You all spot more signs, leading you to a definite conclusion that something large came through here. Trees themselves seem to have been pushed back, branches almost crushed rather than just broken in two. The dips from where you left the goblins are obvious, as well footprints going to each of them. No more than the footprints leave however, as if they've been taken away instead of revived and walked with whatever came through here. Additionally, bar the injuries you gave them, there's no additional splatters of blood or anything similar, signalling nothing predatory, nothing as if something had just eaten everything around. The footprints are deep, and following them would be somewhat simple if not for the underbrush and newly fallen leaves, perhaps forcefully fallen, covering them. They go off the path, to the left of where you are. Of course, the rest of the path in front of you is empty, with lack of Pokemon or Goblin. You note with Pokemon Education that none of these tracks are left by a Pokemon. Perhaps they could be similar to those of a Slaking, or Magmar if for a lack of fire or cinders. Karga looks like he's caught some kind of scent of whatever it is...

Eli frowns, before nodding at the broken path. "As much as it pains me to say it, we should probably investigate. This is far more than a simple band of goblin raiders if they have an ally of such size waiting in the wings, and the townspeople will need to be appraised of it, if for no other reason than to prepare themselves appropriately." He looks to the others then.
"Of course as we're to travel as a group, I can hardly make that decision for all of you. What do you think?" Prowl sniffs at one of the fallen branches and hisses slightly, hackles still up. He at least doesn't like the situation at all.

Praelia is trembling a little, her fingers clenching and unclenching - though with a Croagunk it's hard to tell whether that's fear or just anticipation of a fight. Cecily rests a hand on her head gently. "You're right, of course. I should warn you that stealth is not exactly my strong suit, but we need to be able to tell them something more than 'there's something big out there'."
That's two of them. She turns toward Tark and Icarus. "What do you two think?"

Tark was already moving branches and following the footprints, Karga following behind her and sniffing all the way. She called back as the others discussed what she was already doing. "Come on, we haven't got all day. The sooner we get intel, the sooner we can get back."

Icarus shrugs, his plates locking a little in place before settling down again, and he walks after Tarkuul with a strange chuckle emanating from him. The trees become more dense as you walk deviate from the path, but that seems to just make the space where the creature has gone all the more noticeable. It doesn't go all too far, and it doesn't take long to work out why. You come across a part of the forest where it looks like with some work, trees have been pulled over, creating a kind of small canopy, a little shelter. It moves and shifts slightly as you can see something inside moving around, whatever it is doing is still unknown to you.

Cecily watches the mound warily, stepping off to one side in hopes of flanking whatever's hidden under the canopy. She glances back at the others - well, turns her head to do it. Sure, she can look at them without turning her head much, but it's better when they know she's looking at them. The unspoken question is whether she should do what she's about to do... though whether that gets across is another question entirely.
Slowly, she starts to edge toward the mound. If nothing changes before she reaches it, and no one stops her, she leans out and prods it gently with the blunt end of her spear.

Eli's face twists into a frown. He'll try to get a good look at whatever is moving inside the canopy from a distance, and when Cecily begins moving forward, he'll hold up a hand, motioning for her to stop. Turning to Prowl, he makes a series of gestures and signals. The Meowth doesn't look happy at all, but nods in understanding, and begins to creep through the trees, not a whisper of sound as he slunk from hiding spot to hiding spot, moving to get a good look through a break in the canopy structure. Provided he makes it there and back again without being seen, he'll make a series of scratches in the nearest patch of dirt, a series of lines representing how many beings are in the enclosure, followed by a rough scratch outline to give the group an idea of what they may be facing.
Prowl Stealth roll: 15, Stealth Capability makes him completely silent on approach and retreat.

Stealth was NOT Tark's speciality. Karga was a bit sneakier, being a small dark-colored puppy, but she stuck by her trainer's side as the group approached. Tark hung back while the others went poking about, ready to jump in if necessary. She didn't like the looks of this, but hopefully this was simply a harmless creature...Perhaps a big healer helping the goblins out our of kindness, or at least a beast stuffed full of goblin meat and docile as a result.

Icarus keeps his distance beside Tarkuul, whispering slightly to her. "Exciting, isn't it?"Prowl seems to almost disappear in between trees and bushes as the inspection begins. It's silent for a few moments before the Meowth comes back. Markings are made in the dirt. A tally mark, and three Z's. Prowl continues to sketch out an image of sorts, it looks kind of like a Goblin's face, but bigger, a larger body that'd dwarf a typical persons. You understand what it is inside now, a Bugbear. Prowl finishes the markings with a circle, to show the Bugbear is moving around and could be facing in any direction.

Cecily has rejoined the group now, since Eli very sensibly waved her off and sent someone actually sneaky to scout out the area. The marks Prowl reports with aren't quite like the ones Libellans might use, but they're close enough that she can work it out, at least she thinks so.
"Our three goblins, I'm guessing, and... is that meant to be a bugbear? Great." Her voice is low and tense, and her hands tighten on the shaft of her spear. "Is he saying the goblins are still out? Makes things easier. I say we gang up on the big guy, hit him hard and fast before he knows what's going on. Best case, we don't even let him get a Pokémon into play, but even if he does, that's eight of us to two of them."

Eli nods distractedly as he studies the markings that Prowl has scratched out. "The goblins are likely either asleep or still knocked out at the moment. Even if they're asleep, we should be able to hit them hard and fast. Plus with another pokemon apiece, we've got more options." He looks up, studying the clearing and the canopy hut for a moment. "Our best option may be an ambush. One of us lures the big fellow out by feigning distress, the rest of us dogpile him as soon as he sets foot outside. Alternatively..." a spark of fire begins dancing on one fingertip, "we smoke him out. Though that risks destroying anything of potential value he has squirreled away in the place. Your call on which plan to use.

Tark joined the group as Prowl scratched out the report - she should teach Karga that trick sometime - and thought for a moment. "Well, I know a bit of the language. Enough to sound like another goblin calling for help outside, at least. I'm a terrible liar, but I don't think bugbears are that smart, anyway." She suggested. "I wouldn't try smoking him out, though, since you'll probably start a forest fire and cause more damage than the goblins ever could."

Eli nods. "Sounds like the plan to go with then. Prowl and I will strike from the left," he indicated the direction, and if nothign further is discussed, will move over slightly. Once in position, he gestures for Tark to proceed.

"Then Praelia and I will take the right." And hope the pincer movement keeps the bugbear from doing something unfortunate like going straight up the middle and trampling Tark and Icarus before they can stop it. Cecily starts to edge around in that direction, Praelia padding after her with that creepy grin plastered across her face again.

Tark stepped a ways away, cleared her throat, and recalled some of the basic goblin phrases from her studies. On second thought, trying to lie might not work out so well...Perhaps the sound of the language itself would be enough? Kry'tok's wings, she hoped so. Karga stood at the ready beside her, getting serious again. "Hey! Anyone home?" She called in the goblin tongue, plenty loud enough for the big guy to hear. Tark rolled a 10 for Charm.

There is some stirring in the hut, and a low slow rumbling that stops and starts, as if counting. "One.... two.... three..... one.... twoooo......." It stops and the Bugbear stops moving around for a tense moment before moving outside of the hut. It looks around, searching for the source of the noise. The creature is tall, and broad but not fat, it seems to have kept fit enough, but not clean as can be seen from splatters of dirt and blood. It's hair is matted, and moves into a long beard where webbing also joins it. Hoveled inside the hair and webbing is a Joltik, about as grubby looking as the Bugbear itself. It also seems to wield a large mace and shield that've seen some days of battle. It has a small pack around its waist, where bandages seem to be draping out of. It looks around, sniffing at the air, but it doesn't seem to have noticed any of you. "Gobbo!?"

As soon as the Bugbear and its passenger appear, Eli makes a gesture at Prowl, and the little feline powers forward on silent feet, springing from the grass and slapping the Bugbear across the chops with a velvet paw. Eli springs forth immediately afterwards, moving up and spitting fire at the little Joltik in its nest of hair and webbing that splashes out to smack the Bugbear in the face as well. Eli Speed: 15 Prowl Speed: 15 Prowl uses Fake-Out +1AP targeting Bugbear as Priority AC 2: 3 24 physical Normal Damage, Bugbear is flinched if hit
Eli uses Flame Burst, targeting Joltik AC 2: 12 20 Special Fire Damage, cardinally adjacent targets lose 5 HP

Cecily would like to be impressed by Eli demonstrating his draconic heritage, but she's a little busy. Once the flames clear, she darts in, slashing low across the bugbear's legs with the sharp point of her spear. She buzzes as she moves, her wings whirring as if to actually help speed her along... but in fact, it's mostly meant as a distraction, drawing attention to herself instead of Praelia, who's a bit slower off the mark. Praelia follows Cecily into the fray just as silently as Prowl approached earlier... until she suddenly leaps up and slaps the Joltik with a loud battle cry. It may not be a terribly powerful strike, but coming entirely out of nowhere as it does it could very well be very startling. Cecily's Speed: 10 Praelia's Speed: 3
Cecily attacks the bugbear with Wounding Strike! 13 vs AC 2, 27 Physical Normal damage. On hit, target loses a tick of HP. Ignores up to 4 points of Damage Reduction. Praelia attacks the Joltik with Astonish! 18 vs AC 2, 17 Physical Ghost damage. Target is unaware of user's presence, so Astonish automatically flinches on hit. (This only happens once a scene but I'm using it now.)

While the others went for a more direct approach, Tark and her canine companion prepared. A familiar, chilling mist swirled up from the ground around the battlefield, clinging to her companions and their pokemon in particular, brought forth by her orcish chant. This was paired with a howl from Karga to give her strength, the puppy moving forward towards the fray afterwards. Tark used Mist; party members can nullify combat stage changes 3 times total, 3 uses left. Karga used Howl, giving her +1 Attack CS, and she moved towards the bugbear/Joltik. If Karga's adjacent to the bugbear/Joltik, Teamwork is in effect and everyone moving after her would get +2 accuracy to melee attacks.
Tark's Speed: 11 Karga's Speed: 10

Eli and Prowl moved fast to strike at the Bugbear, but Prowl fell just a little behind his trainer as the shield was raised just in time to avoid the blow, but the Joltik wasn't so lucky. The flames that exuded from Eli hit the creature and then spread across the Bugbear's beard, causing both to panic and flail around wildly. The Joltik was ready to fight back though, annoyed at the burst of flame, it let off a stream of eletrical energy followed by a Wave of Thunder directed at Eli. The appearance of Tarkuul and Karga surprised the Bugbear also and it dashed around with beady eyes trying to take everything that was happening in, an easy target for Cecily to strike. It howled out as the polearm struck it, causing it to bleed profusely. Icarus flurried his sword as some kind of distraction, keeping some distance between himself and the Bugbear, Amazon next to him, he seemed ready to strike with some vim and vigor, waiting for the right opportunity. The Bugbear slammed the mace down on Cecily with a Bash! and roared at her as if to Unnerve. That was the moment, Amazon stepped in and struck the Bugbear with great force and just managed to hit it, with a little resistance. Cecily's distraction did indeed work, however, as Praelia went unnoticed as the sudden appearance and strike on the Joltik seems to have left it flustered. Something stirs in the hut... Joltik used Thunder Wave on Eli - Cannot Miss, Eli is Paralyzed.
Bugglug the Bugbear used Bash! on Cecily - AC 10, 28 Normal Damage. Bugglug the Bugbear used Unnerve - Cecily cannot gain Postive Combat Stages or trade in Digestion Buffs for 1 Round. Icarus used Swords Dance and has increased his Attack 2CS. Amazon used Mach Punch and hit the Bugbear.
