Christine almost jumpes out of her skin at that, and quickly whirls around to face the person - who, for better or worse, she recognizes. "Don't do that to me again, DeLoria!" she says in a warning tone... although the effect is a little bit lost as she's still trying to calm down. "What the hell do you think you were trying to pull back there?" Her feelings are a bit of a mixed bag right now... she's angry at him leaving, but she is glad that he's back safe and sound. Not that she would admit that second part.

Lowering his voice, a passive expression on his face, Cecil leaned in until his head was over her shoulder. "I was pulling my weight, the way I know how to. You going to keep scolding me like I'm just some shitty little kid, or did you want to know the important crap that concerns you as a medic?" Chin up, he gave Christine back her space. Haven't been back not five minutes and she's riding me again, Christ. Old Man is probably laughing at me back in the vault.

"Well-" she realizes that she should probably keep her voice down, and leans in a little, "Well, my job is keeping you all healthy and, most importantly, alive. How am I supposed to do that if I don't even know where you are?" She gives a small huff. "But, we'll continue this conversation another time. You said you had important stuff that concerns me?"

Kat took in the small argument between Cecil and 'Christine' without looking for too long at either of them. So the rude girl who hadn't bothered to give a name earlier-- she was the medic? Okay, okay, there was something to be said for watching their backs and not gettin' cozy with just about anyone, she knew that all too well... but could she even trust this bird to help her in a pinch? Something told Kat that this sharp-tongued chicky was all for herself, and her family, and balls to the rest.
"Careful Slips," she drawled lazily at the man who'd toppled his stack, trying to distract herself from darker thoughts. "You're doin' your name proud, aintcha?" And then realizing that might have come across as a bit more testy than intended--she didn't have anything against Billy, honest--she tried to help steady him with his newly-stacked load.

Bunnie notes Cecil walking in looking rather clean. She thinks to ask him where it was he managed to get a bath, but decides against it as she turns and watches the muscular guy, Billy she heard him called, to see if being clumsy was a one-off thing or something that happened often.
She gives a cursory glance around the shop, not looking for anything in particular.

The young man gives a sheepish grin. Now unobscured by the boxes, his face is genial and honest, with a quick smile. "Sorry Mr. Mahoney." He scratches the back of his neck before he notices the others, especially Amber and Bunnie as the two nearest to him. "Oh jeeze, you didn't get hit with any boxes didja? Sorry, we just reorganized the store, still trying to get used to the new layout." He blinks at Kat, before a small chuckle escapes him. "Guess I kinda am Ms. Kat. Good joke." He quickly pulls the boxes together, and begins stacking them. "Sorry about interrupting your dealing folks, just ignore me."
Mahoney seems to dismiss the incident immediately, focusing back on Amber, and picking through the toolkit she had produced. he nods absently. "Mmmm, yes, fully intact. Looks like it's all the original set too. Quite the find here young lady." He peers at the display case full of fruit you'd pointed out. "So, you wish to learn the fine art of turning apricorns into functioning pokeballs eh? It takes some doing, but you seem to be a smart lass. I'd be willing to give you some lessons on how to put this kit to good use for a solid thousand in caps."

Amber lets out a considering noise. "I'd like to learn to make these," She says, pulling out a pokeball from her pocket, as well as the shards from a broken one. She dumps them into the container holding the tool set. "However that works. I'm willing to pay the price."
She tilts her head. "And...Kat said we should also get survival gear. Can you help us with that?"

Christine really does not know when to stop. Guess I can wait, this is kinda stupid important. Especially after the blue piss incident. Cecil's bored expression permeated the remainder of her accusatory tone, and lingered a solid thirty seconds after the fact. Blinks twice.
"Oh good, you're done. So the big important one that everyone needs to know, is that anything we eat or drink has this sickness in it called Pokerus. Stuff that's completely free of it isn't easy to come by. Good news is you can treat food to reduce your exposure, it's slow to build up in your bod, and there's a mushroom that strengthens your body against it. Bad news is if you let it build up, you lose your mind and mutate into a Pokemon."
Cecil stuck his chin out a bit and bobbed his head, letting that information sink in. Knowing full well this alone was likely to set everyone into a panic, he kept the rest of the dangers of the waste he now knew to himself. "If you don't believe me, you can always ask Kat for confirmation, she should know."

Christine's mouth simply hung open in shock. She tried to say something. Anything. "What the hell is wrong with this place?" she hisses. "I...can't believe that such a thing is possible. If this is your idea of a sick joke, DeLoria..." She stops, then continues. "But I'm still going to have to act on it. If there's even the possibility that this is true..." she trails off. Oh, god. This is completely outside anything I've ever encountered. What if I'm not up to the task? I could doom all of us and the Vault. She began panicking a little inside, as she tried to reorganize her thoughts, before a thought struck her. "DeLoria... this is important. Do you have any idea what the symptoms of the onset of this... Pokérus... are? At all?"

Got her attention now at least. Brushing his bangs to one side with a few fingers haphazardly, Cecil unconcernedly shoved his hands into his pockets. "Scrimshaw wasn't too clear on that, just that there are a lot of different strains of it. An extreme few are beneficial, and it usually kills you before you mutate like that. Pointed the disease out to me when I played that tape for him, so I guess the symptoms that trucker had might be a good place to start?"
Cecil squinted for a moment at nothing in particular. "Severe cough, and I'd imagine anything to do with your head? You might want to talk to a doc here in town. Chances are a historian ain't going to have the answers or much exposure to the stuff. No need to bug out, just gotta keep getting information till we're sittin' high and safe, right? Oh, the other thing, if you meet a guy named Lucien with some hangers-on, don't hang around alright?"

"Well... we should be good for now, at least," she says, only mostly convinced of her own statement. "Although, we should go visit their Medical Center once we're done here. But...let's not cause a panic quite yet." She takes a couple (dozen) deep breaths, and calms (mostly) down. "Okay, Lucien, Lucien... I'll keep that in mind. Why? Did you run into any problems?"

"Nah, never met the guy. Was told he's the only pimp in town though, keeps his girls around by getting them hooked on something or other. Fresh faces keeps the old clients happy, and brings in new ones if you catch my drift. Just watch yourself around him, don't eat or drink anything he offers, and don't go mouthing off at him." The final item in the list had just a bit more vocal push to it. "We got more to talk about, but it can wait till we leave Purewater."

"I... Yeah. I catch your drift," Christine says, shuddering a little at the description of this "Lucien". "You... probably want to speak to Bunnie about this. She's a bit too...social for her own good out here."

This was turning into an awful lot of footwork for very little payoff, if Cecil hadn't just had the lay of a lifetime he probably would've burned through his last two smokes and broken something by now. Looking displeased with Christine's statement, he only nodded and made his way towards Bunnie.
Maybe packs wouldn't be too expensive and he could ration a bit better? Convincing Bunnie not to sidle up to someone reasonably attractive and charismatic would be worse then sitting through Christine's tirades. At least Amber was easy, she seemed to readily believe anything he said and scared easily. If only she didn't call him Mister the greaser might even like her. Eh, best just to turn Bunnie's attentions on what needed done.
"Hey Bun, could use a word in private if you've got a second." Then for the sake of obfuscation... "Been thinking about you and me, and the places we're going together." Wouldn't be the first pass he's made, but hopefully she saw through it. Cecil knew full well that shop was closed.

Bunnie almost believes Cecil is trying to hit on her again before noting the change in his tone. She can't, for the life of her, figure out what it is he's trying to keep from everyone, but her general curiosity gets the better of her and she bites.
Of course, Cecil. I don't seem to be doing much good in here, and you do look suspiciously clean right now. Especially for you.
She walks over to him, following his lead. For once.

Draping an arm lazily across Bunnie's shoulders, Cecil leaned in so close that she could feel his breath on her ear. "Sorry if I'm making this a bit weird. Found a spot where we can get the info we need on the bits and bobs for home." Affording her shoulders a squeeze, to the trained eye Cecil's face was a mask, a lustful smile and coquettish eyes thrown on to deter suspicion.
Leaning in again, he continued. "Problem is it's in a password locked computer, up in the water plant. We have to use a light touch to even get in the place, the guy that owns the operation might give us access to the building if we play up the right scene. Regardless we're going to need Amber."
Another pause. "Cindy was really interested in your dress. Brought her a fashion mag I found down at Scrimshaw's place."

Bunnie just as casually and easily removes Cecil's hand from around her shoulder, but listens carefully to what he's saying before casting her eyes at the spellbound Amber. "she's not going to leave here until the shiny new tech has been fully examined at the least. Sounds promising though, but I think we're going to have to spend the night somewhere before we can work on whatever it is you found." She looks rather pleased by the comment about Cindy liking her style though. "Well in that case, I should stop by her home and see if she's up for swapping designs and ideas."
Mahoney looks quite pleased with Amber's interest. He nods when she mentions survival gear. "Of course, of course young lady. Billy can show your friends the survival gear and anything else they may be interested in while we start your first lesson. Ah, and you even have a broken pokeball to practice on! Marvelous!" He seems to be quite enthused now, and immediately begins walking Amber through the various components of the piece of tech, how they work, and most importantly according to him, the best things to scavenge components from.
Billy shakes his head in exasperation touched with fondness at Mahoney foisting the job off on him, before turning to look at the rest of the group. "Well folks, if you need survival gear, we got lots. Tents, different kindsa boots, collection jars for honey and milk and stuff if you got a mon that can produce that. Oh, and we've got plenty of healing berries, and even some medicine. Potions mostly, but we've got some Pokerus Purgative in stock right now. Good thing too, Doc Hoskins is starting to run low on the Blue Royals to make more last I heard. Not a lot but it should be enough to see you to another settlement if you stick to the main roads." As he speaks he's gesturing to different sections of the store, before pausing and cocking his head in a manner somewhat similar to the canines that you'd captured so far. "So, what all do you folks need?"

Amber nods at the man. "Oh! One second," She says, turning back to the group. She hands the voucher to Christine. "Um, so you can get the gear? Less a thousand for the lesson." She turns back, moving closer to the man as they start talking shop. She's enthralled at the new information--it's /fascinating/!

"Oh... uh, me?" Christine asks. "Uh, okay, I guess." Ah, great. What were we supposed to get again? Survival equipment, yeah... I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask about that Suppressant thing. Looks like DeLoria was telling the truth after all. I guess miracles do happen... She runs over the options again in her head, before replying. "Uh, how much are the tents and the Purgative? Also, what kind of berries do you have?"

"Purified food, and that purgative if you've got it would be ideal." Cecil considered Amber and Christine for a moment. "If we're heading out of town for any reason, a survival knife of some kind ain't a bad call either for the girls." It was quite a bit to take in. Cecil had never slept in a tent, couldn't be rightly sure of what they'd even need for such an endeavor.
"Guess potions aren't really a bad idea either." What with Christine suffering from the world's worst case of damsel-in-distress known to mankind. All this standing around was making him fidgety.
