The larger man blinks as Mica tips over his Camerupt, before it cries under the cold water. He begins to nod off, a little, before the woman smacks him. "Not. Worth. It. Okay?" The man hesitates, glancing up at the Milotic, before recalling his Pokémon as he follows the other two quickly and deftly back up the rocks, disappearing into the darkness.
The Milotic mrrrrrs at Mica and Donovan, in what seems to be thanks, before... suddenly seeming to realize it still has a passenger. It swings around, getting the end of its tail up on land, so that it's able to peer closer at the Sprike that's still steadfastly hanging on. The little jellyfish burbles at the two Trainers that it's suddenly ended up next to again.

"See all it takes is dropping a really scary name, and then people just leave" Donovan says sternly before laughing "Just kidding. I think it was you judo flipping their Pokemon and having type advantage. Me and Dandelion just sort of....stood here"
He turned his attention to the Milotic "But I'm a little scared leaving this one here, all on their own. Those people know about them being out in the bay. They'll be back"

"Sensei is a really good teacher, but I don't know if she would appreciate me flipping camels. They are meant to be on their feet, not their heads." Mica replied with the airy sort of thoughtfulness she usually applied to her whimsical musings. "I think she would be okay as long as she went back near the temple... but if she really likes you, maybe you should take care of her? The other Pokemon seems to really like her too! Two new friends for you, Donovan!"

The Milotic murmurs, resting its head on the ground, just staring at the Trainers, seemingly content to watch and listen to them bounce conversation back and forth. It also appears to be ignoring the attempts of the Sprike to apparently get its attention, occasionally flicking its tail elsewhere when the jabbering seems to get too much from a certain angle. The small jellyfish doesn't appear to mind too much, though.

Donovans eyes go wide "T...two of them" He hadn't considered bringing along the Sprike. Then again he hadn't even fully considered taking along the Milotic. But he couldn't just leave them alone knowing those poachers were out there. Well....they were maybe just regular people but greed would have made them poachers.
He turned back to the Milotic and Sprike, holding out a Pokeball in each hand "I guess Mica has a good point. Do you both want to come with me? You don't have to. I understand if you have family in there you want to keep safe. But I'll keep you both company, and Mica and myself are both really good friends. It'll even mean free food and a chance to get stronger and see the world. What do you say?"

Mica was pretty proud of Donovan. He cared for Pokemon a bit differently then she did, but the point was he cared. You didn't have to be completely inseparable and live one another's lives in order to be best friends. Her and Donovan were a clear indication of that. While he discussed with them, she tried to skip rocks on the weird lightning water. It wasn't still enough for that sort of thing, so really she was just throwing rocks to work out some pent up energy and aggression.

The stones make even more of a disappointing skip than normal on an ocean, basically just sinking through the electricity with nary but a few sparks coming up. There isn't even a satisfying sploosh! sound... The Milotic finally manages to shake the Sprike lose as the jellyfish peers curiously at the Pokéball, reaching out with a few tentacles towards it... only to go flying high up into the air as the serpent's tail gives a good whip. The Milotic bends its head down, seeming to consider the balls, before glancing back at the ocean, then the land, then back out at the ocean... it gives a mournful wail, before gingerly moving to boop the ball with its face, getting sucked inside. The Sprike geeeeeeeently drifts down with a gleeful burble... before seeming to notice that, oh... its ride was gone. It settles down gently on the ground, staring out at the glowing sea next to Mica. Not trying to leave... just seeming to think. You caught an Electric Milotic! Level: 20 Nature: Composed Gender: Female Abilities: Motor Drive, Electrodash Moves: Charge, Twister, Disarming Voice, Refresh, Conversion, shock Wave

Mica leaned down to scoop up the Sprike, settling it on her head and having a seat where it was. "It is very pretty, it wasn't like this before, you know?" She asked the Pokemon softly. "The world is a really big place, and it is changing so fast around us we don't even recognize it anymore sometimes."
Mica took a deep breath of the same air, on the same Beach she had spent time digging for clampearls and chasing krabby along the sand with Dusty. Ozone and the softly stirring crackle of the alien ocean answered. This was why Donovan got so upset. Even the places that felt as close to home as she could manage were foreign now.
Holding out a Pokeball, she offered it to her hat. "I'll give you plenty of rides, and you can hang out with Donovan's noodle fish. I agree, she is very pretty like he is."

The Pokémon seems to be surprised at being picked up, and squirms around a little bit, it settles down a bit when she places it atop her head. It clamps tightly on, but not painfully so, just staring out over the ocean with her. Who knows what it's thinking... It does seem to be willing to become a travel companion though, as it reaches out - with a little hesitation - to allow itself to be tapped by the Pokéball. There's a little bit of shaking, before it finally settles down, quiet at last, leaving Mica and Donovan alone on the beach... with Ham and Dandelion, so, okay, not really alone. You caught a Sprike! Level: 15 Nature: Lonely Gender: Male Ability: Liquid Ooze Moves: Thunder Shock, Wrap, Charge, Shock Wave, Thunder Wave

Donovan clutched the Pokeball closely. She was safe now. Deep down he knew it was only a temporary solution. Maybe when all of this was over he would try and help find a way to protect the more endangered Pokemon? No, he would be busy trying to help the denizens of the Temples to integrate with the rest of the region. Or would he be a gym leader or elite 4 member? Nah, he still wasn't near good enough at battling for that...
He sighed loud enough for Mica to hear before his eyes went wide and he laughed a little "Sorry. Sometimes I get a little to lost in thought about what to do next. But I guess the next thing we should do is go see your grand parents"

"What's that like?" Mica blinked at Donovan slowy. She wasn't often one to get caught up in her own head, but she rarely thought things through either, cocking her head to one side before shaking it. "Ah it's probably not important.. Yeah. Let's go meet Gram and Gramps. Come on Ham, they have to meet you, and everyone else I have met on my travels."

The two trainers clamber up the rocks, onto developed land - from this angle, there are clearly warning signs about the dangers of the bay. But, thankfully, they no longer are of a worry to the pair, as they're heading into the village proper.
It seems like the generator building next to the bay is the single largest structure in the village, though thanks to it, the rest of the place is brightly lit, with copious amounts of streetlamps. There really isn't anyone else on the streets, though, which are all in and of themselves fairly narrow. It's clear that this place doesn't really expect large volumes of traffic.
The general layout of the place hasn't changed much since Mica was last here, so she's able to navigate back to her house with no issues. The lights are still on, so apparently it's not late enough for her grandparents to go to sleep yet. They were probably watching a movie or something, knowing them.
The door's locked, so they have to knock, to the sounds of "Coming, coming," that Mica recognizes as coming from her grandmother. Once the lock's fumbled with, and the door opens, the pair sees Mica's grandmother just stand there, wordless, until she reaches out for Mica, asking "Millie... is... is that you?" She doesn't seem to believe it, but then quickly moves forwards to tightly embrace her granddaughter. "Oh, where have you two been? I thought I'd never see you again, Millie."

Mica slowly, and gingerly, put her arms around her grandmother. There was more strength in the teen's arms then there had ever been, but the embrace was of a gentleness that Donovan would have never observed from her before. Everything in her life was rough and tumble except this. The last two fossils of what remained of her family. Ones that would, too, fade away before long.
"I went and got licensed gram." She admitted almost immediately, though she remained silent for the duration of the long hug. "I've been growing up... This is my probably boyfriend, Donovan. He touches my hair sometimes. The blue squishy handsome one is Ham, one of my partners."
There was a pause, Mica's face screwing up in confusion. "Two of us?" She glanced at Donovan. "Have you two met before?"

Donovan stood awkwardly in place, his eyes going wide and his cheeks going bright red when Mica told her grandparents he was her 'probably boyfriend'. He started to stammer for a second before realizing that no words were going to come out.
He tried to rationalize it to himself that Mica probably thought that boyfriend meant something different. Like just a friend that was a boy. Yeah....that had to have been what she meant

"Oh, I'm so proud of you, Millie," her grandmother says, releasing the hug at last. "You're growing up into such a strong, accomplished young woman. But, come in, you both'll freeze out here." The two are suddenly acutely aware of how much colder the night seems than usual.
"And, no, I've never met him before," she continues, as the Trainers come into the house, "but I've met his parents and seen pictures. Heard things about him. You were each the last person the other was seen with, so we got in contact when the authorities tried to figure out where you might have gotten off to." She turns back and glances at the two sadly. "It's been six months since anyone's seen you, Millie... I really wish that you had at least called and said that you were alright. Your grandfather and I, and Donovan's parents, we were all so very worried. We thought that you'd been electrocuted trying to cross the Bay or something..." She trails off, but then adopts a little cheerier attitude. "But, you must be cold and hungry. Do you want some cocoa to warm up? And then call Donovan's parents if you've not already. I'm sure they'd love to know that you're alright."

"Six... months?" Mica's face screwed up as she counted the days. "Well they weren't paying very good attention Gram, I caught Cuddles in an old man's backyard Chinchou pond and got to borrow the nicest rod, and caught Ham a day ago. We got our second badge a couple days before that." Mica puffed her cheeks out in protest. She didn't like this at all, if the temples did a dumb thing again Donovan was going to freak out even more and now Gram was upset and scared and probably wasn't going to want her to leave.
"Yes ma'am... a Cocoa would be very nice. Can Ham and Donovan have one too?"

"Umm I'll actually let you catch up and come back in a little while. I'm going to head to the center and talk to my parents on a private PC, if you don't mind." Donvan had already began to head towards a door without waiting for a response "Mica, I should be back in a few hours at most. If not, I'll be at the center" While he would seem outwardly calm, Mica would be able to tell how frantic he actually was.
Once he stepped foot outside, he began to sprint. His heart was racing. Six months. They were in there for SIX MONTHS. How far had Axiom come in six months? Are the Pokemon in the other Temples even alright without their plates for this long? He promised them he would save them. Now they might be dead.
He slowed to a walk as he entered the Center and headed straight for a PC, dialing his home number and waiting. Trying to figure out how to explain it to his parents. Maybe he should have called the Lab first....

"Donovan." Mica had him by the shoulder before he was three steps out the door. Her grip was firm, but kind. "Together we are the mountain. Alone, we are sand. Don't be too long, we're still in this okay?"
She let him go. As much as it broke her heart to watch him leave in the state he was in, there was nothing she could do about it. It was an accepted fact. The changes the temples made in their lives upset the foundation of what Donovan had built for himself. Mica returned to the couch. "I didn't mean to worry you Gram, not this bad, I just got scared. Then I got involved in something I shouldn't have which is amazing and terrible all at once... And talking about it is pointless cause nobody ever believes me."

Mica
"Oh, Millie," she says, shaking her head and smiling, "you always did lose yourself in whatever you were doing. But, I've thought of you every day since then. Whatever it is you're doing in life, if it makes you happy, keep doing it. Just... please do your best not to worry people as much. I know it doesn't always seem like it... but people do care." She nods her head towards where the living room is. "Your grandfather's asleep in his chair there, but I'm sure he'd be thrilled to see you back, if you want to do that while I put the Cocoa on."
Donovan
Thankfully, the bright red roof of the two-story Pokémon Center is easy to find, rising up above most other buildings in town. The Center is empty, with only the bored-looking attendant inside, and all she does is give Donovan a little bit of a funny look as she runs inside, and then heads towards a PC.
The phone rings, and rings, and rings... until eventually a voice on the other picks it up, sounding a little exasperated. "Yes, hello?" The voice on the other end is Grace's. It's only audio, though, being a phone and not a PC, so he's not actually able to see his mother, but he can tell that she's tired. She probably just got off work not long before. "Who is this?"

If only her being back wasn't so transitory. She felt really guilty that she would leave them again, have to scare them like this again. On the plus side of things she could claim to have been with Donovan a lot longer then she thought which felt kinda nice? She hadn't wanted them to be scared for her, but maybe they should. She was touching things she wasn't supposed to, and that always made them worry. "Okay Gram. Come on Ham, let's meet Gramps."
Mica made her way into the living room. This place was as homey as any she had ever lived in to memory. She loved her grandparents dearly, but some distant part of her regretted the lifetime of whimsy. Of never quite being taken seriously. She hoped Donovan was going to be okay.
"Pappy?" Millicent gently stirred the elderly man with a hand on his shoulder. "Pappy I want you to meet my friends... I'm home."
