The Relief that Bo felt when they entered the Route hut with immense. While there was still heat, at least in here the sun was not beating down, and there was no blinding sun off the sand. he took some time to clean the sand from his shoes, that had sneaked in around his feet, as the others spoke to the guard. The building was up quick? Certainly all the more odd and worth coming back to sometime...when they had a Pokemon that could protect them from bullets, or enter the building in a more stealthy manner from another angle. I mean, what was a little breaking and entering? As Asa seemed to be eager to head for the lab, he admitted that he was more than a little intrigued at the things that might go on there as well. He had heard about Fossil reanimation from some of his father's colleagues, but never really looked at it himself. Actually...thinking about it, he had seen Asa pull something up from the pond when she had went diving before. Had she actually managed to pull up a fossil? That would be a hell of an lucky break for her. He would certainly have to see it. But now, seeing as they were at the nice rest house.... "I think I'm going to take a short rest here, and then go back into the desert area in sight of the rest house. Was hoping to see at least a bit of the Pokemon that make their home there. I suppose I'll catch you at the lab, or the center later this afternoon if you are not there Asa." He said, as he finished wiping the sweat from his brow. Taking in a deep breath, he headed back for the door, and made his way out. Using his luck roll to search the route for an item, and then using Daily Event 1/3 for Pokemon Searching.

Asa continued down the city streets, making her way toward the fossil lab. She could take in the sights later this evening. At the rate that the group was moving, she would have at least a few days to see everything that Hickory had to offer.
The paleontologist seemed almost giddy as she bounced down walk. She had not felt this way in a long time, since working at the Cinnabar lab. She briefly pondered if this region's reanimation technology was similar to the system on Cinnabar. Maybe they have even more fossils at the lab itself! She mused excitedly.

Asa reaches the Fossil Lab. It's a pleasant mix of a science laboratory and a museum. Fossils from every region are displayed in glass cases atop square stands, and the place is lit with natural light from the skylights in the ceiling. The employees all wear long, white coats. Asa actually recognizes some of the machinery lining the walls. Although the casings are a bit different, she identifies several components necessary for fossil revival machines.
"Hello," one employee says as he approaches. "Welcome to the Hickory Town Fossil Laboratory."

Asa bows to the man. "Hello. This is quite nice." She glances at a few of the fossils to see if there are any she doesn't recognize.
"Does this lab conduct revivals like Cinnabar? If so, is it available for use to the public? I was previously employed as a lab tech and am familiar with the equipment required." The young researcher tried to hide her excitement and pleading behind the veil of professionalism.

Justin accompanied Asa to the lab, curious to see what fossils she had found, and with a question or two of his own. He raised a hand in greeting to the lab worker that welcomed them, but didn't enter into the conversation. Instead, he adopted a slow pace, and began to walk through the fossil displays. His work with the professor had never ranged into this field, but it was interesting. Reading each of the plaques on the museum-style stands, he attempted to find all the fossils that were unique to the Tevorah region.

"You were a tech at the Cinnabar lab? It's a pleasure to have you visit, then. Yes, ma'am, we can revive fossils here. We charge $1,000 for revival, and we have a few specimens for sale as well for $5,000 apiece."
Justin walks around, noting the exhibits. He sees that each case holds a single fossil, and there are enough cases around the facility to account for every fossil found in the known regions, plus the three fossils that Asa has. The plaques on each case describe them as follows:
Asa's 'fire' fossil - "Flame Fossil. Native to Tevorah. Extremely rare. Only one specimen known to exist. Revived from this fossil: Unknown." Asa's 'fin' fossil - "Shade Fossil. Native to Tevorah. Extremely rare. Only one specimen known to exist. Revived from this fossil: Unknown." Asa's 'twig' fossil - "Agamid Fossil. Native to Tevorah. Extremely rare. Only one specimen known to exist. Revived from this fossil: Unknown."
Justin also sees three more fossils that Asa does not currently own. They are described as follows:
A fossil that looks kind of like a pair of eyes - "Dylus Fossil. Native to Tevorah. Extremely rare. Only two specimens known to exist. Revived from this fossil: Unknown." A fossil that looks kind of like a bundle of spikes - "Glacier Fossil. Native to Tevorah. Extremely rare. Only two specimens known to exist. Revived from this fossil: Unknown." A fossil that looks kind of like half of a snake's rattler - "Colubrid Fossil. Native to Tevorah. Extremely rare. Only two specimens known to exist. Revived from this fossil: Unknown."

Asa winced slightly as she realized she didn’t have enough money to revive all three. With a small sigh, she fished through her pack and retrieved the twig and fin fossils.
She held them for a moment as if considering the choice. She seemed to come to some decision, giving a nod and holding them both out with the money required.

Well, that's not much to go off of, Justin thought after reading the displays. How could they not know what the fossils revive into? A sudden concern caused him to step between Asa and the employee, a hand raised, before Asa could complete the transaction. "Hold on a moment," he said, his tone serious. He stood with his back to Asa, facing the man who had greeted her. "What happened to the other instances of the Dylus, Glacier, and Colubrid fossils?" He hoped the answer was more benign than his suspicion.

The scientist's eyes grow incredibly wide when he sees Asa's fossils. He wants to say something to her, but he politely lets Justin cut in and speak his piece without interrupting.
"Tevorah fossils are extremely rare," the scientist answers. "Of the six known fossils, we've only discovered a single specimen of half of them, and two specimens of the other half. When it comes to those three that we only possess one of - we can't revive the fossil because to do so would cause the fossil to disappear and then zero fossils of that type would exist. We'd have nothing to display. When it comes to those three that we possess two of," his shoulders sag, "the facility director decided that we should display one and try to sell the other. The facility isn't doing very well financially right now, and if we sold the fossil, perhaps to another region's facility or a private collector, we could make sure that we don't have to close our doors. But you, ma'am, are in possession of Tevorah fossils, and you have what may be the second instance ever to be discovered! Our director isn't here right now, thank goodness, so I would absolutely love to revive as many as you can afford. I've so longed to know what these fossils revive into."

Asa nodded in agreement and smiled. "I can't wait! I've been so excited since finding them. The idea of a discovering a completely unknown species of extinct Pokémon returned to life is a dream of mine."
For the moment, she held back that she had the third fossil. With how incredibly rare they appeared to be, it wouldn't be good to place a target on herself until she had the money for revival. She couldn't help but think back to the kids in the woods and wonder what fossil the criminals made away with. There was at least one unaccounted for, maybe even something that the lab had no idea existed.

"Well, then, please pay the $2,000 fee and leave your fossils with us," the scientist says, doing a good job holding back his own giddiness. "We'll put the machine to work right away. The fossil should be revived in about twelve hours apiece. Oh, this is quite exciting."

Asa handed him the money and both fossils. She turned toward Justin with a beaming smile afterward. "I guess all that's left is to wait!" She took a deep breath and tried to calm her nerves. "I almost feel like I should go out and look for a battle to burn off this nervous energy. Or we can stop by the Pokecenter and see what kind of events and news Hickory has to offer."
Not to mention, she could use the money from winning a battle to put toward the third fossil. They didn't need to know that though.

Justin returned Asa's smile. It was a surprising, but not unwelcome change in her demeanor. Unfortunately, "Not to put a damper on your enthusiasm," he said, "but I think we still have a couple things to talk about here." Believing the scientist to be trustworthy, Justin explained the encounter with the kidnappers and their search for fossils.
"So they definitely knew what they were looking for," he concluded. "Your lab could be a potential target. Do you know who bought the fossils you sold?"
Should we just stick with the one intuition roll for the whole conversation?

Asa bit her lip. She hadn't thought that they might come here too. Her fossils should be safe. Those two were the ones that the thugs had discarded, after all. Still, they might interrupt the revival process. Ancient DNA was finicky, to say the least.
"You do have a security system, I hope. We should definitely tell the police Justin."

Yes, the one roll should suffice. Justin has a point. However, he and Asa recall that the criminals were looking for something very specific. They found what you now know to be incredibly rare fossils and tossed them aside. The thing that they found that they were looking for was bigger than any of the fossils cased here, and it had something different-looking sticking out of the fossilized rock. "Actually, we haven't been able to sell the fossils yet," the scientist says. "We keep the three spares in storage. They are $5,000 each, and no one has been able to foot the bill yet."

Asa could barely maintain her composure. Sitting in this very spot were three! more completely unheard of fossils across all the other regions. A full team of newly discovered Pokémon. All that stopped her was... money.
Damn! She couldn't help but growl in frustration. The thought that any kid with deep pockets could walk away with one of these was unfathomable. She needed to get to work. "Well, just be on the lookout for suspicious activity. They had an Abra with them."
Turning to Justin, Asa motioned to leave. "We should really go tell the police in case Officer Jenny forgot to put out a BOLO."
Action On her way to the station, Asa will use her luck roll for Hickory City.

"Do you know if there are any other facilities that can revive fossils in the region?" Justin asked the paleontologist. He figured there must be if they were selling fossils and revival separately. The kidnappers must have revived fossils to know which dormant one they needed.
Justin thanked the man after he answered, wished him luck, and went with Asa to the police station.
He will also use his free town loot search
