Lia reels at hearing some of this information. She goes to put her hands on Kaeda's.
"First off... Babe, it's not a fucking competition. There's no 'you have to have this tragic a backstory' sign in front of the Kanto League. Not to mention Vincent had a pretty similar circumstance to you, if I recall. Not to mention, if it was a competition, Floyd wins. He just wins that fight. No contest."
Lia takes a breath, and keeps going.
"Second of all, that person you described does not sound like the person I'm on a date with right now. I want you to ask yourself two questions. One; If a person like that is brought up like that, with all the wealth and the servants and shit... Wouldn't they have stayed? Wouldn't they HATE it out here making it on their own? I don't think that person would have left. They would have had too weak a will to ever try leaving, try making Kanto on their own. That person WOULDN'T, for example, helped fight a giant mutant Sableye. Just a random example I thought of right now. Totally at random. Two..."
Lia takes one hand off to point at her own head.
"...look at me. This face right here. Does this LOOK like the face of a person who would stand that person being NEAR them? I've met people like that. I've wanted to punch their heads off into the sun. If that person you described was here, I'd hate them... instead of being head over heels for them."
She then grabs Kaeda by the shoulders.
"So when we talk about your past, you will recall it only in the past tense. As in 'I've become a better person now' tense. Because you are. I don't see no fat stacks, or a butler following you around calling you Miss Starwood sounding like his noes is so far up his ass he'd inhale his heart. I see a kick-ass girl who blows people up with her mind and came to Kanto to mix it up on her own. Got it?"

Kaeda sighs, and nods. "I know. I know...I still do have all of that stuff. I left all the money, servants, and other stuff you mentioned back at home. When I told my family I was going to be traveling the region, they were set to send me on any flying pokemon, suites set up in each city, and at least 5 servants to escort me. I went without all of that because my mom and dad created legacies for themselves. Dad is a brilliant doctor, and mom is one of the best coordinators to ever compete. I felt like I had to be great too. To do something worthwhile just like they did. I still want to, but at that time, I left because I mostly felt lonely. Being in a big mansion with not a lot going on. I had to get out, and find who I was, and wanted to be." She shrugs, and leans in Lia more. "But, yeah, I'm much different from the day I left. Running into some loud, pretty girl marked a big change one day. Thanks, babe."

Mom was one of the best grapplers in Johto while dad was one of the top rated martial artists. Oh god, if they found me fighting super-recklessly like this they'd lose their shit. Lia looks to Kaeda, and makes a 'gag me out' motion.
"Yeah you found me. Don't forget angry. And crazy too. Cause if anybody tries to steal you away from me you tell em that, and they'll run in terror. So not only did you get friends and a girlfriend to fix that lonely issue, you also got a body guard."
Lia smiles warmly.
"We'll circle back round to that at some point. Your turn."

Kaeda smiles, and kisses Lia's cheek. "Yeah. I'm so glad you're here. And, if someone tries to take you away...Hehe. Money can easily make problems go away." Kaeda plays with Lia's hair while she tells her about dreams, and other small insecurities. At some point, Kaeda sneakily sends 3 photos to Lia's dex. They are...unforgivably lewd to be done in a public place ...quite lewd.

How Kaeda got away with sending those sneaky texts, Lia will never know. But she does notice a text coming in and seeing them makes her nearly choke on her drink.
Really? Right now, Kaeda. How am I supposed to fire back unl- Oh. Heh.
Lia gives Kaeda a 'are you serious' look before scooting closer, and leaning in to whisper.
"You should watch how you escalate this game, baby. You gotta be careful, because someone less dignified would take advantage of the lovely lady that chose to wear a 'skirt'."
Lia, making sure nobody sees, slips her hand right under Kaeda's school skirt, and just gives a quick light touch. Before she can react, Lia gets up, and winks.
"Alright I've been grilling you long enough. I'm sure you got questions for me, I'll refill the drinks and you better have one when I get back."
And with that, Lia walks away to get refills, taking her time to let Kaeda stew, and comes back with a cheeky smile on her face.

Kaeda smirks, and tries to keep low profile so any nearby people don't catch on to the couples devilish acts. She bites her lip, and blushes. When Kaeda comes back, and after a few sips of her drink, "Okay. So I thought of 2 questions actually. Number 1: Why did you specifically choose Scier as your pokemon of choice? I would assume a fighting pokemon would be your style. A small, psychic type is much different. And, Number 2: When you left home, why did choose Kanto? Could have easily gone somewhere else."

"I guess I could just give you the whole spheal cause both answers kinda tie-in together. So I grew up basically in my parent's dojo. They so wanted me to be like them, it was nuts. Had to wear an exact copy of their gi, and all that shit. I was always the top student there. But I didn't like just fighting in that closed environment."
Lia seems to realize something, and makes a face.
"Damn, they really messed me up didn't they? No wonder it took me forever to get over losses. I wasn't trained at all to handle them! Shit, if I see my dad I'm KO'ing him again. Oh yeah, getting ahead of myself. So I wanted to go out and be a trainer,
so it wasn't just me fighting. But they always kept a close watch over me, and I never had pokeballs or anything so I could never get a pokemon. But in the months before I left the dojo took in Scier, who was still a chingling then, and still wild. She was given a home there and fed well in exchange for being a 'cute little ring bell' for the matches. Both of us stunted in our abilities. It's what I saw and since I couldn't go anywhere I'd stay up with Scier and chat with her. She became my best friend, all the other kids were terrified of the two Sensei's daughter and all... So one night I came up with a plan to get us both out of there. I knew that in order to actually get away I'd need some sort of head start. So I'd need them both distracted for a while so I could skip town. So Scier agreed to come with me as my pokemon and travel with me, she didn't want to stay cooped up but she didn't want to be wild anymore either. So we came up with a plan."
Lia takes a long sip of her pop.
"My Dad had this thing, anyone could challenge him at any point if they thought they were ready to graduate. So I did that. I had Scier ready as the ring bell, and we both set up ourselves for a fight. Scier rang early like I'd already won as the match started, and I sucker punched him right out and me and Scier got the HELL out of there. I knew my mom would immediately go to his side to try and make sure he was ok, and he'd be out for a while. So I went to the next town over. Scier and I did well for a while,
winning matches against small fish; feeling like I was on top of the world. I knew I'd eventually want to enter one of the leagues,
but I couldn't do Johto. They'd find me and get in my way eventually. I still assume they will show up one day to mess shit up, even here. But one of Kanto's league recruitment commercials calling people to Pallet got my attention. And since I liked to fight, a league with Full-contact battle seemed my style. But I didn't really have a choice, I was broke at that point, couldn't afford a ticket to go to anywhere else, and since Kanto is directly connected to us, it was the only option cause at least I could hitchhike my way here."
Lia slumps back, thinking, and continues.
"And I got here, hit a brick wall of power-level almost right away, but I met Vincent and Floyd that day as well.
And there's more but I don't know if you wanna hear about all the shenanigans I've been through up till we met up."

"Pfff- No I won't be heading back anytime soon. I've never really had a connection to Johto other than I lived there. And I didn't get to get out much so maybe waaaaay down the road I'd go explore. And no, thankfully haven't heard a peep. Don't know if they care, or if they are too busy with the dojo to come find me. Although I'll bet that if there's a 'final' point they show up,
it's if I get in the league, cause being televised doesn't help a 'low profile'. I'd bet money on that giving me away."
When Kaeda brings up regrets, Lia just looks her up and down, and smiles.
"Not anymore."
She winks again.
"Alright, your turn again. How in the hell did you get psychic powers? I don't know if that's appropriate to ask but I've never actually known a person with powers outside of you."

Kaeda giggles, and boops Lia's nose. "My powers? To be fully honest, I don't really know. I guess I've always had them. I first discovered them, when I was about 7 or 8 years old. Most of...Well all of my time was spent with Orpheus. All we did was walk around the mansion, play in the gardens, and talk. So much of me talking, and Orpheus, just a Ralts at the time, just in my lap, looking up at me, and listening. Eventually, one day, I could just...hear her. I could just understand what she was thinking. With other pokemon, I could understand them too. After a while, Orpheus, and I could hold full conversations telepathically. Funny thing, I actually scared my parents because I stopped audibly talking for about a month. Few years pass, and after some research, I learn about telepathy. I've been using it ever since to communicate on another level with my pokemon. "

"...Maybe that's just me. But, wow you and Orpheus have been together for basically your whole life? I don't know how you could feel alone when you have such a nice pokemon to keep you company, but I guess there's 'being alone together' as a thing,

Kaeda smiles warmly. "Yeah. My parents asked me what pokemon I wanted, showed me many pictures of pokemon, saw the ralts line, and said, 'I want that one!' Then, her egg came shortly, and watched her hatch. She's been by my side ever since."
Kaeda shrugs. "I'd say Orpheus and I are more than say friends, or partners. I never know how to describe it, so I just say, 'Our relationship is beyond words.' Also, it stems from not having friends like me. No going to the park to play with others, no one coming to the birthday parties, etc etc...I tried to fill that void with as many pokemon as I could. When I left I tried to find beautiful, and rare pokemon. As many as I could find. Castor, Pyro Jack, Nemesis...I love them all so much...but recently I've felt I've been putting too much pressure on them. Or, they pressure themselves too much to make me happy..."

"That's cute. I was gonna say you were like sisters, but I guess it's even closer than that."
Lia frowns a little at Kaeda's comment about pressure on her pokemon.
"Yeah, I've been there. I've found that making myself the main combatant of our team just puts most of the pressure on me, but I also have like..."
Lia counts on her fingers.
"Thirteen? Yeah Thirteen serious contenders for my pokemon that I switch between when needed. Or at least it's that many if you include my Volcarona, who's a little strong for me to control right now. Really hope she doesn't burn the ranch down at some point... Anyway, I 'was' going to add that if you include a certain firey red-head to your growing team of pokemon, then there's a big group that want to see you happy."
Lia winks.

Kaeda nudges Lia playfully. "Hehe. I know. It's just when they go down in fights, I don't want them thinking they've let me down. I've also heard from them that I take a lot of the blame onto myself as their trainer. I feel like I didn't prepare them enough, or I only set them up for failure. Also, when I go down in fights, I can't help, or support them. With mounting losses, it only adds to it. So now, I just find myself very anxious to go into the next full contact gym out of fear of us loosing. The fear of going in thinking we can handle it, loose when it looks like we have won, wait, and stew in our depression while our wounds heal. Just like we are doing now..."

Lia is silent while Kaeda speaks. When she is done, she finally speaks up.
"Kaeda, I'm going to hold out my hand in a second. If you take it, we'll finish up, pay and I'll help you in any way I can. I'll train you so you can feel as strong as I am, more if possible. If you don't take it, I'll see it as a sign you'd like to figure it out for yourself and we can continue on our date and have a nice night. No pressure on either choice."
Lia stands, and holds out her hand to Kaeda.

Kaeda looks at Lia, and then down at her hand. She stares at it for a while, but ultimately chooses to not take her hand. "Thank you, Lia. But, this is a problem that I'm personally going through. We need to be able to pull ourselves up when we loose, and face our challenges with confidence. It's something my pokemon and I need to work on together." She then takes Lia's hand, laces their fingers, and kisses it. "I will accept your support, and love, 100%. With you cheering me on, and being there for me, I know I'll succeed." She smiles brightly.

Does she already feel that strongly about me?
She shakes that off her mind, it can come up later. She puts her hands up, and smiles.
"Alright, offer rescinded then. I respect that. Just know I will help you in any way I can that you'll allow. Still got my Mentor training, can help you there. Like I said, I want you to be happy, and you were looking a little down there and I could help you fix it."
She sits back down, and finishes off her meal.
"So... it's not that late, what would you like to do next? I think we've had enough heart to heart for now, we'll spread it across multiple dates, heh. I wanna have some sort of fun."

Kaeda holds Lia's hand as they walk up to their ranch. Kaeda scans around for her Skiddo, and sees him grazing in a field. "There he is!" They head over to him, and he bleats when the girls walk up. "Oh he's adorable!"
