Azrael grinned back at Matthew, but with genuine good cheer. "Oh yeah, no problem. We like close, close is good." Close is excellent. He cocked his head as Kappa started making odd chattering noises, "Hmm... sorry, looks like he isn't in the mood for a chat right now. Maybe later, though?" He waved his hand in a tight looping signal, directing Aethon towards another angle of attack. Azrael - Inspired Training.
Aethon - Tackle (AC 2 - 14, DB7: 25 damage). Evasion 4.

Azrael
As Aetheon slams into the little amphibian once again it let out a pitiful cry and collapsed to the ground "Curses" Matthew whispers under his breath before returning the Lotad
"The winner of this match is Azrael Himlin from Kalos! It seems his soaring style was just too much to handle!" The crowd clapped loudly in response of the swift victory, Aetheon gliding back onto Azraels arm
Matthew shook his head as he waked over and bowed again "Well, it looks like you were the better battler this time. Good job" His words were laced with a venom that wasn't there before the fight, his stare much colder than before
Jack
Bolt nodded in agreement as Jack made his way along the familiar roads to the Pokecenter,
Upon entering the building, he saw very few trainers, the place being almost empty, although a large spread of snacks and drinks were laid out, complementary for competitors in the tournament. Bolt eyed the food and slowly tried to make his way off of Jacks shoulder
About halfway down, he turned his head towards the door, where a boy with bright pink hair was in the process of coming in
Dave
Upon reaching the Pokecenter, Dave notices that not only is it far more.....quaint, than the ones he was used to. He also noticed that it was nearly barren of any other trainers, the only one who even stood out to him was a boy a full foot shorter than him, with a Pichu climbing down his side.
The duo seemed to be heading towards a table covered in various foods and drink
Luke
"Hmmmm" Catelynn hummed as they walked along "Well, it's pretty tropical compared to around here. The Ocean is right by most of it, there's even a floating town!"
She walked ahead a bit before turning around and walking backwards, looking at Luke "But I'm from Lilycove. It's got a giant shopping center and was a hotbed for contests. I saw some pretty famous Coordinators, and even thought about being one. But I couldn't afford a Contest Pass, which is why I came to enter the Tournament! It didn't cost as much to come here."
Placing a finger on her chin in thought, she spoke again "What's Accumula Town like?"

"Hey! You just had a snack!," Jack said with a little frown as Bolt tried to sneak away. "You don't want to eat too much. It'll be tough to fight in our next battle if you get too full," he said. Half-way to the snack bar, Jack heard the door slide open and looked over his shoulder. Huh. Well, I've never seen him before...nobody in town has pink hair..., he thought to himself.
Jack turned away and walked over to the snack bar, grabbing a bottle of water and a small sandwich for himself and Bolt, then started back toward a table in the PokeCenter where he and Bolt could sit down with their food and drinks. He stopped in front of the older, pink-haired trainer.
"Hey there," he said, looking the older trainer in the eyes. "So, are you one of the trainers competing in the tournament? I've never seen you around Nuvema Town before...and I think I'd recognize someone with hair like that," he finished with a playful grin. "Oh, I'm Jack, by the way. And this is Bolt...," he added with a grin, almost as an afterthought, nodding his head to where his Pichu should be...

Upon entering the Pokécenter, Dave's first course of action is to head for the reception desk, in order to get Hal patched up. Always good to get things like that out of the way early, because you never know what distractions might occur later.
Afterwards, he decides to check out the food... maybe there might be something worth snacking on. You never know unless you look... On his way there, though, he's stopped by a younger boy, who then proceeds to talk to him. Yay...
"Yes, I'm here for the tournament," Dave says, looking down at the boy. "I can't think of any other reason why one would visit this... rustic... town." The way he says 'rustic' makes it seem as if there's a plethora of other... less charitable words that could be substituted instead. "There isn't even a Gym here." He inwardly sighs at the next comment. Everyone always seems to make a comment on the hair... "My name is Dave. Now, is there something that I can help you with, or are you just bothering me for fun?"

"Bothering you?," he asks rhetorically, slightly confused. "I'm not trying to bother you...I just figured it might be nice to chat before the next round of the tournament, especially since you're not from around here. I've lived in Nuvema Town all of my life, so I could tell you a lot about the town. For instance, you might not know this, but Professor Juniper actually has a lab set up in town," he said, unwrapping a sandwich and handing it to Bolt. "And if you want to try out some of the local specialties for dinner, you can't beat the Rusty Pelipper. It's one of the most popular places to eat in town," he added with a grin. After all, he should know. Jack did used to work in the kitchen over there until recently.
"So where are you from, Dave? Oh, and how did your match go?," he asked, unwrapping his own sandwich and taking a bite, looking expectantly at the older trainer, eagerly awaiting an answer.

Oh, joy, one of these kinds of people... Dave thinks, upon hearing the amount of talking coming from the boy. Even worse in that he needs to parse his way through the accent. "Well, I don't really think I need to know much about this town. I plan to fight some trainers, win, and then move on." He shrugs. "I don't see the point in spending much time here if all the good trainers will gravitate elsewhere after the tournament's over."
It sinks in that this boy probably isn't going to go away quickly. Maybe answering some questions would speed that up. Sigh. "I'm from Larousse City, in Hoenn." And the only point of civilization I've seen so far... I'm beginning to think I should have traveled Hoenn... but, ugh, then my sisters would still have gotten everywhere first. "Mine ended in victory, as expected." He gives a sly grin. "But don't expect that you'll be able to wheedle my tactics out of me with that thin of a ruse..."

"I'm not trying to figure out your tactics," Jack said as if the mere notion was silly. "That wouldn't make for a very fair battle if we do fight in the tournament. See, me and Bolt won our battle too," he said with a grin. "So you're from Larousse City in Hoenn, huh?," Jack confirmed. "That makes sense...you look like the city type," he added with a grin.
"Well, you shouldn't judge Nuvema Town by just what you see at a glance. There's a lot more to the town than what you see on the surface. After all, this is where the Hero of Ideals started out on his journey. That's the whole reason for the tournament," he added with a pleased grin.

"Well, that's a shame," Dave says. "I'd have understood you trying to, even if it seemed fairly transparent." Better than idle chit chat. How much longer was this kid just going to keep talking...?
"So, let me get this straight..." Dave continues, dryly, "The whole important thing about Nuvema is because someone left it, no? So why in the world would I want to stay?"

Grinning widely, Azrael fist-pumped sightly with excitement at his victory. Yes! My first real battle! Blushing at the sudden attention from the crowd a moment later, Azrael patted Aethon's back lightly as he settled on his arm. As Matthew began to bow, Azrael instinctively started moving in response, but froze at the tone of the other trainer's voice. What the... "Uh, is something wrong?" Azrael's smile vanished into a confused frown at the look in Matthew's eyes, "I didn't mean to be rude, I thought we were both having fun with the battle..." Suddenly awkward, he scratched nervously at the back of his head.

Luke shrugs at Catelynn's question. "It's a pretty normal town, really, not all that big. Certainly no large shopping centres or contest halls. Lots of hills with pretty nice views, though. You'll probably see yourself, you basically have to go through Accumula to get anywhere else in the region." He thinks for a few moments, before adding: "A shame you couldn't do contests... Not that I think you're bad at battles!" he adds hastily, realising how that had sounded, "Just... a shame you couldn't do what you really wanted to. I haven't really seen any, they aren't much of a thing around here. What're they like?" he asks, trying to talk over his bout of awkwardness.

Jack shook his head at Dave with a grin. "The Hero of Ideals didn't just leave here. This is where he came from," Jack said. "There's a difference."
"When you say you left somewhere, well...that means you didn't take anything from there with you. And I'm not just talking about stuff either, I mean experiences and values too. Things you can't put a price on," he said, looking at Bolt with a grin before returning his gaze to Dave. "But when you come from somewhere, that means that place is a part of you, too. At least a little bit. See, the Hero of Ideals came from here, and he took part of Nuvema Town with him. The good-natured people, the peace, and the...simplicity that people appreciate around here," he said, choosing a different word from Dave's 'rustic'.
"And I'm not saying you should stay here forever, but you should give Nuvema Town a chance. Try appreciating it for what it is, instead of being disappointed by what it isn't. You might just enjoy your stay here, if you give it a chance," he offered with a smile.

Azrael
"Fun?" Matthew said harshly "Battles aren't meant to be fun. They're meant to be WON" He turned away and began to walk towards the road "I'm sure that's something you'll come to understand when your next opponents don't go easy on you for the sake of 'FUN'"
After he made it a little ways away, he turned back "Speaking of which, I'm sure you'll find other winners at the Pokecenter, if you want to see what your competition looks like"
Luke
Catelynn giggled a bit "Well, who knows. Maybe I'll find a way to make the money while I'm here."
Jumping up on a curb, and continuing to walk backwards, she looked up at the sky "Contests are great. It isn't about brute force or anything like that. It's about being the most stylish with your moves. It's all about creativity and how you present yourself. So the stuff Rose can do is a little bit more useful then the stuff Gawain can do" She says with a smile before quickly adding "Not that what Gawain can do is bad! It's just a little....plain"

"Sorry to burst your bubble," Dave says, clearly not sorry at all, "But, I'm pretty sure I left Hoenn. I'm not there anymore, unless all of my education has been lying to me. But, regardless, I still have all my skill. I'm the same person who left."
"Besides," he continues, smirking "simplicity's just another word for 'boring'. Dress it up however you like, but what's the simplest thing? Just a flat, empty plain. If that's the sort of thing your little town has as its claim to fame, you can leave me out of it."

Luke kind of... shrinks at Catelynn's last comment. His head falls, his shoulders droop and he generally retreats into himself, the word echoing in his mind. Plain, perhaps one of the kinder description Connonr had for him. "Yeah... sure..." he mutters, sounding decidedly downtrodden. He couldn't even get worked up over this, she was just trying to be nice!

What the hell? As Matthew walked away, Azrael quietly asked, "But what's the point of battling if you're just going to be miserable about it?" His frown deepened, and he turned towards the Pokecenter, muttering, "And why can't you have fun and try to win?" Frustrated, he trudged off towards the Pokecenter, petting Aethon as he went, "Well, regardless, you did a good job buddy." His good cheer rapidly returning, he smiled and glanced at Aethon, "Let's keep it up for the next battle, alright?"

Jack sighed lightly. "I think you missed my point," he said with a grin. Either that, or he intentionally ignored it...
"But either way, you're wrong," Jack said. "The simplest thing would be nothing, and Nuvema Town certainly isn't nothing. Like I said, there's a lot more to Nuvema Town than you think. You just have to be willing to look for it."
Realizing he still hadn't given Bolt his bottle of water, Jack unscrewed the cap and handed the bottle to the Pichu. "And simple things aren't boring, they're just simple. You don't want to make things too complicated. That just means there are more ways for something to go wrong...like putting too many ingredients in a recipe, or trying to do too many things at once," he said.
"Anyway, it was nice talking with you Dave. Good luck in your next match," Jack said, extending his right hand toward the older trainer.

"So, you're saying there's a lot more than I think, but that it's also simple?" Dave asks, sarcastically. "Got it, it's a town of conflicting messages."
"Yeah, okay, bye," he says, before at last making his way to the food table. Finally... Well, at least I'll never have to interact with him again, unless I battle him in the tournament.

Jack frowned when Dave didn'the shake his hand, but smirked at Dave's last comment as the discussion went right where he expected. "Well, this is Unova. We're founded on conflicting messages," he said, pleased with himself. With that he went to sit down with Bolt and see if any other trainers came by the Pokemon Center.

Azrael
Aethon pecks a bit at Azraels head as they walk, eventually calming down as they enter the Pokemon Center, just in time to see a tall boy with bright pink hair walk away from a much shorter boy, ignoring his outstretched hand. The taller boy went to a table full of food while the shorter one went and sat down, followed by a bright yellow Pokemon.
Aethon looked back between the food and the yellow Pokemon, clearly conflicted as to which he should fly towards
Jack
Bolt takes the water and sits down, beginning to chug it, just as another trainer walks in, this one a bit shorter than Dave and with bright blue hair instead. An Orange flying Pokemon was perched on his shoulder, which Bolt eyed for a moment, before going back to his water
Dave
As soon as Dave made his way away from the local, Jack, and looked at the food spread out before him. For how backwoods the place was, at least the food looked well prepared.
Before he could take too good of a look however, another boy entered the room, this one with bright blue hair and some sort of orange flying type on his shoulder.
Luke
"Wait no, I didn't mean it like that Luke! Plain can be good! Vanilla is my favourite Ice Cream and it's plain!" When she saw how sad he was getting, Catelynn went right into cheer mode "Besides, Gawain is so strong, it doesn't even matter what I say. He beat Rose so quick she could barely do anything! It was really impressive!"
She jumped down from the curb, walking over and looking up at Luke "Cheer up! You need to be back to the same level of enthusiasm as before if you're gonna win your next fight! Remember, I'm relying on you to win so I don't look bad!"

Luke listens to Catelynn's words. Plain isn't mediocre. Slowly, he regains his confidence and his usual stance. Normal isn't boring. He levels his gaze with Catelynn, his eyes alight with passion, a determined grin on his face. I will show them who is average! "You're right. I shouldn't just lie down and roll over, just because of what they say. What do they know!? I won't give up! I won't quit till they see just how wrong they are!"
His confidence fully restored, he stands there for a few moments, before realising something. That had been quite loud. He immediately shrinks back a bit again, though not by much. He smiles awkwardly at Catelynn. "Thanks for that, I needed that."
