"Well, this place is pretty shelter-y, it lasted until my time, after all..." Rainbow says. The dragon-mech has some extra armour pieces fall off of it, lessening the first blow, and it seems to still be running strong... but, both it and the turtlebot miss with their attacks. Dragonite is hit by Pin Missile. It's not very effective. Dragonite is hit by Dazzling Gleam. It's super effective!
Wartortle misses with Water Pulse. Dragonite misses with Wing Attack.

"Round on the dragon and take it apart girls." Beatrice cast a sideways glance to rainbow. "I don't like to look at myself as the pragmatic, but this -will- make twice now my life has been threatened for trespassing in places I needed to be. I'm beginning to see a pattern there." Bylii flits closer to the Dragonite, she and Crassi lashing out at the massive machine repeatedly. (42 Poison Physical and 47 Fairy Special, Bylii heals for half, Crassi refreshes her 10 Temp Hp).

"I don't know what that word means, 'pragmatic'..." Rainbow admits, sheepishly, as the dragon gets bashed. While many parts are hit off, though, it seems in some ways to just incense the thing, and it appears to enter overdrive. While the dragon's first attack with its wings is able to be avoided, it follows it up with a backswing that connects with Bylli, soundly knocking the bug out of the air. The turtle still has fight left in it, too, as it releases another torrent over Crassi, taking the Drapion out of the fight at last. The two round on the girls. "...well, that's not good."Dragonite is hit by Poison Fang. Dragonite takes an injury and is Staggered from Draining kiss. Bylli heals for 20.
Dragonite misses with Wing Attack. Bylli takes 64 damage and 3 injuries from Wing Attack. Crassi takes 33 damage, an injury, and Faints from Muddy Water.

"Pragmatic means that the ends justify the means, it was something Maxie and Archie supported in the time leading up to them bringing their respective legends to bear. For the time being, I'm just breaking a few machines, so it is nothing so grandiose or damaging." Bee explained at length, taking her eyes away from the fight perhaps a bit too long, only to have her Pokemon crumple under the returned assault. Recalling both, she releases Dynast and Nomus. "It isn't, but we're making headway. Dynast, Chip Away into an Aerial Ace, Nomus just sit tight for now, we'll need you to run interference."
Dynast hits with Chip Away for 59 Normal Physical, ignoring DR and boosted Defense Stages, then lands Aerial Ace for an additional 56 Flying Physical, both on Dragonite.

"Ahhh, okay," Rainbow says, nodding. "I thought it might have meant, like... being repeatedly attacked or something, from the context."The dragon takes heavy damage, but is still up and ready to fight - and fight it does, slamming Dynast repeatedly with its battered wings until the bug crumples. It roars at the humans before it - though, a little patchily and sparking - while the turtlebot turns its attention to the Golisopod. It opens its mouth, unleashing a beam of energy at the bug, striking it dead-on. Dragonite is hit by Chip Away. Dragonite is hit by Aerial Ace. Heracross takes 86 damage and 2 injuries from Wing Attack. Heracross takes 90 damage, 3 injuries, and Faints from Wing Attack. Golisopod takes 38 damage from Dragon Pulse. A critical hit!

"Hnnh..." Blinking a few times in concern at how badly Dynast was roughed up, Beatrice has no choice but to send out Baied, her last. The massive robot was certainly doing a number on her friends and taking its toll, hopefully they could persevere. "Nomus you've got to stay in, I'm sorry... I know you're getting nervous, but it's going to be okay. Give it a Bug Bite." Nomus visibly sweats, before lunging and chomping down on the Dragonite (45 Bug Physical, Resisted one step less.)

The biting from Nomus finally causes the Dragonite to become nonfunctional… but the turtle is still up, and it chomps the Golisopod - hard. There's still something left to deal with... Dragonite Faints from Bug Bite.
Golisopod takes 26 damage and is Flinched from Bite. A critical hit!

"Baied give the turtle a shock." With a buzzing sound, the tube of insect bounded in against the machine and fried it handily before settling, Beatrice watching the wreckage and listening to the sound of her breathing. Nothing for a moment, her remaining Pokemon looking about.

There's silence from the bots, the PA, and the surrounding corridors. Nothing seems to be stirring.
"You okay, Bee? Want to turn back, or...?" Rainbow asks. "The way they came from, that's just a big room. The main systems thingies are all up thataway." She points. "I can lead you there, if you want to press on."

"Let's go, I'll tend their injuries myself shortly. I'm guessing the big machine was her ace in the hole. Take a rest Nomus, you did well." Calling the Golisopod back, she hefted the chubby Charjabug into her arms and followed along after Rainbow.

The trio makes their way through the maze of corridors, passing by a lot of closed doors on the way. Rainbow seems extremely confident on the way to go, though, and in a few minutes, she stops in front of a large bank of computers, spread over three walls. The hum of computer machinery fills the air.
The largest central screen blinks on, a figure visible on it. It's a tall, blonde woman, dressed in lab attire, with streaks of pink and blue in her hair. She looks over the trio with a sharp look. "This is your last chance, intruders. I have more defenses that I can unleash upon you, so turn back now if you don't want to die. I will not allow you to destroy this facility, or the information contained within."

"I'm not interested in destroying -anything-, if you'd listen." Beatrice sets Baied down. "Further, now that you've been found out, the worst thing you could do is eject us. The Pokemon Rangers and League officials would be very interested in these rooms and what they contain." Settling her hands back into her pockets, she considered the room end to end. "We are here to examine the machine that purifies the meteoric rock, called down by what became of Rayquaza."

"You're... not here to destroy things?" the woman asks, before she seems to relax, tension leaving her. "Oh, I'm glad. Because, to be honest... you did happen to destroy the last of what active mechanics I had here."
The figure on the monitor looks to sit down, back against one of the screen sides. She looks at the group. "So, what's gone on the last twenty-odd years that means that you need that stuff? Been stuck in here with no outside contact since this place first got ransacked, and operations hastily shifted to Mirage Island."

"I'm not familiar with Mirage Island." Beatrice cocked her head thoughtfully. "The Hybrid have started integrating with the populace, and we've projected that the contaminant will continue to spread, eventually necessitating hybridization to ensure the survival of human and Pokemon alike. In short, I've an item to leave tucked away here somewhere that holds the information necessary to rebuild, and I need to study the device I described. Should such a thing exist." She added after a pause.
"I've a sample of the rock from Dewford to work with."

"Oh, hmm. Interesting," the woman says, nodding. "I see that the idiots didn't have any idea about what 'controlled' meant. That stuff is potent, and I warned them that they would need to be careful if they wanted to properly harness it without killing everyone. We didn't know the exact effects of anything. So of course they just spread things willy-nilly. Glad to know that my children are spreading, though."
Her eyes light up at the mention of a sample, and she shoots up to her feet. "Oh... that would be fun to play around with. See exactly how things have changed. You said it came from a meteor? That stuff was purely hypothetical for me, as opposed to synthesized... theoretically much more potent, from a second-generation, natural source." She nods. "We have something that can align the energy in here. Causes it to be much less potent, but far, far more stable. I'd rather use the Lightstone as a generator source, for instance, than Shadowstone, even though it's less overall energy."
She considers. "However... I will need to do some tests on it, to ensure that it's stable to be worked with, and won't cause this entire facility to explode. I'd rather avoid that, I'm sure that you understand, given that I'm now confined here. So as much as you could provide would be appreciated."

"Yellow... you may wish to make yourself scarce? I should be alright for a moment or two of exposure." Beatrice fished the metal case from her things. "I'm sorry, you said your children? All I've ascertained so far is that the Shadowstone afflicts Pokemon with a madness where they go on about the end of things..."

Yellow cocks an eyebrow at the conversation, but the girl wanders off.
"Yes, even if not biologically, I was the one who birthed the fusion process. For both Pokémon and humans." She gives a bit of a bow and flourish. "I imagine that since being trapped here you really haven't heard of me, but I am Doctor Julia Walker. Chief Scientist of this operation. My goal has always been to push the boundaries of what's possible. And I succeeded. Multiple times. Fusing Pokémon, to create something more powerful. Bonding Pokémon with people, to create something never seen before. Springboarding off the works of Doctors Ein and Lovrina to boost the potential power of Pokémon further beyond what they're capable of, and to create a strong energy source. Not all of it has been... perfected, of course," she admits. "Complications did occur, and I didn't have the magnitude of data that I required. But it was such an advancement. The next step was to invoke mechanism, and be able to produce biomechanical augmentations. That... was cut short, unfortunately."
"That is curious about the madness," Julia says. "Interesting. I mostly noted a battle fervor and increased power, which wore off after a time. Would have been nice to figure out how to make that power-increase permanent, but, what can you do with limited information?" She shrugs.

"I see. Your children, your great works, are stigmatized heavily in many communities still, because of past associations, willful or otherwise. Dewford is abandoned now, home to a single Hybrid and the Pokemon she puts down as she finds them. Prolonged exposure shifts their natural tendencies towards violence and cooperative behaviors with other afflicted. Pairings that would not naturally occur in the wild. I've in my possession, a Rattata and a Sableye whom were working in tandem from my time on the island. I'd wanted to research a means to cure it." Beatrice paced slowly in front of the screen, case in hand. "Where did you want these samples?"

"There's a room if you go back, third door on your left. There's some testing equipment in there. Ideally half of your material would be usable for testing, to try and get an idea of stuff."
"I'll judge how much we can spare once we get there," Rainbow says.
"Yes, yes," she says, "It's not like I can do anything. I'm just antsy. It happens when you've had to spend decades without a body. I'm just eager to be doing things that're new again, instead of going over the same incomplete data again and again."
"It's a shame that my creations are so... unaccepted," Julia laments. "But, perhaps that will change with time. You are not one of mine, girl, correct?" she asks Rainbow.
"No."The answer is blunt.
"Interesting. So unaccepted, yet proliferating..." she muses. "Through applications of my procedures, or simple genealogy? I don't know if the latter is possible, but... perhaps."

"Likely applications of your procedures. I've been led to believe that hybrid unions produce human children without any measurable Pokemon traits. As I'll be working with the stone directly, it was my intention to undergo the procedure as well in a short span of time from now. It seems to be the only means of mitigating the negative health effects." Beatrice gives Rainbow a gentle squeeze of the shoulder, and started towards the indicated room. "Rainbow, is she still... you know?"
