Mayu is challenged about halfway through route 8 by a Machoke looking to test itself. It flexes at her, as if saying it wants to fight something "worthy of its time". Whatever that may be. Probably wants a Fighting-Type, but Mayu is under no obligation to oblige it. It will take anything she throws at it.

It wants a fellow Fighting-type, does it? Very well. Mayu will let Alpha fight this one. The Lucario, as is his custom, opens with a vicious flurry of punches and kicks.

Two can play at that game. Counter!
Alpha resists the attack one step further (to neutral, in this case); Machoke loses 50 hp.

Well, that's that then. Clearly, super-injured Alpha is too strong for most things when it uses Reversal. Granted, Ghosts don't have to worry about that, but still, the sudden clearing-out of the Route is quite telling.
Mayu earns 25 Poke XP.

Funnily enough, a Cubone is the very first thing Mayu stumbles across on Route 10. The skittish Pokemon freezes when it realizes it's spotted. Seems to be debating whether to fight or cut and run.

Mayu watches it calmly, making no move to send a Pokemon out. She doesn't want a Cubone badly enough to spook one that already looks frightened. Skittish Pokemon generally don't make great fighters anyway.

When Mayu neither leaves nor shows aggressiveness, the Cubone scuttles away.

That's fine. Onwards to Rock Tunnel proper.

Oh hey, it's one of those blue screens again. It says there is a Dungeon version of Rock Tunnel available. As usual, it does not give any further details. Only asks if you wish to enter or not.

Yes, let's attempt the dungeon version. It was fruitful the last two times she tried it, albeit difficult at times.

The button is pressed, the prompt disappears, and Mayu enters the darker and spookier than usual Rock Tunnel.

Mayu finds herself quickly surrounded by a small pack of Houndour the moment she enters the dungeon.

Houndour, is it. That might be a problem. Mayu starts off with Rho, one of her few Pokemon who isn't vulnerable to one or the other of Houndour's types.

The three Houndour quickly surround the Lickitung, staring it down as they circle it before the first lunges forward; the other two capitalizing on the slight distraction to also try to get hits in.
Each Houndours activates Intimidate, for a total of -3 ATK CS. They then all use Beat Up. Each use of Beat Up allows the other two to make Struggle Attacks vs the target. This means each one of them gets a grand total of 3 attacks. For a total of 9 Struggles.
Beat Up #1 vs AC 4 vs aLhKaJtx1d20 Fire Special Damage: 1d8+22 (Ember grants Firestarter, allowing Houndour to make Struggle be Fire-Typed and Special damage if they wish.)

Trusty Rho digs in his heels and tries to fend off the flurry of attacks as best he can. Which is pretty well, all things considered. Mayu tries to ice a pair of the dogs; she knows this probably won't do much to a Fire-type, but she doesn't have any better options - while Rho tries to kick one of them away from him.
Activating Pain Resistance against the crit, for DR 16. Lickitung takes a total of 31 damage. Powder Snow vs #1 and #2 rN_sCAow1d20 vs AC 2 2d6+26 Special Ice-type damage Freezes on 19+

Mayu's attack causes Houndour #2 to turn and snap at her just as she launches the flurry of ice and snow.

If they're not going to even try to get out of the way, Mayu will just keep blasting them with snow. Rho is startled but not too badly hurt by the bites; he retaliates by punching. Powder Snow vs #1 and 2 again CAM8ogyr1d20 vs AC 2 2d6+26 Special Ice-type damage Freezes on 19+
