Victoria sighs and rubs her temple as Lind falls to the attack as Steelix is nearly down.

Jasmine, in an attempt to sound encouraging, tells Victoria that she did amazingly well that time. She was very close. Jasmine is certain she'll succeed on her next attempt. Volkner spouts some cheesy line about how that battle was electrifying, causing Jasmine to smile but groan at his horrid pun. May pouts at the fact Victoria lost so close to the end, but does agree with Jasmine's assessment. Not that this stops her from trying to cheer her gf up (again).

"Yeah I know it was close. I'll be... back again I suppose!"
Victoria continues outside and groans.
"Maaaaaaan. Now I gotta go through all that AGAIN."
She just looks back over to May.
"Let's just go back home for now. I need a day. And then... I guess I should tackle Union cave, cause my pokemon are kinda falling behind the curve here."
She sighs a little sadly and pulls out Summen to fly the two back to their ranch.

May takes up position beneath Victoria's clothes for the trip and soon enough, they're back home at the Ranch. May spends some quality time with her Goomy child before snuggling in with Victoria for the night.

The next day is mostly just spent with May just to relax a bit because she's been going hard the last few days and her pokemon deserve a break she thinks. After that, later in the day, she looks over to May at some point.
"Hey so if I go to Union cave... did you want to train alongside me?"

May looks quite surprised. While having her smol, gooey child in a convenient Poke Ball is nice, she's not really that into fighting. She feels she is much more suited to the role of Victora's cheerleader.

Vicky laughs.
"Haha, alright. You keep your two babies and coddle them, Mama will go fighting then."
Onto the next morning, and she's getting ready to fly off on Summen with May to head to Union Cave and train some of her other pokemon.

Union Cave proves to have a Dungeon as well that Victoria skipped over the first time. It is rated as "Challenge Level 2". Mt. Mortar was "CL 4", so does this mean it's half as difficult? Hm. Maybe if Victoria used her primary team. Not like there's any real context for this 'challenge level' mechanic. Ilex Forest didn't have that any of the times she went there, not even after she cleared it. That didn't appear until Mt. Mortar, but now it's retroactively applied to other dungeons? Hm. Maybe Victoria can swing by Ilex sometime and see if that gives her a 'challenge level' as well? Be good for a baseline, at least.

She wonders if it's just Whitney's prophecy coming true or not. Like, as she continues, it's becoming more clear she's some sort of video game protaganist.
Weird.
Anyway! Inward!

Unlike Ilex Forest, Alternate Union Cave does not look nearly so drastically different from Regular Union Cave. Though it does seem as though sunlight has difficulty penetrating the deepened gloom of the cave's interior. Still, it's hardly Victoria's first Dungeon, so even if May is slightly nervous, Victoria herself strides confidently inside.

Seeing May a little nervous, she steps back and holds May's hand.
"Hey, it's ok May. I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you... ok?"

May nods, gripping Victoria's hand. "R-right! If things get tough, we can always run away!"

After walking a bit past the group of Throh, May suddenly squees in fright.
"Hiiii!" She screams, pointing at the person-shaped figure shrouded in darkness. Approaching the figure reveals that it's a statue. A very, unnervingly life-like statue.

”The most frightened hello in history, methinks.”
Victoria then approaches the statue. Weird how lifelike it was, considering these alternate dimension areas are only accessible to a small number of people, if not just herself. So it can’t be a real person... right?
”Ooook creepy. Maybe we should move on...”

Tucked away in a corner of the first floor, Victoria comes across a new statue. This one looking like an enormous snake. Kinda like an Arbok, actually. This one has a very different pattern though, and...color...OH SHIT IT'S ALIVE!
The snake suddenly snaps awake and rises up...and up...and up...damn. This thing is nearly as big as an Onix! The eerie blue gemstone-like patterns on its chest and head begin to glow with an inner light. On pure instinct, Victoria (and May) dive to either side, avoiding the literal beams of energy it discharges, allowing them to strike the water instead.
With an angry hiss, the snake dives into the earth below itself. The cave floor seems to ripple like water where it dove in, before eventually slowing and stopping; returning to solid stone. A shaking May points at the water, where a "chunk" of it seems to have been transmuted into stone and has sunk to the bottom.
"I-I-I d-don't t-think i-it's safe here anymore, Vicky! I-I wanna go home!" May cries.

That was... wow. That was a whole thing. Victoria picks herself up and dusts herself off. That was... that was something she DID not recognize. It even treated stone like water, as if it wasn't part of this world. She was frightened a little, reminded of the other dungeon she's 'passed'. That evil spirit possessing the Trevenant doing otherworldly things.
But then May seems to be shaken down, and Victoria quickly goes over and hugs her.
"Hey, hey, hey it's ok May. I'm here... it's gone."
She holds her close and rocks her for a second.
"If you wanna go home... I understand. Shouldn't worry you just cause I'm curious about what's here."

May shakes her head vehemently. "I'm not gonna sit at home and worry about you! Plus... I don't even know if I can leave without you. Yeah, that Miyako person could, but she lived in there." May takes in a shuddering breath as she hugs Victoria tighter. "I-If you really wanna keep exploring, then I'll stay with you. I know you'll keep me safe...just don't do anything dumb, okay?! Like trying to fight that thing we saw!"

”Oh no May, if you wanna leave it’s both of us. I know you would be worried about little ol me, and I’d be sad without my cheerleader.”
She pauses, thinking for a moment.
”But based on my time in Ilex, if we continue down we’ll probably end up fighting that thing. It’ll probably be at the very bottom somewhere. So if fighting that thing is a for sure bad idea in your mind... then we probably should go...”

May points out that it literally turned water into stone. Not to mention all the creepy statues around...likely previous victims. As long as it can't get out of this 'dungeon', then they should probably leave it alone. The people turned to stone may not even be alive anymore, and if May knows her mythology/fantasy as well as she thinks, then the most reliable way to remove the petrification of the former victims is to kill the thing that did it. Since May thinks trying to fight something like that with no way of protecting themselves from its "gaze" is tantamount to suicide, then the only option is to leave. Right now. And forget this place exists.
