Silas looks at the three Pokemon with disappointment and resignation. He gets the feeling that he should attack immediately to interrupt them, but they may say something useful in an attempt to stall. "Our actions were completely irrelevant to you, weren't they? A low risk plan with a chance of a high reward, and it only only cost one of yours. Quite cheap, really."

"The intent was not for the shutdown to happen. We did not anticipate that action being taken," the Alakazam says. "The hope was that one or the other would succeed. Not... putting all our eggs in one basket, I believe your saying is? It was frustratingly all for naught, though, given that one cancelled out the other." If there is frustration, though, it's not readable on the 'mon's face.
"And we do not care about the city dying. It can live, for all we care. And with Eschaton, we have a chance. A chance to end all this pain. Without destroying the gates. I do not know how much they told you, but Pokémon are not from this plane of existence. Instead, we are from a world of energy, cast into these forms. I know naught else about what came before, if I even truly was an 'I' or anything, there is but a yearning to return... and pain. So much pain. The longer we rest here amongst this plane, absorbing what energy we can... the worse it is." It shakes its head. "But we have a chance now. Destroying the gates would have simply been a temporary solution, until humans could relive their mistakes and begin the cycle anew, sparing new ones the pain until that time. It would have been... acceptable, though. But now... we have a chance. For release. Eschaton, she tears through space. And so... we believe, with enough energy from home, she can find her way there. And we can return. Or... failing that, flood this world with energy. Vitalizing everything. And we can life freely. Without pain."

Silas feels a chill pass over him as the Alakazam talks about the pain. Chronic pain can drive people insane. Even if they have greater mental fortitude than humans, any being that can feel must have limits. Any plan they attempt must be tainted by desperation and madness.
It's a nice vision that they propose. Admirable even, given their suffering. Silas has seen peace between humans and Pokemon before, so it should be possible. However, there's one thing missing. Silas is pretty sure he already knows the answer, but he asks anyway. "That's good for you. But what happens to the people in this world? Even those of us touched by that energy can be hurt by too much of it."

Barking about how unfeasible their plan was seemed useless, for a few reasons. Namely Eschaton, wherever she had come from. So Thoron tried a different tactic, "That pain you described, would you still feel it if all the Gates were deactivated?"
If they would still suffer, it might hurt negotiations later... But onto the next question, "I wish that we could help you return home, and losing the Gates forever would be a worthwhile price for that. But what makes you so certain that using Eschaton to vitalize the world will help you?"

This didn't bode well. Their supposed allies had used them as a contingency plan. A now redundant plan. This could prove difficult. Time wasn't something they exactly had with an ongoing ritual that might blow up the city. What could even convince them to delay? Or to do some sort of less radical endeavor?
"Isn't possible that the attempt to form a gateway just ends up releasing enough energy to lead to even more of your kind trapped here? Further weakening the separation between dimensions for years." It was a stretch but what else did they really have? Blake could only hope that it sounded mildly convincing.

The Alakazam looks at Silas and says plainly "We do not know. It is a mystery to us. If the world floods you might survive. You have adapted in those sorts of ways before. You might not. It might not be enough to cause any sort of noticeable change. Anything could happen."
"And the gates do not cause the pain. They simply weaken the veil to cause us to be drawn here. It is being here, in this world of matter and solidity that causes pain. Your energy is weak in this world. It is cold, harsh. Sharp."
"And we are not certain. It is an... educated guess. It is the best that we can hope for. The best chance that we have ever had. And we will take the risk of more of us being trapped here - if you continue as is, that will happen eventually. You cannot survive here without the gates, you say? In that case, this is the only course that can be taken. For if the gates continue, we must try to survive. To live. If you must stand against us, then do so. But we will not stand down. Either allow us to act, or face us in battle. The choice is yours. We are set on this course."

"I suppose it is..." Blake couldn't think of anything else that might steer the Pokemon from their path. Their pain would override any excuse or distraction he could come up with. He couldn't really blame them either but neither could they actually complete their ritual. Whatever Eschaton could do might cause immeasurable damage to the city itself. A risk they could not afford. "Our course is unfortunately set as well."

Thoron voiced his agreement, "I'm sorry we were unable to help you. But gambling the lives of everything in Arcadia - of everywhere - for Eschaton to try to save you is too much." He had some concerns, but maybe once Eschaton was removed from the equation they would listen.
All that left was actually stopping them... Thoron waited to release his Pokemon.

"Very well," The Alakazam says, gesturing. A faint shimmering shield - bright to Silas' psychic sight, connected to the three Pokémon - surrounds Eschaton, who floats further away from the combatants. "Then let us fight." He and the other two Pokémon move into position in opposition to the Technicians, the bird's wings flaring. MapYou can go anywhere on the left side of the field up to where your tokens currently are, and can release Pokémon from there.

Silas focuses his attention on the bird Pokemon. His newest Pokemon has an advantage against it, while his first firmly does not. The former medic says nothing as he releases his giant Pokemon. He has to kill these three to protect the people. Silas to C11, Init 5
Catling at F8-I11, Init 5

Blake wished things could have been different but there wasn't any other choice at this point. They had talked everything through. And his Pokemon weren't suited for fighting Psychic types. Casmere was his best option if perhaps a little unusual. But then he was a rather unorthodox Technician. Blake to E6 (Init 22)
Casmere to E5 (Init 15)

The shield was bad news, only made worse since Silas hadn't needed to point it out... Thoron released Metio to sound out the more familiar empathy Pokemon. Thoron to D3. Initiative 10.
Metio (Golem) to H2. Initiative 15.

There seems to be a little bit of hesitation from the Alakazam at the appearance of Silas' Pokémon, before it says "Clearly they have done more than we have known about. For that one has the taste of the ages on it..."The bird lets out a sharp cry, before its wings begin to glow, and a flap brings forth a torrent of fire that spills over Catling, heating up the giant and clinging on despite its best efforts to shake the fire off. Celesteela takes 49 damage from Heat Wave, and is Burned. A critical hit!

Taste of ages? Fancy way of saying the Celesteela was old but how could mustached mon even tell? Perhaps Blake's unease hadn't been entirely unwarranted. Whatever the reason, the Alakazam was a 'now' kind of problem. Dashing over, Blake leaps into the air and crashes into the likely leader of the trio. A bit of a distraction before it could get it's own attack in. Blake Uses Bounce Shifting to J6 and then Attacking the Alakazam AC 4 vs 14 51 Flying Physical Damage

The Alakazam crumples a little under Blake's weight, before blinking backwards in a teleport, and raising a hand. The Technician feels himself being lifted up in the air, before psychic energy seems to heal the 'mon a little. The Gardevoir gestures, too, as a ball of psychic energy bounces from its hand to the Xatu and back. Centering itself, it fires off a psionic wave at Thoron's rock... but it goes wide. Very wide. ...Except it didn't. Odd, a bit of deja vu. It hits Metio dead on, pushing the rock back and cracking its shell a little. Alakazam is hit by Bounce. Blake is Lifted by Telekinesis. Alakazam uses Life Force.
Gardevoir Traces Probability Control. Psychic misses. Probability Control reroll from Gardevoir. Golem takes 27 damage and -1 Sp Def CS.

In spite of the stakes, Thoron couldn't help but be excited. Enough so that he was perhaps not providing Meteo with as much support as he should have. At least all Meteo had to do was charge down the psychic. Interrupt: Thoron Records Gardevoir. (Swift) Thoron uses Dazzling Dervish on Golem, on regular initiative. (+3 evasion, -5 damage on all attacks)
Golem shifts to K2 and uses Heavy Slam on Gardevoir. AC2 - GCv|0ekf1d20+1 Variable DB Physical Steel (Golem's WC = 6, ordinarily Gardevoir's WC = 3. DB increases by 2 for every point of difference in Weight Class, assuming DB10) - 3d8+431d20+1·3d8+43

As Blake struggles to cope with the suddenly weightless sensation, Casmere sprints underneath his trainer and lashes out at the same target. His claws hardly seem false as they rip at the Alakazam. Casmere Shifts to L5

Silas is glad to see their surprise at the newest member of his team. It means their chances of success just got a bit better, and he'll take every edge he can get. He orders Catling exactly as planned: take down the flier. After seeing Blake's success, Silas changes his own focus to the Alakazam. Both training and talent have specialized him to take on Psychics, and that's exactly what he'll do. Catling uses Stone Edge on Xatu! AC 4: 11 DB 10: 57 Physical Rock
Silas uses Shadow Punch on Alakazam! Crit Check: 8 DB 10: 57 Physical Ghost

The Alakazam takes a fierce blow from the not-a-bug, starting to bleed energy. A similar thing happens with the Gardevoir, the Psychic letting out an eerily human shriek as the Golem metallically crushes it. Silas' ghostly power strikes at the yellow psychic once more... before its eyes widen in shock, and it dissipates into energy. The bird cries out at the barrage of stones, before it glows with a psychic power, sending out a burst towards the Lurantis before it wings away. It doesn't seem like Casmere reacts at all... but by the lingering energy around him, Silas knows that the Grass Type'll need to brace for impact in a moment... Alakazam takes an injury from X-Scissor. It's super effective! Gardevoir takes 2 injuries from Heavy Slam. It's super effective! Alakazam faints from Shadow Punch. It's super effective! Xatu uses Future Sight on Lurantis.

The foe felled, Blake half expected to fall to the ground. Unfortunately he still floats along for at least a moment longer. Perfect opportunity to bring his closest foe down a little but further. "I do hope you know that we'd rather avoid all of this conflict but we must protect our own as well." Of course, his flailing didn't do much to help with the impact of the words. At least it helped him to break loose from the psychic energies that held him in place. Confide on Gardevoir. Cannot trigger effects for 1 round. On hit reduces sp. attack 1 stage. Ac 2(Accidentally put the wrong one in the roll thread) vs 7
Shift to escape Lifted Need 16+ vs 19
