"A pity those Staryu are in such bad shape; they would be ideal for exploring and illuminating this location. Does either of you have any Water-types who could be useful here?" Melissa's mechanical arm fizzes and crackles with built-up energy, offering a dim glow, but she refrains from blasting the lake. For now.

"I got two bugs and a balloon, so 'no' unfortunately."
Alexa shrugs.

"We went over this with the waterfall - Ordira doesn't light up or talk so if she goes down there she's the only one who's gonna know what's up. Unless you've got a waterproof light you don't mind having clawmarks in."
Nori calls Ordira out anyway, because if there's trouble coming from the water having somebody able to swim around is probably a good plan. Then he shines his own (sadly non-waterproof) light down into the lake from above, wondering if he'll be able to make out anything useful at all.
"Hellooo, Weezorah?" he calls. "You in there, slime beastie? We gotta have a talk about not messing with plate tectonics."

Shining the light directly down into the water reveals... nothing! The water (as far as your light reaches), doesn't seem to hold any monsters.

Nori looks rather put out, as if he was hoping for a horrible monstrosity to rise from the depths and confront them. It's very inconsiderate of the monster to ignore him. "Something's gotta be causing those tremors. You guys see another passage around here anywhere?"
He turns around, looking at the cavern... and stops pointed toward the cliff. "That's kinda weird, isn't it? Wouldn't water wear a cliff like that down? C'mon, Ordira, let's go check that out." And... he sets right off along the shore toward it. "Exploring with Ordira" is familiar territory, even if they used to do it when she only came up to his knee instead of towering over him. He's evidently taking his out-loud thought about the cliff being strange as adequate notice of where he's going.
Nori doesn't think of this as being much like when Yue rushes off places. He's not going very far, and he's got a hulking Feraligatr with him so it's not like he's helpless.

Nori heads over to the cliff, and Alexa follows him over so he's not by himself, pokemon or no. Nori points a flashlight at the cliff, and Alexa does so in tandum and both of you nearly drop them as you spy two huge things 'on' the cliff side! The first is a partially exposed skeleton.
It's of a Tyranitar, and it's FUCKING HUGE! A fully grown Tyranitar is maybe about two stories at most, maybe three. All you can see of this one is the skull, but it looks to be about a story in size ITSELF. The second, and more surprising thing, is a huge purple blob that is glommed onto the skull, seemingly sucking the marrow out of the skull. It'd be a weird sight if the purple blob wasn't also big in it's own right! About as big as a regular Tyranitar actually, how funny is thatohgoditsawthelightandnowit'sroaringatus!
It slips into the water, and bursts out in front of the party... and it's face comes into view, and it actually 'is' a Muk! But it's color matches the slime seen up top. So it's 'wrong' purple, instead of Muk's normal purple. Not really much time to think about it, as it's seemingly attacking!

It looks like Nori wasn't too far off on referencing the giant pollution monster Tyzilla fought once. Well, alright, it only looks it's about twice the height of a regular Muk, but that's still an awfully big blob of slime. "Something is definitely wrong with you, big guy. We gotta get you checked out. Ordira? Let's show him who does the earth shaking around here."
Ordira looms up beside Nori, standing easily as tall as the monstrous Muk - though it clearly still outmasses her. She challenges the huge Pokémon with a roar of her own, a booming bellow that echos through the cavern.
Nori - 11 Ordira - 10

Alexa steps forward and sends out her gift from Nori! The tiny Spinarak comes out and... seems a little regretful facing off against the big target!

The Muk gets whapped but is hardly hurt. Time to eat! It reaches over and absorbs more of the fossil!

Alexa's Spinarak lets some ghostly energy let loose! Night Shade vs Muk Ydq5RLAE1d20
The Muk roars after being hit a few times, and swipes it's arm across, firing off globs of poisonous muk at Lucario and Ordira! Sludge Bomb vs Ordira AC 2 Poison Special (Poisons on 15+) 1d20 3d10+34

Lucario just looks nonplussed as the Muk's goo splatters all over it. Is this supposed to... hurt? It's kind of gross, sure, and maybe if he got unlucky he'd slip and fall, but it's not what he'd call an attack. And now his enemy has gone back to its meal. Is it even taking this seriously? Meanwhile, Melissa looses a blast of supercharged lightning. Lucario uses Quick Attack again. qAxcKpnF1d20+1 vs AC 2 1d8+38 Physical Normal-type damage

Ordira doesn't have the benefit of steel in her bones - she hisses in pain as the Muk's attack lands, then lunges in for another bite. This time cold air hisses out between her teeth, and if she lands her hit, bits of sludge solidify and crack - much easier to spit out. "Yeah, get him! OW. Okay, now the Muk is taking this seriously. Lucario reels. "Ack! That was my best lab coat!" Melissa recalls, a little belatedly, that she has psychic powers. "Die, you mucilaginous menace!" The slime the Muk is throwing might not hurt him, but Lucario can't help but note that his fellow Pokemon has more trouble with it. He dives in front of the sludge-bomb, looking annoyed about it; being immune to it doesn't make it less gross. Melissa aims another psychic blast at it and backs up, trying to get out of easy sludge-throwing range. Lucario intercepts the attack headed for Ordira.

Ordira is shoved back as the Lucario takes the brunt of the attack aimed for her. She grumbles a little but isn't exactly in a position to be upset about it.
