"Er, upswing in Psychic activity?" Christine asks, a little self-consciously, "Is there something dangerous that we should be on the lookout for, in particular?" Oh dear... Was DeLoria right? No, no, Clement's such a sweet little thing... and he was injured, too. I couldn't just leave him. Better that they just not find out. Avoid the problem altogether.

The woman focuses on Christine for a moment, while her own pokemon seems to be more amused by anything by Topaz' posturing, idly grooming its longish ears in a casual display of completely not caring about the little Pichu. "It's rumors only, but they've been coming in often enough for me to want to take precautions. Attacks on smaller settlements and caravans by pokemon, that always seem to have at least one or two psychics in the mix. Of course, how much of that is just someone failing to note what's involved in the attack and filling in the blanks later, or how much of it was dreamt up while facedown on a bar wondering where the hell the caravan that was supposed to come in has gone is debatable." She sounds slightly frustrated, before sighing. "Either way, I'm a firm believer in an ounce of prevention being worth more than a pound of cure."̡̡̤̮̐˜̡̤̝̲˜̡̡̞̪˜̝˜̢̡̳˜̢̫˜̡̰̤˜̨̨̡̯̩̝̮˜̟̝̮̝̲̝̪̯˜̰̤̝̰˜̡̤̝̲˜̢̨̡̝̥̠˜̰̫˜̯̤̫̳˜̱̬˜̫̪˜̡̰̤̥̮˜̡̨̮̣̱̝̮˜̡̨̡̯̟̤̠̱˪˜˜̡̡̡̪̠̬̪̠̪̰̅˜̡̫̬̮̝̰̫̮̯˜̝̪̠˜̨̨̯̩̝˜̵̢̨̝̩̥˜̡̫̬̮̝̰̥̫̪̯˪˜˜̰̅ˣ̯˜̨̝̯̫˜̡̡̞̪˜̝˜̨̡̳̤̥˜̡̯̥̪̟˜̡̰̤˜̨̝̯̰˜̡̨̰̮̝̲̥̪̣˜̡̨̞̮̫̰̤˜̡̯̤̫̳̠˜̱̬˜̥̪˜̰̫̳̪˨˜̝̪̠˜̡̯̫̩˜̢̫˜̡̰̤˜̣̱̝̮̠̯˜̡̤̝̲˜̡̡̞̪˜̡̣̰̰̥̪̣˜̝˜̨̨̡̥̰̰˜̵̝̪̰̯˜̡̫̲̮˜̤̝̲̥̪̣˜̰̫˜̡̨̠̝˜̳̥̰̤˜̱̟̥̝̪̈˜̝̪̠˜̤̥̯˜̨̨̯̩̝˜̨̡̯̰̝̞˜̢̫˜̨̣̥̮̯˜̝̪̠˜̵̣̱̯˜̵̨̫̪˪˜˜̮̫̩̂˜̡̰̤˜̨̣̮̱̩̞̥̪̣˜̵̫̱ˣ̡̲˜̧̡̬̥̟̠˜̱̬˨˜̡̰̤˜̬̥̩̬˜̤̝̯˜̡̡̞̪˜̵̡̨̯̰̝̠̥˜̡̥̪̟̮̝̯̥̪̣˜̤̥̯˜̡̬̮̥̟̯˜̡̠̱˜̰̫˜̡̞̥̪̣˜̡̰̤˜̵̨̫̪˜̡̣̝̩˜̥̪˜̰̫̳̪˪Ø Emilia turns her attention back to Amber, and looks slightly confused at the extra doodads she's putting on the table. "I'm afraid that items of that nature are better appraised by Mahoney. I can't really use the stuff, though it looks like you might have some decent scraps there. But, for a female Sneasel, I can offer you a couple of options. The first is ten thousand in caps, good to spend anywhere in the wastes. However, I can also give you a writ of credit to the stores here in Purewater, for sixteen thousand caps. The catch of course being it has to be spent here, but you could convert some of it to scrap like that," she motions at the small pile of technological odds and ends that Amber had produced, "Which is almost as good. You just have to find someone willing to take it in lieu of caps."əɯɵȧɲɥȠȹȹȥȠɳɵɲɥȠɴɨɡɴȠɅɭɩɬɩɡȠɩɳȠɧɩɶɩɮɧȠɴɨɥɭȠɡȠɬɩɴɴɬɥȠɢɩɴȠɯɦȠɡɮȠɵɰɳɥɬɬȠɯɮȠɴɨɥȠɳɮɥɡɳɥɬȮȠȠɅɩɴɨɥɲȠɳɨɥȧɳȠɭɯɲɥȠɤɥɳɰɥɲɡɴɥȠɦɯɲȠɤɡɲɫȠɴɹɰɥɳȠɴɨɡɮȠɳɨɥȠɬɥɴȠɯɮȬȠɯɲȠɳɨɥȧɳȠɡɬɳɯȠɰɩɣɫɥɤȠɵɰȠɯɮȠɴɨɥȠɦɡɣɴȠɴɨɡɴȠɴɨɥɳɥȠɰɥɯɰɬɥȠɤɯɮȧɴȠɳɥɥɭȠɴɯȠɫɮɯɷȠɴɨɥɩɲȠɡɳɳȠɦɲɯɭȠɡȠɨɯɬɥȠɩɮȠɴɨɥȠɧɲɯɵɮɤȠɷɨɥɮȠɩɴȠɣɯɭɥɳȠɴɯȠɤɥɡɬɩɮɧȠɷɩɴɨȠɴɨɥȠɗɡɳɴɥɳȮØ

"Oh, yeah, I can understand that," Christine agrees to the saying. "Especially since prevention is usually more accessible than the cure. But it's annoying how many patients simply refuse to admit there's anything wrong with them. Sometimes getting them to even try the prevention is tough..." Realizing she's probably lost her audience, she subsides to muttering "work cut out..."

Amber nods at the woman's first few statements, placing the items back in her back. She freezes, though, as the woman continues and looks up at her with wide eyes. "S-sixteen...thousand?" She stutters out, gaping. After a moment, a thought strikes her and she tilts her head. They don't use vault credits here--she doesn't actually know what 16,000 means in terms of buying power. Maybe sixteen thousand is only worth 1600 in terms of money she recognizes!
"I don't...I don't deal with, um, money. Much." She finally bites out. "I'm used to...ah...Bartering! I mean, um, trading stuff so I've never...had caps. Um. What is that worth? Is that...can we afford supplies with that or is that a dinner or..." She looks down, rubbing her arm uncomfortably.

"Could be a dinner, if you eat fancy and wanna be hand-fed by the mayor himself," Kat snickered. But the way little Amber was throwing about her clear lack of knowledge was unsettling to her. She didn't want Emilia to catch on... " Listen, I know tradin' and all that is right weird where you lot hail, but I'll keep ye on your feet, aight? Take the credit and I'll point out good buys down at Mahoney's. Y'all could do with some... uhh... fixed up travel gear. And a few filled bellies is never a bad thing." She grins.

Amber tilts her head, listening to Kat. Her eyes light up with joy and she flashes the woman a warm smile. "Thank you!" She chirps out, settling back into her chair. "Then ah, of course I'll accept the credit offer."

"Very well then, give me a moment and I'll have the writ drawn up." Indeed, it only takes a minute or so for the woman to produce a thin sheet of paper, which she carefully writes a note on with a pen, and then, oddly, pulls out a lump of wax, which she holds over the paper. The little roden charges up a small burst of energy, that he sends flying at the wax, aimed at a deep divot. It hits, melting some of the wax inside the divot, which is poured onto the sheet, and then stamped with some kind of strange metal device, leaving an imprint in the wax as it rapidly cools. Sealing documents with wax has come back into use as a way of verifying documents in cases where a holotape message could be easily forged. It's only really useful within town itself, and in part thansk to the fact that the blacksmith is capable of doing very intricate work, making the seal that the Town Council uses extremely hard to replicate. And if one's stolen, they all immediately switch to a new seal. "Here you are. Simply present this to Mahoney, Adrian, or Arthur, or any merchants down at the Big Drip, and they'll deduct your purchases from the total and bill my office." She passes the sheet to Amber, and takes possession of the pokeball. "If that's everything ladies, young man, then please have a good day. Oh, and Kat? She grimaces. "Tell Leona to get her ass in here as you leave please. It's time she and I had a talk." There's a determined glint in the woman's eye as she says that.

Kat grins devilishly. "As you say, mum!" She skips out of Emilia's office looking all too pleased with herself, dancing over to behind Leona's desk, where she leans down and whispers in the girl's ear. "Poppin' your tits and lickin' your lips won't save you this time, sweetcheeks," she purrs. "The Commander wants ta see ya. Don't think her sharp tongue's practicing for the kinda purpose you'd like, though, huh?" And she winks. Smiling sweetly from ear-to-ear, Kat skips back over to the strange group of girls-plus-weirdo, and leads them back to the door. "Mahoney next then, yeah? Maybe he'll have what you're lookin' for, Goldilocks," she says fondly to Amber, before casting another last sideways glance back at Leona. "And then we can visit Adrian... hm?"She cackles all the way through the door.

She leans out to accept the page. "Yes, ma'am," She says, tucking the coupon in her pocket. Topaz sniffs and glances away from the other electric mouse--but keeps glancing at it out of the corner of his eye.
Amber follows close behind Kat. She keeps her eyes averted from Leona's desk, the girl frankly frightening her a bit. So many new things today...she can't even keep the names straight, honestly, and just sort of nods helplessly as Kat suggests locations. She nuzzles down into Topaz, nuzzling the fuzzy creature and ignoring the sparks as she follows. She does look around curiously.

Christine just goes along with the group, outwardly calm, but inwardly fretting over what was said in there. Psychics? Problem? Will I get in trouble if they see me with one? What if they ask to see our weapons? And this girl...she seems trustworthy, but we've known her for all of an hour. Not to mention... where the hell is Deloria? I am going to slap him if he tries to pull something like this again, Hippocratic Oath be damned.

Leona's face went the color of bad milk at whatever Kat had whispered to her, but a commanding "WHILE I'M YOUNG PERKS!" from Emilia's office had the young woman scampering out before she could reply. Following Kat through the streets, she leads you back tothe shop you'd all met in front of, and leads you inside. The interior is cluttered with items, stacked on shelves, piled in boxes, set up in display cases along the walls. Everything is also rigidly organized, with every item type segregated from the others, and related items kept in close proximity. In the back is a stooped old man, hunched over some kind of mechanical part, using well-crafted tools to preform some kind of work, the sparks and light reflecting in his glasses. The man's entire focus seems to be on the part, even as he rasps out " "I'll be with you in a moment Katora. You and your new friends can browse as you wish, I need to get this part done before Trehan comes in again."Sitting in a corner near the workbench is a strange statue. It looks like nothing less than a giant head, carved out of some kind of deep purple rock, with its prominent nose a lurid red. As you all enter the shop, the statue moves, orienting itself so that it's looking directly at your party.

Amber's attention is almost immediately stolen as they enter the unique store. The old man, and even his strange moving statue, don't even hold a candle to her delight in seeing all the strange non-vault mechanics sitting around the store. As soon as she's given permission to look around, the small girl is away from the group and pouring over the various boxes and and shelves, muttering to herself. She'll pause when she comes near the man, tilting her head at the part, but otherwise darts to and fro as new objects catch her interest. What a wonderful shop! Amber is looking around! r_Y0Gpp64d6 Perception to notice any of the vault parts they're looking for anywhere in the piles (or anything else that's fascinating). 3d6 Tech Edu to identify those parts, if needed 3d6 Tech Edu to potentially identify what he's working on 3d6 Tech Edu to identify any other weird neat things on the shelves?

"Uhhhh..." Christine doesn't even know where to start in this place. Sure, she'd had some tech experience back in Medbay, but nothing like this. After a few minutes of trying to figure out stuff, she just gives up, and follows Amber around. Might as well stick with the person who's in their element.

Nodding to Mahoney, Kat skips over to the 'statue' and kneels down in front of it. "Hey, Bran, I'm back!" she says fondly, laying a hand on the ridge of stone just above its 'eyes'. "Any nasty people come in here while I was out? 'xcept Trehan, I mean," she said, lowering her voice to a giggling whisper for the last part. Hazel hopped onto the statue's head, nuzzling happily against the rock.

The "statue", Bran, makes pleased mumbling noises as Kat and Hazel descend upon it, while the old man, likely Mahoney, simply grumbles about soft-hearted old doorstops. Bunnie, Christine, you're seeing some odd looking items labeled under "scavenging" gear, obviously salvaged but looking to have been repaired to practical newness. ؙمغؽيّهٍيؽًؽؽفنؿغفًٌعنؼوفؽػؽًهؾامنفأفًٌهنهنؽًـؽلؾٌـهٍؿـنهٌؽنهٍؿـٌهمعكؽعػهمولؽٌؽكفٌعٌعلل؆جـؽوعيٌٌـعٌٌـؽهلؼمعنفًُهيكفنؿهنلههكًٌهغؽعُعٌؽيؾلهُيؽؿٍلعٌهيعنؼوٍيفٌّػـؽػكًعمولؽي؆رهٍكنهُؾهيعؾعػٌٌـعٌعًًٌّؽمًٍفنؿٌـهًؽنؽؽؼًعدعٌؽيتؽؿٍلعٌفهن؛ـفوفنٌـؽمعفنؾيعمؽػهنٌيهللفنؿٌـؽعٌٍهمعٌؽؼًٍغًًٌّؽمً؆اٌـؽيفٌؽمًعووؽعيٌهغؽًعلَعؿؽؼًػعننفنؿعنؼونؽٍمعٌفػًًٌّؽمًفنػلٍؼفنؿعَؽيّػهمولؽِهنؽٌـعٌلههكً؆؆؆ُؽللفٌؼهؽًنٌلههكلفكؽفٌُعًمعؼؽؾهيفنؼًٌٍيفعلُهيك؆جـؽيؽًعـعلؾًػيعٌػـؽؼهًٌٍّمغهلهنهنؽهؾٌـؽفنٌؽيفهيػعًؽًٌـعٌّهٌٍـفنكّهٍيؽػهؿنفْؽؾيهمٌـؽمؽؼفػعلغعّغٌٍهٌـؽيٌـعنٌـعٌ؆؆؆فٌـعًّهًٌٍٍموؽؼ؆עעرهٍعلًهؾفنؼعلعيؿؽنٍمغؽيهؾٌههلًفنعنهٌـؽيًؽػٌفهنفؼؽنٌفػعلٌهٌـهًؽػهنٌعفنؽؼفنٌـؽٌههلػعًؽّهٍؼؾهٍنؼعٌٌـؽُيؽػك؆جـؽّيؽولعػؽؼنؽٌٌِهٌُهؼفًولعّػعًؽً؆انؽػهنٌعفنًعنٍمغؽيهؾُـعٌعووؽعيٌهغؽوهكؽغعللًغٌٍفنؼفؾؾؽيؽنٌػهلهيًعنؼوعٌٌؽينًُـفلؽٌـؽهٌـؽيػعًؽـعًًهمؽهؾٌـؽًعمؽهؼؼـعيؼًـؽللؽؼؾيٍفٌٌـعٌ؛ؽػفلًنؽُؽًٌعػىٍفًفٌفهنـعؼؿفَؽنّهٍُـؽنّهٍؼٌعكؽنػًٌٍهؼّهؾجهوعْ؆جـؽّيؽلعغؽللؽؼؙويفػهينًعنؼًهيٌؽؼهٌٍغّػهلهي؆جـؽيؽعيؽًهمؽغلعػكيؽؼعنؼعلعيؿؽىٍعنٌفٌّهؾٌـؽؿيؽؽن؆ثفٌٌفنؿفنعؼفًولعّـهلؼؽينؽٌٌِهؽعػـوّيعمفؼهؾؾيٍفٌفًعؼفؾؾؽيؽنٌوهكؽغعلل؆Ø Finally, the old man sets his tools down with a satisfied nod, placing the part he'd been working on under the counter. Resettling his glasses, he peers at you all. "Welcome to Mahoney's yongsters. It's always nice to see new faces. Especially such pretty ones." His smile is more grandfatherly than anything, positively transforming the man's dour face. "Now, what can I do for you all?"

Amber's eyes light up as she looks around, and at one point she just ends up spinning in place looking around. She darts to the pokeballs sitting on a shelf, admiring their wealth of colors and, oh, goodness, the tools she found match these! Is this what they're for? How /fascinating!/ She peers at the fruits, then at the pokeball next to them, before she's struck with a realization--had Cecil's little man given her the starting piece of a kind of pokeball? How amazing!
The old man's voice only barely brings her from her admiration. She turns to face him, but as he speaks, she can't help but glance away every few moments, back at the pokeballs or the strange equipment with the medical bay's symbol, or the part in his hand that she /knows/ has to contain a regulatory chip.
His question attracts her, though, and she looks back at him. He looks kind, she notes absentmindedly. "We're looking for some things," Amber says, glancing at the part in his hands. "Water regulation chips, food processor mainframe chips, omnikits..." She holds out a finger for each, considering. Something strikes her and she pauses, glancing at the old man. She glances back at the pokeball kits.
"And...and information? Maybe?" She says, still looking over. "On those. I found some tools a few days ago, you see. I'd...like to learn how to use them, if that's possible." She flushes a little at the request, glancing down.

Christine looks around to see if there's anything amidst all of this...stuff...to see if she can find something recognizable. Preferably something medical.

Mahoney considers Amber for a long moment through sharp eyes. "Mmm, interesting. Quite the shopping list young lady. Omnikits... well I'm afraid that the small stockpile of those we do have is reserved for use by the Water Plant, and I know that Anthony won't let them go for love nor money. Food processor regulation chips? Haven't seen one of those in years, not since the blue goo incident with that traveling "chef" and his attempt at refurbishing a food printer." He chuckles dryly in amusement, before refocusing on Amber, "Said he'd picked it up out of a factory further west, close to or even inside the Old City. As for water regulation chips... we may have one or two extras, but again Anthony likely won't let them go for anything cheap."
His eyes light up slightly as you mention the toolkit. "Ah, a fellow tinkerer eh? And you found a complete toolkit? Fascinating, usually one has to piece the damn things together through scavenging, or buying the separate parts from people like me. Yes, yes I'd be willing to provide lessons on how to properly utilize them. It'd cost though, a thousand caps," he holds out one gnarled finger in warning.
Christine, searching through the store, you find a number of medicines, each shelf labeled and the bottles used to contain them color-coded. The man has potions, Super Potions, antitoxins, anti-paralysis elixers, and burn creams all neatly stacked as well. There are also a number of berries in bins; Cheri, Chesto, Rawst, Pecha, Oran and Sitrus, names that mean nothing to you. but you notice that they tend to be kept near remedies to different ailments, with the last two being placed beneath the general health restoratives. There are also bandages in a neat pyramid of white rolls.
As you're all browsing, Bunnie and Kat, you both notice a side-door open, admitting a very muscular young man carrying a large load of boxes from what appears to be a storeroom. You also see someone enter from the front, though it takes you a moment to recognize them as Cecil. The leather jacket is there, but rather than be slicked back and held in place by grease, his hair is hanging free, and actually looks freshly washed.
Whatever other observations or statements were about to be made are cut off with a crash as the man with the boxes trips against a shelf, sending his armful flying. Mahoney simply sighs. "Damnit Billy..."

Amber listens carefully, tilting her head. She bites her lip, thinking. "How much is 'not cheap'?" She asks after a moment, crossing her arms. "If nothing else, we can save...."
She pulls out her kit of tools. "I...don't know, to be honest. Is it complete? Are there more tools that I need?" She looks down into the kit, poking things around. "And, I...I would like those lessons, maybe. And...Oh, Kat said we should look for survival gear?"
She turns at the sound of a crash, cutting herself off, and peers at the two men who have appeared. She recognizes Cecil absentmindedly, but turns back to Mahoney without responding to the situation.

They hadn't gone even a few steps from this joint unless the circled back at some point. There was enough word of them around town that Cecil was dubious of the notion that they'd simply stayed in the small general store where they had made first contact with Cindy. Amber didn't seem to register his return at all, and Christine was distracted. It was almost better this way, but his entire foray was pointless without someone to share it with.
Lazily sauntering through the store towards Christine, he leaned into her blind spot and said in a low voice, a smirk on his face. "Try not to look too surprised that I came back, I might get all offended. You and me, we need to have a little heart to heart." Tone moving from jovial to businesslike. Cecil was careful to curb any tone from the statement that may have come off as threatening or antagonistic.
