The Pokémon, for the most part, just wander about. Flying Colours seems to take the time to visually drink in the colours of every individual flower... starting as far away from Fallen Star as possible.
Fallen Star seems to be very confused at the lack of trees and obstructions and... aaaaagh, the ground is colourful and causing tickling and sneezing and... achoo. No, no, it doesn't like it here at all. The everything is at perfect snout height to be annoying, and there's nothing to smash the irritation out on...

Parish guides the boar's attention to large stones at the edge of the valley, content to let the others roam as they like. He whiles the hours away with the company of his friends without interruption until the sun begins to dip. There were no responsibilities for the remainder of the day, save the care of his friends. With their playtime as resolved as it could get, he made for home. He was hungry and it was about that time.

Fallen Star half-heartedly slams at the boulders to get some irritation out, but it's not the same when it wasn't his stomping grounds... Sigh.
So, while the rest of the Pokémon bounce around, the boar instead sulks and mopes, just watching everyone else, and refusing any consolation. Besides... everything else is so big. The island seemed big before... but it's not actually...
So, with the happy and sulky 'mon rounded up, Parish makes for the mess hall once more. Thankfully he doesn't run into Mason, but the other Explorators from his Trainee squad are there, scattered about.

Parish still isn't in the best mood for company, so he gives Faith a polite wave and has a seat across from Shane. He hasn't really formed any strong opinions about the boy in any direction. He lacks focus, but there wasn't really anything wrong with that. Shane probably had the hardest time with their exams. "So, glad the testing and scrutiny is over, and you can move on to actual assignments at your own pace?". He tried to initiate conversation.

"Oh, hey," Shane says. "I didn't mind 'em." They shrug. "I don't much care what I'm doing. I just wanted to be anywhere but home, really. And this gives me a lot of anywheres."
"It's funny, really," they say, picking at their plate. "They say there's no place like home. And it's true. But they always imply it's for a good reason."

"I think I have heard that before.". Parish pondered. "It couldn't have been all bad though? You must have had a favorite field, or tree, or lake. Places you will miss while you wander. I think about a few spots around Rustboro back home sometimes.". The boy tucked into the stew for the evening with proper manners. "Otherwise it wasn't really home in the first place, right? We can pick where we belong."

"It's home insomuch as I was born there. That's it," they say bitterly. "Everything else that was good, it's been tainted by my family. I'm never going back."
"There were good memories, but it hurts more knowing that I'll never have those again." They sigh, and shake their head, before pleasantly smiling. "So... I just don't really think about it. I won't get hurt, nor will I ever be tempted to return there. I'll find my own place, elsewhere."

"Never is wrong.". Parish corrects them. "Improbable or statistically unlikely maybe, but not never. You'll have happy memories again, you just have to find the right place to nurture them. Thankfully, you have a lot of places to look!". His sunny disposition tempered slightly by the certainty of his dissenting opinion.
"I'd like to find a place that there is always something new to explore. Which might be right where I am."

"New ones, sure," Shane says. "But not ones similar to the old. Those people, those places... it will never happen again." They shake their head. "But it's why I have to keep moving onwards. Forever moving. Finding a place that I can be happy in again."

"Good luck Shane.". Parish let the conversation peter out and tucked into his meal with quiet earnest. There wasn't a whole lot to say if their mind was already made up on the matter. He hadn't realized their home was so bad. Well, not their home, their family.
It was beyond the boy's understanding. Family was almost everything back home. So much that he carried his parents names alongside his own.

The meal progresses quietly, interrupted only by Faith wordlessly dropping a small container of cookies in front of Shane and Parish, before quickly leaving the mess hall.
"...I can never tell what's up with her," Shane says, a puzzled look on their face. "You have any idea?"

"I think she enjoys watching people. Likes to understand how they work. She once told me what holds each of us back, without any sort of judgement. Mason seems to think she is nosey, but I don't really mind.". He took one of the cookies and gave it a sniff before popping it into his mouth.
"Nothing to hide, so I can just enjoy the attention, I guess."

The cookies seem like ordinary store bought ones. Not the best, but passable, and they're gone in short order.
"Eh, I can agree with nosey," Shane says, nodding. "But it's always just about the weirdest things, it feels. I dunno. At least you and the others I can more or less tell what's up, for the most part." He laughs. "Can't say I'm complaining about it now, though. Sorry if I kinda… opened up like that. Got a letter from home recently, trying to get me to come back. I'm a little raw, emotionally right now, I guess."

"That's okay. Sometimes people just need to make a little noise, like Pokemon do. You were upset, and you vocalized it. Someone was here to listen, so you probably feel a little better. That, and I didn't know it wasn't supposed to be done like that in the first place? So if it was strange for you to do that, I had no idea.". He blinked a few times, considering Shane.
Emotionally raw. Parish probably had never been there before. It didn't sound too great. "Would it help you to talk about any of that stuff?"

"You're a peculiar person, Parish," Shane says, giving a bit of a smile. "Not that that's a particular problem. Anyways, I think I'm good, but thanks for the offer. I guess it was better it was now than somewhere it'd be a real problem."

"Thanks, I try to be proud of it. It was nice having dinner with you Shane. You can have the rest of Faith's cookies, they weren't very good. She probably baked them forever ago." He rose to leave, uncertain how to spend the remainder of his evening. He wasn't really tired yet, and his Pokemon had frolicked for the day already.

"Well... word of advice," Shane says, laughing. "Usually not best to say someone's stuff isn't that good to them, unless they're asking directly for critique. Sometimes it helps to... massage the truth a bit. Don't say they weren't that good, necessarily. Just... thank her for the gift, if it comes up. Don't touch how much you enjoyed them."

"...Massage?". How did one rub words? Much less a concept so subjective as truth. Oh, if they were a gift, he shouldn't say he didn't like them? If they were a bad gift, shouldn't Faith know? That way she didn't give him more bad cookies?
Except Faith prided herself on knowing the ins and outs of people. Oh, that made more sense. If she didn't figure out he disliked her cookies on her own merit, she would get upset. So he wouldn't make comment on Faith's cookies unless asked. And then maybe give her the massage. To soothe the painful truth.
He was silent, but the gears were clearly turning. "Thanks Shane, I'll see you around okay?"

"Yeah, see you 'round." The other waves, and continues idly munching on cookies.
Parish mostly wanders, looking for something to do, before he hears Rebecca's voice come up from behind him. "Oh, hey, Parish!"
"So," she asks, when she's caught up. "How'd your thing go?"

"It was pretty good I guess. Falling Star didn't like it but he is... Unique. He wants big spaces but he wants obstacles to throw himself into. I think maybe he misses the woods on his island. The mountain meadow I like from back home is almost the same here, but he sulked the whole time.". The boy admitted, before he tilted his head as though something distant had snagged his attention.
"Hey Rebecca, why do you spend so much time with me? Mason pointed it out earlier in another one of his fits. He was actually being more rude then usual."
