Chase hurries up to the foot of the cliff the higher Mudbray is atop, letting loose another howl and scraping his paw against the ground, readying himself to leap. Meanwhile, Ira growls to himself and mutters. "This is a bad idea." Before rushing up to Onix and smacking it in the joints between its rocky sections - not hoping to damage it much, but rather keep it busy until the others can take it. Chase: Shift: Move Standard: Howl
Ira: Shift: Move Standard: Chip Away on Onix Swift: Spend 1 AP to activate Roughneck, lowering Onix SpDef by another stage

Punching an Onix anywhere- even between the joints- is exactly like punching a rock wall: painful, and more likely to hurt you than the wall. Yet Ira does so, somehow not only not breaking his hand, but also actually hurting the rocky monster, causing it to writhe angrily. However, Ira's blow is far from telling, and the monster will need several more good punches like that to bring it down. It is now Kane's turn.

Takumi blows an enormous bubble and wafts it towards the Onix. Onix turns towards the bubble, inadvertently sealing its doom as its horn pops the bubble. Ira is drenched in a spray of pure water, but Onix is blasted backwards, the weakening of its defenses by Ira enough to allow Bubble to bring the behemoth down with a crash. Pawniard nods, impressed, and then does a super sweet ninjitsu move, causing the rocks around you to ripple, and then rise, surrounded by dark energy. Onix is defeated. Pawniard uses Stealth Rock. It is now Elise's turn.

Elise plays the most horrible, disturbing tune she can immediately think of with her guitar to confuse the Mudbray.

The Mudbray come bounding in, and with a flick of their hind legs, send gunky mud spraying all over Ira and Chase! The Mudbray Elise confused stumbles over its own feet, clocking its head against the rocky wall. Mudbray is Confused! It hurt itself in its Confusion! The other two Mudbray used Mud-Slap! Ira and Chase take 20 damage (before resistance) and their accuracy is lowered by 1! It is now Daisy's turn! Then it's Takumi's!

Chase stops scuffing a paw on the ground - he had been ready to leap up to the Mudbray, but it coming down just makes things easier. He growls for a moment before ramming himself into his opponent, knocking it back. Ira, meanwhile, is a little surprised - he's still tensed for a long fight with the Onix, not expecting it to go down like that. After a moment, though, he shrugs and turns to the Mudbray, giving it a sidelong glare, as if to say You're next.Chase: Tackle on Mudbray
Ira: Leer and Roughneck on Mudbray, lowering its defense by 2 CS.

The Bubble and Tackle crash into their targets, but the Mudbray prove to be sturdy little Pokemon- though each are badly injured, they're still on their feet. Though it is fighting wants to fight against you Kane Takumi, Pawniard applauds, as though your battling skills are the best thing ever.

Now ready for its epic duel, Pawniard darts forward and slashes at Takumi. The Frillish is struck by the attack, but seems relatively unharmed- more confused than hurt. Pawniard hits with Fury Cutter, dealing 23 damage. It is now Elise's turn.

OOC: Fey Dance and activating song of might. +5 damage bonus for Daisy, Takumi, Kane and Pawniard till the end of Elise's next turn. this will increase Elise's speed to 12

The confused Mudbray, hearing Elise sing, tries to blunder over to her. In its confusion, it triggers the Stealth Rock Pawniard laid, knocking itself out. The remaining two Mudbray unleash sprays of mud onto both Ira and Chase before beginning to beat a hasty retreat. Pawniard, meanwhile, applauds Elise's dancing, but then turns its attention to Takumi, clearly intending to make Kane prove by Pokemon battle he's a worthy Nio fan. Ira This coat is gonna need a good washing after today... Elise As you sing, you think you see something, or someone, watching you from the gully's entrance. Make a perception check. The confused Mudbray took out a Stealth Rock in its confusion and KO'd itself. The other two Mud Sprayed Ira and Chase. Ira took 16 special damage, and Chase took 14 special damage. It is now Daisy's turn, then Takumi's.

Kane nods, impressed by the majestic warrior, and enters battle position. First he orders Takumi to use night shade against the pawniard before casting a spell of confusion on the nio fan

Pawniard staggers back as the supernatural power of Kane and Takumi's love for Nio strikes it. It shakes its head, slapping itself on its cheeks. It then looks up with a jolt, having shaken off the confusion, and bravely slashes at Takumi. However, its claw hand simply passes through Takumi, who, for his part, looks confused. Pawniard uses Scratch! It doesn't affect Takumi! It is now Kane/Takumi's turn!
Unless someone wants to interfere with Kane's duel, only Kane, Takumi, and Pawniard are in initiative. Elise You see the red light of a camcorder recording, and a man with a backwards baseball cap holding it. Behind him is a woman dressed in Alolan attire, shading her eyes as she watches.

Hmm... they were silently filming the scene, maybe they could be dangerous? Nah! They're probably just sightseeing. On spotting them Elise waves at them.
"Alola!" She greets pair cheerfully.

Takumi chants an ancient chant to summon a dark spell (full transparency, it's just him saying frillish eerily again and again while he casts night shade which should do 12 damage if it hits)

Kane follows with his own chanting casting a spell of Will-O-Wisp

When Elise greets the odd duo, the woman waves her hands at her urgently. "No, no!" she whispers. "Just- just go back to helping the ninja kid! Pretend you don't see us! Ty, we can edit this out in post-production, right?" The man- Ty- replies "Yeah, sure, Gabby." Meanwhile as Kane and Takumi's supernatural power takes effect, Pawniard slaps at the little fires that have sprung up on its body- and then gives Kane a bow, signifying its acceptance of defeat. Kane is true Nio fan after all. Ira You overhear Elise talking with the two grown-ups, and you recognize their names. Gabby and Ty were regular reporters who became famous a year or two ago when they stole footage of a never-before-seen Pokemon and leaked it all over the internet. They were subsequently fired from their reporting jobs, and have since worked as freelance journalists and investigators into the supernatural. Elise You've heard of these two! They interviewed the actors and actresses from several of your favorite magical girl anime as part of a charity event a few months ago. Kane You recognize the two people Elise is talking to! You saw them at the last NioCon!
