El Dorado stood there boldly; gleaming in the sun
El Dorado used to be a cultist camp. It was run down with buildings that were little better than sheds. Since the discovery of the way to Xibalba, it has blossomed into a very clean, modern, and busy city. There are five large buildings housing the different companies that have agreed to share the entry way into Xibalba (so long as no one else gets to use it). There are also houses, apartments, and shops. There are only a handful of shops selling equipment to Xibalba, but one can see that more are being built as quickly as possible.
Upon exiting Xibalba, all jumpers find themselves at the bottom of the pit they "jumped" into. After the first company arrived, the installed an elevator, especially for their employees that were injured to be quickly brought up to the medical clinic. Each of our heros will find themselves being ushered into the elevator and into an isolation room while they await testing.
The three happened to exit at the same time and, as there is only one isolation room at the small clinic, were placed there to wait together.

Haruki sits with an expression of confusion and worry upon his face. Every now and then he takes quick glances at the surrounding.

Dio, how much longer is it going to be in here? Alessa thinks, impatiently. There's nothing wrong with me. Can't those idioti see that? Anyone watching her will notice that while she may be sitting still, her hands are in constant motion, whether tapping on something, running through her hair, or just fidgeting.
Since there wasn't much to do in this boring place, and she'd already dismissed the two guys also sitting in here as not her type, she reflected back on what she had seen back in the pit. It certainly... wasn't anything like she'd ever seen before. Or... even thought could exist, not outside of her mind, at least. But, her exhaustion, hunger and thirst told her that, yes, it was all too real. Would be nice if they put some food out for us...
At least in Xibalba, she'd had her mind taken off why she was down there... now that's just another weight. She sighs, and waits for this isolation to be over.

Compared to the other two occupants of the room, as far as Leo could see, he was the very picture of patience. He didn't fidget, or look around the room any more than to give it and the people in it a cursory glance. He was somewhat sunken into in his seat, and seemed to exude a relaxed aura. In his mind though, he was laughing, delighting in the fact that he of all people seemed like a monk compared to the other two in the room.
There were some reasons for his stillness and composed demeanor of course. The biggest was likely that he was still processing what had happened earlier in the... cave. If it could be called that. It really was a whole other world in there. Another reason was that he was used to being bored. He knew how to handle the mind numbing wait for something to do, or maybe it was more accurate to say that he didn't. More often than not, he solved his boredom by finding something to alleviate his boredom with, something that was a little more substantial than tapping as Leo noticed the woman doing. Of course that usually made apparent that he couldn't handle the boredom, but he wasn't one to care for other people's perceptions.
I wonder who these two are. They appeared at the same time as I did, so they must have survived the jump too. I wonder if they came across the same things that I did, Leo thought idly, determinedly not wondering about people who might not have survived the jump. He hid a grin by faking a yawn. Well, let's see how they react to this and maybe I'll find out. Should be fun.
Leo turned lazily towards the other occupants of the room. "Either of you two smoke? I heard it's great for when you're bored. They say smoking kills you, so I think it's a big commitment. Who knows, maybe after you die you keep smoking in heaven, or hell, or the underworld or whatever you believe in." He said this almost straight faced, though there was a hint of curiosity on his face. He was of course curious to see their reactions and didn't actually care whether they smoked or not.
It's a good thing I don't care about shame too much, otherwise I'd get embarrassed after saying something so random. Or maybe later when I think about what I said here, I'll die of shame. Oh well. Anyway, while confusing strangers is kinda fun, now that I've started a conversation, it's only polite to introduce myself.
"I'm Leo, if you need to put a name to the face of this crazy stranger."

Haruki glances at Leo while he was talking about smoking. He looks away for a moment so he can take a deep breath to recompose himself. Haruki looks back at Leo with a slight grin and says, "I do not smoke unfortunately, I hear that it is said to help relieve stress in some ways. It has been rude of me to not say anything, I am Haruki. It is a honor to meet you acquaintance."
Haruki pause for a few moments and asks, "Just out of curiosity, what company are you working for?"

Nothing huh, unless he's really good at playing innocent, Leo thought. He answered casually, "I work for RED. The mysterious company that no one knows anything about." Including me, Leo thought, but didn't say. "Don't worry about not talking, the atmosphere in this clinic isn't exactly conducive to chatter. So, who do you work for?" I'm willing to bet 10 euros that he works for the Creatures Inc., simply based on his appearance. I wouldn't say that out loud though, that'd be rude.

Oh, great. Banal conversation. At least with being alone, I know I'm in good company. She gives an inward sigh. Might as well make an effort to see what these stranieri know. If it's good, maybe it'll be worth something.
"I'll take one, if you're offering," she says, a bit dismissively, "but if you're asking if I have any, scusa, but you're out of luck." It doesn't seem as if she can say anything without doing some gesture or movement of her hands.
"Doesn't matter about what happens beyond life, anyways," she says, "You're defuncto. So enjoy what little time you have any way you can. I'll let you both know that for free."
"My names Alessa, if that'll keep you uomini happy," she says, after Haruki speaks. "But that's all you need to know." Ugh. Another one that talks about honour like it's the best thing on the planet.

"You will not be smoking in my clinic." An older lady walked into the clinic. She looked weathered and tired. A white medical coat was draped over her frame and a stethoscope around her neck. "I am sorry for the wait, we had to try to put a man's intestines back inside of him. This is worse than any war zone I've been to."
She signed and sat down, joining the group. In her arms was a clipboard. "I'm exhausted. I hope you do not mind me interviewing you three together. I just don't have time to do it individually. You won't need this every jump, but since this is your first time back, we have to make sure you are... ok."
"Question one: Were you in contact with any natives? Question two: Did you eat any foods while down in Xibalba? Question three: Did you speak with a god?" Her mouth twitched at the last question as if she thought it were hilarious. "These questions are to test your sanity and ability to return to Xibalba."

"Nice to meet you as well Alessa" Haruki then turns to the lady who asked the questions. Completely unphased by the comment of putting someones intestines back inside them answers her questions.
"I did not meet any natives. I didn't eat any of the food there." Looking at how the lady laughed at her comment knew that saying yes to the last one would make him sound crazy answered, "I did not see anyone that resembled of a god."
After looking answering the ladies questions he looks away from her. Luckily i didn't have to answer the question about the company I am from.

How the diamine did he get that it was nice for me to meet him? She inwardly shakes her head.
There's a hint of distaste on her face at the mention of having to put people's insides back... inside. Back home was much more... cultured... in their ways. The families tended to avoid spilling innards when they could.
"I didn't meet any natives, no. Not that I'd likely be able to talk with them even were I to speak at them." It's not likely that they'd now either the cultured tongue, nor the common one. As for the next question... "Well, I don't know if what I ingested could be called food... why?" she squints "Is it liable to kill me?" That would be... decidedly unfortunate.
To the last question, she actually laughs, though a little bitterly "Do you think that if I spoke with a god, I'd still be here?" She gestures to the area around her. "But, nope. Didn't see anyone godlike. Or, really, anyone at all."

"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Alessa," Leo said, only somewhat sarcastically, after the woman introduced herself. I wonder what an uomini is. Probably nothing nice.
Leo gave the old lady an apologetic smile for insinuating that someone was going to smoke. A man's intestines huh... that sounds hardcore. This place is just as dangerous as I thought. I need to acquire a set of knives again. Too bad I couldn't take mine with me through the airport.
Leo waited for the others to answer the doctor's questions. The answer to one of her questions was almost positive, but it was likely that they all had a negative effect on the 'ability to return to Xibalba'. You're making this too easy doctor, I don't even need to try to answer in a certain way to avoid being sent back home. I could have been vague, or I could outright lie, but it seems that won't be necessary. I hope. All I know is I need to get to Xibalba. I promised Desiree I would, and I'm not going to let a doctor stop me.
Quickly making his choice, Leo began to answer once it was his own turn. "I didn't meet any natives, I didn't eat any of the food and I didn't speak to any gods." Hopefully straight answers will give the illusion that I'm being honest. I am being honest of course, but I'm not being completely truthful either. Or should that be the other way around? Heh, doesn't matter, let's see what the doctor says.

The woman took notes as the others spoke. It was as if she was listening to the message between the words. Medical professionals that were well seasoned knew how to do that. It was crazy how often people lied to a nurse or a doctor, even when the lie could have the potential to kill them. NO, I don't ever drink. I'm a proper Christian. Well this medication could kill you if you have alcohol in your system. I've never drank in my life. Lets do a test just in case.
Just as it was with most her patients, the very tired woman could hear the answers that needed to be said. "We advise that you do not interact with beings of great power. It tends to lead to great bodily harm. The two of you who did not have food will need a pack of nutrition bars and will have to wait until tomorrow before jumping again, if you can find a team in that short amount of time. If you don't have any medical ailments or questions, you are free to go."

Haruki turns back to the lady with a smile and says, "Thank you ma'am, I do not need anything else. I would just like to check out and get moving." After saying that, Haruki gets up and dust off his tattered clothes. He then turns to Leo and Alessa and says, "It was an honor meeting you both." He then turns and gets ready to leave.

Oh, good, good. I can finally get out of here, she thinks. Suppose it could have been worse. They do seem to be pushing this "god" angle, though.
"Thank you for taking the time to make sure we're all fine," she says to the nurse, not really sounding entirely sincere. "Oh, I do have one question. Which way's the nearest to grab some real food from here?"

Leo gave the doctor an apologetic smile. "Saw right through me, huh," he said jovially, rather glad that he wouldn't be prevented from going to Xibalba. There was a little snag though, which was that he apparently needed some nutrition bars and had to wait a day. He also seemed to need a team.
He had some questions to ask, and lo and behold there was someone asking for them. "So, where do I get those nutrition bars from?" This question was asked both for his benefit and that of Haruki. Leo didn't know if the other man knew where to get them from either. Some actual food would be nice too, Leo thought. "Also, you said something about needing a team. Forgive my ignorance, but how many people usually make up a team and how do I join one?"

The doctor handed the two who had said they didn't eat anything a prescription for their nutrition bars. She then sat and continued to write as she answered the questions.
"You can get your bars from the front desk on the way out, free of charge this time. The closest restaurant is down main street next to the missions board." She sighed and sat up. "The companies have finally taken to my advice. They are no longer allowing people to jump unless they are in a three man group. This is for protection against the Gods, for the most part. There are many dangerous things down there, but the Gods are the ones that cause terrible messes for me to try to clean up. It forces you all to watch each other's back. The Gods never speak to people who aren't alone. Keep that in mind and good luck."
With that, she stood and exited the room, leaving the door open. The clinic was fairly small. It had three operating rooms, an open floor for patients recovering, the room the trio was currently in, and a lobby with the front desk that doubled as the pharmacy. At the front desk, no one has trouble getting what they need. The receptionist/pharmacist doesn't tend to say much. He takes the prescriptions and then administers medication. A man of few words.

Haruki nods to the lady and says, "Thank you for the prescription, and good luck with the rest of the people you have to put back together." He turns to the others and says, "If you need to find a team then you should have an easy time. There are plenty of foolish people willing to risk there lives for a chance at striking treasure. Unfortunately my team was able to make it back from there, so I too must find another." He gives a slight nod and smile and then looks away.
First I got my team for that mission killed and now the people that I found so I could escape to Xibalba died as well. Now I have to figure out how I am going to get out of the mess I am in now. Obviously Xibalba wasn't the answer I needed.

Well, that is... most unfortunate, she mentally admits. Not only am I going to actually have to spend prolonged periods of time with the people who chose to come here... they claim there are gods down there yet are actively dissuading us from trying to communicate.
She considers her options. One is to find people who are relatively competent. Eventually get enough information, treasure, whatever that could be considered acceptable to the company, and get out of here. The other... well, it's to just grab the first people she can find, and then ditch them somewhere in Xibalba. Because if there are gods down there... I'm sure that that'll be a much faster way out of here.
"I must find one in the first place. I never had a team. Honestly, I don't see the need, but, if it's a requirement, then I suppose I must find one. Now, I'm going to get some actual food. But, if you know anyone competent... feel free to point them my way." She gives a small smile to the others, bordering on whether it's sincere or not, before trying to get her bearings as to where the mission board is in relation to the clinic.

"Thank you for the info, ma'am, and for the prescription," Leo said smiling. He may be a fighting-addicted layabout, but his parents had drilled manners into him, so he was a somewhat cultured fighting-addicted layabout at least.
Leo heard what Haruki said and wasn't sure whether to smile or frown. It sounded like the guy had had a hard time here and before Xibalba. Sounded like he needed some cheering up. If Leo was Haruki, a good fight or two and somewhere to relax afterwards would help. But for that, Haruki would need a team. A light bulb went off in Leo's head and he grinned.
Leo walked over to Haruki and put an arm around the man's shoulders, unconcerned about invading his private space. "So, Haruki my new friend, from what I hear you're in sore need of a new team. Well, as it happens so am I. I'm not exactly here for the treasure, but I'm a fool anyway. How about we team up?" Leo gave Haruki a quick once over now that he was standing close to him. I guess whatever happened to his team must have left his clothes like this... Man as bad as I feel for this guy, the idea of something that can do this is getting my blood boiling.
C'mon, please say yes. From what the doctor - or was she a nurse? - said, it's hard to get a team together in only a day or so. This is way too convenient - darn does it make me feel like an ass to say it's convenient the guy's team died, but it is what it is - for me to not try and make a team happen as fast as possible. We'd only need one more person. Huh, maybe we can convince Alessa to join us after she's eaten. I'm not to keen on her attitude though... Eh, could be worse. I need to grab a bite to eat too anyway, now that I think about it, I'm hungry as hell.

I just told this man my whole team didn't make it and he still wants to team up. I figured that would sound like bad luck or make me see like a coward. Of course I already now the answer about the later. If I do join him, we would still need a third person. Maybe we can convince miss sassy pants over there to hop on board.
Haruki looks over to Leo and says, "Alright you convinced me, but we still need just one more person." Looks over to Alessa, "Perhaps you would want to partner up with us, considering that you don't have a team. It will save you the trouble a having to talk to other people, since it is obviously not your cup of tea."
Haruki takes a step back and switches between Alessa and Leo when saying, "You two can discuss the details over a good meal, as for me I need to get changed out of these ripped up clothes. I had a bit of a disagreement with a group of people before I jumped into Xibalba. I will either meet you at the restaurant later today if you are both still there, or we can meet at the Walmart tomorrow in the morning to get our supplies and come up with a game plan."
