At 2:01pm, the sun blares over the Ammiot capitol Beryl. Thinner, north-south alleys manage to hide their cobble streets in the shade of mostly blue-gray stone, but Beryl's semi-famous Peace Plaza is inundated with summertime ultraviolet. Much of the venerable, stone pentagram that serves as pathway has been recently cracked and ripped up. The grass between these lines is more obviously abused, with signs that living things were given similar treatment upon it.
Half an hour has passed since the grand opening of the Joint Hammuric Pokemon League, and most people who were present are now gone. The escape efforts had been rapid for most, once everything had broken down and gone mad. Humans and pokemon fled Peace Plaza for the rest of Beryl. Not all of those that made it out were tame, and nearby radios had been abuzz with news, rumor, and public service announcements.
Some were unable to leave, even after the mayhem had diminished. A Dragonite that had suffered an attack from the Gardevoir of the Fairy Gym Leader, Professor Willow, was obliged to look after a Dragonaire until emergency services were mistrustfully allowed to treat them. Willow was also required to stay, being the most qualified if the Dragons proved fickle.
Beryl's own Ghost prodigy, Eli Cohen had left after the combat ended, not seeming particularly effected by the affair. He didn't even bother looking at the Zebstrika he and his Gengar had left burned and wrecked, or the small group that had accumulated around it. The Chancey tending to the fallen quadruped only gave Cohen's passing enough thought to frown at him.
Leader Mace had left at some point, wordlessly. He'd had the grace to sheath his blades and withdraw the Bugs that had defended civilians in the conflict.
In contrast, the Normal Leader Yvette had stayed behind and comforted the form of Professor Yew, who her Ursaring had unearthed from the stage the Dragonite had wrecked with a Hyper Beam. Yew's abdomen had been compromised by one of the steel beams meant to reinforce that stage, and it had been deemed best to wait for a medical professional before disseminating the two entities. When finally Yew was taken away for proper medical care, Yvette's dress had been dyed irrevocably, and she retired to the City Hall at one corner of the pentagonal Plaza.
It had been determined Beryl would require a new mayor, as Chaput had needed to quite suddenly share the space he'd been occupying with two Aggrons, who proved much more solid than both he and his podium. The resulting version of Chaput had been tastefully removed beneath a white, waterproof shroud.
All this having come to pass, a Chancey finishes her care of the downed Zebstrika mother. The wild pokemon has not regained consciousness, but her breathing has calmed, and her skin is no longer boiled. Only singed patches of missing fur indicate that she had been recently aflame. Her two Blitzle children stand diligently beside her. Through a supernatural bond, her son projects his relief to the trainer Rel, before turning to look at her. Some time ago, he agreed to a proposition of hers, and now she feels his determination supercede trepidation. He is prepared for joining Rel on a trip to become stronger.
The Chancey's trainer has had time to see to Severity during her pink companion's healing, and requests the thing tend to Julia, before leaving to find someone who can translate these pokemon to their natural habitats. The pokemon does her job with a very deep satisfaction, supernaturally mending what the Zebstrika had wrought on the athlete's frame. The female Blitzle turns from her mother for the first time in a while, curious.
Similar services have already been dispensed for virtually all of Peace Plaza, including all the nearby trainers and pokemon who had been injured.
Most civilians have vacated Peace Plaza by now, and four groups constitute the primary inhabitants. Firstly are police and reporters. The latter exist mostly on the edges of the Plaza, as the former is devoting some effort to keeping them there. Inside this black-and-white barrier exist only a dozen or so human civilians, fewer tamed pokemon, and still fewer conscious, wild pokemon. This last group is being carefully attended by specialists with hastily purchased food and water, and occasionally encouraged to "Please take the nice Kadabra's hand with me and think of home." Such a service is usually expensive, but was deemed necessary after the Dragonite loudly spurned an offered pokeball.
Various Beryl cops are beginning to get an expression that suggests less civilians would make this day easier.
