Nine months later...
"Silas, think fast!" Lily's cry is the only warning the Technician in question gets before he's enveloped in a tight sisterly embrace. She lets him go once he starts looking uncomfortable, giggling. "You should have gotten here quicker. I want to see what they've done out there." She's developed remarkably quickly over the last several months, picking up things fairly easily, and almost being indistinguishable from any other girl her age, though with a bit more naivete and childlike wonder.
"Look, he had to gear up and get some work done." Omega says, sighing. He, too, has seemingly recovered fully from being backed up, though he hasn't given Cain a break from teasing after the senior Technician tried to convince him that nothing bad had happened, he'd just needed some maintenance. 'Timestamps are a thing, Vincent.' "The others should be along shortly. Some little scuffle with a Pokémon that managed to evade the round-up
With the stemming in new Pokémon numbers, more care has been able to be attempted on each. They're long, arduous processes, but the scientists on the project eventually found a way to stabilize Pokémon without the problematic mental adjustments needed for docility. It turns out that they're much more amicable without a constant pull.
And indeed, it's not too much longer before Thoron and Blake join the assembled people, followed by, in time, Cain, Rose, Austin, Emily, and a bit of a surprise guest. One Maria Floros.
With the pressure taken off on controlling Pokémon - and without the instigating from the cabal below - more time has been able to be taken to dissolving the various underground organizations in the cracks. "Surprise!" she says, lightly. "Mr. Cain here told me that you were heading off to the great outdoors, to check on the projects out there. I'm so excited for you, getting to see out there. I'm getting too old and tired for that, but that's what I have my children for." She gives a smile.
After the more unsavoury elements of the lower districts were dispersed, that drastically reduced her workload, letting Silas visit with her properly in... well, the first time in a long time. During that time, she'd also met Lily, and conversations eventually led to her leaving as the adoptive mother of two instead.
"It is a day to be excited for, yes," Cain agrees. "I hope that you'll be able to look out across the land, and feel proud of what you made possible. It is the beginning of a new era of humanity. One that we will hopefully proceed knowing full well all the lessons of the past."
"You really deserve the accolades more than we do," Rose says, addressing Blake, Silas, and Thoron. "We were just there. You were the ones who actually put a stop to everything back then."
"Yeah... it was a pretty fine job," Emily agrees. "Though, you should have saved some for the rest of us." She winks, giving Austin a bit of a glare when he lightly taps her side and shakes his head at her. "Fine, fine. Unconditionally... it's been a hell of a time working with you all this last year. You've managed to teach me a lot, and I wasn't expecting that. It's a lesson that everyone would be good to hold close to their heart."
