i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah182/chrystalrogue/Scarlett%20Oak%20post%20avatar_zpspnywqiog.jpg When a rock went sailing past her head, Scarlett wisely decided enough was enough. She dropped the rest of the pebbles on the ground and, dusting her hands off, looked to Terry. "I'm honestly not sure," she said. "Butterfree's not at a disadvantage, offensively, and Charmeleon was bred with Dragon Claw, but defensively my team is... weak? I think I'll need to be picking up some more Pokemon, maybe train my Nidoran and Pikachu. He mostly uses Fossils, and none of those are immune to electricity, so..." she shrugged. "It'll be interesting."

"Buzz is being a huge pain to beat. It's not your fault, Amber. He's setting the bar quite higher than normal, and usually your first Gym Battle is decided by your Team Composition. I had quite a struggle too. Give it a try once you pick up some more Badges.". He patted her back and smiled at her. He knew very well what it felt like. "You'll kick his butt next time."
He found himself walking around while Marshall bounced around, and somehow he was observing Scarlett, on another part of the pond. He wasn't sure if she had noticed him nearby, but he didn't know how to talk to her after that awkward moment and her mentioning an ex. Uninvited thoughts walked into his head. What if he was handsome-looking? What if he was stronger than him? He surely was very good-looking.
He stood up. Terry was in the conversation. Finally. He could get in. It wouldn't be awkward at all.
"Whew. Finally a Gym Spot has a better chance at. What're you gonna throw at Peter, Scarlett?"

Terry absorbs this knowledge and nods. "Peter does prefer to use Aerodactyl, Kabuto and Omanyte. Though the latter two aren't known for speed, Aerodactyl is. So the best decision team wise would be to use something that can tank a Rock Slide or two from Aerodactyl and either beat it or cripple its speed. It'll probably be the biggest challenge and Peter's only commonly used pokemon that is capable of Mega Evolution, if he chooses to make use of that like Buzz did."

"I see. So my best bet is probably to train Quaver up. He'll take water and rock moves like it's nothing. And, for Aerodactyl... An electric type would do. I hope your dad doesn't hear me say this, but I'm considering nabbing a Pikachu from the forest if I find one" Churc replied, thoughtul.
That, or a Mareep. Their wool was incredibly soft, he reckoned. Shockingly so.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah182/chrystalrogue/Scarlett%20Oak%20post%20avatar_zpspnywqiog.jpg "He will," Scarlett said. "Every Gym Leader will; Marina in Cerulean switches it up with her Blastoise and Gyarados. It looks like Mega Aerodactyl's the one to really watch out for; most of the rest of his team is kinda slow and tanky. Dr. Jones doesn't take battling nearly so seriously as Buzz does. He's more into the science of Pokemon than anything else.
"I'm not sure about Pikachu. They're kinda fragile, and go down if you sneeze at them."

"I know, but what other electric types are there around?" Church asked the girl.
"They're very cute too" He added, almost to himself. "Anyway, I'm not sure how Spot will take Flying type moves..."

"We're all here! Lets get this show on the road." Marshall glanced up at the sun, already high in the sky. "Walk and talk!"

"There are Voltorb and Magnemite, though they're best found at the old Power Plant. I don't know where an Elekid could be found, but it'd make a good choice. Of course we could always run into an Electrike or Emolga or something." Terry says, following Marshall. "But that'd be pure luck."

Amber was grateful when the conversation turned. Though she knew she should be thankful for the advice, her pride was a bit prickly. Chime let out another cute ring, and Amber nuzzled his face. A small smile appeared on her face watching Marshall training with the pebbles. The talk of strategy excited Amber. Though she was proud of Walker and Neesha, she had been spending most of her time training the two. It would be nice to let some of her other pokemon out and train. "If we leave now we should be in Pewter city in plenty of time." Amber announced despite having a severe lack of knowledge on how long it would take to get through the forest.

"Elekid seems nice. Or Voltorb, although I'd rather find a good-tempered one." Church continued as he walked. "Could there be any Shinx nearby? They're made of pure awesomeness"

Terry nods and checks something on his pokedex. "You'd think that, but Emolga are exceptionally fast and have really good access to paralyzing moves, which is exactly what you want to slow down an Aerodactyl. Add in Volt Switch and an Emolga has good odds of crippling the Aerodactyl and bringing in your heavy hitter." He says, very optimistic. "It's basically the same strategy I used against Buzz's Beedrill and I may may do so again against Peter. My Joltik is exceptionally fast and good at slowing foes down."

Some time later, Marshall heard a noise and got separated from the group. He battled a few ghosts with Terry's help, and managed to catch a Phantump! Returning to his group, Marshall comes staggering out of the forest, clutching his chest, several prominent purple welts visibly concaving his skin exposed through his ripped shirt. He is grinning like an idiot though.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah182/chrystalrogue/Scarlett%20Oak%20post%20avatar_zpspnywqiog.jpg “What did the blockhead do this time?” Scarlett demanded irritably when she saw the two emerging from the underbrush. She had grown increasingly nervous as they hiked through the Forest, even jittery and jumpy; she jerked visibly when the other two popped out of the brush. Her Charmeleon had picked up on her anxiety, and the red reptile was agitated and ready to fight anything and everything. Visible through the trees was a small cottage in a meadow, wood-framed with white-plastered walls and milky-white glass paneled doors presenting an image of ancient and modern seamlessly blended together. A raised porch beneath a sheltered canopy surrounded the cottage, with a garden plot filled with berry bushes and a few apricorn trees in the front lawn. A few Combees buzzed from plant to plant, pollinating the flowers and tending to the garden.

"I went exploring, and found an incredibly powerful pokemon! If you are nice, I might consider letting you see it." Marshall says, nonchalantly slipping an arm behind his head in a boastful stance before wincing and guarding his chest once more. "Oh hey look! Maybe those people can help with explosion attacks? If nothing else, berries taste awesome, and it's nice to have food that didn't come from a replicator."

"Whoa there, big guy. Better ask for permission first. Let's go knock at the door and see who's inside, shall we?" Said Church, stopping the big guy in his tracks. "Maybe they're friendly and want to share. And if they're not..."

http "Oh jeez Marshall." Amber sighed while digging into her pack. She knew potions weren't as good as a well deserved rest, but knowing Marshall he would insist on hiking through the forest. She grimaced a bit finding her last potion, realizing she should have restocked like Church had. Then again, she didn't have any Gym winnings so she wouldn't have gotten too many. She silently handed Marshall her potion and turned her attention to the little cottage. She walked catiously towards it, trying to scope out the place a little bit. If whatever had attacked Marshall got him that badly, his and Terry's pokemon were probably hurt. Perception Check cause why not? o6DPU41p5d6 5d6

Marshall looked at the potion he was being offered before shaking his head. "Thanks Amber, I appreciate it, but I'll manage. Worse comes to worst, I have a potion of my own somewhere in my bag, if it isn't broken. Seriously though! Explosions!" Marshall pantomimes a detonation before gasping in pain again and clasping his hands at his side. "I'm fine. I think I might just not fight the rest of the way though. Lets go see if people who live amongst Weedles are friendly."

As the kids approached, a little old man straightened up from between two berry bushes. He was stooped with age, face a maze of wrinkles and lines beneath a pair of bushy white eyebrows in stark contrast to his hairless dome. He slowly and deliberately unfolding a pair of glasses from his shirt pocket before placing them on his nose and peering at the teens. “Ah! You must be here for the berries, yes? Good for your Pokemon, they are. Only reason youngsters like you come here, yes.” He brushed his dirty hands off on his jeans, chuckling good-naturedly with a wheezing, hacking laugh. “Well? Speak up?”

"Oh, hello!" Said Church, smiling at the man.
"We were just passing through, really. We're on our way to Pewter City and came upon your cottage. We could use a few berries, yeah, but I'd feel really bad about not giving you anything in return." He added. Taking stuff from strangers, especially the elderly, was just plain wrong. "We're all Trainers, maybe we could do something for you in return?"
