"So the goal is just to get to the end of this? I guess I'll start with my partner Rose" Donovan says, releasing the Budew at his feet. A moment later Rose was covered in a bright green light, his sprouts untwisting and opening up into two flowers and his form becoming slimmer and topped with a thorned head.
The newly evolved Roselia elegantly strolled over to Donovan who picked up his starter with a smile before looking over at Mica "I'd say this is a pretty good sign for us. Apex evolving is what helped push us to the win in our last gym battle. Let's see if Rose can do the same"

Mica releases Morganite, who is also noticeably larger. the gem in the middle of the Pokemon's forehead brighter then ever, and it's crystals more developed. "It's just a race... Just a race." She repeats to herself and breathes, staring down the magneted horror with all it's bleeps and bloops, who would ever want such a thing? It didn't even really look like a Pokemon.

"All right!" Macyn says with a clap, "Looks like everyone's ready. Take your positions at the door there, and don't cross the line until the buzzer goes. Believe me, I'll know if you do. Anyways, I'll be waiting at the end. Best of luck, and remember, you have your Pokémon with you, too."She disappears through the door, letting Mica and Donovan set up, watched over by the multiple unblinking eyes of Maglev. After a long few moments, a buzzer sounds. The Gym begins.MapFirst round, go. You can move up having treated yourself and your 'mon as being in any square just off of the top left opening. You have one round before Magnezone follows you in.
Dark grey squares are entirely impassable - walls, columns, or doors. Light grey squares are fences. F13 is the goal. Other squares will be explained as you see them in-character.

Donovan nods as Macyn tells them to ready up and runs in at his full speed the moment the doors open. Of course, his full speed still isn't super fast, barely outpacing Rose, who follows close behind, letting loose a flurry of glowing leaves that seem to home in on the door ahead as he yells out " See if you can hit it hard enough that it comes open before we get there!" Donovan Sprints
Rose uses Magical Leaf on the door in the middle of the fence, trying to break it open with 35 Grass Special Damage

"Morganite, you may as well too!" Mica yelled back as she shot ahead of the pack, all the time she spent walking and wandering lending itself to her surprising athleticism when she really opens up, reaching the first barricade in a paltry six seconds. Rose's leaves make some good gouges in the door, but Morganite's psychic beam blasts the lock and knob straight out of its place in the portal. Whoops. It looks like it'll be a cinch to slide it open now, though. Which is a good thing, because an ominous humming is coming back from where the pair started. It seems the ten second head start is up. Swift action to open the door now.
Donovan and Rose are up before Magnezone enters.

As the two strikes happen on the door, Donovan runs up at full speed and wrenches it open, sidling past it as he does so. Rose is quick behind, taking in excess energy and growing a little in size as he follows. Donovan Sprints

The door easily slides inwards, the lack of anything but already being in that state keeping it closed. Donovan, now that he's past the bulk of the first obstructions, can kinda see beyond the thick, sturdy, square metal columns in front of him. At the far end of the corridor, right before the corner, are two machines. They appear to be automated defenses of some kind, judging by the swivelling top sections of machine with suspiciously barrel-like extrusions on the end. Though, as to what kind, he can't be sure. They don't seem to have spotted him yet, but that's probably liable to change once he steps further out. He doesn't have too much time to think on it, though, as the Magnezone comes floating in, beginning by unleashing a burst of light that rains over Donovan and Mica. It tingles, but, thankfully doesn't seem focused enough to hurt much. The machine makes disgruntled beeping noises, before retargeting onto Rose. This seems much more successful, as three orbs fling out from its magnets, striking the Roselia dead on. The third, blue, orb seems larger than the others, and appears to send a sheen of ice over the grass-type, freezing it in place. Magnezone misses with Mirror Shot. Rose takes 42 damage, 2 injuries, and is Frozen from Tri Attack. A critical hit!

After watching the devastating hit from the strange not-Pokemon, and Donovan's trump card taken out of the fight immediately, Mica had concerns. There was probably a reason this was a race and not a straight battle. "Morganite, Hypnosis on the 'bot, we've got to slow it's rollers a bit if we're going to make it to the end."
"Bul." The quadruped replied serenely, turning on the offending Pokemon with its crystals gleaming.

"That'll have to do..." Mica recalls Morganite, and books it through the open door past Donovan. "Recall Rose, shut the door and run for it, I'll get her out if we get a breather... come on!"1d20

The mechanoid Pokémon seems to get distracted from Morganite's glowing, slowing its bobbing a little bit. It's not stopped, but it seems to be a little less intense. Mission accomplished, Mica dashes past Donovan, to the other side of one of the columns... and realizes that she's right out in the open, more or less. The machines out at the end of the corridor swivel their turrets towards her, before the barrels light up and each one spits a bolt of electricity at her, clipping her in the side and a leg. She doesn't feel any pain when they hit her, though. In fact, she realizes that she doesn't feel anything at all in large areas around where the bolts struck. It's a little more awkward for her to move now, it seems... Morganite hits with Hypnosis. Magnezone is now Drowsy. Mica gets hit by a Turret, for -2 Speed CS. As Donovan watches the bolts strike Mica, he recalls Rose before dashing forward and taking cover behind the opposite side of the pillar as Mica " I'm not fast enough to make it too much further than this, so I'll dash from column to column and slow the big one down if you can make it forward and maybe knock out the turrets. If not try and keep behind cover." His breathing was heavy already but Donovan grit his teeth. They weren't gonna fail at this, they would make it through. He knew it. Donovan recalls Rose and then moves behind the column

With Rose recalled, and Donovan dashing away, the floating disk nonchalantly - but swiftly - floats over the fence, before taking the time to re-evaluate the situation, and lock onto the nearest (and only) visible target. The Magnezone creates shiny metallic spheres in between its magnets, before launching them at the Trainer, unerringly seeking him out. It hurts, but, thankfully, the calming influence from Morganite earlier seems to still linger. Magnezone Sprints. Donovan takes 25 damage from Magnet Bomb.

"Donovan there's some kinda tubes down there and they shoot TINGLES! ZAPPY THINGS! COME ON, WE GOTTA GO FAST!" Mica sprints for the next point of cover as fast as she can, pressing her back against the pillar that shields from the turrets. This whole run was more pressing then she'd like. Maybe they needed to do some fighting. Who else did she have she could use? The thingies were making her limbs go numb didn't seem like Pokemon.

Mica manages to make it to the pillar before the machines are able to get another shot off at her. From behind the pillar, it seems as if they're continuing to swivel. So, apparently, they probably don't remember where she is.

After taking a hit from the steel monstrosity in front of him, Donovan silently curses himself for everything. For their fight with Polaris, for not healing at the center, for not having a team suited for this...or any gym challenge. Maybe he wasn't suited for this, all he had done so far was constantly drag Mica down... He grit his teeth and started running through the pain before he could think any more on this. No. He wasn't just bringing her down. He was gonna help her. He was helping already by distracting the Pokemon...right? As he was running, he gripped the ball for his newest team member in hand, releasing the Taruos as he ran forward " Alright Larkspur, I was hoping we would have a bit more time before you would make your debut, but I need your help now! Keep that thing from getting us!" The little Taruos came out looking confused and terrified, showing giant doe eyes at the mechanical Pokemon and doing his best to throw it for a loop. Donovan Sprints behind the next pillar and uses Quick Switch to release Larkspur the Tauros
Larkspur uses Sweet Kiss with an 18 vs AC 6 to confuse the Mega Magnezone, then Donovan activates Trickster and Larkspur uses a Flirt Maneuver with a 20 opposed by Focus or Charm

The Tauros' eyes go as wide as dinner plates as it spots the Magnezone. The bull's... odd reaction does seem to perplex the automaton some, especially as drowsy as it is already. It moves forwards, jabbing at Larkspur with an electrified magnet-limb, as it shoots another trio of energy at the bovine, but both go wide, as excess electricity crackles up its body. Tauros hits with Sweet Kiss. Tauros is successful with Flirt. Manezone misses with Spark. It hurts itself in confusion. Magnezone misses with Tri Attack. It hurts itself in confusion.

Mica hurls her second Pokemon around the barricade to deal with the turrets and draw their attention, before stepping out herself. She's unsure entirely of how the targeting works, but is hopeful that this plan is a good one. Apex beats his chest in challenge and charges down the nearer of the two turrets, slashing wildly with his claws. Mjk2CGYJ1d20 Fury Swipes Vs. North Turret 1d8

The Vigoroth is, unfortunately, a little bit off-balance, not used to non-biological targets, and thus does little more than scratch the metal of the turrets. Unfortunately, this leaves him at point blank range to one, as both swivel towards Apex. The closest one unloads a massive charge into him, but, even with the stunning resulting from that, he's able to nimbly leap aside from the second one's zap, the charge dissipating harmlessly as it splats against the wall. Apex takes -2 Speed CS. A critical hit! (Not that it matters.) The Turret misses Apex.

Donovan scrambles from behind his pillar over to where Mica just was, taking cover from the turrets before yelling out to Larkspur " Alright buddy, head on over here, but slow that thing down in the meantime!" The Tauros turns tails and begins to run away, but before it goes it kicks out with its rear hooves at one of the magnets. Once the sound of metal being struck is heard, the Tauros is gone, making his way almost all the way to his trainer before hunkering down, keeping between Donovan and the Magnezone. Donovan looks over at Mica and then down past the pillar, right at the turrets " Now what?" Donovan sprints behind the next pillar.
