" Our mission is the same either way." Thoron said afterwards, having hastily reconsidered his original comment. When his gaze landed on the pile of cats, he warned, " But be careful. The small ones can be, especially vicious." ...although unlike the big ones, they were also crafty and deceptive. The little demons. With all of them taking an advance position, Thoron deployed Aias far enough ahead to respond against either of the nearby mobs. Thoron to O25 Aias to N19

Blake practically skips ahead towards the imminent danger. He might be overconfident but surely nothing bad could possibly happen on his first real combat encounter, right? "Radiant be sure to watch those letters darling. They might choose to act up." Small encouragement given he focuses his attention to the swarm of snakes in front of him. They looked right flustered if Blake had to say. Plus their scales clashed an awful yellow and purple. Still, he blows a small kiss at one of the larger one. Shift- Moves to K20

Less brazen, or at least more cautious than the human near it, Aias swooped in close to attack the same group of now-distracted serpents. That would teach them to fall for a human trick! Thoron was leerier still, of all the Pokemon surrounding their target. In particular, that huge one in the center looked like trouble... For now, though, Thoron gave a cautionary word to his bird and then addressed the Pokemon beside him, " Aegis. Keep your distance for now. Wait for further instruction." Honchkrow shifts to K15 and uses Wing Attack on Ekans swarm. AC2 - bE_Uoa2G1d20+1 DB8 - 2d8+35 Physical Flying damage

Aegis does hold, waiting, even as the other Pokémon begin to encroach. Aias flies ahead and manages to injure some of the snakes, but there's yet more where they are, even if Blake seems to confuse them a bit. It doesn't stop them from piercing at Aias with poison-tipped tails, however, scoring many hits, even if they do trip over themselves a little. The cats, too, advance on Aias, mewling adorably. It's enough to melt anyone's heart... how could anyone want to hurt such lovely little things? The letters all begin to head forwards, with the nearest ones beginning to glow and emit energy over Gus and Radiant... but, thankfully, not seeming to have any immediate effect. The Jellyfish just cheerfully bobs in place, before waving its tentacles and emitting a rainbow sheen that seems to cover all the enemy Pokémon momentarily, before fading. The colossus seems to take a much more active approach, implacably striding past it, head brushing the roof, its body seeming to become more and more metallic with every step. Aegis Delays to initiative 1. Ekans' are hit by wing attack. Ekans' are confused. Aias takes 43 damage from Poison Tail, and is Poisoned. A critical hit! Ekans' hurt themselves in their confusion. Aias is Infatuated with the Skitty from Attract. Unown Swarm 1 misses. The Jellyfish uses Reflect. Golurk uses Iron Defense. Map

Silas moves forward, making sure his healing and disabling items are at hand. He can't make it to Aias, and getting between Aegis and the enemy seems like a Bad Idea. Meanwhile, Gus strafes around the enemy that just attacked him. It's going to take many hits to bring this one down. He swipes at the nearest letters, building momentum. Silas to K21 Gus Disengage to J21 Gus uses Fury Cutter! AC 3: 8 DB 6: 38

It was well that Blake had warned Radiant to watch the flailing letters. He'd hardly spoken before they'd acted up and had tried to attack both Gus and her. Well that was something that she could not stand. A font of bubbles erupts from her maw, intent on putting those uppity letters in their place. Bubblebeam vs Adjacent Unknown

Gus and Radiant together manage to swat down several of the letters, thinning the swarm of them - though there are still more than enough left to cause damage. As if to punctuate that, the snakes stab once more at Aias, tearing into him viciously, seeming to get their act together, while the other groups of Pokémon start to encroach on the group. Aegis just watches carefully, waiting for instruction. Gus hits with Fury Cutter. Radiant hits with Bubblebeam. The Swarm is reduced by 1. Aias takes 39 damage and an injury from Poison Tail. A critical hit! Ekans' snap out of confusion.

The way things were going, containing the situation alone seemed somewhat unlikely. Aias was taking an unexpectedly fierce battering and the other Pokemon were close by... If only they had a large-mawed Pokemon to hurl rocks at the group. In any case, Thoron once again addressed the metal giant, " Hrm. Aegis, our target is the metal sheet near the group of Ekans. Approach it, but mind the giant nearby. The smaller Pokemon are in the way, ignore them." Meanwhile, Aias was very much fed up with these snakes and cats and... Suspicious letters who were ignoring the natural order of things, and after a cautious swipe at the Ekans he hurried to get some distance. Aias uses Feint Attack on Ekans swarm. Thoron's words reminded Blake of the mission they were actually trying to do. Stop all of the rouge mon from coming in. Not necessarily to stop all of these that were already here. And the area around the slab looked incredibly crowded right now. Still, their flanks need protecting too. He slides in between Radiant and Gus, and delivers a precise strike into the swirling mass. Whatever they were trying to tell was lost upon him. Blake uses Aerial Ace on Unknown 1

At Thoron's words, Aegis pulls its legs up from the ground, and then speeds forwards, towards the slab, not so much ignoring the smaller cats swarming around Aias as scattering them. Aias itself manages to cause several serpents to stop moving as fast, but there are yet more there. Best to beat a... tactical relocation. Blake hits a few of the letters, and they seem to falter... the jolt of energy they shoot at him in retaliation not even coming close. The cats try and retaliate at Aegis, but really only manage to succeed at pushing the levitating disc away a few meters, by sheer numbers and the fact that it's floating. The letters that dart up to him do a better job, their energy seeming to cause the Metagross to flinch marginally more. The snakes return to jabbing at Aias, even as he retreats, thought they seem to be less vicious this time, more focused on the pursuit. The letters nearest him also swarm towards him, unleashing a burst of energy. The bird jinks out of the way, but the snakes aren't so lucky, several writhing in pain as they fall limp, dissipating. Once more, the jellyfish doesn't really move at all, just wriggling its tentacles cheerfully and sending out a pulse of rainbow energy to cover the foes. The colossus strides forwards a little, electing to fire a blast of shadowy energy at the spider, rather than wade into the fray proper. This hit seems to actually do a fair bit of damage, thought Cain's Pokémon endures it mostly stoically. Aegis uses Magnet Rise. Aegis uses Hammer Arm. The Skittys' Swarm falls by 1. Aegis' speed drops by 1 CS. Aias hits with Feint Attack (obviously), and takes a tick of damage from Poison. U1 misses with Struggle. Aias takes 21 damage from Poison Tail. Aegis is pushed 2m from Tackle. U2 misses Aias with Hidden Power, the Ekans' swarm falls by 1. U3 hit Aegis with Hidden Power. The Jellyfish uses Light Screen. Golurk hits Aegis with Shadow Punch. It's super effective!

The situation to their flank was...handled for the moment. Blake catches Radiant's eye and then gestures towards the behemoth that had begun to rain pain upon Aegis. Radiant wastes no time, shrugging off what little damage the swarm of letters can throw at her. Her gait stops just before the giant and the swarms of smaller mon. Much like before a swarm of bubbles spews from her beak but unlike before, she pirouettes. Bubbles float about everywhere, bursting upon the the giant's armor and floating among the piles of pokemon Radiant shifts to M17

Gus's attacks build in strength as he learns the swarm's patterns. Each swipe is cleanly aimed at one of the letters, and he shows no sign of slowing down yet. Meanwhile, Silas is having some... difficulties. Paralyzing the third swarm to allow Aegis to speed away was a good idea. However, a terrible throw combined with the swarm's unpredictable movements result in the ball falling ineffectually to the floor. Gus uses Fury Cutter on U1 AC 3: 19 DB 10: 43 Physical Bug

Aegis was performing admirably, as expected. Thoron's own Pokemon was... looking quite a bit worse for wear. Those vermin weren't helping either matter, but there wasn't much to be done from back here. Actually, there just wasn't much he could do at the moment. So he strode up closer to the strange Pokemon swarming Aegis and studied them carefully. They were incomprehensible and a touch disorienting, as Silas had shown, but perhaps he could confuse them just as much. Or at least draw their attention with a pesterball? Thoron moves to N22 and throws a Confusion Pesterball at Unown Swarm 3. AC6 - N0ci|VS31d20 Status

While Silas' aim is off, Thoron manages to lob a ball in amongst one of the clouds of letters, which is momentarily engulfed in a cloud of disorienting gasses - causing the almost-words being formed by the letters to seem to be more jumbled. Gus manages to cut through the last of the first swarm with precise movements, but that still doesn't seem to slow down the other swarms darting around, repositioning. Radiant fares just as well, with the bubbles causing the clowder of cats to dissipate - though the rainbow light flares once more around the giant, seeming to pop many bubbles before they reach it. The way to the chunk of wall looks a lot more open now... but the side of it, where it was disgorging snakes before, has begun glowing again. And, materializing from out of the light that briefly flashes, a two-toned (and two-headed) dragon now stands behind the snakes, looking around the room. Silas Misses with his pester ball. Thoron hits. U3 is now Confused. U1 Faints from Fury Cutter. Skittys Faint from Bubble. Golurk is hit by Bubble. Golurk triggers Light Screen. U2 and U3 disengage.

Excellent. The swarm of letters was down! Blake manages to turn in time for the last of the cats to fall as well. But there were still more Pokemon clambering around the room. Well, standing around wouldn't get them any closer to closing that portal. "Good work on those pests,...err...mushroom," he sputters to the Parasect before dashing off. His stride takes him near both the snakes and the Radiant. He calls some small encouragement to the Empoleon in passing, "Excellent job. Try and keep this big guy busy for a while longer." The bird nods in agreement, eyeing down the giant. Skidding to a stop just past the wall, Blake challenges the floating Jellyfish that seemed to be protecting the giant. "Those colors are a ghastly combination. Any two might be passable but all together they create an insult to the eyes." Hopefully the jellyfish would take the bait Blake Shift to M14

Aias had had better days. Between those cats, snakes and miscellaneous other trespassers, he was pretty well on his last leg. With a final, displeased squawk of war the bird made a final pass, this time at the jumble of letters floating closer. Aias uses Rally (Swift) and attacks Unown swarm 2 with Assurance. Before fading away into energy, Aias is at least able to take down several of the letters, though the swarm still... swarms. With his absence, the snakes and letters that he was holding back move to engage Silas. The medic finds himself being stung by toxic tails, and also bathed in energy that feels cold to his core - though the latter seems to have cleared out the last of the snakes. The Jellyfish that Blake taunted burbles irritably at him, before drifting over, and beginning to glow very bright... only to release several streams of electricity from its body. One jumps into the adjacent giant but it doesn't even seem to notice. The other, however, goes straight into Blake, setting juddering jolts through his system. Thankfully, Radiant at least seems to be able to dodge the giant's attack, since it seems like it would very much hurt to get hit by that fist. Aegis delays until Initiative 1. Aias hits U2, and takes and injury and faints from Poison. Blake hits with Taunt. Jellyfish becomes Enraged. Silas takes 26 damage from Poison Tail. Silas takes 17 damage from Hidden Power. Ekans Faint from Hidden Power. Blake takes 48 damage from Discharge. Golurk misses with Dynamic Punch.

Silas endures the attacks coming his way, narrowly escaping injury. He ineffectually throws another pesterball at the dragon, then carefully backs away from the swarm. At least he's well positioned to heal any injured allies? Aside from Blake, but that's his own fault for charging so far forward. Meanwhile, Gus attempts to replicate his success against the first swarm. Unfortunately, this swarm's patterns are different enough to throw him off, and the strikes miss their targets. Silas throws a Sleep Pesterball at the Dragon AC 6: 2
Silas disengage to L18.
Gus to J20 Gus uses Fury Cutter on U2 AC 2: 2

Despite her size, Radiant is graceful enough to doge the giant's attack. She jerks as the jelly's electricity courses through Blake, causing the young man to cry out. He waves her off. From a documentary perspective, there was quite a lot for one Technician to take in. But, from a practical perspective, there was a direct tap to an unknown number of hostiles. Blake wouldn't have taken the initiative if he couldn't handle it, so he would focus on the other side of the slab... Or, focus Lowe there. Mindful of the swarm ahead and to the left, Thoron released his original Pokemon ahead of it. No sooner had Lowe materialized, than was he instructed to deal with the dragon ahead. Thoron moves to K(or L)21 (depending on obstructions) and switches Aias for Lowe (Luxio). New position: I16 Luxio initiative is 15
Thoron binds Capricious Whirl to Lowe.
