"Well," holding out his bounty, "we won't starve yet at least. These will be better if I roast them."
Getting to work, he shelled some nuts, and broke down aromatics. He didn't much care for the idea of abandoning their mountain quest, but food was important, "the mountain is still our goal, but diverting a bit to gather some supplies would be- necessary."
Passing out what he had prepared, first to Aiden, "I don't have any salt, but it's safe to eat," then to his brother, "eat it, and don't complain."
Packing up to go, "Water you say?" thinking of the last time he fell in, but it was still a valuable resource, "guess there may be more growth there."

Aiden considered the options- he didn't know enough about the island (though neither did anybody else) about the island. But he did know that the only reliable source of supplies was the town- until the trainers who had been brought here could manage to set up towns, settlements, marts and centres there would be no really reliable stores. There were really two choices- try and see if they could find out resources, or head back and get supplies. Only one was a certainty.

"Usually, there's greater flora near water; but with the cold... we might not find anything, but it's a better shot and we might be able to catch some fish in the river. Could ask Mari to help us sniff out some food along the river. The Snorlax family tend to be good at finding food, so Mari might lead us to something." Taking the mushrooms, "Thank you, Genki. I am okay without salt or seasoning." He ate them without much wincing. "Towards the river, then. Let's see if we can rustle up some grub."
Letting Mari out of her pokéball, Aiden will smile at the Pokémon and crouch down. "Will you help us with something today, Mari? We need to find food for everyone so that we can go to the mountain. Will you help us find some? I'll try making something tasty for everyone later if we find something."
Hoping that Mari would agree, Aiden stood and pulled on his bag after making sure he was fully packed. Once the brothers were ready as well, Aiden will head back towards the river.
Keeping an eye out for food; berries, roots, nuts, fruits. Aiden is letting Mari's sense of smell assist them in finding some food. Mari Perception: Vr1BRTqA1-6+1-6+1-6+1-6 = 14 Aiden Survival: 1-6+1-6+1-6 = 131-6·1-6·1-6·1-6·1-6·1-6·1-6

Mari led the way, Aiden following close behind and keeping his eyes peeled, "Munch-laaaax!" the munchlaz cried as it moved through the forest, moving from tree to tree hopefully sniffing and looking. She grew more and more despondent as she failed to find anything that would provide her with sustenance (at least nothing that she wanted to eat). As the trees thinned and they drew nearer to the river, she became a little happier, perhaps because she had scented something that would prove tastier than tree roots and evergreen leaves.
At teh river's edge were a series of bushes- most of them simply green balls, but a few bore small chesto berries on them, just enough to et and make a small meal out of.

Crouching down to collect the chesto berries from the bush, "This is a great start, Mari! Thank you! Here, for your hard work!" Handing Mari one of the Cesto berries, Aiden looks up to the brothers. "If we follow the river, it should lead us to the mountain. Eat some of these and then we'll get going." Once everyone is fed, Aiden will start heading towards the mountain, keeping an eye out for Pokémon and anything out of the ordinary.

Genki wished the berries were juicer, but a meal's a meal. "Thanks Mari." If there was enough to not go hungry, genki would save a berry incase they needed it later, or had the oppertunity to plant it.
"My cousin had a portable grower he would travel with, grew some really tasty Mago Berries," his tummy rumbled a bit, yerning for them at the thought. "At least we are making good progress, they weren't lieing when they said this place was wild."
Genki though how nice it would be to have some sort of warm bodied fire lizard draped around his neck right now as he viewed his own surroundings.

Aiden grabbed some berries from the floor, grabbing a small energy root as he did so. Genki took the lead in following the river towards the river, reorienting Aiden who had tried to head in the wrong direction away from the mountains.

"Thank you, Genki... my focus is lacking at the moment. When we take a break, we could do some training; it would definitely help us get used to the forest terrain and the colder temperatures." Following Genki's lead towards the mountain, Aiden will put the berries and root in his bag.

"Training would be good, so long as we pull out punches. Don't want to seriously hurt or get hurt. This island sure does offer a wide aray of weather." Genki feels a chill as there are getting closer to the mountain and higher elevation.

Both trainers knew that they could do some basic training heere- focusing on agility, targeting, focus and such-like. This might well help them to prepare their teams for working in the forest. (OOC: You can use the training rules here)

"We need to find a spot where we could let out our teams for training," following Genki's lead towards the mountain, Aiden will keep an eye out while they hiked through the forest. "If we each let two of our team out, I can teach them to focus a little better, it helps with accuracy of attacks sometimes."If he spots an area with at least 15 feet of space, he will motion to the spot, "Genki, I think this would be a good place to train."When they stop, he will let out Major and Temari, crouching down to get pet each Pokémon. I can train 6 Pokémon with Focus Training, but can only apply experience training to 2. I am choosing Major and Temari for the experience training and willing to help Focus Train either of the other trainers' Pokémon.

"Hey not a bad idea! Avi, Snare, let's go!" Trapinch and Ralts appear from their balls. "I can help our palls pick of the pace."I can add experience to 2 pokemon as well, and agility train 6 pokemon. So, we can combine our trainings for some power houses.
Agility training adds 1 to movement and 4 to inactive

Taking advantage of the morning, to do as many trainers did, Genki and Aiden let out some of their team and began sparring to hone their fighting instincts.

"That was a good sparring session," says Aiden to Genki, "Looks like our Pokémon had some fun while they were at it too." Crouching down and pulling a berry (Whatever was left over from breakfast) each from his bag, he gives each of the Pokémon one.
Looking up at Genki, "After they finish eating, want to continue to head towards the mountain? Or maybe we could do more foraging?"

There was a bit of ferver during the training, Genki had to dive out of the way of some stray dirt Avi kicked up. he tumbled to the ground agile enough. He was now rubbing a scuff as he responded. "Sounds like a plan, he should press forward. Ready to go Cole?"
Cole was staring up at the sky entranced by- something, he didn't respond. Plachinf a hand on his shoulder, Genki repeated his name, this time he jerked and turned, "humm- I suppose, I was thinking of home and mom's beef stew."

As they discussed plans, the two began to settle in on the decision to press in, to close on the mountains of this strange island.

Pressing on towards the mountain, Aiden will keep his senses stretched for any Pokémon they might come across while heading in that direction. Watching for anything out of the ordinary while they walked, Aiden thought back to his family back home.
"So, tell me about your family. Where are you from?"

As they walk, they talk. "My mother is a writer, so he would be home a lot. Best of all, she did her creative thinking while cooking, so we ate well, often. There's this steak stir fry she makes with banana peppers..." his thought trailed off. coming to a ditch in the earth, Genki Jumped over it. That triggered a though.
"Thing is, i believe that there in always a way through something, there's no need to go around. It may take a bit more effort, but face your problems head on, rather than avoiding them." The metaphore seemed logical enough.
Genki tugged on a branch and it broke free, he began slashing at the air, testing the sound it made. "What's your story, you wanna be a doctor or something."

Both trainers headed towards the mountains once more, having been momentarily derailled by the morelull and shiinotic- of course, they were still none the wiser as to why they had been taken by them. Whatever they did now, they would have to be careful- they had to make it through the mountains with few supplies, and then on and beyond wahtever was there as well.
For now, there did seem to be at least some sort of small pathway leading up through the forest and towards the mountains.

"See, this path is made by the footfalls of the pokemon inhabiting this island, should be the best path; a way through. Though, it could also be more densely populated."
