The desperate want desperately to not 'need' anymore. The rich and wealthy are looking to obtain a 'need' to validate themselves. The weak yearn to be strong. The strong yearn for the days they were weak with no responsibilities.
What we are is always changing, never satisfied. The finish line is always extending. There's always a reason to keep going.
You are about to see the results of a selection of sorts. Six individuals from all walks of life enter a bar to begin an adventure they never could have understood fully. What happens to these six? Find out, on this episode of: 'The Glitch Zone' A white-haired young girl pops into view on the television screen, proclaiming to be the host of the classic television show. She introduces this weeks episode 'Six in paradise', and the beginning credits begin to play as it zooms in on a bar, at which point other things on your mind distract you from classic television. This is the cafeteria of the Oak Memorial Research Center. What was once Professor Oak's lab grew to be a huge facility run by the previous aide to Oak, Professor Larch. He and his aides now work with the League to train trainers that need it or at least equip trainers for their first steps into the league. Considering the economy around the league, direct support became needed for a bit of guidance. What with Blue and Red's dual championships back to back sparking a 'anybody can do it' mentality about doing the challenge and all. Hell, they even support trainers every day with basic supplies! Those who needed it have been here for a week or so getting basic pokemon care training, basic info about battling and tactics, and general information. Anyone who didn't need that have arrived the day before or this morning to join the others to register for the league, catch their first non-starter pokemon from the preserve, and participate in the camp tournament to claim a rare prize that could easily help anyone on their journey. Registration was just moments ago, and everyone else is getting added in, leaving everyone with a bit of free time for a meal and some relaxing. The tv's around are set to a bunch of different channels, which some trainers are zoned out watching, like our 'Glitch Zone', which seems to be reaching some sort of climax at this point, with the six people facing off enemies of great power that were created by the six just existing. But eyes are drawn away toward a fresh few plates of food being set out for the 'campers'. For now milling around seems to be on the agenda... (Feel free to introduce your character to the world, either from arriving just now, or being here for the first training!)

A brown haired girl shooed people away from herself, and the door she was reaching for. She wasn't about to let people open doors for her. "Get lost, will ya!? I got it. I got it! Geez..."
She threw open the door to building, grab the wheels of her chair, and ushered herself in. She looked about with a grouchy face to deter any stares at her. She didn't come to mingle, and chit chat. She rolls up to the front desk, to check that she was registered.
"Hey there. Name's Gwen. I'm good to go, right?"
When that is all worked out, Gwen grabs herself a plate of food, and grabs a spot at the end of a table to eat. She puts on her headphones to drown out everything else as she kept to herself. She thought about what this tiny competition could be, and how to prepare for it. Gwen was always looking for competition. She was always hungry for it. Her illness at an early age robbed her of her legs, but she wasn't having any of that noise. She did everything she could despite her situation. Gwen was always looking to prove herself at anything to avoid any sympathy. Her aggressiveness turned most people away, but she needed to look out for herself. Help from others reminded her of her weakness that was her legs. She needed to assert herself as fully independent, and what better way than be the best trainer out there?

The next person through the cafeteria door is a slim, pale, dark-haired young man, a little younger than the rambunctious girl in the wheelchair. He saunters past the desk confidently, knowing he's already registered.
He heads right for the food. "Finally. I'm starving." He was so seasick from the boat he arrived on that once he was registered he'd spent the night in his room and missed dinner. Now, of course, his stomach is complaining about how empty it was. He grabs his own plate of food and, after a moment, spots an empty seat near the girl in the wheelchair who was causing such a commotion earlier.
Nori slides into the empty spot and thumps down a heavy bag - one with patches ironed on showing cartoon versions of monstrous Pokémon. Pride of place, of course, belongs to the king of monsters, Tyzilla - a Tyranitar spewing radioactive fire from its mouth, surrounded by miniature buildings. It's right on the flap of the bag. But Nori's attention isn't on the bag, it's on his plate.
Well, to start with anyway. He glances up at the TV after a moment, frowning as he tries to hear the show over the noise in the cafeteria.
"Hmm... haven't seen this one."

Oooooh! The small girl that was Stella-Ares thought to herself as she spun around in her chair. It made her very dizzy, but there were no other reasonable way to watch all the screens at the same time. The Glitch Zone was intriguing but she simply couldn't miss the Polkamon musical! Plus she really liked the illusion that everything circled around her. It was neat. Made her feel important.
Oooooh! Food! Her immediate goals evolve as the tasty plates arrived. She did her best to halt her orbit and carefully stood up, wobbling in the general direction of the sustenance. Hopefully she'd get there without stepping on any toes! ... Though you can't always get what you want. Moving on!
Hmm. Stella-A. wondered where to sit down with her food. First she looked back at the spiny-chair. But she feared that the escape velocity of her meal was far too low for her comfort. No that wouldn't do. Hmmm... She tried again and looked around, her brow furrowed in concentration. Oh! There were someone that seemed to have a more sturdy version of the spiny-chair over there. Interesting. But also intimidating; this was the beginner's course right? That thing looked *advanced*. But she was here to learn right?
Stella-Ares makes her way towards the end of the table, much more careful this time. She didn't want to damage the precious food. That would be a tragedy. Mhm! But another setback appeared instead! And it sat down on the empty seat she had scouted and placed his (admittedly very cool) bag beside it! !!! She halted and looked a bit lost before deciding that the chair just next to him was probably just as good. Probably. But she'd never know ...
The small tan-and-orange girl in a black hoodie carefully placed her food by the empty seat next to Fancy Chair and Mr Bags. One the side where she could see the patches on the bag of course. Then she climbed up on the chair and pulled up her legs, holding them close to her chest. Oooooh! The patch-bag was even cooler from above. She made sure to take a long look at it - "*Very* cool!" - before starting to sample the squishy but tasty toppings on her plate.

Outside the cafeteria, beneath the quiet shade of a tree is a girl and her fennekin. They are terribly anti-social and completely unimportant. Which is why they get their own scene, naturally. The pale, dark-haired sinnoh native busies herself with a book on the occult. Specifically, things revolving around Ghost-Type or otherwise "magical" Pokemon. Like Fennekin!

A few scant seconds after the boy's entrance, the door flies open with a loud (and completely unnecessary) BANG and a cry of "Greetings, insects!"
The girl accompanying this proclamation is short, bespectacled and blonde, with a long flaring lab coat billowing behind her. She strides towards the desk with the kind of absolute egocentricity normally reserved for rock stars, kings, and large celestial bodies, slapping something (an ID card of some kind?) down on the desk. "Good morning. Dr. Melissa Macavity, your future Champion and overlord, here to register for the League. And the camp tournament. And any other programs your tiny institution offers that might provide a stepping stone, however meager, on my road to greatness." Her credentials established, she turns to survey the others in the room - her so-called competitors - with a critical eye. The girl in the wheelchair, in particular, earns a raised eyebrow.

? Stella briefly looked up at the new arrival and frowned. She didn't think she actually was an insect, they had more legs, but maybe that woman didn't know that. On the other hand; Stella knew that she was adopted so how could she really be sure? Oh well. Those patches were more fun anyhow!

"Thanks!" Nori grins, appreciating the compliment to his bag. This girl certainly seemed... energetic, but he liked that she wasn't afraid to approach somebody older. He'd halfway been hoping to strike up a conversation with the girl in the wheelchair but she's making it pretty obvious she isn't looking for one. "I love kaiju movies, but it's not like I could swipe my mom's collection to bring with me, you know?"
If he was going to say more, he gets interrupted by the sudden and very loud entrance of... "Wow, did somebody order a supervillain?"

As Svetlana studies, she looks up and 'just' manages to notice so so something rush inside the building! Something slightly purple and wispy! Could it be a ghost around here? How rare would that be?

Svetlana hmms and shuts her book, Fennekin hopping off her lap to pad beside her. She picks up her bag and follows the purple wisps into the noisy building. Strange to see a ghost during the day, whether or not it is Wild. Just before stepping inside, she is hit by a wall of sound coming from within as dozens of people chatter away over top of the numerous TVs playing varied shows. Wincing slightly at the sound, she recalls her little Fennekin so it doesn't get stepped on by mistake and tries to determine which way the ghost might have gone. If it allowed itself to be seen, even if briefly, it must want someone to follow it. Though whether this is good or bad depends on the personality of the individual ghost.

The 'wisp' rounds the corner into the cafeteria as she follows it. The rest of the room experiences loud interference from the TV's for a moment as the girl enters.
Svetlana looks and sees a backpack on a table shake oddly while everyone was distracted. Maybe there?

Gwen looks up from her food, and phone, to see people near her. When in the heck did this happen? They were a..."colorful" pair for sure. She did return her own raised eyebrow, plus a glare, at the raving scientist woman for staring.

Spotting the shaking bag, Svetlana makes her way towards it. She also looks to see if there is anyone near it that may be the owner of the bag itself. Anti-social she may be at times, but she would never go through someone's things without permission. If someone is nearby and happens to speak up, she will inform them of the possible situation. Otherwise, if nobody is near the bag, or nobody knows who it belongs to, she'll simply check it briefly for the ghost.

All of a sudden, a large CRASH is heard from outside the building.

The bag has acquired a couple of people around it, but the hand on the table next to it belongs to the skinny guy in the jacket.
Who has just been distracted by that crash. Nori looks around in confusion. "What was that? Did Dr. Supervillain over there leave an experiment running outside?" Man, everybody who showed up late just has to make a big entrance when he's trying to eat lunch...

"Pardon me." A soft, feminine voice cuts through the ambient noise near 'skinny guy in the jacket'. "I believe there is a ghost in your bag. Probably a Gastly, if I saw what I think I did."

"Not one of mine!" Melissa says indignantly. "I wouldn't leave something that important run unsupervised, what's even the point of an experiment if you don't watch the explosion - um, I mean results. Now excuse me a moment." She hurries outside to check out the noise.

Mm! Stella returns the bag-owners grin with a quick smile of her own. Then a whole lot of things seems to be happening. First a loud noise that seemed oddly familiar - as if someone just face-planted a whole lot of dirt. Why would that be familiar? Hmm.
Then someone claiming that the majestic bag was indeed possessed. !! Thought that might explain the crash. She fixed her eyes on the large tyranitar patch to make sure it was still safely there and not outside of the building rampaging. One could never be to sure! But it was still there. For now. But better safe then sorry!
"A ghost?" she pointed at the bag for confirmation while starting to scribble on her napkin. Then she decisively (tried her best to) slap the tagged napkin to the bag. Now they'll be safe! Yeah..!

Once outside, Melissa is greeted with a large cloud of dust. For a split sec, a shadow appears within the dust that looks a lot like a Lugia, but when the dust clears the next moment all that's there is a rather voluptuous young woman with white hair, with a scarf around her neck with ends that look like the ends of a Lugia's wings. "Owowowowow...That really hurts..." She says to herself, before noticing Melissa's presence. "Oh! Why hello there! Would you happen to know where I am? I'm a bit lost you see."

"You are at the Oak Memorial Research Center, in Kanto. Well, they say research, I think it's mostly tourism and League-funded training these days." Melissa gives a dismissive-sounding sniff at that. "And who might you be? Did you crash-land just now?"
