"That sounds like a good plan there," Armstrong says, nodding. "Always good to know your strengths, weaknesses, and limitations. Your partners are your only lifelines out there..."
"Nah, I'm not gonna go back to the field," Rebecca says. "I don't think I could give up having hot meals and a soft place to sleep anymore." She laughs. "Someone's just trying to pull Operators for his project, because he feels like it'll only appeal to fieldwork people. If you're going, I might go. I like working with your... unique perspective. Certainly better than most of the rest of your group..."

"If I had a nickel for every time I've heard that, I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot of money, but it is really strange that it has happened twice.". Parish gave Rebecca a goofy grin. "I'm pretty comfortable working with you, and it would be good to have you along. Ah... I suppose I should clarify on... The mental handshake thing I didn't really talk about much before. Do either of you have a Pokemon that you did something unique with in the last hour? Demonstrating it would be easier."

"Not here," Armstrong says, shaking his head. "I've been stuck here today."
"I went for a ride on my break," Rebecca says, releasing a ghostly horse into the office. It's rather cramped now, but everyone fits. "Can Selena tell you where we went, I wonder?" she asks, petting the horse's muzzle.
Performing the handshake, there are memories of going along the coast of Mossdeep, before soaring up the hill to the Space Center, eating some sugar cubes, and riding back to the Aether Gateway center.

"You went along the beaches, and had a flight to the space center. She got to have a few sugar cubes which she really appreciated, then came back here. She prefers to not be in such an enclosed space, and only leaves the odd hoofprint on the sand to confuse people.". Parish blinked a few times before reaching up to stroke Selene's favorite spot.
"It gives recent memories, feelings towards certain activities, very limited but clear communication. Sometimes instincts over emotions, it depends on the Pokemon and what is driving them.". He explained. "If I concentrate really hard, I can sense what they do. See what they see, hear what they hear. I got up to all kinds of trouble with Oops when I first... oops.". He laughs, having just trapped himself.

"...impressive," Rebecca says. "Yeah, you got that all right. Alright, sorry for the trouble, Selene. We'll be back under the sun soon." She recalls the horse.
"I remember you showing that off with the Combee, back when it was found in the city," Armstrong says.
"Well, you had better not have gotten up to anything naughty with it," Rebecca says, staring pointedly at Parish.

"I just wanted to be clear that they aren't gut feelings or odd hunches, and to make sure Rebecca understood if she is going to be my Operator going forward.". A little color blotted his cheeks. "I don't know what you mean by naughty, I'm a gentleman and a scholar!". He laughed shyly, brushing his bangs out of his eyes.
"... Though if how often I have put my nose places it doesn't belong on expeditions is any indication, those traits don't really mean a lot in the pursuit of answers.". There was a clear look as though he were choosing his next words carefully.
"I just remembered something that needs doing! I'll talk to you both later!". ESCAPE. ABORT. FREEDOM.

Rebecca squints at Parish as he makes his grant escape, with the captain laughing. "Good luck." The Combee follows happily behind him.
And he's free! Away from that awkward conversation... and running right into another.
"What's the rush, LaBrasta," Mason asks, mockingly. "Off to meet up with your girlfriend?"

"I don't have anyone I am intimately familiar with.". Parish blinked at Mason a few times. "If I did it probably isn't your business anyway.". He shared a sense of confusion and mild annoyance with his build-a-friend. "I was talking to the Captain about an upcoming project, and now I am not. I just happen to be moving quickly."

"...stupid," Mason mutters, shaking his head. "I don't know what Becca sees in you, spending all that time around you. Literally anyone else in our group would have been better, but no, she hangs with the freak. Even Little Miss Noseypants would have been better." He scoffs in exasperation.

Parish's normally pleasant neutral expression flat-lined. "What Becca chooses to do with her time is also none of your business. Maybe if you worried about building yourself up more, and spent less time tearing other people down, she'd spend some time with you too."

"What do you know about people?" Mason demands. "No, really. You don't know how anything works, least of all people. You have no idea what's normal. I saw that on our expedition. The instant you were off of supervision, off in your own little crazy world." He shakes his head again.

"More than you apparently." Parish shrugs his shoulders and starts to walk off without further explanation. At this point he had to take satisfaction in the fact that Mason was vexed, and leave it at that. There wasn't any winning by remaining in the conversation. There was still some internal grumbling, but the pleasant demeanor of the Combee was enough to keep his chin up. The Pokemon's entire society had fallen and it had been abandoned with no battery for who only knew how long.
Here it was, just enjoying the sunshine and hovering around at about chest height. Today was a good day to be a Combee. It was a pretty good day to be a Parish still too. "I must be doing something right, my marks are better than yours." Parish added as a parting shot.

"We'll see about that..." Mason grumbles. But he doesn't pursue, and instead continues on his original path. Leaving Parish alone (well, alone in a scattering of people around) in the sunny natural courtyard.
The Combee seems to just be in awe of the sky, staring at it, mouths agape, to the exclusion of all else.

"It's amazing isn't it?" Parish asked the Pokemon with an appreciative smile. "Having nothing between you and an endless horizon? The blue of the sea reflected off the sky, all the little facets of the world coming together to make clouds and weather, light and darkness, nature and time." He's content to just sit nearby while it takes it all in. This world was as much an exploration for it, as its world had been for him. "We need to come up with a name for you. You three? I don't know how Combee work. What's it like having three faces?"

The bee beeps and buzzes as it bobs around, just, looking at everything. It seems like it probably wants to take a closer look at things, but is disciplined enough to not leave his side or get distracted.
It may not be able to tell him what it's like having multiple faces... but he could always find out for himself.

"It's alright, you can go where your heart takes you.". Parish does tap the Pokemon's senses, giving it free leave to explore Mossdeep, while sharing a few of the more interesting locales he knows of. "Happy Birthday, by the way. Or re-birthday I guess. First birthday on Dimension Alpha 1.". Parish sends the impressions of joy, celebration, and being somewhere new/else.

It's never really clear from memories, but being able to directly compare what he's seeing with the other shows that the vision three faces gives is mainly a much wider field of view, with the ability to focus on a few things at once. It's a little unsetting.
It's always interesting to see how Pokémon see the world differently, though. With Oops, the shadows are much, much shallower, and there's a vague colouring of the world based on how things smell. Well, that's at least what he eventually figured out, since the ghost doesn't seem to actually smell. He hasn't done the same with his other 'mon, yet.
The bee, wandering around, seems to mostly concentrate on the small, natural things. Looking at each flower, or wandering around the trees. The buildings are glossed over after a moment or two, as are the people. There's nothing that interesting about them. Nothing relevant. It's the wind, and the sun, and the natural everything that it seeks.

"You didn't have any of it back home, did you?". Parish asked it as they moved about. "That's how I feel when I go new places too. It must have been very hard being without plants and sunlight. I don't mind it for a little while, but the big empty we found you in made my skin crawl, and it wasn't the cold.". Parish passed along his feelings of the Pokemon's home, and how they found it.
"There is a big field up in a mountain valley you might really like. Gram used to take me up there. Talked about how it was where she met her second wife. I don't really understand the appeal, but Dad said I would when I was older. About the wives I mean, not the flowers. Girls have such weird rituals. Come on, I will show you, and maybe we can give Fallen Star a chance to relax a little."

The bee doesn't seem to understand any of it, either, but happily follows along, humming along the way. It's a bit of a staggered journey, though, as it keeps getting distracted by stuff, and then flitting back to Parish. Despite the permission to wander, it doesn't seem to like to go far. It seems to have adopted him as its caretaker or whatever.
It takes some time, but eventually he climbs the hills, up and over, and eventually descends into the valley of flowers.

"It's a nice place to get away from people.". He explains to the Combee, letting his Pokemon out to frolic for awhile. Hero seems enraptured with the colors, hopping from bundle of plants to bundle of plants just to stare at them. Eventually he settles on following Fallen Star around, as the most colorful thing here, burbling and giggling as though it were a game.
Oops circles the Combee, seemingly unsure of which face is the right one. Three faces was just excessive.
