Julie watches the small Sewaddle quietly, tilting her head as she's trying to figure out what it's trying to do. When she sees the wilted leaf on its head, she can barely hold back a squeal from the cuteness of it all, her worry about Uncle Randy being put to the side, for the time being. "You're trying to make a new leaf for your head, right? Here, let me try..." Julie would then very gently attempt to take the leaf from it and shape it into the proper shape, and if she succeeded she would attempt to delicately offer it back to the small pokemon. Looking down at the result though, she sighs. That wasn't very good... She offers the Sewaddle an apologetic look, a genuine look of disappointment on her face. "Sorry...." Steven sighs at Sirius non-commital answer, smiling softly. "Yeah, didn't think so." He stays still for a moment, before shrugging. "Better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission," he mutters to himself. He takes one of the pokéballs from his belt and slowly creeps forward through the underbrush till he's right next to the bug, making little sound as a does so. Once he has reached it, he lightly taps the bug with the ball, activating the capturing mechanic and absoring the bug. Capture check: fLhtON571d100-2 1d100-2

Bulwark looked flabbergasted by what Matt was saying to him. Looking at the Aron's reactions, Matt got the feeling that he might be jumping to conclusions about Bulwark and Sirius's interactions. At the mention of a battle, he sighed and plodded over, more sullen that before, if that was even possible.
The Caterpie looked over at Matt and, seeing Bulwark plodding over, gave a confused "Pie?" It cooked it's head, looking at the pair. It's expression was cleareally. Are...are you serious?
Meanwhile, the Sewaddle accepted the returned leaf with a curious look, like it didn't quite understand why this person was trying to help it...or if it was indeed being helped. The leaf it got back was lopsided, but not unable to be salvaged. After a moment of cutting and trimming it, the little Sewaddle had it in the proper shape and started to stiffen it with a small amount of string shot. As it finished, it regarded its handiwork, and discarded the old leaf, replacing it with the new. It looked up at Julie and gave a smile, uttering a triumphant "Waddle!"
As Steven snuck forward, the Scatterbug continued to doze. Then, finally, he was close enough. He reached out and tagged the pokemon. As he made contact, the Scatterbug awoke, letting out a shocked and frightened "Ter-?!" as it was drawn into the ball. The pokeball shook in Steven's hands, but after a short while there was that telltale chime-Scatterbug was caught!

Julie watches the Sewaddle work and as she does so, her expression changes from a disheartened expression to a beaming smile. The little bug was amazing! She knew that was their whole niche in the ecosystem, but it was still really cool to see! She gives it two big thumbs up in approval. "It looks great! Sorry I wasn't much help... You're really good at that though." She pauses for a moment, holding Tear up so that she and the bug can properly introduce themselves. "This is Tear, we're traveling together. Just started, really... But, what do you think about joining us? It'd be a lot of fun~!"

Steven smiles as the bug is properly captured, though the capture seems a bit hollow to him. Hmmm... He sighs and shakes his head, before releasing the Scatterbug, kneeling down next to it, smling brightly and trying to put the bug at ease. "Hi there, little fellow. How you doing. Sorry about that, but... I kind of thought you were cool looking, and I'd figured you'd like to join me if I asked friendly, but... you were sleeping, and I didn't really want to wake you up and startle you... guess that didn't really work out, eh?" As he's talking, he's trying his best to gage how the bug is feeling right now. Intuition: 14 Charm: 12

The Scatterbug looked around as it was released from the pokeball, focusing it's gaze on Steven as he spoke. The bug was trembling, but it wasn't out of fear...
The little bug was furious! "Sca...t-ter...BUG!," it shouted angrily, unleashing a massive blast of string shot--straight into Steven's face.
Sirius, standing well clear of the angry bug, had a look of surprise on his face, but his expression quickly turned to one of stifled laughter as he got a look at Steven's face... "Ri...ri..." Sirius was trying his best not to laugh.
The Scatterbug was still glaring angrily at Steven.

Steven blinks for a few moments after the Scatterbug shot the sticky silk at his face, before chuckling for a bit. "I suppose I deserved that," he says. He mock glares at Sirius though. "Hush you!"It's really hard to be intimidated by a bug the says of a shoebox, so the bug's attempts to glare at him were really more adorable than anything else'. Slinging his backpack of his back, he rummages in it till he finds one of the fruitbars his mom had insisted on packing. Unwrapping the snack, he holds it out to the Scatterbug in a peace offering, smiling. "I know you probably don't like me much at the moment, but I'm sure you and I are gonna be pals soon enough. Just gotta give me a chance, 'kay?"

At the sight of the bug, and after the near miss of it's attack on her, Val has no compunctions about immediately returning the sentiment. "Dinah," she snaps, "Secret Power, now! Show that insect that we won't be messed with." At the same time, she squints, seeing if she can recognize it. Bugs weren't all too common up in the snow, but maybe it was a species she recognized... Val uses Brutal Training on Dinah. 9 Pokémon Education to identify the bug.
Dinah uses Secret Power on the bug. 17 vs AC 2, critting via Brutal and Hardened for 50 Special Normal damage, and causing Sleep (I presume due to the "forest" descriptor, that that's the keyword I'd use for the Environ effect).

Matt looked between the Caterpie and Bulwark before sighing and throwing his hand up in exasperation "I don't understand you sometimes Bul. Like..." He stood silent for a second, no words coming out as he tried to form a sentence but he couldn't quite place what he was trying to say.
Shaking his head after a few second he continued "I'm sorry. I shouldn't have reprimanded you like that, I CLEARLY don't understand what was going on between you and Sirius and I was just trying to look out for you."
Turning back to the Caterpie, he smiled a little bit "I don't think Bulwark feels like fighting after all, sorry for bothering you" He shook his head again and muttered under his breath "Now I'm apologizing to wild Pokemon? What is being off the boat doing to me"

ValerieAs Dinah's ball of energy strikes it's target, a small explosion erupts from the back of the travelling group of trainers, and you all hear the sound of a cracking tree branch. The Weedle, which Valerie easily identifies, sees the ball of energy coming and only had time to utter a surprised "Wee?!" before it finds its mark. You finally hear the branch give way, and hear a weak "Wee....dle," the latter part accompanied by a dull thump as the little worm falls to the ground, unconscious. ĮœŘŋŒĊőŋœŘŝĊĝĊŏŢŚĘØ JulieAs Julie attempts to woo the Sewaddle, it seems...unsure. It looks at Tear, blinking. "Waddle?," it asks. "Tym, tympole tym," Tear responds enthusiastically. "Sew, sew-waddle," it replies. "Tym-tym!," Tear says eagerly. "Wa-dle!," it shoots back, assuming an aggressive posture. Tear starts to struggle in your arms, trying to get down. It looks like the two want to battle... StevenThe Scatterbug looks up at you with disdain and irritation, clearly unhappy with the present situation. Sirius is still trying to stifle his laughter as the conversation unfolds. Eventually, and angrily, the Scatterbug takes the fruit bar, uttering an angry "Scat!," turning its back on you. It's clearly not happy...but at least it didn't shoot you with another wad of string shot...so that's something. MattBulwark looks at Matt with big, sad eyes as he apologizes. "Ron, ron-ron! A-ron!" Whatever the discussion and posturing between Sirius and Aron was all about, Bulwark clearly feels betrayed by the fact that you cut him down instead of backing him up, and that's why he's upset with you. It feels like it hadn't done anything wrong. As this is taking place, the little Caterpie intersects into the conversation. "Pie? Pie-pie-pie~," it says. It's laughing at Bulwark. This sets the little Aron off. "A-ron?!," he says angrily, snarling at the Caterpie. "Pie-pie. Caterpie," it says, spraying a blast of string shot at the Aron, wrapping him up in some of the sticky threads. "A-ron!," he says angrily, snapping some of the strands and glaring at the Caterpie angrily. ſƲƩƴƞƯƨŝƦưŝƥƦƱŝƟƶŝƐƱƯƦƫƤŝƐƥƬƱũŝƩƬưƢŝŮŝƐƍƁŝƀƐūŝŝƆƱŝƦưŝſƲƩƴƞƯƨŤưŝƦƫƦƱƦƞƱƦƳƢūŝŝƀƞƱƢƯƭƦƢŝƦưŝƦƫƦƱƦƞƱƦƳƢŝűūØ

Steven sighs and rubs the back of his head. "Okay, you're pissed off, I get that, really, I would be too. How 'bout this? I give you a fair chance to get your freedom back. A battle. You against Sirius here. You win, I'll release you and you're free to go. We win, than I have at least fairly beaten you and have deserved to be your trainer. That sound fair to ya?"

Steven
The Scatterbug seems to be ignoring the offer of battle entirely, not even considering it. Its posture is very indignant. This Scatterbug does seem particularly clever...perhaps something of a trickster? Perhaps that explains it. Capturing it like you did, you tricked the trickster...no wonder it's so angry...

Steven smirks slightly as he finally figures out just why exactly the bug is so upset. Interesting... Now this I can work with. He stands up, shrugging theatrically. "Very well. If you're sure, I suppose you could stay here then. Knowing, of course, that I bested you, and that you'll have no way of getting back at me. A master, bested at his own game. A shame, really." He smirks devilishy to the bug, before turning around as if to walk off, motioning for Sirius to follow. Guile for acting: 14

Steven
Sirius moved to follow, unsure of the whole situation.
Impressively, Steven's comments served to make the Sewaddle even angrier. It fired off a stream of string shot at Steven's ankles, wrapping them up, and yanking hard...

"Ah, whoops..." Val says, a little sheepishly, upon realizing exactly what happened. "We might want to work on making sure we don't start destroying the surroundings next time we train, Dinah. I'm not used to there being... stuff... around. But," she continues, more firmly, "At least that bug should have learned its lesson."

As the Stringshot hit Bulwark, Matt shook his head "Getting Bulwark angry really wasn't the best plan"
Pointing towards the Caterpie, he called out "Alright Bul, it seems he's fine with a fight after all, show him what you've got with a Tackle!"

Steven stumbles for a bit, but the small bug isn't exactly strong enough to actually knock him down, so he remains standing. He turns around, an eyebrow raised. "So, you don't want me to leave then? You really gotta make up your mind, buddy. I have things to do, y'know. You gonna come with me or what? I'm gonna be traveling for quite a bit, y'know, meet lots of people, lots of unaware and usually pretty gullible people. Perfect prank targets, really. That should be pretty fun." He smiles widely.

StevenThe Scatterbug is clearly frustrated by your remarks. "Scatter- BUG!," it shouts angrily before returning itself to your pokeball. At the Scatterbug's shouts, Sirius has a look on his face like he just heard a particularly naughty word, but he shakes it off quickly. Valerie"So-lo...," Dinah says in agreement as the Weedle lay dazed among the broken branches. Dinah then floated back over to Valerie, it's opponent dealt with. MattThe Caterpie takes the hit well. It's a fairly resilient little bug. It fires of a spray of string shot at an overhead branch, pulling itself up into the canopy. From its higher vantage point, it rains down another sticky spray of threads onto Bulwark, binding him further. From its elevated position, the bug continued to taunt and laugh at Bulwark. Caterpie used a threaded shift, and is now on a branch 2 meters above Bulwark. It then fired off a string shot. Climbing up the tree will be a difficult Athletics or Acrobatics check, or you can roll Intuition to try and come up with anew idea if you can't think of anything. How do you wish to proceed?

Steven sighs. "Well... that could have gone better." He looks at Sirius' expression and cringes. "That bad eh? Do me a favour. Next time I say it's better to beg for forgiveness than to ask for permission, hit me, okay? It'll probably save me some major headaches... I have no blumming clue how I'm gonna fix this mess... Let's go see what the others are up to."
He motions for Sirius to follow him and heads off to find the rest of the group, hoping he hadn't wandered off too much.

Matt frowned as the Caterpie shot itself up the tree and continued to coat Bulwark in string "Hey you little coward! Come back and fight like a man....er Bug!"
Gesturing towards the tree, Matt calls out "Bul, try and get up there if you can!"
