"No, there aren't any other facilities capable of reviving fossils, to my knowledge."
On his way to Asa, Justin finds a Lansat Berry.

Asa pocketed the disk as she looked back and waited for Justin at the precinct doors. Once he had caught up, she opened the doors and stepped in. Pausing once inside, she took in the immediate area and looked for an officer.

The building and its layout is almost exactly that of the station in Tumbleweed. A male officer sits at a desk, ready to field any questions from the public.

Asa stepped forward toward the officer and bowed slightly. "Excuse me officer. I've just crossed the desert and wanted to ensure that you were aware of events that occurred outside Tumbleweed Town on Route 1. Did Officer Jenny send out a report or BOLO yet?"

"I assume you're talking about the children who were recovered and the criminals dressed in black? Yes, we've received a copy of her report. We're looking into it."

Asa gave a sigh of relief. "That is good." She motioned to Justin and then back to herself with a smile. "As Junior Deputies, let us know if there's anything we can assist with."
She turned to Justin. "Seems like Officer Jenny got everything sorted so the other cities has been informed about our escaped criminals."

The officer actually looks up this time, looking the two of you up and down. He picks up a piece of paper nearby and looks at it for a moment before glancing back at the two of you.
"You are Asa? And you are either Justin or Bo? Sorry, you don't look like I expected you to. Well, if you aren't busy working on a case, I actually have an assignment that you could take lead on, if you want."

"Oh... of course. That's Justin. Bo's in town, just settling in." Asa smiled and glanced back at Justin. She had plenty of time since her fossils wouldn't be revived until the next morning.

"Bo is like fourteen," Justin said, confused at how they could be confused. "But yes, we'll look into whatever trouble you're having." He volunteered them freely, just assuming the others wouldn't have any complaints. "First though, we just wanted to make sure you know those kidnappers were after some kind of fossil. I'm concerned that the lab here in town might be a target."

"Right," the officer says, putting on a pair of glasses and looking at the paper one more time. "You're Justin. So the kidnappers had a secondary motive. It's mentioned somewhat in the report. Right now we have a couple of officers keeping an eye on the facility here in town, but we don't want to make it too obvious. Okay. The assignment. If you think you can be of help, we have a family in town whose house was recently robbed. The burglars trashed the place, too. But that isn't the worst part. This family owned an Absol. The Absol was brutally attacked, and its horn was broken away from its head. Absol horns are incredibly valuable on the black market, and are widely believed to ward off disaster. The maimed Absols, however, become fundamentally unbalanced, going on feral sprees of violence, and that's what happened with this one as well. The poor thing went tearing out of town early this morning, headed east toward Route 03. Here," he says, handing over three laminates on lanyards with an image of a badge on them. "These will mark you as actual deputies. Head to the house near the Pokémon Center and look for Hickory's Jenny. She should be on the scene, still. Good luck to you."

Asa accepted the lanyard. It felt a bit more official than simply watching a video. She hung hers around her neck before speaking to Justin. "Do you want to send Bo a message so he can meet up with us at the house? We should probably take his badge too."

A lanyard? Oh, that was so tacky. Justin took it anyway, slipping the badge and lanyard together into the inner breast pocket of his coat. He figured that that way if he needed it, he could flash it like detectives did in cop shows. He took Bo's badge as well, as Asa suggested, putting it in his bag, and shot the third member of their group a message with his Pokedex, informing him of their destination. "We'll see what we can do," Justin told the policeman. He wasn't sure he'd be able to help the Absol, damaged as it was, but he would certainly try. "After you," he said to Asa, indicating the door.

Asa turned on her heels at Justin's motion and headed outside, moving toward the home that the officer had indicated they might find Jenny. She couldn't help but wonder what type of person would think of harvesting a horn from an Absol, just to sell it. There were surely easier ways to make money. Then again, the researcher had made it sound like no one had the means to purchase the fossils they were selling either. Perhaps the economy here was struggling. Asa made a mental note to investigate that later.

As expected, Officer Jenny shows up as Asa and Justin near the house to stop them from coming any closer. "No civilians beyond this point! This is a crime scene!"
But when credentials are shown, she apologizes and allows entry. "We're still looking the place over for clues at the moment. Feel free to do the same, but try not to disturb the scene."

Asa walked along carefully, minding the placement of her healed boots. She wondered if there was any connection between the horn and general trashing of the place. An attack was normally focused, unless they were searching for something else in addition to the horn. She tried to recall any information that might connect an Absol to other items as she looked for clues. She also wondered if the Absol could sense it's missing horn and might have run toward Route 3 chasing the thieves, instead of out of confused violence. The interior of the home is trashed. Several pieces of furniture, like tables and a sofa, have been destroyed in a way that indicates some pretty major strength. There are several holes that look like they were punched into the wall, but the holes are about the size of a child's fist.
More skills checks may reveal additional info.

Asa bent down to inspect the holes in the wall. "Hey Justin, weren't the Machops we faced about this tall? As a Dark type, Absol would also be an easy target for them." She recalled their powerful striking ability in a small frame. "Rare fossil and rare horn. I feel like this could be the same group." The height and shape is a strong match for a Machop's punching fist. The trail of destruction tells a story. It looks like the front door was knocked open and the intruders entered. The Absol, guarding the empty home, sprang to its defense. A scuffle ensued and lots of things were broken. The Absol was soundly defeated and then its horn was removed. With time on their hands, the intruders then seem to have systematically punched their way toward the back of the home, where about three-quarters of the way through it all suddenly stops at a very large hole high in the wall. A single nail still in the wall above the hole suggests that a painting once hung in that spot.

"I did have the same thought," Justin said, strolling through the crime scene the same way he had explored the museum, "but I think we should be careful about assuming one group is responsible for all the crimes in the region. I don't know about you, but I didn't check the crime rate before coming here." He made the joke with a smile as he considered the damage to the home. If they were here because the Absol horn was valuable, then they'd probably have taken other high priced objects too. If not... "See if you can find a hidden wall safe. That's the only reason I can think of for punching the walls."

Near as Justin can figure, the theft of the Absol's horn was just a crime of opportunity. The thieves were really here to find something specific, and it looks like they found it in that big, square hole. Did they take the entire wall safe with them? What was inside it? Looks like the Absol woke up sometime after everyone was gone and began it fit out of town. Whether it was purely random or in pursuit of the criminals is still unclear.
