"Did it come through here, too?" No formality from Cecily over on the feet end of Icarus. Clearly, if it did, it didn't affect all warforged, since Oakfell was still on his feet. She's half addressing him and half talking to Quincy, in the vague hope that the Libellan ambassador and the odd impression she had of him being older than he looked might have memories of something like this.
Quietly, she added, "I hope he's alright. He's been a big help so far." It's a bit pointed, but she remembered that Oakfell had been riding Icarus kind of hard.

Tarkuul focused on getting Icarus secured on the Gogoat while the others gave their stories, mulling over the event in her head. Karga sniffed the Gogoat curiously, though with her trainer so down, she wasn't her usual hyper self.
"...Whatever it was, it wasn't natural. Purple light, weaving through the trees like a tidal wave. It came from the northwest from our position, and I'm concerned it's related to the obelisk, but getting Icarus back to safety was our top priority. You can see why."

Oakfell nodded slowly and despite a lack of the expression on his face, an air of worry came through with his words. "It's not something that has happened before, the wave came over us and it seems to have affected a number of the Warforged in Pinecliffe, although others are left standing... I have a theory, but for the moment I am unsu-"
As if on cue, he is cut off, a Satyr coming from behind him. Odd, it seemed like he hadn't moved between the gates to stand with the group, but as if he just appeared from the very shadow Oakfell cast. "Your theories were correct, Oakfell, the scryers have just managed to look over Lotus City..."
Oakfell nodded slowly and turned back to the party, looking over all of them before speaking again. "As you may all know, the Warforged through our time have had a number of versions, generations we like to call them. From the Generation One's that were built by other races simply as a way to command Pokemon, to the everyday ones you see who act independently, like myself and Icarus." He explained, and as he spoke, the weariness of the wooden creature seemed more apparent, he did not glow as he had during the ceremony, "The first lot of this second generation run on something we call the Arcanometer, a creation in Lotus City. If something were to happen to it, well, you've seen what happens. The second lot of the generation were fitted with smaller versions of the same, which keeps us going, it is apparent that Icarus was not one of those..."
He looks solemnly down at the Warforged lying on the Gogoat for a moment, his words quieter. "Thank you for bringing him back to me... if nothing else it shows you were a good choice of a team, that you'd look out for one another, but he cannot be revived until that Arcanometer is working once more. I know we promised a celebration upon your return, however, I'd like to request that your first step into your mission is to go to Lotus City, and find out what is troubling them there, to have caused this."

Eli's face is solemn as Oakfell describes the problem. "We'll make all haste to Lotus City, and try to get to the bottom of this mess, right ladies?" He turns to regard the remnants of the group. "At the very least several extra sets of hands probably wouldn't go amiss in the uproar that I imagine is going on there right now." He looks to the other members of the group. "If we rest up tonight and leave on the morrow, we should be in fighting shape. Do either of you have any other suggestions or questions?"

Well, it wasn't the obelisk...But this wasn't exactly any better. Tark mulled over the situation as Eli rambled on about something, then nodded. "Sounds fine. Ambassador Oakfell, is there anything we should know going into Lotus City? Such as a person or group we can contact, important locations, or what to expect in the area?"

"Of course we'll go." It's not as if they weren't planning on going there eventually anyway, and now they have a good reason besides just the quest. She tilts her head slightly when Eli addresses them as 'ladies,' looking amused - Cecily's never been accused of being ladylike.
She crosses her lower arms. "Hopefully we'll have him back on his feet soon. Is there anything we should look out for in the city? Any sort of trouble that might be going on, if someone tried to take advantage of the... event?" If they were scrying the city, they might have spotted some large-scale problem in the wake of whatever happened. No one ever said warforged were immune to politics.

Oakfell began to speak in such a way as to suggest an urgency, but stopped himself as if remembering that people need rest and food before continued journies. He nods and turns to beckon you all, explaining on the way to where you'll all be staying. "Reconcilia are the lands you'll be going into to get to Lotus City, and the best people to contact and try to ally yourselves with will be the Academy of Advanced Technology, it isn't the government but it will have people more willing to lend a hand than hold themselves up." He says, and there's a little sneer in his voice from mentioning government. "You can expect some chaos, but mostly it should just be things that have stopped working or shut down, the only thing I would be careful of are the Hobgoblins of Kanobo in the area, we have a degree of peace with them but this could be an opportunity for some of their number."
The Wily Linguist doesn't look like much from the outside, it's big certainly but the walls look like stone that has had many different kinds of pots thrown at it until some stuck. It's eerily silent from the outside but as soon as Oakfell opens the door a roar of sound from people singing and drinking rushes out. Stillgust also enters behind him, arms crossed and ducking to get inside. The other two ambassadors wait until you enter before making their way inside. There's an assortment of people from an Ursine playing chess against an Elf and her little Oddish, to a group of Kobolds and Satyrs who've placed bets on which of two Slowpoke will wake up last. You walk over to the bar where a Fetchling manages to seemingly serve everyone who comes to the bar at once. Oakfell continues to answer any questions you may have, and pays for your rooms, and once you are finished, each of your ambassadors wish for a word. Individually, they ask you to bring out the trinket you all brought with you from home and show them.

If Oakfell wasn't anticipating internal trouble, Warforged politics were apparently less... interesting than Cecily had feared. Not that she liked political messes, of course, but at least crazy was better than boring. Though Oakfell's apparent disdain for the actual government was interesting. "Through Reconcilia to Lotus City, ask at Academy of Advanced Technology, watch out for Hobgoblins making trouble," she echoed, just to make sure she had the idea down. Her voice had gone short and clipped, and she shut her mandibles at the end of the sentence with an audible click.
The nice thing about having eyes that take up a full quarter of your head, as Cecily had reflected before, was that it made rubbernecking a lot less obvious. It wasn't like she'd grown up completely isolated or anything, but she'd never seen anything like the mass of different races in the Wily Linguist.
She waited around for a moment, in case Tarkuul or Eli had something pertinent to ask, but she didn't think she had any questions of her own for the moment. When question time was over, she went to meet with Quincy, digging out her... well, 'trinket' was very definitely the best way to describe the eclectic object she pulled out of her bag. It was more of a scrapbook than anything - a little globe made of a patchwork of eggshell, some Libellan, some Yanma, and a few sticks from a nest deep in a poisonous marsh (dried out and thoroughly non-toxic now - the sticks, that is). While she was thinking of it, she added a few shed Cherubi leaves she'd picked up when she caught Ebulliens; the trinket was a record she kept of her Pokémon, in a way. "What do you want to see this old thing for? I wouldn't have thought anyone but me was interested in it."

Eli's questions to the Warforged Ambassador center around best routes to take, weather and other hazards that they might encounter beyond just the Hobgoblins, and any places he recommends stopping at on the way. "We're not going to make it there overnight after all, and who knows what we may have to circumnavigate along the way. Hell, once I ended up taking a week to get back from a three-day patrol due to a Beedrill swarming that covered miles."
The half-dragon seems to take the mix of entities in the bar in stride easily, though even he's looking around a little more actiely than he would have back in the Confederation, committing it all to memory. Following Stillgust into a corner, he arches a brow, but fishes the Aerodactyl Fang necklace from under his tunic, showing it to the minotauress. "I'm not sure exactly why you want to see it. I mean it's kind of a personal memento more than anything; even if I did get a commendation from Commander Leomund."

Tarkuul remained relatively quiet, listening as Eli asked the questions she was preparing to and mentally mapping out the route in her head. Shouldn't be too dangerous, even with the hobgoblins about, though she'd need to keep Na'tok in her rune to stay chilled. Karga should be fine, as Tark could cut her fur if she got too warm.
The inn...Almost reminded her of some of the parties she attended back in the mixed village she studied in. There had been some live and varied folk there as well, though not quite as numerous or varied as this place. She gave a few glances around, but played it cool. Jartok, however, was giving shouts to some of the regulars, who seemed to know him well, and even winked at the bartender. Once again, she remained quiet and observant, until the old fart Ambassador Jartok pulled her aside and spoke with her in Orcish.
"Ha, isn't this place great? Such character! But, there are more important matters to attend to. Tarkuul, can you show me your Hunt trophy?" Tarkuul nodded and removed the unmelting ice shard from around her neck, letting the elder examine it. Unlike the others, she didn't question why he needed to see it; she assumed a blessing or simply a desire to be reminded of the Hunt.

Despite the noisiness in the tavern, your elders manage each to take you to a quiet part to talk, well, all bar Jartok who had no qualms with speaking loudly over a drink he'd managed to swipe jovially from a nearby Elf who didn't at least seem too fussed about it. They each give you the same spiel, although in their own, very different ways. "You're no stranger to the magic in this world, it manifests in all of us in one way or another, with Pokemon, this seems more obvious, each have their categories in one form or another." They each gesture to their own Pokemon, Stillgust has brought out a Crobat she has used for scouting in the past, Quincy's Forretress joined him as a floating shield in battle, and Jartok brought out a Poliwrath that had a look of ice around the knuckles. "They embrace elemental forces and it becomes part of their makeup, and even those who seem without such a connection at first show their own power." Each Pokemon is returned after brief thanks. "Some of this magic is in flux, as you may have seen in your travels and trials in the past, connections that seem off from the standard, this can sometimes be explained on location, the magic that lies in the earth and air itself," at this point, Jartok addresses Karga with a smile, "but there are corruptions, and spells that twist these connections, or even just special cases. The point is, magic is in the world, and it is within myself, and within you." They each take your trinkets, they look it over in their hands for a while, inspecting it closely. "Magic also can be found in items, as I'm sure you're aware. Many speak of items of power," "Like a shield made of Charizard scales that unleashes a gout of flame on those that strike it." Adds Steelgust. "Tales of a sword wrapped in the bandages of a Congarigus that allows one to walk through walls." Murmurs Quincy. "I once saw someone with a keg that he said held the ice of a dozen Cyrogonal that never ran out of ale." Jokes Jartok. They smile and in a moment, a light shines from inside them, and moves into the trinket, which glows ever so slightly, and then this light, you notice, comes from yourselves too. It shines. "You have a powerful trinket with you, and I am sure if you keep it with you, it will serve you well." Cecily - Whenever you are flanking with your own Pokemon, you or that Pokemon can use the move Helping Hand as a free action. Tarkuul - Once a day, when you use Mist you may choose to activate your trinket. Allies effected by this resist Fighting, Rock, Steel and Fire typed damage for as long as the Blessing is up. Eli - You can activate your trinket once per day to grant you a pair of spectral wings, giving you a Sky Speed of four for the rest of the scene, or a few minutes out of combat.
You gain one Trainer Level - You gain 40 XP to share amongst your Pokemon as you see fit. Once this has finished, they smile, and will answer any questions you might have, and eventually leave you to your own devices. You have an opportunity to do as you wish, talk amongst yourselves, or head up to rest. Either way, the new day will come soon, and you'll set out officially on your journey.

Tarkuul listened carefully, Karga sitting beside her on the floor as she sensed important things happening. Upon being smiled at, Karga floofed her chest fur up to look more impressive. Once again, it didn't work. As for Tark, she knew well of magic, having heard similar things from a Grodash shaman as she was inducted as an Ice Warden. A narrower focus, of course, and mostly focusing on the magic inside orcs, but still. She had also seen blessings and the shaman's magic-infused spear, namely at festivals, though this was certainly new...Once the little ritual was complete, Tarkuul took her trinket and returned it to her neck, taking note of the slight difference the magic made.
Tark briefly wondered exactly what kind of magic was at work regarding her trinket...Though it didn't really matter. She dismissed herself and headed upstairs, while Jartok got (willingly) dragged into a drinking contest. It had been a long day, and the orc looked forward to getting some peace and quiet. Her door remained unlocked, just in case Eli or Cecily needed her, though she did strip down to her basics. Karga hopped up onto the bed as her trainer undressed, and Tark let Na'tok and Horuun out to socialize and relax.

Cecily nods slowly as Quincy speaks. Of course, a dragoon of all people knows about the world's magic, and she knows the ambient magic of the marshes makes some of its resources valuable for creating items with unusual properties, though Cecily doesn't know much about it in any specific terms.
Her folded arms drop to her sides in surprise when the ambassador starts to glow, clearly enchanting her little keepsake - and she's even more surprised when the light begins to shine from her as well, dazzling her eyes slightly. She takes the patchwork bauble back with an awed look, watching the way the light flickers and spreads differently through the different materials. The point of a finger traces a line where her and Draco's eggshells meet slowly. "Ah, thank you. I don't know what to say, really." As if she wasn't going to keep this close, anyway.
She bows to Quincy formally, folding all four arms across her chest, and slips away to settle into her room. She finds herself a basin of water for her Pokémon to relax around, knowing Ebulliens will probably want it as much as Praelia does, and lets the three of them out to get to know each other properly. She'll most likely be moving between her room and the common room for a while if Eli or Tark feels the need to find her, but she turns in early. After all, they've got a long journey to start in the morning.

Eli gently takes the necklace back, handling it with more care and reverence than when he'd handed it over initially. Magic items weren't uncommon, per-say, but they tended towards the very utilitarian or specialized in the Confederacy. This... this sounded like much more, especially the bit about the power of the item growing alongside his own. Attuned magical items were the stuff of legends... usually because the person wielding them was preforming legendary feats, but still... This was a step in a new direction, beyond being just a Ranger. "Thank you for this. I'll do my best to make the Confederacy proud." His eyes are shining slightly before he rubs the moisture out of them. Someone must have walked past with a smoked herring, those things always made him tear up with the smell...
Eli spends the next several minutes tucked away in a corner by himself, simply running his fingers over the necklace to get a feel for how it had changed, before finally heading upstairs, letting his mon out to sleep in his room. After a moment of consideration, he heads for Tarkuul's room rather than bedding down himself. Nudging the door and finding it opens with no resistance, he moves in with a light knock. "Hey Tark, wanted to talk to you about our travel plaaa...." He stops in the door when he sees the state of dress Tark is in, or rather the state of undress. "Um, wow. Oh jeeze, sorry, I didn't, that is... He stumbles over his words a little as he closes the door with a kick of his heels, though he doesn't take his eyes away from her.

"It's fine. You mentioned travel plans, I believe?" Tark seemed completely unfazed by Eli's entrance, and raised an eyebrow at Eli's stammering and staring. The other races were so strange in regards to nudity, or even anything close to nudity in this case. She hoped Cecily was more normal, at least.
Karga looked up and gave a friendly bark to the half-dragon, before sniffing around the room again to smell all the new smells. Horuun sniffed Na'tok curiously, though yelped and stepped back in surprise after the Cubchoo's cold paw touched her nose. Na'tok made apologetic sounds, but Horuun buried himself inside the bedsheet.

Eli gives himself a little shake, muttering something to himself. "Get hold of yourself you stupid lizard, this isn't even as bad as the Harpy incident, and she hasn't thrown anything at you..." before nodding at the orc. "Yes, I wanted to get your opinion on how we should proceed, given our... well I guess calling it a quest is an apt description. I was going to ask Cecily next, but she seems to have already gone to sleep... anyway, I was thinking that Denerim might have some good information on the state of the roads and possible dangers we might face on our way to the Warforged lands; and wanted to see if you ladies were amenable to stopping there to talk to the locals there before heading onwards to the keep."
He'll absently lean down to give Karga a scritch along the ears when the pup sniffs about, but he's keeping his eyes on Tark's face... mostly.

Tark chose to ignore whatever he just said, and thought for a few moments about his proposal. "Hm. Sounds decent enough, though we'll need to make the detour as quick as we can; Ambassador Oakfell, Icarus, and countless other Warforged are counting on us, after all." She suggested, taking a seat on the bed between Na'tok and the cover lump that was her Zigzagoon. Karga wagged her tail happily at the ear scritches, like the little puppy she was.

A rather droopy Cecily appears in the doorway around now. "Some of us are trying to sleep, you know," she grumbles, shaking her head as she tries to straighten up. "Are we discussing travel plans? When nobody said anything I expected it to wait until morning."
She takes in the scene before her for a moment before turning her head back to Eli to focus on his expression. Oh, right, other races had that... thing about clothes. "I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" she asks, sounding vaguely amused. "I'd have thought this wouldn't be the best night for it, personally. We do rather need to get going in the morning."

Eli fights down the flush that creeps up his neck, but it's a losing battle. "N-nothing of the sort, I assure you, I merely thought you had already retired for the night when I had a thought about possible travel plans. You've not interrupted anything at all like that," he waves his hands as if to dispel the question from the air like smoke.
Getting better control over his fluster, he continues, "I thought it might be a good idea to stop at Denirim before we continued onwards to the Keep to get information and potentially stock up on supplies we might need is all, and wanted to discuss it tonight so we could set out straight away in the morning."

Tark's only response to Cecily's accusation was a raised eyebrow and a look that translated across species as 'Are you fucking kidding me?'. "It's a good idea, but we'll need to make it as quick as possible so we can get to Lotus City sooner." Tark pointed out again, remembering that there were a lot of Warforged that were counting on them. Horuun poked his nose out of the sheet pile, while Na'tok crawled up into Tark's lap and got comfy.
