The newly created scorched path continues to smolder as part of the group hops over it. The light in the previous room has dimmed slightly, but it's still quite bright. The creature does not appear to be following.

Falon comes to a deadstop just in front of Henry and Nithia and looks back, relieved to see that the monster isn't following them. "Let's not go that way. That way isn't a fun route." He points to the north path that probably loops back on the earlier path. "Let's go there instead. There seems like a much better place to be."
He just now bothers to actually look at his companions, and notices Nithia freaking out on the floor. He crouches down to be on eye level with her. "You okay? You seem somewhat shaken up," he asks, concerned.

She nods slowly, still a bit rattled from the whole massive destructive beam of energy and destroyed trees falling in the forest and tries to stand, shaking just a tiny bit. She had never really... experienced power like that before. She was just used to her books. Most books didn't have power like that. She nods slowly towards Falon, trying to hide her shaking, momentarily forgetting that he's a ghost. "Y-yeah... just... loud." Hopefully her Lunarian ears would be a good excuse...

Falon smiles slightly. "Good. Don't want you breaking down now, do we?" He looks back the way he came. "Doesn't seem like we're being followed. Let's keep it that way and move on that way." He gestures again to the northern path, before moving in that direction, though not sprinting, moving slow enough for the others to keep up.

As the party begins moving north, the bright light behind them continues to dim until there is no trace of the previous events aside from the new, still slightly scorching, path to the north east. Content to leave it be, the party's northern march allows them to spot a small room to the left with a search point.

Merit follows the party in silence, thinking about the powerful beam attack that nearly hit Falon and himself. 'I could almost see what that beast was, but I didn't risk another look,' Merit thought to himself. 'What if that extra look could have identified the beast?'When the party approached the path to the small room with a search point, Merit speaks up. "I'll take a look inside." Merit walks in, keeping a careful eye out as he goes to harvest the search point. Merit rolls an 18 for the Search Point

Henry nodded, a bit startled from the giant beam of energy that almost seared off his face to respond right away. Now, having gathered himself, he let out a nervous chuckle. "Well, I suppose we should note whatever did THAT on the map... And I'll provide support from here Merit. I think this room should be fine though..." He unslung his bow from his back, notching an arrow and glancing around the room. Seems adventuring was a tad more dangerous than he'd first thought...

Nithia peaks into the room somewhat timidly. At this point she wasn't sure she trusted any of these rooms. She was feeling a bit unbalanced, but she'd rather her friends had protection than not. She closes her eyes and concentrates for a moment as two matching citrine rings on each of her fingers begins glowing. A few seconds later the entire party is covered in a warm light, ready to shield from mystical energy at a moment's notice if it was needed. Nithia uses Light Screen! Everyone now is covered by the Light Screen blessing, and may activate it to resist Special Damage by one step for the rest of the floor.

Falon hops up and down, waiting impatiently for the group to continue moving. "Come on come on come on! Adventure is ahead! Grab the stuff and let's go!"
He smiles at Nithia as he feels the power of her magic flowing over him. "Thanks Nithia!"

As merit detours to the small room, the search point glows gently and the vitas spirals to a central point. The glow subsides leaving behind two pieces of slate and two pieces of granite. As you exit the room you hear a bit of a static like noise emanating from your guild rings. kshhh kshsh "Hello? Hello. Oh it looks like I finally got through. I can finally see your vitals again, I was worried for a bit but it looks like you're all... mostly fine. Anyways, I hope your exploration is going well. I forgot to mention that certain paths might be inaccessible at the moment and even though there are also hidden pathways, you don't need to worry about those for your first mapping mission. It's less about completing the map and more about learn to map. See you back the base soon!" "Pre-recorder message 1! By Sariah (best assistant ever) Redwood! . . . Hi everyone I pre-recorded this message into your rings to activate the first time Farina sends you a message. Aside from acting as your link back to the guild HQ in an emergency, Farina is able to send you messages through the rings, but you cannot send any back. That is all. Oh wait, bring me stuff!"

Falon jumps up when he hears the message. They were almost done! Maybe... possibly... depends on how much they could reach at the moment... ... Almost done!
"You hear that guys!? Let's go and finish up all that we can and head back!" With that, he once again darts of north to the end of the path, though he - in an uncharacteristically wise move - stays put there for now, just checking out to see what's there.

Henry listens to the message, and levels a look at Falon. You know the one. THAT one. The one that says "Boy I will lay you out right here." Instead of saying that, he merely nodded. "I agree that we should make as complete a map as possible right now, BUT. You need to calm down, and stay with the group. I don't know what you and Merit did that caused that enormous energy blast, but I'd like to avoid a repeat of the incident. We need to stick together for our own safety. These kinds of places are more dangerous than any of us were expecting, and I should know, I almost lost an eye to those birds." He nodded, following the exciteable man at a moderate pace, updating his map.

Slipping his finds into the sling bag, Merit walks back to the waiting group. Just before he starts to speak, the rings begin to crackle, and their guild leader gives them a message. After Falon and Henry speak, Merit nods. "I agree. We need to stick and work together to stay in one piece." Merit sighs briefly, running his hand though his hair. "At any rate, I found some slate and granite at the search point, so it's most likely a mining spot, which should be noted."
Merit follows behind Henry, adjusting his bag for the newly added weight of the material.

The northern path leaves a rather dull impression as it leads back to the original door that the team crossed to get here in the first place. However, a small berry bush containing a few berries can easily be seen between the trees. Should you decide to grab the berries, there are 3 oran berries.

Merit hums. "A berry bush. I don't have much room left in my bag," he says, gesturing to his nearly bulging bag. Merit walks over to the bush and plucks the berries, slipping one into his bag. Holding up the remaining two, he asks, "Could someone take these for me?"

Henry nods, placing them inside his own bag. "I lightened my own load earlier, so I don't mind at all. I think we should just need to head west from here to connect back to our original path... Should we risk heading north, or call it a day and leave?" He left the question hanging as he slowly began to walk forward, intent to get the group at least back to the river before making any decisions.

"Honestly, I'm not that tired," Merit said. "A bit twitchy from earlier, but still ready and willing to continue. Wasn't there a door we haven't been through yet? We could map that before we head back."

Falon nods. "Yeah, no quiting now! Let's go ahead!" He proceeds by walking over to the door, waiting for the others to catch up.

Nithia smiles dreamily as the group goes decides to finish exploring. "The more we explore, the greater chance I'll find a winged catrian or a silken fruit." Speaking of them, she had forgotten to look for them! Her eyes immediately begin to dart around, looking up and not at all at the ground, making it very likely she would trip in the near future.

The door leading to the north appears as staggeringly tall as the previous one. There are no notable differences between this door and the still opened door that you used to go south earlier. Across the lake you can still see a few trees ripped from their roots as you noted earlier when first crossing this area.
