Welcome to the Lost OOC Chat!
Welcome, accepted players! If you have not yet, you will shortly be added to an OOC skype group for this game as well. That chat is for real time discussion, strategy, simple questions, checks, poking each other for posts and the like. Please use this thread to ask questions that are important enough that we want a textual reference for them, as well as note any character changes or designs, etc. In addition, before we begin, please answer the following questions for me: - What is your experience with PBP?
- What is your experience with PTU?
- Describe yourself as a player. Do you tend to break things? Go roleplay heavy? Do things for comedy?
- What is your time zone?
- Describe yourself as a person. When you're not playing PTU, what are you doing? What's your job, hobbies, etc?
- What's your favorite pokemon?
- What's your favorite type?
- What are you expecting to get out of this game?
- What requests do you have in regards to this game (Character requests, item requests, event requests, etc)
- How do you feel about fakemon? Are there any you would like to see at some point?
- Are there any rule alterations or other considerations you'd like us to discuss before we begin?
- Were there any other applications to this game that, should we need another player for any reason, you think would be particularly good or fun to play with? Why?
Notes regarding the game:
I would like to set a few group rules for this game, while we're setting up. To begin with, /please/ make a point of communicating with everyone else. Post here, chat in the skype, etc. We're in this for the long haul, and people who get along tend to have more fun playing games together. In addition, make sure to utilize the skype--an actual ooc skype chat tends to keep PBPs a lot more lively.
As a reminder, I'm looking to see around 1 post every 2 days at minimum, and I will attempt to do the same. Obviously, if you post more often, though, we can move the game long faster and get more done, so I'd strongly suggest doing more than the minimum. I will personally be online more often in the evenings EST and the weekends--so these are good times to have a post in if you want a response by, or to be online posting if you want quicker responses.
My request for communication also applies to any problems or concerns you're having with the game. Please don't PM each other and rant about a third player, or about something I've done, and simmer in frustration. If you're concerned about something, or you think someone else is being unfair, or you disagree with a choice that's made, etc, /please/ speak up. You can PM me first, if you're worried about offending or hurting anyone's feelings and it's another player, and I can bring it up myself in the group chat and try and find a resolution. Resentment and displeasure with a game that goes unaddressed will likely result in a dead game--and I'd really like this game to succeed for a good long time.
When it comes to posts, in battle and out, post whenever you're online and capable. Before a battle, post the initiatives of your mon and yourself, of course, but please don't wait to post until you're in init order, as this makes combat last /forever/. If you need to, you can make an If statement in your posts, such as "If Nico's ball captures X, his pokemon will use yawn on Y! If it doesn't capture X, his pokemon will use yawn on X!" Don't give me a full flowchart, here, but simple binary responses are okay if what you're going to do is heavily dependent on results of someone else's actions. In addition, if you attack a mon that faints before you would target it, is captured, etc, and you don't include a contingent action, I will either count it as a miss or redirect the damage to another enemy as appropriate.
This should be obvious, but when making rolls, /label them/. I won't accept rolls that aren't labelled or called before they're made.
In terms of character development, it's my personal preference that characters not grow to be too overlapping in terms of classes. I likely picked characters with this preference in mind. Therefore, I'd appreciate it if, as characters develop, we limit overlapping classes. I'm not putting a hard rule on that, since characters will develop how they will, but keep it in mind~

Hi all! Psyched to be playing with the lot of you. What is your experience with PBP?Lots. I've been running my own PBP boards since I was 13 (freeform roleplay), and within the last 4 years that has shifted to using systems in PBP (D&D 3.5, 5e, PTA, and PTU). What is your experience with PTU?Been playing it pretty much since release, which is why I seem to mess up mechanics from different versions now and then. Describe yourself as a player. Do you tend to break things? Go roleplay heavy? Do things for comedy?I definitely go roleplay heavy. I haven't got much of a sense of powerplaying and I'm always working on improving my sense of dialogue. Which should be really fun, given that my character is Sokka (the meat and sarcasm guy!). What is your time zone? From now until Jan 31st, GMT. From Feb 1st-April 24th (probably), GMT-4. And then likely back to GMT unless disaster strikes. Describe yourself as a person. When you're not playing PTU, what are you doing? What's your job, hobbies, etc?23 years old and can never stay in one place for very long. I've worked as a security guard and an au pair in the past, but right now I'm on a bit of a study break to increase my portfolio before applying to masters' programs. My spare time is 30% writing, 20% art, 15% reading, 10% video games, 10% watching Twitch streams or Netflix, 10% daydreaming, and 5% eating. Somehow my boyfriend has managed to find time in there as well. And Reddit is forever my go-to procrastination website. What's your favorite pokemon?Arcanine. Closely followed by Absol, closely followed by Leafeon and/or Golett. What's your favorite type?Dark type! I was the Dark Type Elite Four member of my university. And Absol wasn't actually on my team. ;__;What are you expecting to get out of this game?Complete and utter shenanigans. Excellent roleplay and contrasts between our very different, very unusual characters. Overall I just want to have fun playing a character I've loved for a long time in a universe that I've grown up being amazed by. What requests do you have in regards to this game (Character requests, item requests, event requests, etc)....Uuuhhh..... well at this point my only real concern is about starving so I really really hope that isn't what will end up killing me, if anything! Also, I'm really looking forward to starting a community and seeing where that takes us. I do want a cooking set, somehow. Somehow. Even if he has to go all smith-like and make his own... How do you feel about fakemon? Are there any you would like to see at some point?I've never played a campaign with fakemon before, so I'm a bit nervous, but also excited. I'm ready to try anything. Are there any rule alterations or other considerations you'd like us to discuss before we begin? Please use the rules for Herbal restoratives in the playtest packet rather than the Repulsive stuff from the Core book? D: I mean, it might not be that big of a deal, but I hate the Repulsive mechanic with a passion... Were there any other applications to this game that, should we need another player for any reason, you think would be particularly good or fun to play with? Why?Without going back and looking through them, I know I was really interested in the Luna Lovegood application. I think she'd be a hilariously fun character to interact with (especially for Mr. Sexist over here) if someone were to drop out. Also, Wile E. Coyote would be a complete laugh! Most of the other characters I simply didn't know well enough to give thumbs up or down to!

What is your experience with PBP? I believe my last experience being involved with PbP was... 12 years ago? Regardless, that was free-form, and I was 9 at the time, so let's just leave it at minimal.
What is your experience with PTU? I've been GMing a RT game of PTU for about a year now, with no breaks longer than two weeks. I also GMed a brief campaign on IRC. On the player side, I'm in two RT games, one for about ten months and the other, seven months. Describe yourself as a player. Do you tend to break things? Go roleplay heavy? Do things for comedy? While I've never been good at putting my feelings about myself into words, considering Ravio's character, I'm going to try to go for a bit o' comedy here.
What is your time zone? Oooh! I know this one! EST, or UTC -5:00, if you prefer.
Describe yourself as a person. When you're not playing PTU, what are you doing? What's your job, hobbies, etc? I'm a humble undergraduate math major at the moment, taking classes, tutoring, and serving as a paid research assistant. When not being all scholarly but still at school, I hang out with some friends, play some board games and Smash Bros, and chat. Otherwise, I stay at home and play games.
What's your favorite pokemon? Oh boy. Arbitrary opinions. Scratches chin. I'll say the Treecko line, for nostalgia's sake.
What's your favorite type? Not again! Eh, Grass, again for nostalgia's sake.
What are you expecting to get out of this game? I've always enjoyed RPGs, and now I get to be a character I enjoy in one, with other characters I enjoy? Sounds like a good kinda crazy already!
What requests do you have in regards to this game (Character requests, item requests, event requests, etc) If you can think of characters of Ravio's caliper to throw in there, please do so. I await humor with great anticipation.
How do you feel about fakemon? Are there any you would like to see at some point? I am entirely ambivalent. If you've got 'em, go ahead and throw them at me!
Are there any rule alterations or other considerations you'd like us to discuss before we begin? Not off the top of my head?
Were there any other applications to this game that, should we need another player for any reason, you think would be particularly good or fun to play with? Why? Well, should–heaven forbid–I disappear, Waluigi sounds like a good substitute. He's a Provocateur and likes the color purple; it'll be like I never left! Other potentially fun ones, simply from my knowledge of the characters, not the players, include Wile E and Bill Cipher.

Nice to meet you all!
What is your experience with PBP?
All of my experience with PBP has been from PTf forums over the last 2-3 months. I'm runnign one game that's going well, was in 2 games that appeared to die before Christmas and just got into two (including this)
What is your experience with PTU?
I've been looking at PTU since 1.04. I ran a real time game a year and a half ago in that and revived it in PBP format about 2 months ago. Otherwise same as aboce.
Describe yourself as a player. Do you tend to break things? Go roleplay heavy? Do things for comedy?
Break thigns rule wise? I used t5o. I've done the breaking things and pushing things and power gaming and I've gotten bored of it. I've found more interest in failing, leaves more depth. I'm trying to get more roleplay heavy overall, I'd say comedy comes through a lot with me. Among my favourite characters I've played are total idiots who would (to them, accidentally) hypotethically and literally push the big red button and make things go wrong, and hten ultimately grow from all that.
What is your time zone?
UTC+0, Ireland
Describe yourself as a person. When you're not playing PTU, what are you doing? What's your job, hobbies, etc? Huge gamer, spend a lot of my spare time playing video games or one of the roleplay games I'm in. Work as a programmer and watch anime so basically one big nerd.
What's your favorite pokemon?
Weavile, Gyarados and Alakazam tend to take up my top 3. I've also been loving Drilbur sicne looking at him in PTU.
What's your favorite type?
Dark or Steel, roughly equally. Dark might be winning a bit
What are you expecting to get out of this game?
A chance to look at the world of pokémon through the eyes of someone who hasn't come from it.
What requests do you have in regards to this game (Character requests, item requests, event requests, etc)
As the initial tattoo that appeared on me implied... if you feel like stattign up Trigon somewhere down the road that'd be an interesting boss. Character wise maybe somethign leading Terra along gaining control of her powers
How do you feel about fakemon? Are there any you would like to see at some point?
I'm open to Fakemon. I like them interspersed with real mon, including type shifts. I prefer when the majority of Pokémon are ones I can recognise at least the basis of though. No preferences for which ones though.
Are there any rule alterations or other considerations you'd like us to discuss before we begin?
How much info do you give about the health of foes? If you're plannign to keep it vague perhaps you might allow people with higher Medical Ed to take better guesses? Can trainers at or below 0% hp still switch pokémon?
Were there any other applications to this game that, should we need another player for any reason, you think would be particularly good or fun to play with? Why?
Tbh I didn't really look through many of the other apps so can't make any recommendations here.

• What is your experience with PBP? I’ve been playing PBP for more than two years now. Most of it’s been on PTf, though I’ve played on MythWeavers and GitP as well. Aside from PTU I’ve played some FATE, Mutants and Masterminds, and World of Darkness (and built characters for Pathfinder but never managed to get accepted to a game, because PF is ridiculously popular). I generally prefer PBP to RT games, mostly because my work schedule is inconsistent enough to make scheduling RT games troublesome. • What is your experience with PTU? Most of my PBP experience has been playing PTU. I have a ridiculously fun time building characters and I like how the Feature/Edge system works. I do have a noticeable tendency to lean toward trainer combat classes that I should probably work on fixing… • Describe yourself as a player. Do you tend to break things? Go roleplay heavy? Do things for comedy? I lean a lot more toward roleplay than mechanic breaking - I’ve been in a couple of IRL games that I honestly did get to just sit around for ages chatting in-character. A lot of my characters tend to wind up a bit sarcastic, and if they don’t (mostly because it wouldn’t be in character) it has a tendency to creep out in the commentary. I’m also more than a bit long-winded. • What is your time zone? US Central time, currently UTC -6 hours. (-5 hours in Daylight Savings Time). I’m on most often after about 9 PM, though when I’m not opening I try to be available in the daytime too. • Describe yourself as a person. When you're not playing PTU, what are you doing? What's your job, hobbies, etc? I have this tendency to read or hang around on the internet (mostly reading stuff there, too) nearly constantly in my free time (I favor fantasy and sci-fi, by a lot). I’m fond of video games and tabletop games (in the sense of board or card games; sadly I don’t have an IRL tabletop RP group). I work in a grocery store, so a) I have retail hours, making my schedule inconsistent and b) I tend to be busiest immediately before holidays. I also use way too many parentheses and have an unfortunate tendency to use italics for emphasis. • What's your favorite pokemon? There you go asking the hard questions. Probably Spheal, Spheal are cute. If I had to pick a starter for myself it’d probably be Spheal. • What's your favorite type? I tend to favor Water, Ice, and Ghost types. Ground, Grass, and Electric are fun, too. • What are you expecting to get out of this game? Honestly, I’m mostly hoping to have fun playing a character who’s a bit outside my usual comfort zone, since Jack’s is the happiest darn drama queen you could ever hope to meet. I like exploration games, too, so I’m hoping to do some of that (Jack’s not survival-focused, but his temperament is good for finding new things). • What requests do you have in regards to this game (Character requests, item requests, event requests, etc) Nothing off the top of my head (even Jack’s wishlist is mostly suggestions). You have total permission to steal any of my other submissions for NPCs, though. But anybody interacting with Jack is liable to be a hoot - the only character he has any reason at all to distrust is Oogie Boogie. He hasn’t run into much of anybody else overtly malicious in his un-life. • How do you feel about fakemon? Are there any you would like to see at some point? I’m perfectly okay with fakemon turning up! I don’t have any specific requests, though Jack’s most likely to go for either spooky Pokémon or ones that are very far from his experience. • Are there any rule alterations or other considerations you'd like us to discuss before we begin? Nothing I can think of at the moment. • Were there any other applications to this game that, should we need another player for any reason, you think would be particularly good or fun to play with? Why? Wile E. Coyote looked to be pretty entertaining. I didn’t keep close enough track of who played who to make other suggestions.

We can use the herbal instead of repulsive mechanics.
As far as health, you're given notices when a pokemon takes an injury, when they faint, and when a boss staggers. You'll get a notice when a pokemon is at low health, as well, or when they heal using a move, buff, etc. There's not much else for a med ed character to actually guess--I'm not going to give actual numbers, since that's a bit too meta, and the injury notices let you know when it's below half, etc.
A trainer below 0% is not capable of switching pokemon, but pokemon do continue to act as normal.

What is your experience with PBP? Minimal. I'm in a few games now, but unless you count the RP I did on instant messaging I did when I was twelve, there isn't much.
What is your experience with PTU? I have at least 3 months experience by now, but maybe closer to four. I have enough experience with it that I feel good enough to GM, so there's that.
Describe yourself as a player. Do you tend to break things? Go roleplay heavy? Do things for comedy? I usually go super RP heavy, even if it isn't great, meta game wise. A lot of my characters do really stupid stuff, like screaming as soon as they wake up because someone woke them up or telling everyone in the vicinity that they have supernatural powers. I don't go out of my way to do things for comedy, but if something funny happens, that's always a plus!
What is your time zone? EST.
Describe yourself as a person. When you're not playing PTU, what are you doing? What's your job, hobbies, etc? I'm 15 and I'll refrain from being wah wah sob story here, but I'm currently out of most things because of medical stuff. Plus side is, though, I have ton of time on my hands! I love writing, and I'm currently working an a novel which I like to say is like Ouran retold by someone who can't stop swearing and making bad jokes. My other hobbies are sewing, painting, drawing, and as of recently, voice acting.
What's your favorite pokemon? Gah! That's hard! I'm gonna have to say Eevee, but it's closely followed by Litwick and Spinda.
What's your favorite type? This used to be Fire, but I think I'm leaning more towards Ghost now-a-days. Spooky scary skeletons and all.
What are you expecting to get out of this game? Just to have fun, really. I've never really played a character like Isabelle, so that's exciting for me, along with never really playing a survival focused game either. I'm basically just hoping to add a few notches to my roleplay belt!
What requests do you have in regards to this game (Character requests, item requests, event requests, etc) I don't have any requests off the top of my head, though I think it'd be cool if Isabelle could eventually get all of the AC tools like a watering can, axe, etc.
How do you feel about fakemon? Are there any you would like to see at some point? I've never really used them, but I don't mind them. I don't really have any requests here either.
Are there any rule alterations or other considerations you'd like us to discuss before we begin? Not really any rule alterations, but a question. Will there be books at all in this world, or is that something else we'll have to make? If there are books, are they rare?
Were there any other applications to this game that, should we need another player for any reason, you think would be particularly good or fun to play with? Why? Sadly, I don't know most of the apps source material well enough to comment on them, but I liked Luigi and Wile E. They were real creative, especially Wile E.

Books will be things that you can find in the game, but they will be reasonably rare. They have to be hand written here from memory of particularly well read people, after all!

What is your experience with PBP? - Exclusive to PTU, actually. All other tabletop gaming I've done has been live games, some over the vast Internet, but most in person.
What is your experience with PTU? - Broad, but not deep, which is something I want to fix. The only game I've really gotten anywhere with is a game that takes place outside the PTX Forums, but I'm in a handful of games that are getting off the ground, currently. Character generation is a breeze, now, but there's still some fundamentals I have to learn by actually going through proper game sessions. The sooner I learn these fundamentals, and the sooner I learn how higher level play works, the sooner I can get my own settings/campaigns into view.
Describe yourself as a player. Do you tend to break things? Go roleplay heavy? Do things for comedy? - Breaking the game isn't fun; I like to be optimal and have build options synergize, sure, but that generally only happens in mediums that I know very well, such as Dungeons and Dragons 3.5e. On the Rollplay vs Roleplay scale, I'm probably a tiny bit on the Rollplay side for most games, although it's hardly ever enough to make any sort of difference.
I totally go for the comedic factor. I actually have problems playing serious characters sometimes because I have to restrain myself from making horribly out of character wisecracks with them. I've learned that, across all tabletop games I may be playing at a given moment, it is optimal to have at least one character with a laugh inducing gimmick of some kind in order to get it out of my system for when I have to play less humorous characters.
What is your time zone? - Pacific Standard Time. I live in British Columbia, Canada, for the curious.
Describe yourself as a person. When you're not playing PTU, what are you doing? What's your job, hobbies, etc? - I'm your typical introvert that peruses the Internet, I suppose. Except I'm not, sort of. Despite having crippling social anxiety issues involving people, I very much enjoy social interaction, and I'm told I'm charismatic and fun to be around, most of the time (it's just actually introducing myself and putting myself out there that's the big hurdle). To me, this is about as backwards as you can get.
Games as a whole are my thing, with tabletop games (as evidenced by my being here in the first place) and video games (basically a given, in this day and age) being top of the list. I currently am going to university, so I don't have any job. I read quite a few books, mostly fiction, although not as much anymore as I used to. I very occasionally write things, although more often than not these things are related to Tabletop Gaming in one way or another. Or school, of course.
What's your favorite pokemon? - I don't have a singular favourite Pokemon. I have a Roman Republic of favourites, of which a lot of them tend to be quirky or otherwise overlooked species. The four most vocal of these in this "Pokemon Senate", however, are Crobat, Aggron, Chandelure, and Druddigon. If I absolutely positively had to pick a favourite, under pain of death, it would most likely be one of these four.
What's your favorite type? - Ah, yes. This old question. It's a tie between the Ground and Normal type, as quite a few of my favourites come from these two types. Yeah, that's right. I said it. NORMAL TYPE IS MY FAVOURITE. It gives me a strange sense of satisfaction to know that Normal type was one of the best offensive types in competitive R/B/Y battling, somehow.
What are you expecting to get out of this game? - A fun time, mostly! But also experience, as I explained above, already. Especially since this campaign looks especially promising, and explores aspects of the game I haven't yet thought about.
Also Gangrel insults. I want to get looooooots of those in!
What requests do you have in regards to this game (Character requests, item requests, event requests, etc) - Blackjack and hookers.
How do you feel about fakemon? Are there any you would like to see at some point? - I'm not particularly fond of fakemon, but I know some people just LOVE that kinda stuff, so throw dat shizznit in if you want. Just don't absolutely overload us with them and you'll get zero complaints from me.
Are there any rule alterations or other considerations you'd like us to discuss before we begin? - Are there rules for blackjack and hookers in the base game?
Were there any other applications to this game that, should we need another player for any reason, you think would be particularly good or fun to play with? Why? - I didn't actually look at any of the other application sheets, just the chosen character list, to make sure there wasn't any overlaps when I made Gangrel, so I'm certainly not the best person to ask this.
