"Right. Right. Now we focus up because today is gonna be a long one. We tackle two facilities at Cinnabar. Let's go!" Kaeda gets those dragons moving again towards the first target, the underwater base near Cinnabar.

It takes only an hour or so to reach Cinnabar from Cerulean at a reasonable pace. Judging by the plume of smoke near the island, either the volcano is particularly active again, or the Gym Leader was forewarned of the group's arrival and decided to use a method of communication that Floyd would understand: Smoke Signals.

As the party draws closer to the island, they discover that the smoke is not, in fact, from the volcano. Instead, it appears as though the old Pokemon Mansion that's been there for ages has been set ablaze. In fact, there seems to be some fighting going on down there. Several unidentifiable figures attempt to flee the scene on the backs of flying Pokemon, only to be knocked out of the sky by...something. It's difficult to tell what the Pokemon knocking things out of the sky is from here.

Kaeda peers down at the chaos, and looks to the others. "Things look bad down there! Lets quickly see if we can get people away from that fire!" Kaeda also notices flying pokemon getting taken down. This situation seemed even more dangerous than it looked. Kaeda orders her dragons to descend somewhat further from the fire, so then they can run up to the building.

Upon drawing closer to land, the group sees several people in strange, ninja-like outfits having the snot beat out of them by numerous Fire-Type Pokemon. The ones commanding the fire-types appear to be wearing the colors of Cinnabar Island, indicating that they must be associated with the Gym in some way. Even some of the Gym Trainers themselves are throwing fire around! Despite all appearances though, the fire seems perfectly contained and controlled. No civilians are in the area, and none of the ninja-outfit people are being allowed to escape. Just what the heck is going on here?! Oh wait, the tall red-head seems to be in charge. Maybe talk to her?

"Huh? Nin...jas...?" Lia did like to go off about those sand ninjas a lot, and outside of certain areas, Kaeda hadn't seen groups of ninjas just getting beat up. She then quickly made her way towards the red haired woman. "Hey! What in the world is going on here!?"

That's odd! I don't recall ninjas being part of this deal in any way ... Jane blinked twice to make sure she was seeing the right things. Then she simply accepted that now they were with a shrug. It really didn't concern her and it seemed easier this way. But just to be sure she quietly asked Floyd. "I'm not going insane and there really is a bunch of people lighting ninjas on fire right?"

Floyd mutters to Jane, failing to hide a scowl when he hears that the gym trainers were waiting on technicalities.
"Have you seen any of the hybrids they've created?"
Floyd asks the woman, looking around the battlefield for anything more than fire types and ninjas.

The woman turns back to Floyd, having been apparently admiring the flames. She raises an eyebrow. "Haven't seen anything like that. Soon as we lit the place up, these little rats came swarming out so we're keeping them contained. Got people who'll do a sweep for survivors later. Unless you're volunteering?"

The woman nods. "Right. Lemme clear a path for ya." She raises her arms and unleashes long streams of flame from her hands, quite effectively pushing away the 'rats' and clearing a path to the door. She smirks and motions for the group to head on in.

Jane gives the gym leader a respectful nod (from a safe distance) and follows Kaeda and Floyd. Until she realizes they aren't going to the same place. "Okay sure! If you'll manage?"
"Hey Kaeda wait for me!" Jane rushes after the more eager. But first; binding a Fire Brace on herself. Just in case.

Jane and Kaeda head on into the currently-on-fire building, though it turns out that only the outside is actually burning. The entrance is pretty torn up, but beyond that most of the building appears immaculate.
