"Eh? Innocent lives? No spirits were in real danger here"
"He speaks of the human lives. Humans value each other's life"
"Ah, I see. Well that's irrelevant. These undergrounds have been our property long before the humans came, they've been our welcomed guests, and as guests, it's their responsibility to accommodate to our activities."
"Agreed. If you humans don't like the way we resolve conflict, or get popped so easily, then you are more than welcome to leave."

Mar stepped forward, fire in his eyes, ready to shout down these hypocrites, these HOOLIGANS-
Only for Lily to suddenly be in front of the stunned Spirit, her round eyes looking up at the huge fighters before her. She folded her arms, huffed and tapped her foot. And then she tried to focus--
Channeling the Conkeldurr and the Emboar!

Lilly's spiritual invasion of privacy failed on both creatures, leaving them even more offended at the attempt
"Child! How dare you try to invade my thoughts! Explain yourself immediatly!"
"Are all humans this rude? I can't believe we've tolerated them for so long"

She frowned, scared by their intense gaze and questions, shrinking away as Mar stepped in, looking with some concern at his charge for a moment. However, he'd been given a precious moment to take a deep breath and compose himself, and so:
"Watch yourself. She was just trying to talk to you. She doesn't... speak normally. No doubt she wanted to try and sort this out without any more violence... just, please give her the benefit of the doubt on this. Times change. These tunnels are yours yes, but they're now the humans' as much as yours. And if you think you can do what you want in this situation, I'm afraid you're very much mistaken. Because the humans, even though they can't see you - they'll notice something amiss, eventually. And trust me, your little fighting clans, if they find you out and decide they're better off without you? You aren't going to live here much longer. It's simply in your best interest to leave the humans alone and don't make yourself too obvious. I mean, come on. There's miles of tunnel down here and you pick the train for a fight?" He sighed and shook his head. "I get it, really, I do. But this isn't a good idea. Seriously, I mean it."

When the dust cleared and the two beasts were still standing, Amy tensed, this was going to be... great. She reached for the inner power inside her to cast more defensive spells when she noticed that the rest of the fighting types were staring at... them. Oh boy... this was going to be awesome. Amy winced as she imagined the beatdown that would happen next but... then something surprising happened. The two leaders turned around and addressed them? Amy paused in her focus. Wait... were they serious? They called them rude for attacking them? "... Wait, what. Are you serious? Are you joking? Because this isn't funny." She looked around briefly, glancing into each of their faces and finding only stony seriousness.
"You're... not kidding," Amy said, something bubbling up in her stomach, "What..." After a few moments she identified the bubbling feeling as frothing rage, "What?!" she let out in a shriek. "Are you fucking kidding me? You just knocked a train into a whole bunch of innocent bystanders! Bystanders who can't even see you by the way, so they don't even know to get out of the way! And you call our attacks unprovoked?! Tell that to the hundreds of people you just sent to the hospital! They were just standing there and your stupid fight sent tons of metal crashing down on their faces! Metal that isn't even yours by the way! The city of San Francisco paid to dig out these tunnels and maintain the train lines, so that stupid hunk of metal you're fighting over isn't even yours! You don't even know how many people you could have dragged into this spirit nonsense because of your recklessness!"
Amy breathed hard for several moments, her face red with anger. She heard Galvan laughing heavily behind her which checked her rage for just a moment. She put her hands together, using her focus techniques... She let in and out several deep breaths, letting the exploding anger settle down to a simmer instead. With her last deep breath, she pointed her clasped hands at the two. "Okay. So not only that, since you don't seem to care," she said with a snarl before doing another deep breath, "But someone should have talked to you about this. Keeping the balance is important. If you keep doing shit like this, you're going to alert literally all of the humans to the spirit world. Which would be bad. Haven't the Warlocks or the Onmyodo gone over this? There are billions of humans with all sorts of awful, deadly weaponry not even counting the powers you're going to give them if they find out. Honestly, you're going to be lucky to get out of here without some sort of bounty on your heads from the On- no, all of the big spirit organizations in San Francisco because of this little stunt. But, if you turn around, say sorry, and agree not to do this again, or at least not to do fights in the middle of a public train during rush hour where there are hundreds of people who can't see you... I'll agree to put in a good word for you. Or at least one that says I made a deal with you. Got it?"
Amy still had trouble not blowing up on them further, continuing to breathe in and out regularly so that she didn't scream. Galvan was still laughing behind her, which didn't help.

After Amy's thinly veiled treat of a bounty, the conkeldurr snapped its fingers, and suddenly, the most adorable little Riolu in the history of riolus eagerly trots across the damage, wielding some sort of tablet, and presenting an E-Document to Amy, which seems to declare the fighting groups as an independent party to the Spirit realm. The Riolu smiles from ear to ear and speaks
"Hi! I'm Conkeldurr's Squire! This document declares our organization as an independent party, one that in your human/spirit bureaucratic relations system, is protected by the clergy from interference from any outside human party. IE, we have diplomatic immunity, and should you or any other human choose to interfere with the organization in any way at all, your crops will be burned, children slaughtered, and we will parade the heads of your leaders in a masquerade of blood and carnage the likes of which you've never seen! So I must ask that you kindly mind your own business as we sort out who our new leader should be through the age old tradition of battle royale! Will you comply with these terms and conditions?"

Theodore was visibly shocked as the small blue canine read off the contract by which these spirits were apparently abiding.
"My apologies for interrupting your 'age old tradition of battle royale,' as it were, but you must try to understand. How would you feel if dozens of innocent spirits, who had done nothing to harm anyone, were hurt or potentially killed in a gang war between humans? You must try to understand where we are coming from and why we are trying to stop you from fighting here."

The tepig thinks for a minute
"The loud one does have a point. Despite their insignificance, their concern is at least legitimate"
the Conkeldurr scoffs
"How can anyone be concerned about the well being of humans? They're all so squishy and barely lift 450 kilograms."
"Be civil friend. They've been fairly polite thus far. All right loud one, I'll hear you out for a minute. As you know we are in debate over who should be the new leader. We would normally like to solve this with tradition, but it seems you lot take issue with that. How would you suggest we proceed?"

Mar tilted his head at that question, folding his arms. Lily, however, after peeking over the shoulder of Amy and nodding to herself, scurried back to Mar. He looked down, made some vague affirmation sound... and then Lily started to look at the two Pokemon quite thoughtfully.

"If I may, your clan appears to respect feats of strength and prowess, do they not? Seeing as you have already caused this station to be evacuated, may I suggest a weightlifting competition? This would allow you to prove your prowess, and would prevent any further damage to the area. And there are already weights right here!"
Theodore gestures to the destroyed train behind him.
"You just have to disconnect a few of the cars, and you have your weights! Who ever can lift the most, or if you both lift the same amount, for the longest, wins!"

Mar "listened" to the girl for some time. Nodding and hemming and hawing as he considered what she "said" to him. Eventually, he nodded in agreement. Pretty much everyone would realise that Lily hadn't said a single word throughout that exchange.
"...You know, I get why you think you own this place. You've been here for tens of thousands of years, according to Lily. She's Clergy, you know. Even as a junior member, she knows some things..." He tilted his head slightly. "She said that you're usually quite passive, hanging around training and things. She really wasn't expecting any of this to happen... I apologise for what she did earlier, she was... rattled and acted instinctively." He paused for a moment, choosing his next words carefully.
"...But you didn't tell them about this! Tsk, tsk. The Clergy always set up safe places for you as soon as you make them aware of this. They are on your side, after all. So what gives? Why the sudden upheaval? Why are you suddenly fighting wherever you please?" He finished with a rather pointed question, looking right at the two.

For the first time since the exchange, the two leaders had a quick twinge of fear in their expressions. It seemed that Lily being a clergy member was an unexpected happenstance, and filled them with a bit of guilt. As the two scrambled trying to come up with an excuse, the Riolu gleefully trotted up to Mar to respond
"Oh! My master had made the comment that he was getting concerned with how the fire fighting type spirits were starting to congregate, and feared that they may try to exclude the none fire fighting type from the group. Emboar was the original leader, but was challenged by Conkeldurr, and instead of discussing his concerns, he just said some insensitive comments about fire types, which made Emboar angry. They both argued like children, then the members started arguing, then they just started the battle royale completely foregoing all protocol! I was going to mention it later, but since none of this was a sanctioned battle royale, me and the other Squires weren't going to qualify the results! Regardless of who the victor was! And we were planning on having a LOOOOONG discussion with our masters about not letting their temper get the better of them! But it seems you beat us to it!"
Conkeldurr looks particularly embarrassed after the Riolu straight up rats him out. Emboar turns, shocked at the revelation
"That's what this was all about? You feared we were going to exclude you?"
"It . . . well it's more than just that, but . . . yes. It wouldn't be unheard of for one of our members to cut out a whole other section of the group because they're perceived as weak."
Emboar sighs
"This is ridiculous. We'd never get rid of you. If you had just talked to me we could have avoided this whole-"
"WE DON'T CARE!! IT'S TIME FOR CONKELDURR TO TAKE CONTROL!!"
A breloom shouts from the crowd. It seems other members of the lower members also want the challenge to continue, either to usurp the Emboar, or put the Conkeldurr in his place.

"Oh for. LISTEN UP, BOTH OF YOU! HERE'S AN IDEA! HOW ABOUT YOU TAKE THIS SOMEWHERE LESS IMMEDIATELY DAMAGING? I mean, I can't think of many WORSE places you could take this fight to if you must have it! Maybe some old depots or something? You don't have to fight immediately and the Clergy will be very upset if you don't take this elsewhere." Mar's patience is audibly beginning to thin at these shenanigans, but he keeps it together pretty well. "...Also, Lily says she hopes you can be friends again in the future."

Amy's lip curled at the intrusion of the pokemon and as she read the contract, her mood soured worse. That was fine and all, but the Clergy weren't here and they clearly failed to stop what happened... which was kind of the condition that made the Onmyodo allow them to do that in the first place. She was about to flip the tablet up in the thing's face before the other seekers around defused the situation and turned it around on the pokemon there instead. Huh, that girl was Clergy? She... well, maybe she did seem the type, being buddy buddy with spirits like that. Though her thoughts were interrupted by the spirits fighting amongst themselves, yelling and shouting... It was giving her a headache, she'd already had enough today and it was only late morning.
She clenched her teeth before she let out in a snarl, "Shut the fuck up!" The two big ones didn't seem to be a problem anymore, just the littler ones, including one grass thing that looked fairly familiar. She targeted it and pointed in its face. "Not only what that chick said," she begun, gesturing at the spirit that was following the Clergy girl around, "But it seems to me you're hiding behind your friend there. If your group values strength so much, why are you refusing to challenge the current leader yourself? That sounds a lot like plain cowardice to me. And if it is, I don't think you deserve to have any say over how this goes. So, shut up and sit down and let your friend who is actually brave and strong enough to fight things decide for himself."

The room is dead silent for a moment thanks to amy’s Intervention. The breloom that started the chanting, was caught in a blank stare into nothing. But, after a few beats of uncomfortable silence, the small creature’s eyes start to well up, leading to a full on bawling of the tiny grass type. As it’s cries below in the underground, it runs with open arms to the conkeldur, blubbering it’s grief once it finally get to the secure cradling comfort of its leaders bosom. The conkeldurr rocks the little creature gently, affirming it doesn’t need to worry about anything, he won’t let the scary human hurt him.
”Angry one, there is no need to yell at children. They are simply eager to participate in their clan’s traditions”
Emboar laughs heartily to the events that just unfolded
”I gotta say! It’s nice seeing a human with as much fire in its belly as me! You know what human? Just for that, I’ll offer you this.”
The emboar snaps it’s fingers, and orders a group of medicham and gal ladies to attend to the injured humans and cure them of their wounds. It would seem there will be no risk of fatality from today’s vents

Altair was quiet as he let the others argue and run their mouths. He wasn't noticed quite yet, so he and Edmond simply observed the crowd and their interactions with each other and how they viewed the big bad dueling spirits, who were apparently part of the same clan but one wanted to usurp the other. For rather understandable reasons -race relations, like he hasn't heard that one before a hundred times in his times on the street. His lip quirked up in amusement when one of the other humans in this argument even made someone cry after the two almost reached a diplomatic discussion before that same someone interrupted it with a call to harrass. He would be more empathetic normally, but these idiots did just crash a train into a train station and caused ungodly amounts of causalties -dead or alive who knows- and property damage. He then blinked when a team of weird Tibetan monk-like spirits started to go and patch up what (surprisingly) minor wounds they had from the crash. They looked a little leery of Edmond when he stared at them hard for going near Altair, but a minute shake of his head made them less hostile. While he was being patched up, he finally cleared his throat and spoke up, easily projecting his voice over the area with ease of practice and the acoustics of tunnels. "Alright. If you lot were still looking to discuss the position of leadership over with your fists, we can lead you over to wherever the Clergy's San Francisco headquarters are and you can have your battle there. Or, if for some reason you're reluctant to do that...." Altair glanced around the wreckage and the gathered fighters idly before looking back at the leaders. "You can do something akin to the contest like the other gentleman described. But instead of just mere weightlifting... how about something like, say, martial arts construction? Martial arts originated from more mundane things after all."He then raised a hand to forestall any possible outcries. "Fight to break and build at the same time. A leader must be able to create the foundations of ideals and goals for followers to be able to stand upon, so why not make it a little more literal...? Plus, I'm sure at least some of you would like to be able to use this station sometime in the near future. And hey, if this becomes a thing you can make and improve the most badass improvised coliseums around your turf... as long as it doesn't clog places like this. You could see the opportunities in that, can't you?" He hummed. "Just think of it as who can create the best future for one's clan, as symbolized by a building."

The two leaders look to each other, and seem to debate telepathically as to whether or not it would be a good idea. Conkeldurr turn a to his riolu
”What do the squires think?
Riolu taps through his tablet
”Well, it’s not typically how we change leaders, but then again, we’ve already broken at least 13 traditional rules on the way here. It would suffice as a physical and intellectual test, and we could finish this up in time to watch we bare bears so . . . We like it.”
With that, the leaders engage in a battle of construction! With their mighty strength they bend trains back into place, reconstruct rubble to be a subway ground, and re align electrical cable to put power back into the system. It’s almost as if the destruction never happened. Ultimately though, the Emboar had an advantage, being able to use his flames to meld metal together, and so, the squires deemed him victor. Conkeldurr’s followers didn’t seem pleased, but conkeldurr himself was graceful in defeat
“Well earned old friend. You certainly are a strong and wise leader.”
“Not as wide as I’d like to be. I can’t believe I never figured out I had excluded you and your followers so much. The firefighters are a proud group, there’s no doubt, but we’d be nothing without the help of everyone’s in the clan.”
The leaders shake, and turn to Altair
”Young woman, we owe you a debt of gratitude”
”Indeed. This new challenge you concocted will be a far more efficient way to run a king challenge. We’ll be sure to destroy and reconstruct trains for all our challenges now.”
