"That's okay, you did your best, and it was a really nice thought." Mica encouraged. "I can't climb, and that's okay." She wobbled back and forth on the grass, even sitting up was hard. "Hey but I can roll! I've never tried that before! If I hold my branch up maybe I can get some really good speed with a push? Or we could dance, or sing... o-or... you know... whatever you want to do?" There was a genuine certainty about the grass Pokemon that resonated pleasantly with Mica.
"I know its hard to believe, but outside we aren't actually of any type that you know of. Not Grass or Poison or Fighting or anything. We're something totally different. And that's why I think we can help, because we're something that wasn't around before." He looked at the Roserade with a smile, that quickly dropped when he mentioned Mica not being there.
He turned around, looking for where she had been just a moment before "She seemed really interested in that other Pokemon in the Garden, the one you called Esthia. She might have snuck back to talk to her"
"That is a little hard to believe, yes," the other admits, "Not in the least that you appeared from nothing..."
The Roserade mutters something that sounds fairly uncomplimentary when Donovan mentions where Mica possibly went, before sighing and saying "It's probably all right. She basically never wakes up with kids clambering over her all the time, so one more shouldn't really matter..." He sounds a little uncertain, though. "It's mostly just reflexive on my part, I suppose. She's one of the older ones here, and has earned her rest. Steadfastly refuses to move on, though... just stays rooted to that spot in the Garden, watching over the children."
"I, uh... I don't know," the Treeko admits, bashfully. "I've never really been asked what I want to do. I just usually end up watching others, and joining in what they're doing... Besides," she becomes a little more chipper, "You're the one who's upset. We should do something that makes you feel better!"
"You know," she adds, "You're really brave for even suggesting singing. I could never do that in front of everyone here..."
With another wriggle, Mica manages to regain her footing. "If you've got a song in your heart, it's really easy. You just share it with the people around you, and if you can find the words for it then you can give your voice to it too. Sometimes you can forget it, but the tune comes back eventually." Mica seemed in better spirits for the praise and took a deep breath, before settling into a tune.
Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry Sunshine on the water looks so lovely Sunshine almost always makes me high If I had a day that I could give you I'd give to you the day just like today If I had a song that I could sing for you I'd sing a song to make you feel this way Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry Sunshine on the water looks so lovely Sunshine almost always makes me high If I had a tale that I could tell you I'd tell a tale sure to make you smile If I had a wish that I could wish for you I'd make a wish for sunshine for all the while Sunshine on my shoulders makes me happy Sunshine in my eyes can make me cry Sunshine on the water looks so lovely Sunshine almost all the time makes me high Sunshine almost always
Her spirit was in the tune, and it was clear she felt the words, but lacking accompaniment and practice her performance wasn't close to as good as it could have been, though the effort was there. (3 Charm)
"Mica isn't exactly like the other children though. She means well, and is very sweet, but she can be a bit loud and stubborn. When she sets her mind on something, there's little that will deter her. And now her mind is set on talking to Esthia. But I am worried about her. She's not a Grass type like us, but a Rock type, I believe. She's been acting strange since we got here."
He began to walk towards the Garden "Please, if you don't mind I would like to collect her, and then we can go back to our conversation"
As Donovan and the Roserade re-enter the room, they can see that Mica already made it to the center of the room, where the tree is, and has begun to sing... a little off-key, admittedly, but it's singing nonetheless.
She's finished her tune by the time the other two have made it to her location. The reaction around is... fairly mixed to say the least, but the Treeko in front of her seems enthralled, giving a little bit of applause, the pads on its hands muffling the sounds a little.
"Alright, that's enough," the Roserade says, approaching Mica, gesturing back towards the entrance. "We weren't quite done our little ch-" He's suddenly cut off by a loud, continuous, creaking noise, coming from directly above. Coming from the tree.
The thick branches hanging from the side begin to straighten out and then arch towards the ceiling, smaller branches on the end flexing like fingers. The shaking extends up the trunk, towards the branches at the top, causing a fairly panicked exodus of the young Pokémon who were playing in it, most quickly making it out and hurrying away to a safe distance. Some, though, like Aliea, stand close around it, looking up agape.
The creaking and shaking seems to at last subside... and a single glowing red eye opens high in the trunk, which fixes unblinkingly on the group in front of it, including Mica and Donovan.
Mica sits dumbstruck as the massive tree undergoes an unexpected transformation, the Bomsly's mouth open in a small o of surprise. When she manages to speak, it is a soft 'Whoa... That's so cool!' This was way better then climbing trees, or singing, or rolling! "Oh hey Donovan!" She greeted him as though just realizing he had arrived. "Esthia must've liked my singing too, cause she's moving again!" She declared with a measure of personal pride. "Hi Miss Esthia!"
When the tree began to move, Donovan started to panic. Did Mica do this? Was it going to attack her? Before he realized what he was doing, he had placed his little body inbetween the tree and his friend.
"Mica, why did you run off? And what did you do" Donovan asks, his voice trembling with concern "Keeper, you said she's normally resting, right? Is she a morning person?"
The Roserade looks back and forth between the tree and Mica and Donovan, taking a step back. "I don't know," he says hurridly to Donovan, with some audible panic. "She's never woken up while I've been alive. I've just been told to try and not disturb her sleep, that she's been around long enough to earn it."
There's a few moments of silence so thick that you could cut it with a knife, before the tree's gaze fixes on Mica. A large horizontal crack opens in the trunk, like a mouth, inside which is inky blackness. From within emerges a sibilant whisper. "Youuuuu..." A branch-arm begins to reach towards Mica, clearly able to hold the Bonsly in one hand should she get Mica in her grasp. "I knowwww you haaaaave it..." It's soft, but still incredibly clear. Nobody else is speaking, or even really shuffling around or anything right now. "Give it to meeeeeee..."
Suddenly, both Donovan and Mica become acutely aware of the fact that in the 'sky', amongst the brilliant blue flowers, there are several deep crimson ones swiftly opening, spreading.
Donovan stood fast between Mica and the tree, though his legs were quivering "We can't give it to you!" His voice shook and he looked over at the Roserade "Keeper, how long has she been here? Has it been since the start? I think I might have an idea of where your Plate is"
He took a deep breath before yelling back at Mica "Mica, I need you to run as fast as you can and get away from here. This isn't gonna go well, especially not if she has a way to get it out of you. Get out and stay safe"
The Bonsly's eyeswere the size of saucers as that massive claw got closer and closer. "I'M SORRY!" She yelled up at Esthia as she turned and fled with all appropriate speed (Agility Training + Sprint). "IT'S NOT MINE TO GIVE TO YOU! IT BELONGS TO AKASHI AND ALLTHE PSYCHIC POKEMON THAT WANT A UNIFIED WORLD! A FREE WORLD! A SUNNY WORLD!"
Mica could move surprisingly quickly for such a heavy rock, though in her retreat she tripped over her own feet, she managed a full roll and continued onward!
"I have no idea," the Keeper says, "No one can remember a time when she wasn't here. So it cou-" He's cut off by a screech emanating from Esthia, as Mica begins to run away.
More and more flowers of all colours bloom in the 'sky', causing it to become a dizzying kaleidoscopic rainbow, petals opening and closing rapidly to create a constantly shifting array. And on the ground, the blanket of vines that covers the ground begins to writhe... and all over the room, tendrils that have suddenly grown vicious spikes shoot up, waving around menacingly. A good many of them shoot up to interlock over the door out, providing an impenetrable barrier.
"No. You will give it to me..." The whispers have become louder, but they are just as hissing. "I will unify them all. If you refuse. Then. You. Will. Die."
"No!" The Roserade cries from next to Donovan. "Everyone here is an innocent. Just... calm down. And we can talk it out."
"Oronis, is it...?" Esthia hisses. "While I rested, I still heard much. These from the outside... they have corrupted you. A Keeper. Everyone in here. I. Will. Protect. My. Tribe."
The Roserade's head petals droop in an act that Donovan recognizes as equalling a paling of the face in humans. Oronis turns to Donovan. "Help the children. Get out of here, if you can." He steels himself, the spines once again emerging from his flowers. "I'll do what I can to... convince her of reason. And, if that fails... fulfil my duty. Whether she wants it or not."
Another screech from Esthia sends most of the Grass-types huddling into groups, though a few, including Aliea, just stand still, frozen with fear.
Donovan shook his head, though that meant his whole body was shaking "Door is blocked. We aren't going anywhere until this is taken care of. I may not have my thorns yet, but I'm not gonna run and hide."
He looked around and saw the groups of kids standing in terror. Toddling over in front of the nearby Treeko, Donovan seems to grow in size as he calls out at Esthia "None of us are corrupted! We're trying to unify them just like you. But we can succeed! We can make sure these kids can see the sun"
His whole body shuddered, but not with fear. He looks at the giant form of Esthia with anger in his eyes and continues his tirade "You should be doing your best to protect their future like Oronis is! Instead you're trying to take it away. You're the corrupt one!"
"Listen to me!" Mica yelled as loud as she could, letting her voice carry to every corner of the garden. "I know you are scared, and you don't think there is anything you can do, but BE BRAVE! YOU ARE SIDE BY SIDE WITH YOUR FRIENDS! YOU HAVE A VOICE! EVEN IF ALL I CAN DO IS CRY, I WILL MAKE AN IMPACT!" She attempted to rally the other Pokemon, but her eyes are on Alisae, and the faintest quaver touches her voice. The bonsly swelled with a deep breath, and she planted her feet, shedding tears for how wrong everything had gone. And then she screamed.
It was a sorrowful, pained sound, the sort of emotion charged outcry that might make an aggressor second guess themselves. The power of it buffeted Esthia, and Mica took a few breaths before moving a little further from the tree, and nearer the exit. "EVERYONE FOLLOW ME! WE'LL GET THE ADULTS!"
Command 6, Fake Tears hits, if Esthia can lose CS, she loses 2 Special Defense Stages.
"You're crazy, kid," Oronis says, as Donovan stands his ground. "Get out of here." He growls the words at both of them as he dives for the tree, jabbing his petal-spikes into some of Esthia's roots, only to get a severe whack on his spine from a branch swinging around, though he swings up a hand to knick it with one of his spines, causing the tree to recoil afterward. "Both of you! Go!" Aliea doesn't seem to heed his words, though, still looking up at the massive tree, cowering behind the now-slightly-larger Donovan.
The other children seem a little bit shaken out of their fright at Mica's yelling. One, a Petilil, calls out, "But... what should we do? The door's blocked!" There's a scream next to her as one of the vines in the ground writhes closer to grab the Sewaddle there, the Pokémon crying out in pain as the vine starts to constrict on him. A similar scene plays out on the other side, with a Sunkern being grabbed out of the air, though a Hoppip manages to dodge a third vine from grabbing it.
Oronis hits with Poison Jab. Esthia hits with Feint Attack. A critical hit! Oronis uses Poison Point. Esthia is poisoned. Mica hits with Fake Tears. Esthia's Special Defense falls. The vines successfully Grapple Sewaddle and Sunkern, and miss Hoppip. Swaddle and Sunkern take two injuries each from Constrict.
"Keep each other safe, and head for the door! They're just vines, I'm made of tougher stuff!" Mica's attention turned to the wounded children. "Donovan! Enya taught us that the goal is more important then it's execution, we have to let Oronis fight and protect the kids!" Mica called to him as she went sprinting towards the Sewaddle. She caught a glimpse of a barrage of thorny thrusts from Oronis' Poison Jab attack, and made note to sketch it later.
"Come on Esthia you big jerk, I'm right here!"
(Mica chronicles Poison Jab for 1 AP, and Sprints as a standard action.)
"I may be crazy but I can't just run away and do nothing!" Donovan yells out to Oronis before turning back at the Treeko "I need you to run. Run to the door and hit it as hard as you can and bring back as many people as you can"
Then the big little Budew began to move towards the large gathering of little grass types, building himself up all the way, his eyes focused on Esthia with a glare "Keep your eyes on the prize you corrupt sapling!"
"You absolutely can, and you will," Oronis snaps, "Because while you may not necessarily belong here, I'll still not have your death on my hands. You have a dream, and that is the future." Much like Donovan, he grows in size a little bit... though still not matching anywhere close to the size of Esthia.
"I... I don't know how hard I can hit it. That's not something we're supposed to do!" Aliea squeaks, as Donovan runs off. She hesitates for a moment, before starting to run the other way, in the direction he told her to. Most of the other children remain frozen... until Esthia lobs a ball of ghostly flames at Donovan - which thankfully he's able to dodge out of the way of. "Oh, I have my eyes on the prize. In fact, she's going to be brought to me." She glances over towards Mica, where the vine previously wrapped around the Sewaddle has let go, and proceeds to slither around Mica, digging its thorns in.
Much to her pleasant surprise, Mica can barely feel the thorns on her... it's more like an annoying pebble in her shoe than anything. The Sunkern in the back, though, isn't so fortunate, and succumbs to unconsciousness from the constriction. Donovan notices that the vine isn't letting go... and also that the ball of fire that had missed him hit some vines... which are now going up in flames.
That, at least, seems to shake the Grass-types out of their stupor, and the ones nearest to the flame stare in panic before fleeing from the devouring blaze...
"These kids are also the future and I'm gonna help them get-MICA!" Donovan screamed out as the vine brought itself around his friend "ORONIS! Please don't let her get Mica. I have to help the kids that you can't get to. You can admonish me when this is all over, but I'm not running away. Not again!"
"I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF! I'M TIRED OF BULLIES! I AM A ROCK!" Mica began to thrash violently in the hold of the vines, throwing her weight around. The extensions of Esthia were not at all equipped to deal with the weight, the Bonsly smashing herself into the grass repeatedly around the point where the tendril had her leashed. "I CAN BE BEAUTIFUL!" Thud "I CAN BE HARD!" Slam "AND I'M GOING TO LAST NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS, AND COME OUT SHINING LIKE DIAMONDS!"
The Bonsly bit down on her vine, movements becoming ever more frenetic and wild, Mica seeming completely unfettered by the little bit of punishment she'd taken.

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Inbox is always open! Cheers! xx :)
Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
