You stepped off the ship and onto the docks, a spring in your step. You were finally here! Not that sailing had ever particularly bored you, and they had made sure to work you on your entire trip here... being in the sky felt right, but right now being on land excited you more than ever, although perhaps it was mixed with an element of unease. This was it, the place where an Oracle could tell you anything, the place where you could find your first clue towards where Wilhelmina was and hunt her down. That was what you had set out to do, so despite enjoying your travels, you should at least start in that direction, right?
If there were any doubts in your mind, they were distracted from by a small creature suddenly stepping out from a pile of crates into your path. As you came to a sudden halt, it meowed up at you in complaint, sleek, blue fur covering its entire body, tail curled up almost like a spring. For a moment, you were considering just stepping over it and being on your way, but then it meowed again, and there was a distinct sound of pain in its voice that gave you pause. Giving it a closer look, it seemed to be covered in a multitude of burns. It meowed again, and tried to rub its head against your leg, looking up at you both pleadingly and expectantly.

Kaja still didn't really know what she was going to do when she found Wilhelmina, but she could put that decision off a little longer. Finding one woman, even an Aggrian officer, in the whole sky was a daunting enough task. But that was what she'd come here for - the Oracle. Of course, now she had to find the Oracle, but one island was much less of a hassle to search. Besides, surely she wasn't the first person to come here seeking the Oracle's guidance - maybe someone could point the way.
At least, once she got past an unexpected feline roadblock. Normally she'd have pet it for a moment and been on her way, but now that she looked... "Oh, no, you're hurt!" Kaja frowned and crouched down to get a better look at the poor thing. "Who did this to you, little one?"
Though teaching whoever hurt it a lesson was probably less important than getting it some proper medical attention. Kaja had some water and bandages, but her knowledge of first aid was pretty minimal, truth be told. Hopefully she could find someone who knew where a doctor or some other sort of healer was nearby. "I'm going to pick you up now, all right?" She started to gather it up in her arms cautiously, trying not to get herself scratched or make its injuries worse.

As Kaja kneels down to pick up the cat, it jumps back away from her, nervous as her hands hover somewhat close to its wounds. Still, it doesn't run away, nervously looking like it's going to step back towards her before suddenly spooking, slipping through a jagged hole into a dilapidated crate sitting on the docks, disappearing into the dark safety. "Excuse me? You haven't happened to see a hurt pokemon run through here, have you? I didn't get a good look at it, but it was something feline, purrloin, glameow, maybe a skitty?" An orange haired woman calls out to Kaja from the end of the docks, her eyes scanning the surroundings as she searches.

Kaja looks a little disappointed when the cat skitters away from her into the crate. So much for getting it to a healer the easy way. She bends down to peer into the crate, trying to make it out in the darkness. She's not sure the crate is sturdy enough to carry away in itself, and if she did the cat would probably just jump out again... Maybe she'd better find a healer and lead them back here.
She straightens up when someone else approaches, and her face brightens when the other woman asks about the cat. "Yeah, I saw it. I was going to try to get it to a doctor, but it doesn't want to be picked up. It ran in here." She dusts off her hands. "It looked burned... must've had a fight with a Growlithe or something. Poor little one. Do you know where we can find a healer or something around here? I only just got here."

The woman blinks a few times, then looks down and at the crate. She kneels down, then stares inside. A few moments later, there's some scrabbling noises, and a hissing, the cat seemingly trying to back up and finding it had no where else to run. The woman frowns a little, then straightens herself back up. "I have a few bandages and some healing salve in my pouch, actually, although I'm a little afraid to get scratched up..." She sighs a little, looking around, then begins to rummage about in her bag. Give me an insight check and a perception check please.

"Oh, I can reach in and get it, if you want. I just don't wanna get too rough with the poor thing in case I make it worse." Kaja can't quite help thinking that the woman looks kind of severe. Still, if she's worried about the cat too, she can't be all bad, can she? On the other hand, something about this whole situation bothers her. She's not sure whether to take the cat's apparent fear of the woman as just a Pokémon's natural reaction to having been attacked by something and being scared and in pain, or if it recognizes the woman and is scared of her specifically. It didn't make a dash for the crate until the woman came by... Kaja's Intuition: GlGS8Xbq2d6 Kaja's Perception: 3d6 2d6·3d6

"If you wouldn't mind." The woman nods curtly, digging around in her pouch and beginning to pull out a few medical supplies. As she does so, a few tufts of fur float through the air, and a few strands land on Kaja's hand, orange striped with black, almost like... a Growlithe, actually. The nagging feeling grows far stronger in the pit of her stomach; something about this woman was definitely off. The cat had been seeking out attention before she arrived, it didn't make sense for it to be scared of another person walking by, unless it had reason to be scared of them.

Some people would accuse Kaja of being slow, and they wouldn't be totally wrong, but she's better with people and Pokémon than with abstract knowledge, and the pieces are clicking together in her head as she catches the striped fur between her fingertips. A burned cat, its fear of a woman with Growlithe fur in her purse...
Kaja's kneeling down in front of the crate when she speaks up. "'Scuse me, miss, but do you have a Growlithe? I think our friend might be smelling it on you. Might be why the poor thing's so scared - once burned, twice shy, you know?"
Honestly, Kaja doesn't really think the explanation is that innocent - there really is something off about the woman, and part of Kaja thinks she doesn't look like the type to run a long way after a hurt Pokémon she doesn't know just out of concern. But maybe she'll be lucky, and sounding like she's on to the woman without outright accusing her will be enough to warn her off? Kaja's not usually incredibly conflict-averse, but having finally made it to Essica, Wilhelmina's back on her mind again... and so are the circumstances of her leaving her tribe. She doesn't really feel like starting a fight today unless it's necessary.
Then again, protecting somebody who's hurt seems pretty necessary to her.

The woman looks up at Kaja, a bandage in hand. She speaks as curtly as before. "Yes, I do own a Growlithe. I also own the Purrloin hiding in that crate there. Now are you going to help, or do I have to pull her out myself?"
The woman adjusts her glasses and gives a small huff before pulling out supplies, sorting through various bottles, glancing at labels as she tries to find the right one.

"See, that sounds kind of weird. If it's yours, shouldn't it be used to your Growlithe's smell? And yours, for that matter." Kaja shifts position - rather than kneeling to reach into the crate, she turns around and sits down with her back to it, between the crate and the woman. Kaja is big enough to make a pretty effective roadblock. "I didn't get that good a look, but those looked like some pretty nasty burns for play-fighting between family members, or even training. So do you want to change your story, or are you sticking with one of your Pokémon hurting another badly enough to chase it off?"

The woman doesn't flinch at Kaja's accusations, appraising her with a sharp eye. "There is no story, there is only the truth: The pokemon in the crate is mine. If you didn't wish to help me, you should have said so from the start."
The woman then kneels down, setting the bandages on the ground beside her, and rummaging about until she pulls out a pokeball. She then looks to Kaja expectantly. "Obviously you don't like me, for whatever reason, but quite frankly, I don't care. Now may I have access to my pokemon, please?"

"Well, it came right up to me, and ran away from you. And y'know, some Pokémon are just skittish in general, but I've always kinda found that the ones that aren't are pretty good judges of people."Kaja gets to her feet, but doesn't move away from the crate. Her hand drifts down to rest on Pingo's Pokéball. "So I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's got a good reason to be scared of you. And I don't really like people who torture Pokémon, whether they own them or not. So what we're gonna do, is I'm gonna get the kitty to a healer, and you're gonna back off. Or we're going to have a problem. And since my Pokémon and I have lived our whole lives in Iaventa's winds and Regice's glaciers, I don't think you and your lapdog want to have a problem with us."Intimidate check: DJBt42QB2d6 2d6
