The absol is sent hurtling towards the loose ring of dedenne onlookers where the opening allows Sanga and Pride to score another pair of solid blows. Seizing the opportunity, the bold pirate sends a pokeball flying in, and his aim is true. . . but as it nears the quarry, it flashes with a pale violet light and fails to engage its capture mechanism! The absol struggles to its feet from where it was sent flying and does its best to meet Pride head-on. RsVfBcKY1d20 versus AC 2 for 2d6+26 physical dark damage! The Aron looked around as it was released, somewhat confused, but understood what he was asked to do. Running as fast as its heavy metal body can carry it, it bravely joined the Snivy in the assault, splashing some mud at the big bad Absol to catch their attention.

The absol recoils as dirt is flung at its face, then glowers at the offensive little aron. It lashes out twice, then realizing its getting little done, dashes back towards the tree, scratching at Pride and Sanga on its way to attack Aethus once more! It seems more concerned with the humiliation of being sent flying than the indignity of an attempted capture! Ruruo let out a shrill whistle, again directing Sanga's focus after the Absol. If he didn't stay on the lil sprite it's attention tended to stray. Floating into a flanking position, the small form wriggled further out of it's cloud cover, to exhale a spray of bubbles over the Absol.

Pride dives in the way of the attack going for Aethus, trying to keep his noble charge protected. Heavens knows how upset his parents were last time he scuffed his perfect knees...
Aethus grunts to Pride as his own form of thanks before stabbing out viciously with his Rapier.

Three more solid, powerful blows crash down onto the Absol. Its faltering now, and staggers slightly after being struck by Sanga and Ruruo. . . after Aethus' imperious blow, it almost collapses. Suddenly, it seems a lot less magical. . . more like a pokemon and less like a force of nature. For all its defiance, it looks like the harbinger of ill fortune may have finally been brought down to the mortal plane.Initiative Ruruo's intended Mach Punch! His allies seemed greatly wounded, both in part to his enemy's outstanding strength and his inaction. Perhaps he should've acted more, but even if he was a little reluctant, now was not the time to regret - it was a time to act! The enemy seemed weakened just as much as his allies, so he attempted to capture it, preparing to either try again or skewer the thing if it got loose.
Go Premier Ball! 5U1BPzuW1d20+1 AP well spent! Capture check: 1d20+1
Aron watched the catching intently. If, by chance, it didn't work or he missed outright, he prepared to... Splash some mud again. It got their attention last time, even if it left them with a large gash afterward, so surely, it will work now, too?

Time seems to slow as Edgar finally makes his presence known once more, the pearly white sphere of an inscribed apricorn arcing through the air. Edgar's eyes meet the absol's, and in the time it takes the ball to land, Edgar suffers a last attack - the last show of strength at the end of a battle. yrP|C7_81d20-1 versus AC 2 to deal 1d8+24 normal physical damage. Then, its over. The absol does not resist as its converted to magical energy and sucked inside the ball. The ball drops to the trampled grass where it lands, motionless. After the beat of a heart, the magic runes carved into the ball glow a warm purple light. The dedenne look on, and just as before, do not interfere. There is some communication between them, sparks and squeaks, as they seem to consider what to do now.
Each trainer gains 45 experience to spread among their pokemon (no more than 50% to pokemon that didn't battle.) Each trainer gains 4 trainer XP. Aethus gains +1 Txp for most damage taken, Ruruo gains +1 Txp for most damage dealt. 1d20-1·1d8+24

Grunting from the strike, he stared for a moment as the Absol was absorbed and the scene quieted down. That actually worked. The smith then picked up the Pokeball and, glancing to his allies, then the mouse ring, released it again, however held the ball to use in case they were to try anything. Would it have anything to say to its followers? How will it take to being captured?
The nameless Aron, in the meanwhile, walked up to its apparent trainer, limping slightly after the rather strong cut, then watched the Absol that wounded it closely.

Aethus grunts as he stands, and recalls his heavily bleeding pokemon.
"I'm so glad we could put on a show fighting that beast for you. Happy you joined in at the end so that you could claim it.
I had heard that you common folk were lazy and cowardly, but I had never imagined the extent of it."
Sarcasm and disdain drips from the nobles words towards Edgar as he starts to patch up his wounds.
"It is no wonder the state of Galla when even foreigners show more spine in battle."
With his (perceived) compliment towards Ruruo and insult towards Edgar given, he strides to where the Absol was previously laying by the tree, near the pile of tributes. Scanning them quickly, he then points his rapier towards the Dedenne surrounding the area.
"You are no longer under Absol's rule. You are under mine. Send your two strongest as representatives, and the rest of you may live as you please without need of tribute."
He speaks in a commanding tone at the hamster creatures, confident in his right as the over-thrower of their tyrant, or king, or however they viewed the absol.

Edgar simply looks back to Aethus, glaring. He was right, he didn't do much of the work, but jumping to conclusions and chewing him out for so little, also acting so high and mighty and calling common folk in general lazy... If the gripping of his glaive was any indication, he'd like to hit him for being an insufferable prick. "Well, excuse me, your highness, but I would at least rather not mercilessly gang up on a single opponent." Tossing the pokeball a little, he continues. "I was considering giving it to someone that bravely faced the enemy first, but now I'm not so sure..." His gaze shifts to the pirate in their ranks.

Ruruo stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Pinched it fair n square ya did, but if yer looking to part with it, maybe keepin one is lucky? Gonna have to get it out of your head that three on one int fair boyo, it were six on one and e' still managed to make at least four of us bleed. Mighta been a bit less if you'd left yer chivalry in yer other breeches and got in sooner."
The pirate's tone was halfhearted and ambivalent, with a pause he distractedly started digging through a pouch at his hip. "At any rate, what's done be done. Little splash of bourbon to keep it from getting infected, and some cloth, should be fine in a bit. C'mere Lordling, let's get them cuts treated."

Unconcerned with the dispute between the humans, the dedenne continue their chattering - after a few moments, two scurry up to the Rangers, as the rest gradually disappear into the brush. They seem healthy enough, and of a good disposition.

Aethus winces as the homemade healing is poured on his cut.
"Is this really an effective-"
He's cut off by the approaching Dedenne. Good. At least soemthing around here knew its place. Picking one entirely at random, he points to the one closest to him. "You will be with me."
(Short post picking so Ursus can designate stats and such).

Aethus picks up the necklace with the tip of his rapier, flicking it up and catching it. A good trophy for Pride, for all the damage it took in that fight. As for the rest of this, he truthfully was rather clueless. He knew well enough to know what a TM looked like, but the rest of these plants all looked the same to him. Berries, nuts, herbs, what of this was useful and what was garbage?
"Tei-zen was it? Do any of these...plants have any value?"
The 'lordling' addresses the nearby pirate. He wasn't sure he trusted the mans knowledge, but his treatment had stopped the burning of his wounds, so perhaps this criminal expert knew about those 'home remedies' that he had heard commoners used.

"Some of'em cook up alright, the nut lookin' ones can be made into balls if we find th'right kind of craftsman. The poultice ain't a bad find." Ruruo nodded a few times to himself. "Yeah we can do something with most of it. 'Kinda bilge rat you taking on anyway?"

So there were some uses to these plants. At least these rats seemed to be able yo find things of value. Maybe he would send his own off to find things later, as a show of acknowledgement of its new leader.
"Right. I'll let you handle them since you're so good at....medicine."
He looks down at the pile of plants. Valuable or not he wasn't some gardener, kneeling in the dirt. So long as the foreigner or the commoner got them it was good enough for him.
"These...bilge rats as you say will be accompanying us to represent our reclamation of the forest."
He returns the one that he chose to its ball.
"The other will be yours of course. Something to show the captain our efforts weren't in vain."
Satisfied that the dirty work was assigned, Aethus returns from where they came to report the findings. No sense looking for more fights with his Snivy so critically wounded.
Hopefully there were real treatments at the cart.
