There doesn't really seem to be any sort of pattern that he can see. Or Rebecca can see. "Huh, weird. I don't know if it's indicative of anything making it grow like that, or it's just a property of the world. Some realms are like that, where their natural laws just sort of... encourage that."
Down beneath the powder, he finds more packed snow. Thankfully with his more potent body heat, he's able to fairly easily concentrate and melt through with enough time, scrabbling down a foot or two to reveal some dirt ground. It doesn't seem like much is growing down here, but it would also be decently easy to tunnel through, probably. Assuming things got through the snow. The snow layers at least seem a little bit less inside the broad branches of the forest.

"Looks like the snow acts as an insulating layer to keep the ground from freezing, and the soil itself is really loose because there isn't a root structure binding it together in mats.". He works some of the soil between his fingers, and melts himself a track back out of his pit.
"Finding anything here is going to be following tracks... It probably lives in or under the snow... Or maybe... Up the trees. I'll be back in a few minutes Falling Star. If you need me just make some noise."
Selecting one of the strange geometric plants at random, the boy started up it.

With the lack of sturdy lower branches, it's not quite possible to climb up into the trees, unfortunately. Not with Parish's skills. This must be what Faith meant when she said she liked just being able to climb as her favorite adaptation.
It does seem like maybe there might be a bit of a sparser clearing somewhere within, though it's hard to tell for sure from the ground if the branches and trunks clear out.

"It's kind of eerie Rebecca, there are no birdcalls or Pokemon hunting, growing, or foraging. Just a bit of wind. It's not like that one place, but still super distant.". Releasing Flying Colors, he kept the serpent close and warm for a moment while he explained the view from above would be very helpful, and maybe more colorful. It was welcome to huddle against him for warmth after a quick jaunt skyward and back.

"Yeah, not all places have fauna. Some just have plants, though they've evolved a bit differently without pollinators," Rebecca says. "I've seen that myself, where it was basically just a giant forest that was one tree, according to scientists. Pretty neat."
Colours floats up into the sky, vanishing from sight, taking some time before returning. From the memories, it seems like there's a clearing over yonder. Though, the serpent didn't exactly want to get closer and find out.

"Completely fair... Here.". Parish turns down his collar and lets Colors nestle in. "I wouldn't want to go too far by myself here either. Not even like, living Flora, Rebecca? Like Oddish or something? Don't know how I would feel about that."
Getting his bearings, he makes a rough heading towards where the trees seemed to thin. Unique landmarks on an otherwise barren landscape weren't super common, so this worked fine.

"Yeah, nothing," she confirms. "It... was definitely really, really unsettling. Even moreso than the worlds where there was no life period."
Well there's certainly a landmark in the clearing. A large, earthen mound seems to be sitting at the center. And it seems to have been shaped into that of a face of some sort. Not human, but recognizably humanoid.

"It does make sense that plants might... Oh. Well this is certainly something.". Circling the mound, he considers how it interacts with the snow, and takes in the details of the face. "Could be a Pokemon of some kind maybe. I don't see any tool marks or handprints that might indicate it was moulded."
He rubbed under Colors' chin with a thumb. "It's a big face, but I don't think it is going to try to eat anyone. You want to go back in your ball? I'm going to get closer to it."

"Could be a Pokémon, yeah..." Rebecca muses. "We have some shaped like heads here in Hoenn ourselves. But also, Pokémon are known to use tools that we only recognize from years of study. Like Smeargle, who use their tales as natural paintbrushes."
Colours seems more than eager to return to their ball, the serpent rather shiver-y in the cold.

"Let's see then..." The boy approaches the face from the side, looking down into what he presumes is an eye. "Hello? If you are sleeping I am really sorry.". Reaching down, he feels along the sculpts brow. "There are no trees near it, and no snow on it. No indication there were ever trees here either..."

The eyes burst open, a yellow light emanating from within. Around the forest, the entire ground seems to be rumbling, shaking, reshaping. Earthen hands emerge from the ground, and there begins to be a bit of a sloping inward, making it hard to escape. ...this may have been a mistake.

"BIG FAST THING! BIG FAST THING!". Parish hastily recalls Falling Star and finds something to cling to for dear life. A tree, a tree, a giant face. There weren't really a lot of options. Running. Running was probably good.

The earthen head shakes the snow from itself, and begins to move, stubby limbs now visible. And the incline is so steep - and trees moved to enclose - that it seems as if fighting will probably be the only answer here. The earth trembles in intimidation. Parish goes first.

"One of these days I'll learn not to touch." He laughs nervously. "Guess it's going to be a fight then..." Fallen Star and Oops! hit the field in sequence. "I didn't go looking for a fight, but I hope you two are ready for one... Oops! Hit it with Ominous Wind! Star, give it your best Snarl!" The pair move in surprising concert for never having worked together before. (Init 12 Both, 9 Vs. 2 AC Special for 31 Poison Special, and 9 Vs. 3 AC Special for 34 Dark.)
