The story thus far:
Up and coming photographer Jackson "Flash" Cannon and his Pichu, Peeko met aspiring Pokémon Ranger Nero Hohenheim and his Budew, Kipos while traveling to the Axelon Region, better known as the Shady Isles. En route to Sunharbor Island, they witness an all white Dragonite appear from the ship and use a powerful Whirlpool on a giant whirlpool that would have surely destroyed the ship and everyone onboard. Amazed by the sight, they learn more about the Shady Isles from one of the ship's crew.
The region received its nickname due to the sudden and inexplicable appearance of strange cloud formations that have radically altered the landscape of parts of the islands. Sunharbor Island remains the only island unaffected by the clouds and any efforts to remove the clouds from the other islands have proven fruitless. The two also learn of a ranch on Sunharbor responsible for breeding the extraordinary Dragonite they saw.
Upon arriving in Sunharbor City, the boys find their way through the city to the Pokémon Hospital, largest of the Pokémon Centers in the city and home of the lab of Professor Basswood. After meeting Dr. Joy, the kind yet frightening receptionist of the Hospital, they were led down into the huge laboratory located beneath the hospital where they met the professor. He provided Nero and Jack with Pokédexes and Pokéballs, as well as information about the island and his research on the weather phenomena.
Once registered, the duo made their way to the Tech Family Ranch & Daycare located on the outskirts of town to learn more about the Dragonite. They learned that Thomas and Martha Tech, owners of the ranch, and their son Trevor raise all manner of Pokémon and that the Dragonite, Fluffy, was bred to calm the waters and skies that previously made travel to the region difficult for most. Due to Jack's up and coming fame as a photographer, the two were offered an opportunity to purchase an egg that would produce a Pokémon as amazing as Fluffy.
Satisfied with this explanation and a new goal to raise enough money, the two leave headed for the nearby Sunharbor Ranger Outpost...

Full of excitement with a new short term goal in mind Nero is trying to pull Jack toward the Ranger Outpost in Sunharbor. His Budew is hopping eagerly beside him, just feeding off of the energy of his trainer. "The Ranger Outpost should have all kinds of info about what pokemon they've seen on island, any dangers to avoid, as well as plant life and berries! Dad said a ranger outpost is always a good first stop whenever you visit a new place! They should also have some basic survival supplies for you, like a first aid kit, a mess kit, a tent. If you plan to go out and try to take pictures of pokemon in their natural habitat a ranger would probably be your best friend!"

Jack followed the excited child, nodding along as he watched Peeko running around, exploring the immediate area by the path. "That does sound helpful. We don't really have Pokemon Rangers in Alola, what is it that you all do?" He racked his brain on the subject, trying to recall anything he had heard about the organization. He grinned at Nero, "Well, I'm glad to have you around, kid! Friends are always a good thing!"

"Well, I'm not like, an official ranger. But they fight off poachers, help calm wild pokemon when they're being dangerous, and take care of the environment. Usually they only have one pokemon that they've captured, and that's their partner. They use a Styler to tame and calm wild pokemon temporarily if they need help, but this way it doesn't upset the ecosystem any more then normal." He smiles over at Kipos, "Dad said it's important to form a stronger bond with your partner as a ranger, because you and your partner have to be able to handle any situation, he said using the Styler should be a last resort. Dad's partner is a Parasect because he can usually restrain, calm, or just stop a pokemon without having to actually hurt it." He points to the ranger outpost, "We're almost there!"

After traveling along the fence of the ranch for another 5 minutes, the duo begin to cross into the forest. Trees loom on for as far as they can see. Walking for another minute, they see the large building labeled Pokémon Ranger Outpost. The stone and wooden structure seems to almost be a natural feature of the forest. As they approach, the sliding doors open smoothly and a Ranger smiles at them from behind a counter, her Loudred waving at the boys. Displays on either wall display maps and information about the island. "How may I help you two today?", she says.

Nero pops to attention and gives a quick salute, "Nero Hohenheim, my dad's a ranger in Almia named Auro Hohenheim." he drops the salute, "He said to make sure when I arrive here I check with the ranger outpost and copy some notes on my map about which areas might be the most dangerous, and any plants and berries that I might not know about. And this is Jack." He steps sideways to let Jack introduce himself.

Jack gave a respectful nod to the Ranger and a friendly wave to the Pokemon. "A pleasure to meet you, ma'am. Jack Cannon, from Alola. I"m here working on a project for Professor Kukui," He lifts his camera as if to explain the nature of the project. "We're studying Pokemon Moves and how they are effecting the environment. Nero said you'd be the place to go!"

The Ranger smiles to you both and returns the salute to Nero, Loudred following suit. She drops it and says, "So that's the adorable face behind the camera that took that photo." She gestures to her left where the boys see a poster of a Luxray bounding across a field with Jack's name in the bottom corner and 'RACE TO NEW DISCOVERY' across the top.
Looking at Nero, she says, "Well, Nero Hohenheim, I'm Crystal. I'd be more than happy to give you a layout of the island and places of interest." She walks around the counter and heads to the nearest display. She clicks on the MAP tab and a detailed display comes up. "As you can see, Sunharbor Island has a wide range of habitats. From Sunharbor City, we have the forest of course which goes on for miles until it reaches the mountains. Beyond the mountains, and the Pokémon Reclamation System, is the desert that makes up a good portion of the island. To the west of here, lies the Tech family estate. It features the widest variety of habitats on the island and is protected fiercely by them and the Pokémon that live there." She stops for a moment to look at the boys. "Do NOT trespass on their land, no matter how good a wildlife photographer you are. Beyond their land however, is a rather sizable jungle."

Nero jots down notes on the map and areas, drawing perimeter lines around marked zones and the Tech Family ranch. "What's the average day like here for a Ranger? Are there a lot of poachers here? I can't imagine it would be easy to smuggle pokemon off this island with the storms and stuff."

Jack blushes and rubs the back of his head with a grin, "Hehe, I remember that one! Those guys are so fast, it took days to get that shot." He looks over the map and at the mention of the Tech's, turns to Nero and says, "When we go back there, we should ask them about the different habitats. I'm sure we could both learn a lot." Jack turns to the Ranger, "I hear that there are a lot of strange weather conditions here. That's what I'm researching, you see. Kukui thinks it may be due to pokemon moves and abilities. What do you think?"

Crystal looks at Nero thoughtfully. "Well for me, I start the morning off by patrolling from here to this large lake 2 miles north. It's a gathering place for many of the Pokémon that live in the forest that need water." She gestures a little north of where you are. "Along this path, there is a swarm led by a Beedrill and Vespiquen that frequent the area. Careful not to upset them if you travel that way. Once I finish patrolling the lake I circle back here and watch over the station until I'm relieved by another Ranger. The others tend to travel in teams to the other regions of the island to patrol using Flying type Pokémon or teleporters like Abra. Those patrols can take a few hours due to the size of the areas."
Crystal changes the display and a silhouette of a man comes up and frowns. "Despite our vigilance, we do have issues with poachers on all the islands. Even with the turbulent weather, we can't figure out how they manage to travel between islands and out of the region undetected. If you come across one, please alert us. Any information you can get us, SAFELY, would be invaluable."

Looking to Jack, Crystal replies "I don't know much about the strange weather patterns on the other islands, but here on Sunharbor, it's almost always sunny. We have regular weather patterns, rain, and even snow on the mountaintops. The desert can be prone to sandstorms and the small town out that way, Sunscorch, is built alongside one of the few oasis in that area.

Nero nods, finishing his notes and closing his notepad. "Thank you Miss Crystal, Jack are you ready to go?" Nero heads for the door and waits there. "Wait, it's funny, we just met but we've just been travelling around together. Wanna stick together for awhile? At least until we get a better feel for this new place? Two is safer then one."

Jack nodded politely to Crystal and gave her a wave, "Thank you for all of your help, Ma'am," The tiny Pichu waved a paw as he followed Jack back over to Nero, "Heh, that is funny! Sure, having a travel buddy is always a good thing." He grinned, "I think we should head back to the city and find some work. Those eggs are pretty pricey, but I think they will be very helpful to us both. What do you think?"

Nero looks at his pokedex, and then his notebook, and nods. "Yeah that sounds like a good idea, Dad's not gunnu up my allowance THAT much," He chuckles. Giving a last wave and farewell to Crystal Nero and Kipos head out of the Outpost, looking at the city map to find the nearest jobs board so they can go on an adventure!

Checking the map, the boys see, aside from the Outpost, each Pokémon Center has a job board in the information kiosks. The closest Center is only 15 minutes away.

"Well, no reason not to head to the closest, right?" Nero starts making his way to said Pokemon center, barring any objections from Jack, to check for jobs.

Traveling back by the ranch they are greeted again by the wary looking Bouffalant. It snorts at the group and follows them along the fence until they reach the edge of the fence.
Entering the town, they make the quick trip to the Pokémon Center. Entering they see the main desk straight ahead. To the left, there are information kiosks and sleeping quarters. To the right, there's a small shop and the exit leading to the battlegrounds out back.

Jackson followed behind Nero, snapping a photo here and there in an attempt to capture the beauty this region held. Upon entering the PokemonCenter, he gave the nurse a friendly wave and strolled over to the information desk. After fiddling around with a few options, Jackson found the job listings and called Nero over. "Hey, which should we take?"

Nero looks through the list, there was one about helping an old lady find the pokemon she lost, right? That doesn't sound too hard. If it's domesticated it shouldn't be that far from her home."
