Young as the rock snake seems to be, it blinks languidly at Omega, not entirely comprehending what it is the boy is attempting to do. With his leverage and pressure it... eases its head slightly to one side and lets out a deep groan. Nudging the boy off of itself, it turns to resume the burrowing he had interrupted in the first place, as though it had paid their encounter no mind to begin with.
The Goldfish in the pond curiously peek through the surface of the water at their audience between taking little bites of their snack now and then. Kursz seems less intimidated, as though there is no chance they could get to him through that thin veil, or he could simply run if he needed to. They were fish, dumb little fish with no legs, and he had TWO! That made him better. It made him happy.

With Muku apparently not needing help, Thel just sits at the side of the water, watching. Water was never something he was a fan of - yes, he needed it to live, but it always felt cloying. But now... maybe...
He experimentally runs his hand through the water a little. Nice and cool. It... didn't actually feel that bad. Huh. Certainly not where he'd want to jump in like Muku did, but enough that he doesn't feel the tear between getting away from the water and staying close to Muku in case he was needed.

Omega howled, his cries echoing through the environment as he drops to the ground and strikes it. He wasted his time here, there was no way he could handle this thing alone...Maybe he should have listened to Thel and Muku.
Nearly dragging himself, he heads towards where the others were, his head hung low in defeat.

"Would a fish be good for Kursz?" Muku muses aloud, making her way up to the shore and flopping into the grass with a shiver. "Muku doesn't know what Kursz likes, but the sharp horn fish haven't stabbed Muku. Muku… Didn't even know there was such a thing as sharp horn fish."
She stops quietly. "There are a lot of Pokémon in this world, isn't there?"

"Omega, are you alright? Did it hurt you?" Em moved to the dark-haired boy's side to look him over. Other then seeming very crestfallen, the Mightyena appeared to be fine, though his quarry burrowed unmolested nearby. He hadn't tried to hurt it! She was very proud of him for that. It showed in the sparkle of her eyes.
Kursz joined Thel in the water experiment, overjoyed that hands could carry water, and not just eddy it the way his little feet could. "I guess a fish could be nice, but there is very little water up here on land. I remember fish like water, because they are dumb and didn't grow feet."

"I mean, I don't know how dumb they really are," Thel says. "I don't think humans can breathe water, so they can probably just hide, and avoid being caught. It must be really boring down there, but it's probably much safer. From humans, at least. I'm sure there are things that eat them. I don't really know... there wasn't really much in the way of fish-places where I lived before."

"I'm not hurt just my...." He froze for a second....Pride wasn't a word he had encountered as a Mighyena. He felt it often, or more accurately he felt a lack of it often. It was what pushed him so much now that he was a human. And yet he couldn't find the word for it "I'm not strong enough to make something that big listen to me yet. I maybe could have beaten it if I had fought but..." A faint red rose on his cheeks and he remembered that it was THEL who had told him that maybe fighting wasn't always the best option "But I didn't feel like it. Not today."
He walked over to the water and sort of kicked at it while looking around "So do we have to swim across this now? Because if so we should have captured that giant. It could have carried us"

"Muku was a bird. Muku's sum of life experiences do not apply in this situation either." She says chirpily. "Does Omega know how to swim? Muku has seen humans swim before, but Muku has no idea how to swim herself. We can walk around the little waters if it works easier."

"Oh... that is really smart then, hiding is smart!" Kursz agreed with Thel, that was something he understood, hiding because you needed to, because you were weak. Maybe fish hid in the water because they were weak. He took off his outer layers to jump into the water. That and Omega's kick seem to have startled the fish, but Kursz seems intent on approaching one now, though they flit across the pond away from him. Kursz seems a fine swimmer, following his motions might help (treat as aid another at a +2)

The water is cold and Muku doesn't really appreciate that, so Muku is going to walk around." Muku says and does, following the path of the water around the swimmers and briskly making her way to the other side of the waters if she's able to. In the meantime, she shivers in the cold and clutches Mmip closer to her chest. Cute things made cold things better! Maybe!~

"I... am good with not going in the water, thank you." Even if the water feels not half-bad, he still is not wanting to engulf himself in that extinguishing fluid. No, not at all. "I, too, will just... walk around. Though, it might be interesting to try eating one of those fish..." he muses. They look good, and it's something that he'd not really ever been in a position to taste before. But, no... it's not the place for it. Humans have much food at their places. He can hold off until then. Probably.

Omega takes a few steps back before dropping into a runners stance. He took a hard look at the water, and where Kursz was, before taking off at full speed and leaping into it, trying to make it as far as he could before he had to start actually swimming. He wasn't going to let this pond beat him like the Rock Snake had. And if it did he would just drown because why even bother.
Once he hit water he instinctively began to kick his legs and pull himself forward with his arms, having less of an issue than he had expected. He might not even have to doggy paddle at this rate!

"Muku's flock was never good at catching fish to eat, so Muku doesn't know what they would taste like. Muku has seen older, angry Pidgey's catch fish though. They are much faster and better at catching fish when they go 'splooosh', and try to invade the land." Her eyes narrow intensely, glazing over like wax candles. "Stupid Pidgey kind. Always angry. Always attacking Starly flock with their sharp talons and eyes so sharp. They don't fight as good as Muku's flock, but they do better on their own than us and that's stupid, stupid. Not as bad as knife-beak birds, but still bad."
She pauses for a moment, then looks over at Thel intently.
"But ah... Muku is curious. Did Thel's flock have any Pokenemies? Muku doesn't think that Muku had ever seen Thel's type before meeting Thel, so when Muku thinks about it, Muku doesn't know anything about Thel's flock. What were they like?"

"Mostly birds," Thel says, remembering. "Large birds, that would swoop down on you if you strayed too far out in the open. It made sunning oneself always a dangerous prospect. Occasionally snakes, too, ones with razor tails. Though they tended to be more competitors for prey, since they relied a lot on poisons. Oh, and I guess bears, if you went into the wrong cave. Bears are bad news."
"My, uh, 'flock,' though..." he thinks of how to put it. "For Salandit, it's a 'lounge.' But, there were probably a good... fifty or something of us. All watched over by The Lady. She had a name... but, well, none of us were allowed to speak it. Not that it really mattered, since there was only one The Lady. All of her daughters were Ladies, too, but they weren't as important as Her. We had to listen to them, unless it was something that contradicted what She said." He flinches. "Sometimes, though, they wouldn't take that as an answer. Uh, anyways the days were mostly spent out hunting, searching for food, unless The Lady had a different task for us, like expanding the den, or cleaning out nesting areas. It was all hard work, but being one personally selected for those tasks... it was such an honour." He nods, getting lost in the memory.
"The den itself was the most magical place in the world, too. Always so relaxing, so welcoming. Especially with The Lady watching over it all. It was always so hard to leave and do other tasks... though, so easy at the same time, knowing that it was needed for the good of all. I... don't know if that makes any sense. But, at the end of the day, it was always the best to return there... as long as you were successful in your task, at least. If not... well, you got punished. There was no hiding it ever, so you might as well just confess right away." He looks away from Muku, averting his eyes in shame. "I am the worst failure now. I got captured. And I don't even know how to return home. Or even if I could. I may never see it again."

Muku too looks downtrodden across the ground. If Thel was a failure, did this mean Muku was a failure too? After all, she got caught too, it wasn't just him. Yes. It was probably true. They were all failures in one way or another. Sighing deeply, her head hangs low to the ground. "You're right. We're all failures who got captured."
She allows for a brief moment of self-pity, but quickly launches tries to steer the conversation in another direction. "The lounge sounds... Weird. But nice. Muku wouldn't mind being around lots of other Starly's in the same way, though it would be very weird to have just one leader Lady person. Starly, Staravia, we peck and beep when we want to make a point, and the Starly who beeps the loudest is always right. And, we all have one job, and that's not to die. Oh! And keep the flock safe from outsider flocks. Oh! And keep an eye on the eggs."
"Muku must have forgotten about the other jobs. That does happen; Muku was only just not a fledgling when the humans came. So, Muku didn't have much time to learn much. There wasn't much time... Muku..."

On land, or by water, our intrepid heroes pressed ever onwards. Kursz got himself an orange fish that didn't even have a dangerous looking horn on it! It had the dumbest look of anything in the pond, and for that reason left him feeling safe, unlike the sassier looking Goldeen. With the sun setting in the west, they entered Ecruteak. Sweat or water, the five were a bit damp from the day's trials. Before them;
Ecruteak, The City Where History Flows.

The wind blows through, gently wafting through Muku's hair as she admires the view of the old town. She smiles softly, but with a notable air of confusion. "That's a big... Something. City? Muku doesn't know what words really work for this." She says to no one in particular. "But we're supposed to find the building with the red roof, right? And another lady who might be nice to us? There was something about the alpha trainer as well, but Muku isn't sure where she would find such a person like that..."
