Mica switches on her flashlight, and lets Morganite out of his ball. "We're gonna do some night exploring! Come on Donovan, we can find the high ground and get up to watch the sunrise. Spot would probably really enjoy that, I read that Ledyba are real morning Pokemon. You too Morganite, let's go find some Pokemon!" Mica went scrambling up the rocks, but made sure to stay clear of the fence.

Donovan begins to move towards the fence before Mica moves up the rocks and he follows after her. "Wait get up with the sunrise?" He says playfully "So just because you've got to become more disciplined, I have to as well?" Nevermind that he would have already been up to start getting their breakfast ready and to take care of his Oran Plant.
He pulls out his own flashlight just in case and clumsily climbs the rocks as well, holding the flashlight in his mouth as he struggles to make it up the rocky surface.

Making their way to the pile of rocks, it at first seems a little bit lifeless. Clearly, a lot of stuff is likely sleeping at this time. But, all of a sudden there's a bit of a darting movement, which freezes as it's caught in the pair's swing flashlights. Donovan recognizes it quite well, and Mica does too after a little bit of realization. It's the form that Mica takes in the Temples, though it seems to be a little bit of a darker colouration. Or maybe that's just the light. Or lack thereof. It seems to think that maybe if it doesn't move, you won't see it. Make a Perception Check.

Donovan pretends to not see the Bonsly at first, instead looking all around the frozen Pokemon " Huh, Mica, I could have sworn I just saw a second you" He says sounding entirely serious " It was crazy, just like a doppelganger or something, but I seem to have lost it" 6 on the Perception

"Oh, that's too bad... I would have really liked to meet another me!" Mica replied with cheerful obliviousness. "That little shrub looks nice though, it's the only thing with any color up here."

The Bonsly seems emboldened by the two steadfastly ignoring it, and begins to slowly inch its way further in the direction that it was running, seeming rather worried.
In the rock where it came from, Mica notices several small, rocky figures moving in the shadows, heading towards it with some purpose.

Mica swept her flashlight away from the Bonsly and towards the approaching shadows. "There's something coming from over there...oh!"

Revealed in the darkness by Mica's flashlight, creeping through the rocks, is what seems to be a short stubby-limbed rock, creeping towards the Bonsly. At the light shining over it, it turns towards Mica, blinking its two pure white eyes with some curiosity, before continuing to head to the Bonsly. The edges of the flashlight's beam show that there seems to be at least two or three more of the creatures climbing through the rock pile.

Donovan notices the Bonsly starting to move away and speaks loudly once more "Hmm it's really too bad. I think I saw it going that way" He swept his flashlight to point right around where the Rock type was before continuing "We'll have to keep an eye out"
With his other hand, he pulls out his Pokedex and points it towards the new Pokemon ahead of them

"I wonder what they want... What do you think Morganite?" Mica turned her flashlight on the Delta Bulbasaur, it's polished deep pink crystal sparkling and refracting the light. "Coming out at night was a great idea Donovan, I've never seen anything like these Pokemon before."

"Grownite," reads Donovan's Dex. "The Shard Eater Pokémon. Rare Pokémon, they tend to only appear around areas of high elemental energy. They eat rocks, and will slowly extract the energy from their food and release it as elemental stones. Given the choice, they much prefer stones, like shards, that are high in elemental energy."The Grownites continue to advance on the Bonsly, who's inching away from them, nervously glancing between the trainers and the other rocks. At least one of the stout stones looks at Morganite, next to Mica, with distinct hunger in its blank stare. Map

" Seems like they eat rocks and uhh.....excrete the energy as elemental stones. Or Something. And they like to eat shards" Donovan reads out as he flits his fingers across his pokeballs to try and decide which of his partners to release. Finally stopping on the Froakie they had met on the way to town, he stopped and flung the ball forward " Alright Amaryllis, time to shine in your first real fight. Protect the shrub, it reminds me of Mica" He follows up by moving forward and reaching his hand into his other pocket and taking a fistful of spores he had collected earlier in the day and throwing them towards the nearest Grownite, hoping to paralyze the Pokemon to make the rest of the fight easier. Amaryllis comes out looking a little confused before bouncing and ending up between the Grownite and the Bonsly and fired her tongue out at the Grownite, the appendage pulsating with a green energy as it attempted to leech back some of the rock types energy. Donovan releases Amaryllis the Froakie as he moves forward and uses Stun Spore with a 3 vs AC 6
Amaryllis uses Absorb with an 8 vs AC 2 for 22 special Grass Damage
Both on the Grownite on O6
Amaryllis has Initiative 11

"Oh no, they want to eat the Bonsly? I didn't know Pokemon did that..." Mica's stomach did a flip flop, but she forced herself to take a steadying breath. They were here, that meant they could do something about it! Discipline, she would be disciplined! "Come on Morganite, we don't want to hurt them, but we can't let them eat a Pokemon either." Mica and her pink companion neared the fray, the girl fishing an empty ball from her belt. "Here goes..."
Morganite closes his eyes, crystal shining bright as he unleashes his psychic power on the Grownite at F8. Mica throws a Pokeball at the Grownite at O6.

Morganite's attack doesn't seem to have any overt effect on the Grownite, the creature just pushing through the psychic wave unscathed. Donovan's thrown powder seems to be similarly ineffective, though in this case it's from the spores on even reaching the target. Amaryllis is more effective, striking at the rock and draining some energy, before Mica's able to make an incredible toss over the intervening boulder to land smack on the same Grownite, sucking it in and clicking shut. The other rocks aren't about to just roll over, though, as they keep pushing forwards. The one furthest away seems to become even more stonelike, hardening its surface, while the closer ones attack Mica and her Bulbasaur. Mica gets a face full of dirt and mud for her efforts, while Morganite gets slammed and pushed towards Donovan, though doesn't seem terribly shaken. The Bonsly, meanwhile, takes another cautious step away from the fighting, but seems to nervously look back and forth between everyone. It seems to panic slightly, and releases a cloud of spores from its green stones at Donovan, that look identical to the ones that he'd launched earlier at the Grownite. Unfortunately for him, these ones carry better, and he can feel the numbness they cause already spreading. Confusion misses. Donovan misses with Stun Spore. Amaryllis hits with Absorb. It's super effective! Mica caught a Pokémon! Mica takes 8 damage from Mud Slap, and has her accuracy lowered by 1. Morganite takes 18 damage from Tackle, and is pushed 2m. Grownite used Harden. Bonsly uses Copycat, and gains +1 Def CS. Bonsly uses Stun Spore, hitting Donovan. Donovan is Paralyzed.

Donovan inhaled the spores and felt his muscles seizing up, not exactly surprising since the same thing used to happen when he was worse at harvesting the pollen from his Pokemon. His initial response was to go after the Bonsly in revenge, but halted, knowing the little rock type was most likely just scared. " Armaryllis, go after the one that's right next to Mica, get it with another absorb!" The Froakie dodges down past Morganite before firing her tongue once more at the Grownite. Once the strike connected, Donovan reached into his pocket, pulled out an empty Pokeball, and let it loose on the Rock type. Absorb vs I 11
Ac 2 vs 10 for 19 special grass type damage
Pokeball on the same target
AC 6 vs 17 and 16 for the capture check...maybe less but I forget what I take off of it

With a burst of speed, Mica nudges Morganite out of the way of the tackle, taking the hit herself with a soft grunt. For something so porous these Grownites were surprisingly heavy! "S-Sorry Morganite, I won't let'em get you... your crystals aren't for licking and definitely not for biting." Mica huffed with some difficulty, trying to coordinate her efforts with the Pokemon once more.
(9 Damage from Tackle, pushed 2m. Morganite attacks the Grownite that hit Mica, and she attempts another capture.)

This time, Morganite's attack seems to connect, battering around the Grownite a bit, before Amaryllis' energy tongue drains it further. While Mica's ball goes wide, the grit still in her eyes, Donovan's hits, and the thing is swiftly sucked inside and sealed. While one Grownite decides to smack the impudent girl getting in the way of its meal, the other one sprays grit and dirt at the meal in question, scratching the crystals. The Bonsly seems a little confused that the thing that it sprayed powder at didn't even glance in its direction, and remains where it is. Grownite is hit by Confusion. Grownite takes an injury from Absorb. It's super effective! Donovan caught a Pokémon! Mica misses with her Pokéball. Mica takes 6 damage from Tackle and is pushed 2m. Morganite takes 10 damage from Mud-Slap, and takes -1 to Accuracy.

Mica attempts to smear some of the grit from her face, everything stings and is watery. These Pokemon weren't very nice aiming for the eyes like that, but Dusty did it too when she met him. "O-Okay Morganite... we'll try once more... keep it together!"

" Amaryllis, let's keep up the same routine! Move forward and hit the same one as Morganite did!" Donovans voice strained as his muscles contracted but he knew if he didn't overexert himself then he would be fine. Amaryllis moved a bit closer before firing off another Absorb at the Grownite that Morganite had hit before. Once she struck it, Donovan reared back and tossed another Pokeball, hoping his would strike true and they could take out another combatant. Amaryllis uses Absorb with a 9 vs AC 2 for 18 special grass damage.
Donovan throws a pokeball with a natural 20 vs ac 6 and a 3 for his capture check, before any modifiers cause I can never remember them

It seems to have grown into almost a routine now, with Morganite blasting the Grownite, followed by Amaryllis, before Donovanhits it dead on with a ball, causing it to seal shut almost immediately. This seems to make the last stone creature hesitate. It elects to kick up some more dirt and grit into Morgamite's eyes, before it begins to scurry backwards. This appears to embolden the Bonsly a little bit, as it seems less nervous now. Grownite is hit by Confusion. Grownite takes an injury from Absorb. It's super effective! Donovan caught a Pokémon! Mica misses with her ball. Morganite takes 12 damage from Mud-Slap, and takes -1 Accuracy.
