"Her name is Mica. She has the form of a Rock type, and so she stayed in the first room we came across others in. Also I was not cast out. My true form is not this. Outside of these sealed places I am only a human. According to those that we met of the Fairy tribe, you used to be able to change form on a whim. That is no longer the case. Humans are born human, and Pokemon are born Pokemon. We live separate lives, mostly parallel though some humans help their Pokemon partners grow stronger through battle. They're known as Trainers. They live much like you explained. Travelling around and growing mentally and spiritually, in addition to physical growth as well. I have come to consider us something of a nineteenth tribe, one who somehow survived without sealing ourselves. That is why I am unaligned. My only goal is to help those who have been sealed to see the sun again. Or for the first time in some cases. In both the Psychic and Grass Tribes I met children born after the sealing. They had never seen the sun, or trees. They had never felt the wind blow across their face. I want them to feel that. I want YOU to feel that again. That is why I travel between the Tribes now" Donovan had never looked away, though he did get a certain look in his eye as he explained what he wanted to accomplish. It was almost wistful. The journey was hard, but he was doing it for others. He couldn't let it end here

"No, it is not I," he says. "I am but a guardian of my people. I do not decide our path, whatever other Tribes may do. However," there is a small break in the serious façade, and a little gleam in his eye, "I am deciding your path, so, let's go, little pebble." He gestures with a paw towards the tunnel... that she was already headed towards anyways.
Donovan
"Hmmm..." Qiara says, glancing at the doorway. "Why did she stay there?"
"Well, not all Pokémon could shift," the Carbink explains, "Some just simply... were. Only the union of two Tribespeople would hatch another, those who tried the same with Pokémon found naught but another beast emerged. Some still took them as their children, but it's just... not the same." She sighs, sadly. "I cannot even remember my own children any more. It has been too long. I have spent too much time asleep, trying to pass the ages with some semblance of mind intact. With your visit here, I feel more alive than I have in ages... but it will not last." She turns to Qiara. "I think that we should give it to them. What have we to lose?"
"Kiere," the Probopass says, "you know that I cannot do that. You and I are not the only voices here. And I cannot lead us to an uncertain fate without discussing it with others."
"Humph."

Mica wondered if that was a term of endearment for rock people, like how Grandma had called her peanut for a few years until it got old. She kind of liked being called pebble, but the idea of not fitting in here, being an outsider in a place she should have fit in the most, was unsettling. She followed along without protest.

"She said she was tired and we should just sleep until everyone woke up. I didn't think that would be a good idea for me to do that though." He says "I hope she's doing ok...."
"I will meet with as many of you as you want, even if it was everyone in here. I understand wanting to get their input over such a monumental decision. But at the same time, I can't just give up. A lot of people have entrusted their lives to me, and I don't take that lightly." His determination showed in his eyes. He would almost look heroic, if he wasn't less than a foot tall and lacking arms.

Mica
The wolf leads Mica through twisty corridors, before arriving at a room. Slumbering in the center is a gigantic monster, plated in metal, horns jutting from its head. "Elder," the wolf says, "I have wish to speak with you. I require your judgement."
There is no response. The Lycanrock almost seems to sigh and tense, before its teeth light up with electricity, and it moves forwards to send a jolt coruscating through the Aggron's body. The change in state is sudden, with the wolf suddenly going flying against the Temple wall as an arm is flung out, a roar echoing deafeningly around the room as the Pokémon rises to its full height. "Who dares disturb me?" He casts his eyes around.
The wolf picks himself up from the ground weakly, ears pressed low, tail between his legs. "Apologies, Elder Junthen," he says, clearly barely holding his voice steady, "But I require your judgement on a dire matter."
"Who are you?" Junthen demands, loudly.
"Paravius, sir, one of the guardians."
"Very well. Speak. It had better be a good reason."
"This one, here," Paravius says, gesturing with a paw towards Mica, "She is from the outside. She and one other that I have not seen. She claims that there is a foe who, much like herself, can enter, and seeks to destroy us."
The colossal beast stomps over to in front of Mica, and bends down so that his giant face is directly in front of her. "Explain. Tell me who sent you." He 'hrumphs' gruffly. "I knew we shouldn't have followed. If there is one Rock that could survive outside, we all could have."
Donovan
"Well, it does sound like you've had a long journey..." Kiere says. "But, you do have determination."
"I'm sure it will be fine," Qiara says, after some thought. "As long as all she does is rest, she shouldn't wake anyone else up."
"How many of us left are there, still holding on?" the Carbink inquires to the Probopass. "It can't be many. Not after so long."
There's a long pause. "Other than you, there are four. Airen, Danol, Palia, and Junthen. Airen's closest, so we can go there first." She begins to float out of the room.
"A shame. I was hoping for more." Kiere looks to Donovan, as she begins to follow the other Rock Type. "Outside... how many are there?"

Donovan went quiet for a moment. Only six left from before the sealing. Six who had been alive and waiting for untold millennia. If what they said was true, they didn't many memories left, but he was sure that the things that were left were one of a kind viewpoints. "I don't know how many there are. The city I'm from has thousands of people who live there, and there are around eight hundred thousand people who live in Vesperia as a whole. That's what the land is now called, I don't know what you called it before..."
He goes quiet again, there was so little he knew about how they lived, about who they were. Little by little he was piecing things together but it didn't feel like he knew enough. One day he hoped to be able to sit down and really learn from them. Someone had to start piecing together their culture and helping them integrate with society once they were free, who better than him.
"But that's just humans, there are countless numbers of Pokemon as well. That's also only here in Vesperia, I'm from Sinnoh, halfway across the world, and there are even more people there."

"The human forms your people used to have got left outside. I'm a human, I've always wanted to be a Pokemon, but when it finally happened everything was people yelling at me, being mad, or killing each other." Mica plopped down on her backside in front of that big face. "It is a long story, but I will tell it again. Every tribe seems to have survived whatever you hid from. The Elder of the Fighting Tribe is dead, killed by Axiom, the person we came to warn you about. The Elder of the Grass tribe... Esthia I think her name was... lost her mind and perished in combat with one of her guardians."
Mica fidgeted under those watchful eyes. They were the same pretty blue, that helped a little. "When the strength of the first plate was breached, it released a power that let a few people nearby enter these safe spaces. Donovan and I are learning, trying to gather the plates by asking nicely, where as Axiom is killing for them. We want to let everyone that is trapped out... Axiom... we don't know why she's doing what she is. We have been to the Grass, Fairy, Fighting, and Psychic clans so far. Akashi gave the Psychic Plate to us in the hopes that we would finish this pilgrimage. Axiom stole the Fighting Plate. Esthia, before she perished, was lucid enough to grant us the Grass Plate. The Fairy Clan was... strange. I am not sure how much of it was in our heads now, but they gave up their plate as well, in the hopes of freedom."

Both of the others stop in their (metaphorical) tracks and turn towards him when he says how many people there are. "That's... a lot of people." Qiara breathes, as she begins moving again. "We only have several thousand ourselves... the other Tribes are likely similar. I'd imagine."
"We have likely slept for far, far longer than we thought, if there are that many people." The Carbink shakes her head. "Especially if they no longer have the plates to sustain them. How do you all even live like that...?"
"Hazards of sleeping, not telling time much... but it's better than living out all that time. Hopefully, if we do end up relinquishing our plate, it will not be too long before the Seal is broken. I do not look forwards to a long wait without it to aid our slumber..."
Mica
"No." The voice is strong and authoritative. "You will... do no such thing. You are Rock, and of Rock only. Your loyalty should be here. If you have the ability to collect the other plates, you will bring them here. We shall be released. The others can rot in the dungeons they sealed themselves into. If they are so weak and foolish as to give up their most valuable possession without a fight, they do not deserve to see the outside again."

"Paravius just said I wasn't one of you a few minutes ago, now you are saying I am, which is it?!" Mica raised her voice defiantly to the tower of horns and steel in front of her. "Have you really taken so solid a stance on yourself that you think the people I saw die weren't trying their hardest before they made this choice?!" Mica was furious, and held her ground as she verbally dug into the massive Pokemon at full volume. "Do you think sleeping makes you better warriors?!"

"I think you've been sleeping for a few millennia honestly" Donovan piped up "And I'm not sure how the Plates change life, but I'm guessing our lives are just much shorter now. We live like candles, burning bright but quick. A human doesn't live for more than a century at the longest, and Pokemon vary depending on the species."
"I'm only 18, which I'm sure is nothing more than the blink of an eye to you two" It's odder the more he thinks on it. These two, and most likely a lot of the others he met, are older than civilization as he knows it, and yet they give him the very source of their longevity. The Plates hold so much power and yet they were entrusted to someone as young and weak as him. Someone who couldn't even run through a gym without Mica to literally push him along.
"What can you tell me about the others we are going to meet? Will they be as kind as you two, even though I'm not a Rock?"

"You may not have been born here, but you can show that your soul is that of stone," Junthen says. "Paravius speaks with an inexperience born of youth. No matter the distance, no matter the quarrel with each other, we are one. Divided we are sand. Together we are a mountain. And with your help, this mountain will cause an avalanche to rain over the others, and claim our rightful place."
"I give other warriors due respect," he says, growling. "Those who fell, they were noble. But the rest of them, who did not fight to the end? Pathetic, for refusing to fight to the last breath for their lifeblood. Slumber I may, but if we were threatened, I would fight to the death to protect my home and people! Do not besmirch me!"
Donovan
"A century... how many Moons is that?" Qiara asks. "That is not a word that I've heard before."
"18 Moons?" Kiere breathes, "You surely do grow faster. It took me nearly two hundred to grow to when I chose to adventure far from the village."
"I will admit," Qiara says, "I've not interacted much with the others, not for a long while. Mostly Junthen, who was the last of the Elders to finally succumb to slumber away from here. He was the guardian of the plate for a long time. He's very proud... if there are problems from you not being a Rock, they'll probably come from him. Danol probably won't mind, he's very emphatic on sacrifice, which you are very much doing. He tried to hold on as long as he could, making sure that everyone else was going to survive before sleeping. Palia might be suspicious, but as long as you don't try to fancy-talk her, she'll probably be fine. She's very blunt in return, so... try to not be offended. Airen, he's the youngest of the five, tends to listen more than talk. But, I've learned to listen if he decides to say something. We're almost at his room now."

"I'm guessing a year is longer than a Moon. My best guess is that a Moon would translate into what we now call a month. There are 12 months to a year, and 100 years to a century. If I'm right, I guess that would put me at around two hundred and sixteen moons, which fits your timeframe" He mentally made a note to write this down later and possibly try and find out if he was right about them just following a lunar cycle.
"Hopefully we can make things work, even with this Junthen. I will be ready to listen to Airen when, or if, he decides to speak. I've learned those who mostly listen are often the wisest" Listening instead of speaking...that's also something he needed to work on. Maybe there were more lessons he could learn from the Rock Types than he had initially thought.

"Is it respectful then, for me to abandon the charge laid on me by these great warriors, to use my abilities to grant you a mastery you did not earn? To make their sacrifices in vain?" Mica asked more calmly in the ringing silence that followed her exchange with Junthen. "Nothing would please me more then to have a place to belong. To have family and friends that understand what is in my heart, but I can't sacrifice other people for that dream. Let me free you with the other clans, then I will stand with you, not before. You can assert yourself on an even field and make Rock take it's place towering above the others as you'd like. Building a strong foundation to the highest peak."

There's a silence, before Junthen laughs, boisterously, before falling serious again. "Flowery words, indeed. But you will not abscond with it that easily. I am sure that the others in other Tribes that you have spoken to were convinced. But they were fools indeed. Not worthy of the legacy of those who fell to defend them. The lineage of cowards deserves not to be continued. Those who did not fight until the last, they shall live only to regret their actions. They do not deserve to benefit off those who have honour."
Donovan
"And a millennia is... 100 centuries?" Qiara asks. "My... that is... a long time. I suppose I should have realized that, but it still... far too many Moons to truly comprehend. They all blend."
"Oh, I see. So..." The Carbink goes quiet, as she seems to be calculating things in her head. It's a while, and nearing a door, before she speaks again. "I haven't had to think that much for ages... yes, you do live much shorter lives. We can live at least twice or three times that age, even away from the sustenance of our Plate. Nearby... well, I've never heard of one living in their village to expire from age. Just artificial causes."
Qiara stops in front of the opening, before calling in. "Airen, we have need of your council." As Donovan moves up, he can see curled inside a massive serpent of boulders. "An emissary from the outside has entered. He claims to know a way to free us, but requires our Plate."
The serpent stays both silent and still, but seems to hear, opening up one giant eye to stare down at the Budew.

"I have no intention of absconding with anything. I warned you about Axiom, and asked you for the plate, you said no. If nothing will change your mind, I will simply leave, and Rock can remain here until Axiom comes." Mica frowned up at Junthen, her eyes sliding to Paravius. The other Pokemon had used an attack to wake the Aggron, maybe this sort of thing was just accepted as what was."I'll prove I'm a warrior worth your plate if I have to!"

Donovan nodded, completely fascinated with what they said "So the Plates can keep you alive indefinitely...Fascinating. It makes it all the more important that I free everyone. Being trusted with the very source of their life....I will live up to their hopes."
As they made it into the room, Donovan lowered his head out of respect for the giant Rock type before speaking "I am Donovan Fleur, and like they said I have come into this place to help free you all. I've explained my story a few times, but I am willing to do so again, or answer any questions you might have. Because what I need is your permission to take the Plate that lies in the center of this place. I know what I ask is major, but I do not ask it lightly"

"You clearly do not understand," Paravius growls from the side, before Junthen cuts him off. "She does not. Which is why I am instructing her. You, too, had best remember your place, guardian." He turns back to Mica. "If you think that winning a fight, or even several makes you somehow worthy of our plate... you are wrong. It is our lifeblood. It is more than any of us, every one of us. It helps sustain us, keep us strong. Individuals are nothing, in the grand scheme of things. The Tribe is everything. And without the plate, the Tribe weakens. Sand apart. Mountain together. That is Rock."
Donovan
The snake blinks, tilts its head, and then... stays silent. He seems to be taking a good long time to think about things. "Why do you want to help?" he asks simply, at last, in a light voice.

"At first it was because I didn't know what else to do. But I think it was when I met the Psychic Tribe that I truly knew I had to help. I met children there, born after the sealing, who had never seen the sun. They had never felt the breeze against their faces, or even touched grass. There are so many things you can experience in the world, and they would never have the chance to do that, even though they wanted to. I'm doing this so that those children, and the sprouts of the Grass Tribe, and any children you might have here, can experience the world. I'm one of the only people with the power to come and go from these places, I can't just waste that power by not doing anything." Donovan looked up at the giant, his eyes filled with determination
"If it takes everything I have, I will make sure that those children get to see the world"

"I know it's the most important thing to you, next to your tribe. I know this is the hardest thing anyone has ever asked of you, that is why I won't press any further." Mica replied softly. "You really want me to be part of the mountain?" She dropped to her backside. It wasn't about the plate that he'd made that announcement of her, maybe? "Would you have made the offer if I'd brought nothing but myself? If I was just... Mica? That's never been good enough for anyone."

"Any rock is important," Junthen says. "You do not cast aside a stone because it is flawed. Stone can be shaped, it can be polished. Even if you do not know what being a rock is, that does not mean that you cannot be taught. As long as you are strong, as long as you stand up for your beliefs and defend them until the end... then you are rock. You need not do anything unless the Tribe itself is threatened."
Donovan
"I see..." comes the quiet reply at last. "I believe you. You have a certain fire within you, despite your typing." With a scraping sound, the snake uncurls. "Is everyone out there like you?" he asks, as Quiara begins to head for the door, an accord having apparently been reached.
