When Jackson sees the disguised man lead two disheveled women into the clearing, his expression twists into one of distaste. Though his first instinct is to confront the man, Jackson decides to trust Junior's judgment and stays back. Sienna is quite capable of taking care of herself, and he'll be around to assist at a moment's notice. When the 'magician' speaks, Jackson's distrust of him grows. He's trying to establish superiority by suggesting that the others need help. Either the man is bluffing and is the slime Jackson suspects, or he actually knows the area and is a threat. Intuition: How false is the "magician's" reply? _C1pqISh4d6+2 4d6+2

The man is quick to shepherd the girls to one side and interpose himself between them and the Professor and Sienna. Because of this, Sienna can only tell that the two of them are definitely not lucid. Nathan's able to see more from his perspective; the two definitely don't seem to be moving on their own initative, needing to be prodded in a direction to move. Of the two, it seems the younger is slightly more alert; the older woman stumbles slightly, and younger instinctively clutches at her to keep her from falling. As she does so, Nathan notices something not immediately obvious due to how close the two were standing: they are handcuffed together!
"Yes, as you can see my friends here are in no condition to be left alone," the man says, "It seems the forest air simply doesn't agree with them. So I've taken it upon myself to bring them somewhere where they needn't worry about being made some wolf's lunch."
His words definitely seem as slimy as he does, but to Jackson's ear they are spoken with a confidence of a man in his element. Jackson doubts the man has spoken any outright lies; he definitely knows where he is, and where he's going.
The mask he wears is definitely covered in Egyptian symbols, immaculately carved into the mask's surface. Sienna recognizes them from a piece out of Eliza's collection; not used in the "mainstream" religion of ancient Egypt, but rather by a fringe cult whose practices were shrouded in secret. The markings, invocations to Egyptian gods and spirits of wisdom and knowledge, are so perfectly done that it is only Sienna's trained we that is able to pick up on the inconsistencies that mark it as modern recreation, or if one were to be less generous, a forgery.
"Does this interest you?" the man asks Sienna, noticing her interest. "It is quite the piece I will admit, though not my most impressive. Perhaps you and your companion might wish to see the rest of my collection?"

Jackson's suspicion of the magician continues to grow. Everything about the man oozes with questionable intent. There's no value in letting a person get away with a distorted truth simply because he hasn't done anything overtly malicious. Sneaking around like this really isn't Jackson's style, and he's on the verge of interfering. Jackson looks down at Junior to see if the cub still doesn't want to get involved, because that's the only thing holding him back right now.

Nathan's eyes widen as he sees that the two persons are handcuffed together, and, perhaps more important, seemed to be drugged up or something. Okay, something shady is going on here, and I don't like it one bit. But what can we do... Unsure of what to do, and not wanting to draw attention just yet, he tries to catch Jackon's attention, before miming handcuffs and pointing at the two women, hoping he catches on.

"I have to admit, if one was looking an artifact to help one find their way, then the veil of Thoth would be one of the highest among them." Sienna admits to the man before her smile takes a sharper turn "A pity that whoever handed that to you made a barely half powered fake."

The man's smile fades at Sienna's critical observation, being replaced by a sour expression. "Now now, it isn't very polite to insult someone's work to their face, now is it?" He turns his attention to Professor Hemlock. "You might want to have a talk with your little girl about manners sometime." Leviathan quietly hisses at the perceived insult towards Sienna.
"I'm afraid she's not my anything," the Professor coolly responds, "so it isn't my place to do anything." His demeanor is icy; apparently this man's obviously suspicious behaviour has managed to affect even the normally scatterbrained Hemlock. At this, the man's smirk returns, though it seems more obviously forced this time.
"Well, my friends and I have places to be. I'm sorry I can't stay and get insulted further." He walks backwards towards his "friends" as he speaks, keeping his gaze on Sienna and the Professor. Past the edge of the clearing, Junior motions with his paws to Jackson in quiet alarm. It seems that while he doesn't seem to like man, the idea of letting him leave with the two is distressing him a fair bit. Sitting on Nathan's shoulder, Franklin seems equally concerned about this situation, but looks to Nathan quietly for direction.

Nathan panics slightly as the man starts leaving, having the distinct feeling something bad would happen to the two women if they allowed the masked man to take them. This was supported by Franklin looking at him for guidance, obviously not wanting the man to leave either. Nathan begins walking forward through the bushes, intent on stopping the man, halting him in his tracks, though he knows there is no way he will get close enough in time, not with the trees in the way, not with his own limited movement. I must stop him, halt him, take him down. Trip, stumble, fall over, slow down, STOP! He was thinking uncharacteristically frantic, focused entirely on the man as he walks closer. Suddenly, he feels something lashing out toward the masked man, the same ... feeling, mental appendage, whatever it was that he had been feeling ever since the forest had turned off. He can feel it pulling at the man's legs, trying to knock his feet out from under him to throw him to the ground. Nathan uses a Trip Maneuver at range 4 using Telekinetic! With Junior's reaction, the last thing preventing Jackson from action is gone. He doesn't even notice Nathan's concentration, having focused in on the masked man. Jackson strides out into the clearing, staring down the 'magician'.
"Oi. You will not pollute this place."
Jackson's temper has been simmering for quite a while now. From having his vacation interrupted by people, to getting hit in the nuts, to the professor's careless antics, he's more than a little annoyed. Add in a man who is using this sacred forest to hurt other people... Jackson would love to knock the mask right off his suspicious face.

Sienna opened her mouth, ready to call him out on the man's BS. But then a flash of darkened fire, not unlike what she used to combat the snake flared up around her mouth, returning the corpus-twine that has sewn her lips shut. It would seem that standing this close to a weakness between realms caused reality to snap back into place with a vengeance when it came to sienna's shadow of the ideal self spell.

Masked Man's Acrobatics Check: AXZmwmWc3d6 (Assuming lost, will edit if otherwise) As Nathan and Jackson enter into the clearing the masked man is surprised, first from the unexpected appearance of others, and then at the sudden sensation of his feet being taken out from under him. He very quickly tumbles to the ground, after which he raises his head, spitting leaves and other detritus out of his mouth and glaring. "Well," he says with undisguised annoyance, "I had hoped we'd be able to part ways without incident, but I suppose you and your friends aren't going to allow for that, are you?" He reaches a hand out, empty until he flicks his wrist to reveal a card. "But that's alright, I have friends of my own for you to play with."He throws the card quickly before any have the chance to see what it depicts, but with a flash it releases the creature held within and it no longer becomes necessary. What stands before you now is small, much like the creatures bound to each of you, but it is more bizarre than any of them. It's general body shape seems fox-like, but a fox which has taken a chitinous exoskeleton like that of an insect, its limbs armoured and its joints sharply defined. It stands on two legs facing you, but its eyes are closed. "Nari?" The man says to the creature as he stands and brushes himself off, "Time to say hello."Nari stands unmoving for a moment before slowly opening its eyes. What features those eyes have are lost to you as a bright cone of light issues forth from them. Nari the Abra uses Flash! 1d20 vs AC 2 + Relevant Evasion. If hit, -1 to accuracy to entire party. If hit, Masked Man spends 1 AP to activate Quick Wit, allowing Nari the Abra to use the Manipulate (Infuriate) Maneuver on Nathan. 1d20 vs. AC 2 + Nathan's Relevant Evasion. Nathan tries his best, his level best to stay calm at the fox...armor...bug... thing's provoking, but he was already on edge and he just... snapped. He lashes out with the... mental appendage, whatever it was, striking the masked man even while he was blinking dots out of his eyes from the sudden flash. It was odd though. Where the previous strike had felt more like a physical force originating from somewhere in Nathan's mind, this attack felt... different, like he was directly firing off the force, rather than pushing and pulling with it in a direct link to him. Franklin, meanwhile, jumps off of Nathan's shoulder, and darts off to the armored humanoid, trying to strike it hard with tail, a surprising amount of force behind the small rodent. The flurry of activity by his companions leaves Jackson disoriented for a moment. Is seems strange that the humans are doing something supernatural, but their guardians are sticking to 'normal' attacks. Regardless, Jackson is pleased that things have devolved into a fight. There's no point in trading words with someone who will just lie and distort the truth. Jackson glances down at Junior so they can synchronize their battle plan. "We'll take on opponents our own size." This also prevents Jackson from having to touch the other creature. Kicking wild dogs was one thing, but this new beast was something else entirely. Jackson walks up to the man and throws a low punch at his gut, planning on softening the man up before subduing him. Meanwhile, Junior approaches the smaller foe and attacks with a clean swipe, using his claws to pierce any defenses the creature set up. Jackson, Struggle on man: AC 4: AiDb2acp1d20 DB 4: 1d8+11

Jackson makes it to the man swiftly, his fist connecting with his gut. Unfortunately it appears the man's dapper appearance does not mean he is completely inexperienced in a fight, as he knows enough at least to roll with the punch somewhat. Junior's attack on Nari is dead centre, certain to cause devastating effect... until the fox-like creature vanishes before him. The cub looks around confused for a brief moment before realizing his enemy has reappeared behind him. Sienna's song is soothing, and while its enchantment is not strong enough to cause anyone to fall asleep, both man and monster feel their movements become more sluggish for a moment. This is all the opening Leviathan needs, his claws raking at Nari's face as he passes by and upwards. Franklin follows up quickly, bringing his tail down heavily on Nari's upturned face. When it becomes visible again, Nari's face sports a nasty looking gash, out of which seeps some viscous green liquid. The masked man is once again struck, this time by Nathan's anger-filled psychic attack, causing him to stumble and grimace. "I guess I made the wrong person mad today," he mutters darkly, before shouting something unintelligible to his companion. In response, Nari momentarily rises up and throws its hands out, causing flames to fly forth in a sphere around itself. As this happens, the man flicks his wrist towards Jackson's face, causing something to fly out with a bang and a flash. Across the battlefield he makes eye contact with Sienna, and despite the seriousness of the situation sends her a wink and blows a kiss as he steps backwards. "Sorry, little one, but I'm afraid we'll have to cut our conversation short until later!"Nari uses Hidden Power (Fire Type)! _oim2euj1d20 vs. 2 + Special Evade. 2d6+22 Fire damage on Junior and Franklin on hit.

Nathan's mind clears and he regains his composure, though he still feels offense is probably the best course of action.
