"Oh, undoubtedly." Kelly says, giving a cold smile as he leaves. "Remember me if you ever need more questions answered."
Outside, Lillian just stares at him. "You... did that for me? But you don't even know me! And you don't know what that ice-hearted witch is going to make you do! That was so...selfless of you." She walks over and hugs him, eyes a little wet, before quickly letting go.
"Yeah, of course we can go training," she says, a smile on her pink-tinged face. "It'll be chill to cast eyes on what you guys can really do."

Braxton was slightly taken aback by Lillian. He did not quite know how to react and managed to stammer out, "I... I gave you my word. I intend to keep it. Whatever the cost, I will fight to get back what was stolen from you so that you might find your brother again."
All the same, a chill ran down his spine. This green-haired woman had left a mark. Almost immediately, Braxton's mind began running. He contemplated every instance that he might be able to use the imposed condition to refuse the task that may be put before him. The application of the words directly or indirectly placed a huge burden on the one asking of the favour to establish that no harm would be evoked on any person connected to Braxton.
Lillian, we now know the potential weaknesses of these Snakebites. We know their numbers, and we know where to target them. With a bit more strength, I believe that we can take them down, and not in too long a time.
As Braxton headed out the city, he kept a sharp eye. If he were to notice anybody that might seem knowledgeable in any individual member of the gang, or anybody who might know any gang members' schedule, he would make note of the knowledge, and be willing to pay for it.
Upon leaving the city, Braxton headed north east, towards the desert-area that he noticed on the map, looking for any wild Pokemon, or fellow trainer that he might test his skills against.

"I... Um... Thank you," she says, stumbling over her words. "But I wish we didn't have to hurt anyone..." She gives a small smile. "Ah, bro would give me a talking to, and say to stop being such a softie."
On the way out, you don't notice anyone who would seem knowledgeable - or, really, anyone period. The town's livelihood seems to be inextricably tie to the welfare of the spring.
Looking down the mountain, you can see that the desert's still at least a couple day's travel away. But at least there's a nice field with tall grass to your left. A drying up lake lies to your right, and a bit further down the mountain is a forested area.

Braxton began walking out of the city. When he reached the outskirts, he decided to release Ruairidh from his ball. "Welcome to the field friend. Our current objective is to find an opponent. Based on yesterday, it would appear that we should be on the lookout for general combat training. This will be an exercise for the both of us, so we will both be looking out. Let's make it a challenge, who sees something interesting first.Braxton began leading the three of them towards the forested area, while Ruairidh kept an eye out. Lillian, I wish we did not have to hurt anybody either. However, unfortunately, with people like this, we are not at liberty to play 'fairly' as we might wish. These people have harmed me and you, and as such they deserve reciprocation. If harm is avoidable, I would rather stick to that path; however, given our experience with these scoundrels, I think you would agree that it is very unlikely that we would come together without conflict, else they would have handed over your pendant at the first instance. If Braxton encounters another pokemon, he will immediately release Blaine from the pokeball to join the fight.

Going deeper into the wooded area in search of Pokémon, the group comes across a blue bird with fluffy cotton wings, trilling in a tree. "Awww... That's just darling."But wait... Braxton notices something. That isn't a tree that the Swablu is sitting on. "That tree just moved!" The Swablu seems to notice it too, and flutters a little into the air, before going back down. It was just a little shift, but enough to tell you that there's not one, but two Pokémon here. Map Linky

Braxton glanced over at Lillian, "Careful, this could get interesting.
Ready Ruairidh, hold your position. Blaire, as we practiced yesterday. Keep a steady gaze, and concentrate. Leave the tree to see its reaction, target the flying opponent." focused training Braxton dropped to a low stance and ran out in front of Ruairidh, leaving a gap at his right flank between him and where Blaire had moved to meet him. Blaire's gaze steeled and she took aim at the fluttering bird. With a guttural sound, a beam of water erupted from Blaire's mouth towards the Swablu. AC=18 Damage=28

The Swablu takes the burst of water straight to the beak, and flutters backwards off the Sudowoodo with the force of it, but doesn't appear to be too fazed. The rock-tree, on the other hand, does not appear to like having water anywhere near it, and it responds - with a burst of water all of it's own. All it does is seem to refresh Blaire, though. With that, the tree mimic goes and glares at you from behind - what is as far as you can tell - an actual tree. Map Re-linkInitiative: Ruairidh Swablu Blaire Braxton Sudowoodo

Maintain pressure, cut off escapes.
"Ruairidh, looks like our friend here is trying to target us at a range, let's bridge that gap. I'll cover him, maintain pressure on the flying target. Do not let it escape."Ruairidh sprinted forward, pivoting and shooting out from behind Braxton to come adjacent to the Swablu, leaving a clear line of sight for another water gun if need be. A familiar glow appeared around his hands as he struck out towards the Swablu. Braxton followed suit and dashed forward, coming adjacent to the tree-like pokemon. "Stay on your feet Ruairidh, anticipate their moves and be ready to come assist me here if necessary." Mobilise. Hold priority initiative to act on Braxton's turn. Swift action because of Commander's Voice Staring down the Sudowoodo, Braxton concentrated on his training. The trick when trying to break something is to punch through it, hit the space behind it, or you will instinctively slow down before you hit the target and will have less impact. As Braxton's fist flew out toward the tree, he targeted the space just behind the pokemon's torso to ensure full impact. Ruairidh used Force Palm: AC 2: 18 (paralysing on 18+) Damage 30 Braxton used Rock Smash: AC 2: 5 Damage 26

Ruairidh's hands strike the bird with such force, it begins to shudder and dip, but it levels out, before beginning a sad melody. Ruairidh slumps to the ground, visibly drained and beginning to slumber. The Swablu lets out a happier trill at that, which is echoed - kind of - by Lillian. "Aw... it reminds me of when bro and I would do this when we stopped off in Verdant Ridge. Just sit in the woods there and try whistling to birds.Meanwhile, Braxton's fist encounters a surface much harder than he thought. Rather than breaking, his hand jars against its hard surface. Ouch. For his trouble, he gets a sharp blow that seems to imitate what he was trying to do. Ouch, that seemingly wood exterior really is hard as rock. Swablu passes it's Paralysis roll. Riolu falls Asleep, and takes a -2 CS penalty to Attack and Special Attack. Sudowoodo uses Rock Smash, and deals 18 damage to Braxton. (Def taken into account.)

Braxton noticed his friend noticeably slump in place. He kept his gaze on the pokemon in front of him, wary of any sudden moves it might make. He could feel the bruise from his hit begin firming. "Blaire! Cover me for a second. He didn't seem to enjoy the water last time, how about we try again?"
With that, Braxton spun and ducked to get on Ruairidh's level. Gently shaking him, Braxton lightly pinched the back of his paw, "Come on Ruairidh, wake up."
Standard Action used to wake Ruairidh
Meanwhile, Blaire ran forward into range of the rock - type and let forth another stream of water.

The Swablu begins chattering again, alighting in a tree, but then flutters towards Lillian and her bag of trail mix that she's eating out of. "Awww... Aren't you sweet... Sure you can have some."Blaire's attack hits the Sudowoodo straight on, and it seems to shudder, but there's clearly a lot of fight left in it. Braxton reaches over and wakes his sleeping partner, but the irritated tree flails about as he does so. And it hurts. "A...are you all spiff, Braxton?" comes the concerned call. Braxton takes 24 Damage.

As the cotton-feathered bird flew past Blaire, Braxton shouted, "Now!" "Maaarsh!" Blaire roared and swung out at the passing Swablu, attempting to land a blow as it passed. Braxton gritted his teeth. A rock hitting you square in the shoulder like that? Ya. That. Hurts. "Ruairidh, welcome back. Give us a hand here?"Ruairidh sprinted around Braxton's left side to try and back the Sudowoodo into the tree. Again, he focussed and thrust out with the heel of his palm, a deep glow emanating from his eyes and the white bumps on the back of his paws as the power of his aura transferred power through his strike. IF THE FORCE PALM DEFEATS SUDOWOODO Braxton saw the false-tree go down, and immediately sprinted over to the Swablu. I think this could be a useful companion. The ability to put opponents to sleep could greatly help the infiltration of the snakebites. In his focus he came up to the Swablu and unleashed a series of forearm strikes, as he had attempted on the leader of the gang the previous day. The strikes rained down upon the tiny creature, with Braxton pulling up at the last moment, realising that it may have gone too hard on the creature, and worried that it may harm it too greatly. IF THE FORCE PALM DOES NOT DEFEAT SUDOWOODO Braxton instinctively swung around with a left-handed forearm strike to the creature. He gritted his teeth as he felt his bones connect with essentially pure rock, but he endured the pain and continued hitting. He was hurt, and if this fight did not swing in his favour, he could end up going down again, which he would not allow. A fire lit in his eyes as he swung each consecutive attack, using the momentum from the previous to fuel the next. Struggle AC 4: 6-- Damage: 19 Force Palm AC 2 (19) (paralyses on 18)-- Damage: 35 Arm Thrust AC 4 (12)-- Damage: 93 (wow)

Blaire's hasty attack misses the swooping bird, who jabbers back irritably. Ruairidh has a much better time, though (it does help when your opponent moves like a rock...) and smashes his palm into the Sudowoodo, cracking it. A little. Braxton, however, follows up into the cracked area, unbalancing the tree-mimic, and causing it to fall backwards with a heavy crash, twitching. It's not getting up anytime soon, that's for sure... "Wow, that was something else!" exclaims Lilian, who has the cotton bird in her arms. "Looks like this cute fellow likes the center chow," she says smiling. " If we're going to be doing stuff like this, then maybe you could... ah, teach me how to be a Trainer? Because that was pretty spiff what you were doing out there. Even if I might shy away from the, ah, whole 'punching rocks' part. Are you all dandy, by the way?"You gain 60 EXP to split amongst your Pokémon, standard rules.

Braxton sank to the ground slowly to stretch before his muscles began to seize. "Many thanks friend, you put up a good fight..." He painfully rolled his shoulder, he probably strained the muscles. Need to watch my arm-torso angles with those arm thrusts. I am only lucky this was not more serious.
Braxton turned to Lillian and smiled, "Well you seem to have made a friend over there. I will be honest, I do not have a ton of experience as a 'trainer,' but I can help you stumble along and get stronger. He laughed, "Getting up close and personal is probably not the way most people go about these things if I'm honest, but I had to fend for myself for years before Ruairidh, Blaire, and I met. Old habits die hard, plus hey, you'll never be out of shape.
As to helping you, what I have always found is that it is best for your relationship if you try to foster a friendship with your pokemon before putting them in a ball. It is obviously not always possible, so most people do not do it this way. I will leave it up to you how you want to proceed. I have two pokeballs left, and I would be willing to share one with you for your first pokemon. If you want to try and put the pokemon in it now, or in a week, it's up to you really." Braxton handed her one of his remaining pokeballs, "Don't lose it, you don't know how much work it can be to get one.
I think we need to rest for a little bit before we get into any proper training though, don't you think? What do you say we break for lunch?
As to how I am, I have seen better days, but it's what you get for going head to head with a pokemon like that. It was a good fight, but I think I could use a sit down."

"Wow, thanks!" Lillian says at the gift, handling it gingerly. "Are...are you sure you don't want to keep it for yourself, though? You said you only have two... what if you need a second one?"
"And you guys look like you could use a bit of a chill... but that wasn't 'proper training'? That was just a warmup, or some shindig like that?" She seems a bit incredulous. "Oh, uh, also, we might want to make ourselves scarce before that Sudo wakes up. I get the feeling it won't be very happy. I remember seeing a lake a little ways yonder. Do you feel like heading there to eat, maybe go for a swim?"

Braxton began to walk with her, still catching his breath as they headed towards the lake. "Aye, some water would be good, especially for Blaire. It's been a while since she did any in-water training." He laughed, "I suppose you could consider that real training, or an aspect of it at least. Sparring with an opponent will always help you improve, of course. However, if you constantly just fight opponents, and shirk your individual skill development, you will tend to fall into patterns and become predictable. Also, you will notice that certain skills that are useful in combat but are not frequently used become less precise, sloppier. I try and do skills and wellness training every day with these guys. That way, even little used skills will be available when you need them, and you can improve skills that are not yet combat-worthy.
As to the ball, aye, keep it. When you get to a position where you can afford to give one on to somebody else who is looking at partnering with a pokémon, but doesn't necessarily have the coin to do it, pass the favour on. It is so easy to forget how inaccessible this world is to people who do not have an abundance of money."
As Braxton walked, he smiled down to Ruairidh and Blaire, "By the way guys, great fight over there. Effective placement and support left you guys scot free! Blaire, fantastic work with the water guns. Imagine what you'll be able to do when you pay a bit more attention during accuracy training eh?" Braxton winked, "And Ruairidh, very well done with those force palms, I think you rocked both of them to the core." Looking behind him, Braxton saw the Swablu still struggling to keep itself moving. He felt a little bad.

"Ah, sorry," Lillian says, after his training speech, "I think I kinda lost your thread of thought there... So, what I was able to yank from it was, just keep on practicing what you want to get better at? Sounds simple as falling off a log. But that probably means it'll be a mite difficult, then. I look forwards to it."
"Don't you worry," she says, grinning, "I'll make sure to pass on the kindness. I love seeing the look on people's faces when they receive good fortune. Feels spiffy."
The Swablu, still being carried along, is taking occasional wary glances at Blaire, but seems to just be content to preen and snuggle up. Already it's looking better, its natural healing kicking in.
After a few minutes of quiet forest, broken only by the trilling of the Swablu, and Lillian's passable attempts at mimicking it, the group reaches the lake. It still looks clear and fresh, although, judging by the landscape, it is usually much larger. There's no one around, nor any wild Pokémon that you can see, save for a few lonely and (abnormally) pathetic looking Magikarp. "It's sad to see this lake like this. I'm sure that if there was more water, there'd be more wild Pokémon." She brightens up, though. "It does still look nice, though. Now, I'm just going to go behind those bushes over there to change. No peeking!" she teases.

Braxton smiled softly, "Sorry, I know it can be a lot to take in at once. All I am saying is always make sure you practice all your pokémon's skills, otherwise you will be doing it no favours in the long run. I am glad to hear that, it is always good to see the look on somebody's face when they've found a new friend." Braxton looked over at the smiling girl as she held her new Swablu,"So what are you going to name it?"
Upon reaching the lake, Braxton frowned slightly, "I imagine it was once much more lively than this. I had half a mind to try fishing here, but it would seem that anything you were like to catch would, you'd be as likely to catch it with your hands."
Braxton walked over to a tree opposite where she was hiding and turned his back, "I wouldn't dream of it, do not worry." If one were to look, one might notice Braxton's ears turning slightly red.
"Riooo""Marsh!" A loud SPLASH could be heard as Blaire jumped into the water and began to wade around. Ruairidh was decidedly sticking to the outskirs of the water, but had been splashed by Blaire, and did not look pleased.

"Uh... I haven't actually thought about it much. Hmmm... I think he looks like a Cyrus." The Swablu seems to respond to that, at least.
When she comes back from changing, Braxton sees that Lillian's wearing a blue one-piece bathing suit. Tossing her bag down on the ground, she starts running for the lake, and tosses Cyrus into the air. The Swablu seems to be surprised by this, but swiftly levels out and begins circling above the water. "Jump on in, Braxton," she calls, "the water's dandy!"

"Cyrus? Sounds like a good name." Braxton walked over to the water's edge and sat down. He kicked off his shoes, and dipped his feet in the water. "You go ahead. I didn't bring swimming gear, I'll just watch. Give Blaire a run for her money alright?"Ruairidh tried to shake himself off, and he walked over to Braxton, sitting beside him letting his feet dangle over the edge of the water, not quite making the surface of it. Braxton reached over and patted his head. He mumbled over, "Now that we have another pokemon fighting with us, it could be that tomorrow is the best time to strike at the gang. I won't tell her that just yet though. Don't want her to feel too pressured when she first learns how to command a pokemon;" Braxton stretched painfully, " "though I think we'll have to do something about this muscle when we get back, so I won't be as much a help as I would like." He stared into the water for a moment. Braxton will also be on the lookout for anything of note at the bottom of the lake: pokemon, items, etc
