn't containing the situation. Mostly because there was no situation to contain. Chris notices that while his flames produce warmth, they are not hungry like most fire. They will not depart his body nor try to feed on his surroundings unless specifically ordered to. The pidgeys nod, roosting nearby in case they were needed later, but content that their help was not required for this particular instance. The oddish Chris had dropped promptly leapt up, trying to wiggle back into his wings, comfortable there. Once the other oddishes realize there is no danger (Though that takes a minute...), they all quickly huddle around Chris, nearly burying him in a pile of tiny, grassy bodies trying to warm up during the intense storm.
[Chris can shift to and from his Moltres form at any time now.]
As the trio arrive on the scene, everything has calmed down. Three pidgeys are roosted nearby, two of them snuggling together either for warmth or as a gesture of affection. Inside of a large, hollow tree is a flickering light, surrounded by tiny blue bodies with green hair-leaf things. The source of the light appears to be your missing Moltres friend, back in his bird form.

Moria leaps off Calix's back, dragging her bag behind her as she approaches Chris. "Chris, are you alright?" She notices the leafy Pokemon snuggled up to Chris' fiery wings. "And what are these little guys?" She thinks about it for a moment before sighing. "We should find some shelter soon. I don't think we can all fit inside the tree. Well..." She looks at the tree again. "Maybe...."Moria Delienza made a Pokémon Ed Check! (DC:6) | hQBiwvnT2d6 |

Chris lifts his head up and looks at everyone outside. "I uh... transformed again. On accident. Who... who screamed like that?" He snuggled himself down into the oddish some more, along with his skiddo. "They're oddish... I had to move them out of the garden at home, they like to bury themselves in the tomatoes. They aren't... handling the storm great." At least Chris seems to have calmed down a bit. Maybe it was taking care of something that did that. "There's plenty of room in here! At least... if Callix changes back. I can even... keep us all warm."

Callix blinks a few times and shifts back to human form, energy crackling as he does so. He throws his wrench over his shoulder and looks at the others skeptically. "If we stay here tonight, we lose the best chance we have on getting some information out of Team Bond. We have the name of one of the people who worked at this lab, and we know he's in the city tonight on a date. We need to get to him before he learns of the destruction of the lab, otherwise he might hide and run out of our grasp. I don't think we should let that opportunity go to waste."

Moria looks from Chris to Callix. "I nearly forgot about that." She pulls at her unfamiliar hair with an uncertain expression on her face. "I don't think that's the best idea, Callix. All we know is that guy is having a date... where, exactly? And thinking back, I can't even recall the path the truck took to get to the lab. On top of that, this forest could be pretty dangerous at night." She shakes her head. "I think we should wait out the storm here; leaving now would be foolish."Here's a Poke Edu roll with 1 AP spent for a +2 as per Instictive Apptitude: Moria Delienza made a Pokémon Ed Check! | SzHv0kaJ2d6+2 |

"Do we even know what time it is? How do we know this date hasn't already passed huh?" Chris says, kind of pouting. He really didn't want to go out in the storm and his natural protective instincts were screaming at him to stay and protect the oddishes. Besides... they were probably gonna have to intimidate the guy to get anything out of him and that wasn't really... Chris' deal. "We can just go to the Bond office in the city tomorrow! They should be able to get a hold of him for us right? Or like, just tell us what's going on?" It was probably very strange to hear this meek voice coming from an enormous flaming bird from the outside.

Callix snorts a little and rolls his eyes, reaching to his waist and releasing Kai from his pokeball. The Croagunk blinks up at Callix for a moment before immediately hugging his leg, and Callix reaches down and give him a little pat before speaking over his shoulder. "Fine, we can stay here for the night. I'm going to have a little run around though." He gives a shrug of his shoulders, and as he does so his body shifts back into the form of Raikou. He inclines his head to Kai, and the somewhat confused frog hops on his back, and then he sprints off, running the trail between the destroyed lab and the tree back and forth, lost in thought. Assuming nothing happens, he would eventually return to the tree a few hours later, curling up on the ground outside and getting some rest for himself.

The storm raged on through the night, and no encounters of note occur. The oddishes stay in the tree, acting almost as a blanket for the group of wanderers as the night begins to cool and they drift into a dreamless sleep. The morning comes quickly enough, dawn peeking through the trees and alighting on the faces of our three adventurers... Or it would, if there weren't a large shadow blocking the way out.
The first thing the trio would notice is that the oddishes had vacated themselves at some point during the night, save the one that was snuggled in Chris's wings. The second thing they would likely notice as their brains stirred themselves awake is that Vivian appears to have gathered herself and left the group behind at some point during the night. No note or anything, how peculiar, but there were no signs of a struggle or screaming so this was PROBABLY intentional? The third thing the group would notice, as their brains kicked into overdrive, would be two eerily blue eyes staring at them from the opening in the tree, a hulking red figure and head attached to them, as if sizing them up. After a moment, it opens its mouth and a loud warbling escapes from it. It's too bad none of you learned to speak bird or you might know what it's saying.
You may roll any education skill to try to identify the creature in front of you.

As the sun rises, Moria wakes up in a daze. She gradually sits up from her slouched position against the inner walls of the trunk. After a few moments of confusion, everything from last night comes back to her.
"Good morning," she says as she wearily rubs the sleep from her eyes. "I'm going to do some stretches outside for a bit."
Moria goes to leave the trunk, stumbling along the way, when her now very alert eyes meet the gaze of a hulking red bird. Surprised, she tumbles back onto the two humans-turned-legend behind her.

Chris would wake up quietly, trying not to wake up anyone else. It was nice to just lay there and try not to think about everything. It was like right after he'd lost the farm... Being able to sleep warm and full of food for a little while anyway. Stretching gently, he'd take stock of everyone. Francine, the oddish, and... two people from yesterday, where was the third? Probably ran off... She was acting strange yesterday after they left the lab. It was when he looked up out of the log that his slow morning took a start. Partly cause Moria landed on his wing and partly because there was a massive, truly massive pokemon staring at him.
Moving very slowly, Chris stood himself up on his birdy legs and nudged Callix with the wing that he had covered the stubborn guy with. "Be, very quiet. Move slowly, and let's move out of its way. We're... sitting in its nest. I think." Pokemon husbandry classes don't fail me now. "I think it's more curious than mad. And probably nocturnal if it's just coming in now."

Callix's eyes snap open, red orbs darting left and right, scanning the situation, picking up details as he rose to his feet. Giant size, intelligent eyes, body toned and corded with thick muscle, and most interestingly, a red scarf around its eyes. However, there was another layer that he was picking up, not with his eyes, but with... something else. There was death in the air around it, hanging, emanating from it. This was no simple bird, and it took all he had to not call Chris an idiot for acting like it was a more common pokemon. However, Callix wasn't the type to stare death in the eyes and be intimidated. Besides, there was no hostility in the situation, at least not currently. Best to direct the path away from that direction. He steps a bit further away from Chris to save him a bit of a potential shock, and there's the crackling cascade of blue and yellow sparks as him form twisted and reshaped into his more natural one. Kai, seeing his owner back in his normal form hops over and snuggles against his leg, blinking up at the massive creature in front of them. "Apologies, but we all lack the capability to speak pokemon; not our first language, you see. I like the scarf, it suits you. I can appreciate a good accessory, really pulls together a look, don't you think?" The wrench makes a slight metal noises as he moves it back and forth on his shoulders, and he breaks into a wide grin. Life was fun, wasn't it? Charm~ With some added AP spending. KJUJSNur3d6+13d6+1

The large bird nods, clearing its throat and beginning to make noise again. This time, you understand exactly what it is saying, as it is speaking English! "Ah, I was wondering why you didn't understand the language of birds, cousin. You suffer an ill fate, the three of you. I will start again. I was asking if you slept well in my basement. I offer this space to those who are weak or weary, like the group of oddishes that left an hour ago with the other one." The bird, which has a rich baritone voice, almost melodic in his speech, takes a step to the side to let the sunlight in. "Please, step outside so we may talk more comfortably. You humans prefer to call me Yveltal, though I've had many names through my Cycle." As he peers at the three of you, you almost feel as though your souls are on display, and every wrongdoing you've ever done is on display, being judged by the ancient eyes of the large bird pokemon who's home you borrowed for the night. It is still fairly early in the morning, around seven or eight if you had to guess. Birds are singing nearby, and if you look towards the ground you can see oddishes scurrying by every now and again. The forest does not seem bothered by your presence here.

Moria stands up, slightly embarrassed from her backward tumble. Usually, she wouldn't lose her footing so easily, but she still wasn't quite used to her pointed feet. "We slept well; your basement is very comfortable." She follows Yveltal outside the trunk.
After a moment of thought, Moria asks, "I can't help but notice that you mentioned something just a moment ago. What is the 'Cycle'?"

Callix nods and exits the trunk, Croagunk still clinging to his leg, not letting go even as he walks. He seems to not even notice it, as if this has happened many times before. He leans against the outside of the tree, allowing the others to speak for now. He wanted to see where this was going to go. The soul piercing stare somewhat disturbed him, but he shook it off as best he could. He generally tried to avoid the stares of legends, but he supposed his luck had come to an end. Lucky that this one seemed sympathetic.

Chris feels suddenly way more guilty for the candy bar he'd shoplifted when he was 9. He'd gone back and paid for it after the guilt had gotten the better of him then, but he still felt super guilty for it. He hoped Yveltal didn't think him a terrible person for it. With a bit of awkward adjusting, he stepped out of the log, resisting the urge to wake the oddish by stretching. "I uh... sorry if we kept someone else out... last night was... traumatic, to say the least." Chris bends forward to bow before who he recognizes as a god and makes the mistake of forgetting he now had a beak, managing to wedge it into the ground.

The old bird chuckles, shaking his shaggy head as he slowly shrinks, assuming a more human form in order to converse a little more easily. He wore a tattered grey jacket, a grey beanie over a mess of matted hair, and a pair of torn jeans, from wear and tear. Time has not been kind to his human form, his face weary and wearing a scraggly, unmanaged stubble, but in his eyes burns a fierce fire of one who has not given up. He looks to you all, smiling gently.
"I'm glad the night was kind to you. A Cycle is the time it takes a legendary pokemon to reincarnate. At this time, they turn into their eggs in a secret location and wait to hatch again, newborn and fresh. It's a little complicated, and appears to not apply to the three of you. Something has broken the cycle and infused you three with the energy of the legendaries that have vanished recently..." He shakes his head, sadly. "No wonder those two were so upset... I, sadly, have my own job to attend to, and am not really supposed to interfere at any point... But I can offer some advice and answer questions, if you'd like. Do not worry cousin." He says, turning his gaze to Chris. "Usually only the Oddish dare come near my home, for they are aware of my truer nature. Everything else sees only the Deathly aura I radiate. And as for you..." He fixes an eye on Callix, appraising him and then nodding solemnly. "I fear the road for you, at least, will be more difficult than most. You have not only this new development to deal with, but you also bear the sins of your father. Truly a lamentable fate. However..." He lays a hand on Chris's wing and Callix's shoulder. "I believe in you three, and the power of humanity. I believe you can accomplish what I cannot." He takes a few steps back, producing a blanket from a backpack near the base of the tree and setting out a small picnic basket. "Can I interest you in some breakfast before you depart?"
