"I've definitely found an odd one," Farina muses to herself. "So where to next? We have just one other quest besides Sariah's... request. We can either go there or keep exploring the town."

"Well... There might be one thing I would like to look into if we have time." Olivier said uncharacteristically softly. He twisted his ankle in the dirt, looking down at it bashfully. "Do you know if they have a place where you can ask around for someone who has gone missing?"

"Hmm, that kind of thing usually takes the form of quests given to guilds." Farina begins to twiddle her thumbs while trying to think. "I might be able to reach an old contact of mine that can lead us to the right person. But he's in another strata on an extended vacation. I can send him a letter, but it's easiest if we were to travel to him and meet him in person."

"Oh." Olivier says with a pout. He quickly cheers up and regains his sunny attitude soon afterwards. His sunny attitude is the weed in the garden of life that refuses to die. "If an adventure leads us into the other strata, then we'll see about visiting your friend with splendid haste! But in the meantime, let's go get those cookies for Sariah! I can't think of anything else to do off the top of my head just yet."
Then, using the mental image of the map, and the sun as an unreliable marking post, he turned south and started marching down the street towards the bakery, swinging his arms wildly. He caught his arm on a post and swung on it lazily. "Hrmm... Oh! I have a silly question for you Miss Farina." He plerked noisily. "What made you want to become a Guildmaster?"

" Oh, I suppose I should remind you about the medicine maker quest before we forget. We don't have the materials, but talking to the quest giver is still a good idea. You sometimes receive useful hints for the quests." Farina points out. " It's near the housing district to the southwest. And yes, we'll see what we can do about expanding out to another strata... but that would require..." Farina muses to herself for a moment and you can clearly see that it's going to be a while before you make it to another strata judging by her facial expressions. When Farina hears your question, she stops her musings and smiles, " I was wondering who was going to be the first of you to ask." Farina stretches before continuing to walk ahead of Olivier as she answers. " Well, I used to belong to a now broken up pseudo-guild. As in, we were just a band of adventurers who loved the freedom that came of not being in a guild, but we'd occasionally group up when it came to tackling some of the hardest dungeons known at the time. I have to admit that it was nicely liberation to be able to leave for months at a time and not worry about duties to a guild." She pauses after this, slowing her walk simultaneously. " Remember when I said your guild emblems will allow me to warp you out of dungeons in emergencies?" Her voice saddens somewhat at this point. " Well, when you aren't in one..." Farina's left hand reaches over her right shoulder and begins pulling the back of her shirt down, only slightly, to uncover part of her right shoulder blade. Olivier can see the beginnings of a rather large scar. " We lost 6 out of our 10 companions that day... we couldn't even bring them back for a proper burial. It happened 5 years ago, so by now there's no point to trying to find them anyways." She gently slides her shirt to cover up again and continues, " We all handled it differently." Farina begins to walk south towards the herb shop, forgetting that she had given Olivier the lead today. " One companion, is the one I mentioned in the second strata. He gave up adventuring and decided to open up a business as a Finder...if you need it, he'll find it. As for me, I was depressed for about four years, I stayed home... Thankfully Sariah was strong enough for me and took me out each day more and more to help me cope. Her bright smile might be the only reason I'm still here today. Thoron took it a bit better... sort of. He rampaged across the third strata destroying every FOE there for months on end. He became obsessed with strength though... determined to never be too powerless to help again. And Myst, well she was the level headed strategist of the group... we'll see her pretty soon. But don't bring up any of this and... please just don't act surprised or anything when you see her." " But I'm trailing off... Although it's taken me longer to recover, like Thoron I also decided to start up a guild. I'm hoping to properly prepare and train the next generation of adventurers so that you guys are ready to face some of the harsh challenges previous generations have had to fight. Although people can always choose to avoid the dungeons... if they aren't cleared out regularly, more dangerous creatures begin to form and some have left their dungeons in the past and destroyed whole strata... When you finally see the fourth strata, you'll know what I meant. But I think that's more than enough to answer your question and then some..." Farina continues to gaze forward as you walk behind her. " The herb shop is right near us... shall we?" I've been forgetting:

"No. Not quite yet." Olivier slipped out pulled Farina a small, but sympathetic one armed hug. There really wasn't much he could say here. Nothing that had ever happened in his life was nearly so terrifying or awful. But, at the very least, he was happy that both Sariah and Farina were still there, and were brave enough to start the guild.
That itself was enough.
After a short enough time to avoid being awkward (A rare thing indeed), he pulled back, and began adopting his sunny demeanor slowly. "Ok. There we go! Let's go check out the herbalist. I'd be happy to talk with it's owner as well!~"

Farina calmly accepts the hug, before turning back to the shop. "Come."
As the two of you reach the shop, you are greeted by Myst, a female Lunarian, whose clothes look rather disheveled. "Well I'll be! Customers!"
"Hi Myst, we came to talk to you about-" Farina pitched in before being interrupted by a nearly non-stop barrage of phrases:
"Oh yes-y yes yes, customers! Wait, how do you my name? Who gave you that?! Wait, you're here for medicines aren't ya! Well I ain't got none right now! I'm waiting on some guild to bring me the stuff I need. So I suggest you scram on outta here for a while and come back when those people bring me what I need. Hopefully they know to use the search points Mild Meadows grassland. Tons of search points for herbs there! Who are you again?" Myst finishes off by rummaging her hands through her hair, adding to the already crazy state it was in.
Farina turns back to Olivier and whispers, "Despite her current state, she still remembers how to make quality medicines."
"I'm happy to see that at least this part of her continues to live on." Farina thinks to herself with a sigh.

"I kind of like her. She seems like she is fun!" Olivier chirped happily. He took a step forward and fired back with his own brand of fast-fire Lunari talk.
"Yes, yes! We are customers. The good kind of the customers, those that pay. We know you're name because we're guild members and friends and as guild members we're going to get those herbs to you post haste. And they're going to be good herbs too! The kind that you can just chew on and sort of say, 'Yeah. That's a good herb'. I don't really know what herbs taste like because I've never tried them, but it's the thought that counts. The Mild Meadows sound like a nice place to go look for herbs, so I think if my Guildmaster is alright with that I might take you up on that advice. Good herbs are good herbs!"
He paused a moment, placing a finger to his chin. Suddenly he snapped his finger with a smile. "Ooh! If you don't have any herbs though, perhaps you should take a moment to go get a nice herbal tea to relax with! We can go grab you something if you'd like!"

"You go, you go, you go! I want some herbs! I've got almost every ingredient in the book. But that darn aloe! Oooo why do you have to be so important! Oh hey, I just remembered! I have this potion. Get me some herbs, here take this potion. It'll help you help me! Oh yes, very yes. Now scram and come back with some herbs!" Her constant stream of talking finally subsides as she yawns and walks back in to her store. She closes the door behind her which has a sign saying that her shop is closed.
Farina smiles before turning to Olivier, "It's still not late yet, so we have plenty of time to explore any other places before heading back. We probably have the time to look into maybe, 2 places before heading back. I'll leave it up to you though. If you want to head back early and rest, then that works as well."

"I can rest later, there is so much city to explore!" Olivier exclaimed, smiling broadly. "But I think you were right. It is nice to meet the quest-givers in person. That way, we know exactly who we're helping!"
There then for one moment however, he paused staring out at the large, beautiful cathedral of knowledge that stood dead in the center of the square. "Ooh! That is the Grand Library right? One of these days, it might be nice to stop by there. I'd love to see their collection of star charts! I bet they're just wonderful!"
He nodded quietly and closed his eyes contently. Stars. Olivier liked the stars!

" Exactly. And you never know what great knowledge that they might impart on you." Farina smiles, showing no signs of her previous worries. She looks towards the massive building near them just as Olivier contemplates visiting it. " Oh yes, the Grand Library is amazing. There are so many great books in there. It's really hard to find anything though. It was built recently, and all of its books are survivors from the former Grand Library that burned down. They're still trying to index everything properly; at least they're still lending out books in the mean time." Farina reaches into her bag and produces a book titled "The Oran Berry Lover's Guide". " I borrowed this last week," she begins with a noticeable tone of joy in her voice, "It's a very insightful book!" Farina turns to her bookmark and begins reading while asking, " So... where to?" "I like the books with pictures!" Olivier chirped. "Like, the ones with beautiful diagrams or depictions of different FOE varieties and Pokémon. Oh! Or ones that show how ancient mechanisms like Pokéballs work. Or how they used to be made from Apricorns! Those are fantastic!"
He sighed contently. It took him back. His dad was usually working on such diagrams. He's the one who had taught Olivier how to make Pokéballs in the first place. He grinned softly. "One of these days, I will check out the library! It's a shame about all the books that got burnt away though. All that history is very, very important."
Turning away from the library, he skipped off in the other direction entirely towards the bakery. "I think we'll want to go get those cookies now." He said, prattling little footfalls marketing his advance. "Then, we can check out the plaza for a tool kit... And that will be it for the day!"

"Oh, oh!" Farina yells out showing a bit less composure than befit her title. "I know the library has FOEs Across the Ages, but they haven't found it in all of the clutter yet." Her excited state finally dawns on her as she relaxes and continues, "So let's go grab those cookies shall we?" Farina begins to pace back towards marketplace.
"I suppose we should familiarize ourselves with the local stalls too. I haven't really looked at them in ages." As you two approach the stalls you notice that a few are closed with no signs out front; however, you can still see a number of stalls still servicing customers.

"Yes! Lets do so!" Olivier cries happily. He quickly bounds from stall to stall, trying to find any stall that was selling baked goods or otherwise interesting items. Intuition Roll - 4! Perception Roll - 2!

Farina stood at the entrance to the marketplace, watching Olivier at work. " Um, Olivier," she eventually called out. She hoped to get his attention as she casually pointed to a stall at the left with a cookie display. " You seem to have missed this stall." Farina walked up to the stall and began looking through the available snacks. Snacks:
Cookies - 100 (Sweet conf.)
MooMoo Milk - 500
Candy Bars - 75
Mini Muffins - 100 (baby food)
Poffins - 500

Olivier turned his nose away from a stand selling delectable smelling flowers and grinned sheepishly. "Oh! that's where it is! How silly of me!"
Upon arriving at the stand... Such variety! He wasn't expecting them to take such care in designing their food! Certainly he would have to provide them with some business! After purchasing the cookies(his focus on the quest could not be swayed!), he immediately grabs up some mini-muffins. "These are for Pokémon, right?" He asks, turning the little muffin over in his hands. "I can tell because some of the little chunks have herbal extracts for young Pokémon."

Behind the stand, you see a small blonde head pacing back and forth moving some boxes around. She notices you and yells, "Be there in a moment!" As she sets down the boxes, you hear a small scraping of wood against the ground and you see her step up to the front counter, now noticeably higher up thanks to her stepping stool. "Hi there, my name is Ellen and welcome to Poff it UP!" She enthusiastically calls out. "We have all of your Poffin needs! We also sell other baked goods and snacks!" "Puff!" A slurpuff behind her can be seen waving a whisk as it goes to create some more whipped toppings for the poffins. "What can I interest you in today?" Ellen:

"Oh!" Olivier says, quickly dropping the muffin like it's hot. Because it was hot. Or at least a little warm. Mmm... Muffins. He picks the muffin back up. It was good to him. He would have this muffin. Muffins~.
But the girl was much cuter than the muffin. Olivier's gaze quickly caught on her and he smiled broadly. "Ah! Hello Ellen! My name is Olivier, and this is my Guildmaster Farina! We're here to buy cookies for a very important quest!"

Her eyes light up at his words, "A cookie quest! That sounds amazing! I never knew adventurers did quests like that!" She continues to beam a smile at the two of you as she grabs a small bag of pre-wrapped cookies. "Here, take these, they're the best cookies in the batch! That'll be 100 En. Would you like anything else while you're here? I recommend Poffins of course, but my MooMoo Milk is delicious and helpful in dungeons!"
As she hands you the bag of cookies she continues to display her bright smile and gives an eager look hoping you'll buy something else.

"Ooh! I don't have nearly enough money for the Poffins or Moomoo milk right now. It is sad, but true." Olivier says with a frown. But he soon turned it upside down. "Oh! But I do have enough money for the cookies and MUFFINS! I'd like to give one set to my new partner, Nee. I haven't been able to spoil her since I got her! She's such a beautiful little fluffball, kind of like your little friend there!"
Then, to prove his point, he quickly reached down into his rope pocket for Nee's ball. Within a few moments, the cotton ball Pokémon was out on the square and bouncing lightly in the twilight sun. Olivier clapped his hands happily. "Eeeh! See! That's what I like about some Fairy-Types. They're just so fluffy!"
