While Lia waits for her team to be healed, she notices Vincent come in behind her, but doesn't say anything. She fidgets for a while, obviously irritated. Finally she turns to Vincent.
"How in the world is your team that strong?! Like... it doesn't make sense for me to be losing this much right off the bat. All the fighters in the dojo were pushovers eventually. I trained Scier and Glosny the same way I got trained. It seemed to work. Those I faced back in Johto weren't tough. But..."
She looks out the window.
"The second I get here, trounced by the gym. Not the gym 'leader', just the gym itself. Then get my butt basically handed to me on a platter by someone who just beat the gym. I wasn't ready to hit this kind of brick wall, ya know? Hell if it was a real one I could at least punch through it."
She throws a fake punch forward.
"But this Kanto trip has been very discouraging. Not to mention I haven't gotten to fight anyone myself!"

Vincent listens to Lia patiently. When she finishes, he thinks for a moment before talking. "Well, I trained a lot with Vel on my own back in Johto, until I was able to get a sufficient level of understanding of the Dark-type. This makes my team especially strong when using Dark-type attacks, which unfortunately your team as a whole seems to have a weakness to. I'm sure if I'd trained in another type, the match would have been more equal. My team itself also happens to contain potentially very powerful Pokemon, all of which are trained to do as much damage as possible without neglecting their speed and stamina." Vincent doesn't mind boasting about his Pokemon a little. It makes him happy to see other people recognizing their strength.
Vincent hummed a little. "While I know a little about fighting myself, I focus mainly on Pokemon Battling and Training. I make sure my Pokemon are as strong as they can possibly be before I work on myself and pardon me if I'm wrong but I have a feeling it's the other way around with you. Not that that's a bad thing, it just means that your team depends a lot more on you being in the fight and from I heard, you haven't gotten a chance to do that yet. It's understandable from that viewpoint then, that you haven't been doing as well as you could have, I think. You shouldn't worry too much about the losses for now, just remind yourself that there's more to battling than the Pokemon themselves. If that makes sense. Of course, picking up some more battling and training skills wouldn't hurt either."
Vincent stopped for a moment to consider something, before shrugging. "If it makes you feel better, I got my ass kicked by what I'm guessing was a Kanto native back in Viridian Forest. The girl came out of nowhere, beat my Pokemon, put me to sleep and looted me. It was terrible, but it motivated me to become a lot stronger. Just don't ask me to ever go back to Viridian Forest, I swear that place is cursed." Vincent shook his head, "I've lost two teammates in that Forest- I mean they didn't die or anything, they just left. That place is bad luck."

Lia listens a bit, before pouting a bit.
"Why do you gotta be all 'logical' and stuff. Makes it hard to yell me head off when you are making too much sense."
She drops the pout and replaces it with a look of concern.
"And did that really happen to you out there in Viridian Forest? Like... geez. I feel for you. Although if I were in your shoes I'd just go nuts and burn the place down."
She laughs a bit, before throwing her hands up.
"Kidding, of course. But it really sounds like a guy or gal needs someone watching their back in Kanto or they'll get stabbed in it. Figuratively. Hopefully anyway."

"I don't think they'll be putting that in tourist ads anytime soon." Floyd says from behind Vincent, having returned to heal his pokemon after his battle. "So how did your battles go? I found success in both capture and conquest, though I was unfortunately reliant upon my Magnemite in both fights." He says, frowning as he considers the obvious result of using Telum in the towns gym.

Having gotten his Pokemon healed, Vincent returns to the conversation. "Well, I just won a battle. I also caught a Vullaby, which is a big thing for me as a Dark-type specialist. In addition to that, I caught a Buneary which should be relaxing on my ranch right now, but if either of you would want a Buneary or a Rotom, just tell me and we can make a trade."
Vincent looked at Floyd a little shrewdly, "If you're finding yourself reliant on your starter Pokemon, which I'm guessing is your Magnemite, maybe if you go to Viridian or Pallet, you'll find Trainers that aren't quite as strong to train up your weaker Pokemon? I don't know if they actually are weaker there at this point, it's just an idea. If you need a training partner, I'm also free at the moment. I'd be happy to get my newer and weaker Pokemon used to battling."

Floyd frowns as he considers Vincent's words. It was true that he'd likely find easier foes towards Pallet Town due to its reputation as the 'beginner' town, but he was loathe to backtrack himself. Though he'd be willing to explore Viridian Forest, traveling to Viridian City would provide him with little utility. On the other hand, a training partner would be most useful.
"It is less that I am generally reliant upon my starter and more that my Magnemite will be of little use against this town's Gym Leader. Frustratingly I have not yet met an opponent that my Squirtle can excel against and my Riolu requires much training before she is ready for a gym battle. As such, I would be happy to practice with either of you. I believe you and I could even spar some Lia."
He says, gesturing at the axe on his back.

Damn, I thought my way of speaking was formal? Clearly I was thinking too highly of myself. Floyd on the other hand... does he ever use contractions? "Well, if you're going to spar and maybe have a battle, I hope you two have fun. Now that I've gotten my Pokemon healed, I'm going to search for some trainers of my own to battle." Vincent mentally debated whether to speak up on what he'd been thinking about. He wasn't sure if he was doing the right thing suggesting it, but someone might have to at this point, it was just a logical progression. As much as I hate to admit it, talking about Viridian Forest reminded me how dangerous Kanto is for a lone person. It's always better to have back up and from battling Lia I can tell that even though I beat her, she's definitely got potential. Floyd just looks pretty competent, and he seems to know his limits. We're already training partners, so why not make it official and team up? I don't really need anyone else though, after beating the gym I think I could take on that girl and beat her, unless she got stronger too. I wonder if these guys would up and leave eventually too though. Maybe... maybe I'll wait for one of them to ask. That makes things easier. Having made his decision, Vincent nodded at the two trainers before excusing himself. Before he actually left though, he couldn't help but add, "It's been fun talking to you. Let's all meet up again soon. And we still need to have that battle, Floyd."With that, Vincent left the Pokemon Center and went off in search of trainers to fight. Dunno if I'm supposed to roll or you Raven, but here's a Random Trainer Roll: PXudMfUd1d35 1d35

What are Lia and Floyd doing then? Sparring match? Wild hunting? Something else?

(A sparring match I believe.)
"Good luck Vincent. We shall test ourselves next time." Floyd says as he retrieves his pokeballs."Lia. Shall we be fighting solely with our natural capabilities or shall we battle alongside our pokemon?"

"Oh yeah, sure thing Vincent!"With him gone, Lia turns to the remaining trainer when he proposes a match. "As much as I'd like to face you one on one, couple of the newbies gotta get more practice in before tomorrow. So let's go full out BRAWL! Come on, we'll go where Vincent and I just fought. Should be a good place for it."Lia makes her way out of the center Was waiting for magister to reply before I said anything heh. I'll get our battle started in the group battle thread.

Having won his first battle with a city local trainer, Vincent quickly walked to the Pokemon Center in order to heal up Ryker, his Purrloin. He still felt a little guilty about allowing the Purrloin to lose, it was Vincent's fault for not using strategies that were available to him. As soon as Ryker was healed, Vincent left the Pokemon Center again. Originally he'd wanted to wait around and see if Lia and Floyd would be back, but after waiting for a while it seemed they were still too busy. While waiting, he'd remembered another friend of his who was probably waiting for him on Mt. Moon. It'd been a while since Vincent had last seen Dan. It'd be nice to catch up with the guy again. With that in mind, Vincent quickly bought some more Pokeballs and then headed out towards Mt. Moon, figuring he could catch some Pokemon while he was looking for Dan. Having delivered Lia and Calyx into the tender care of the Pokemon Centre nurses Floyd took a seat, using the screen of his Pokedex as a makeshift mirror, gently probing his own wounds. "Though she lost, Lia can take solace in the tendency of axes to leave either lasting and striking scars or no mark at all. Bruises sadly just look ugly for a period then fade. And sting horribly while they last." He says to Catula, the young Riolu curiosly poking him in the side. Floyd winces in response. "On the other hand, I can be grateful she didn't crack my ribs. That would be a significant impediment to my plans. And your training." He says with a frown. "Alas we have not yet face suitable opponents for you to vanquish. Perhaps we should seek out some weak, local pokemon once Lia has finished recovering?" He suggests, only for Catula to poke him again. "Please don't." Floyd asks

Lia suddenly wakes up with a start, swinging her fist in the empty air.
"-day?"
Realizing she seems to be in a bed in the center, Lia looks around confused for a moment.
"OH WHAT, DID I LOSE?!"
She fumbles for the nearby [and newly-healed] pokeballs, looking for Skala's. She quickly releases the Golett near her.
"Skalaaaaaaaa! What happened?"
The Golett looks around a long moment, before giving a solitary shrug.
"BAH that doesn't help!"
She recalls the pokemon before charging out of the room.
"FLOYD. HAS ANYONE SEEN THE AXE MAN? I HAVE QUESTIONS."

Bursting out of the room, you startle one of the poor orderlies that check up on patients throughout the day. Through their terrified stammering, you discern that the man you are looking for is in the main lobby, probably waiting on you.

"Welcome back to the land of the living Ripley Van Winkle." Floyd says with a smile. "And congratulations on raising such a strong Golett. Calyx didn't stand a chance." He says, deftly keeping Catula away from his axe with one hand.

"THERE YOU ARE WHA- Oh Skala won? But 'you' weren't in there with me so I guess you got out of there fine. What, did you stop after me?"
Lia pokes a bit at where the axe struck her.
"I mean I guess that's fair. Just feels a bit cheap. Also I didn't get to enjoy it. Still feels a bit like I lost, ya'know?"
She lets Scier out again, who takes place at her side once more.
"Guess I can't do anything about it now. What's your next move?"

"It seemed most unfair to double team your pokemon simply because we are more accurate than our monsters." Floyd says. "Also I would have collapsed if I was hit by a light breeze." He frowns and glances at Catula. "I suspect my next move will be to seek appropriate foes for Catula here. She needs the most training out of my team before she'll be ready for the gym. What of you? Where shall you go to seek success?"

"I got about the same problem. I tried the gym and got ate up by the sand and the first gym trainer blind-sighting me with dark-type attacks. I might need some more varied buddies before I try again tomorrow but my newbies still need more training."
Lia flips a bit of out of place hair carelessly behind her.
"Since I faced both you and Vincent with... let's say middling results, I gotta find someone else. Or maybe head back into the wilds? I don't know."

"Perhaps it would be best if we ventured into the wilderness together." Floyd suggests, carefully standing up. "A few battles against the local monsters will definitely toughen up our team. And by working together we can ward off any individual misfortune. Or potentially double it, but that is rather unlikely." He holds out his hand to Lia. "What do you say? Comrades?"
