"I don't think it's quite what you'll turn into. But I'll turn into the one I'm about to go talk to" Donovan says as he walks forward towards the Roserade
"Hello" Donovan says with a bit of a bow "This is quite the Garden. Are you the one in charge here? Or is it the uh...tree?" He sighed before smiling "I have to speak with an elder, preferably in private"

The Roserade glances down at Donovan, raising an eyebrow. "What an... unusual phrasing of a question," he says, slowly. "I take it that you are, somehow, not from around here." The smell coming from the Pokémon is strong, floral, and a little bit dizzying, especially combined with all the other flowers in the room.
"There is no need to bother Esthia with this right now, though," he says, glancing over at the tree. "But I do think that we should indeed have a discussion... outside." He makes a gesture with one of his arms towards the door that the pair had just entered from.

"Donovan..." Mica chided anxiously before doing as she was told, shuffling back out of the big open space and tried to compose her thoughts. This place with all it's green and growing things had her strangely on edge and she couldn't put a foot on it. She stared at the ground for a moment while the Roserade towered over the both of them. That overwhelming floral scent made her belly roll over.
"We know you haven't had visitors in a very, very long time." She began weakly. "Cause a long time ago there was this big clan war and there was a lot of distrust, so everyone kept their own plate and the world was divided into nineteen pieces." A shiver rolled through her little body. "We came from that nineteenth, a clan-less world that recovered from an apocalypse you were afraid of." Mica's eyes were wet and she felt sick.

Donovan moved between Mica and the Roserade "Mica here has the gist of it. We're here to try and fix that broken world. There's someone else, someone more sinister who is also coming after the Plates. Her name is Axiom and she already ravaged the Fighting types and took their Plate. We've been trying to warn as many as we can ever since"
He looked up at the larger Pokemon, his eyes resolute "So that's why we need to speak to an elder, or someone in charge. To warn them of Axiom and her plans"

"What... exactly is going on?" the Roserade asks, almost hissing. "The outside - at least, according to tales - is something that has been sealed off for generations upon generations. I know the legends. Passed down from those who knew them, before they were granted release into the dirt. None of them spoke of a ninteenth tribe. Even if your claims are true... how did you survive? And... how did you get in here?" His voice seems to shake some. "You are... different enough that I believe that you are not from here, especially you, now that I look closely," he gestures to Mica, "But... your story is still so unbelievable."

Donovan pushed Mica back a little bit while keeping eye contact with the Roserade "I don't know how everyone outside survived but they did. Life finds a way. But no there's no reason for everyone to be kept trapped in here anymore. We aren't one single tribe, not like the rest of you. We're a little bit of everything."
He shook his head "I'm still not sure why, but we're two of the only people capable of entering and exiting all the different Temples at the moment. We're doing whatever we can to make sure that everyone else gets the same freedom that we've had since birth. I want all of you to be able to feel the breeze of the wind and feel the sun upon your petals" His voice sounded wistful but his eyes never left the Roserades.

"Nobody on the outside believes we can be in here either, but we are." Mica added sadly at last. "This would be the third temple we have entered. The first had it's guardians killed by Axiom, and we got beat up by Madine, a Lucario, because she thought we were with Axiom. That was the fighting temple at a place we call Kanadairo. Axiom stole their plate.
"Then we travelled to the temple at Xalibu, and met a green bird with red, white, and black feathers named Akashi. He explained about the cataclysm and the plates, how you are all sealed away. He trusted us with the psychic plate, and asked that we speak to the other temples to save them from Axiom's attacks and create a unified world again. He said the plates were too powerful to let her get them all."

"Uh..." The Roserade seems to be trying to process exactly what the pair are talking about. "So... basically all your answers amount to 'I don't have an answer'. Great. How informative." The sarcasm is scathing. "But, since you seem to be focusing on it... start with actually explaining what in the world a 'plate' is. Because nobody around here's ever mentioned anything about it. Not even in the legends."

"The plate is the item that saved your clan from the cataclysm. It is what keeps the temple growing and all of you living without the light of the sun. Akashi wasn't very clear about what would happen when the plate was removed, he only assured us that the temple would be alright for awhile without it." Mica waited for Donovan to address the Roserade again, so that his attention shifted, and attempted to slip back into the garden to meet this Esthia.

Donovans eyes went wide when Mica mentioned that taking the Plate might cause the Temple to die, the tact she had been showing previously now entirely gone it seemed "It sounds like things here are different than the other Temples. They all had people who still remembered what it was like before they closed up, or were the ones who did the sealing. I can't speak for sure though. Like you, this is all pretty new to us, and we're working off of second hand information and trying to piece as much together as possible"
He finally broke eye contact with the Roserade for a second "We just want to help you all. I can't see another place fall victim to Axiom" He looked back at the Roserade "I promise, we're only trying to help"

Donovan
"They still had those who remembered?" The Roserade says, aghast. "But that... how? Even the most energetic of those here grow tired after seeing their grandchildren's grandchildren have grandchildren of their own. I cannot imagine waiting for all that time. I have granted release to enough of those who yearned for the sweet embrace of the earth to know that... nobody is forever. All that lives must die, to let other things live. Such is the cycle." He looks much more melancholic now.
Mica
Slipping away from the Roserade as he speaks to Donovan, Mica makes her way over past the children building towards the tree. While the way that the Roserade spoke about it made it seem as though it's a Pokémon... approaching it, it's all quiet, and there's no motion save for some small Pokémon swinging on and chasing each other around it.

Mica folded her legs under her and sat at the roots of the tree. "Miss Esthia?" No breeze moved the branches, nor did it seem ready to shift on it's own. The Bonsly stilled and waited after she called up to what might've been a Pokemon at one point. Why didn't she move? The Roserade had given her a name, did Pokemon name trees? Mica's head swam with that overwhelming floral scent, and her guts churned with anxiety.

Donovan hummed for a moment before speaking "I think they experience time differently than us. Grass types are much more in tune with life and nature. Fighting Types are too stubborn to accept it if they don't have to, and the Psychics were...enigmatic to say the least."
His eyes narrowed a little "But you said you have granted release to many? What do you mean by that?"

"What do you think it means?" the Roserade asks, a bit snappily, before looking around, as if to make sure that there are no young ears around. "Do I have to spell it out? When there are those who grow tired of living, they come to me to kill them." He flexes his arms, and sharp thorns emerge from his petals. "As a Poison type, I am able to make it quick and mostly painless. It is not something that I take relish in doing, but it is part of my duty as a Keeper. Does that satisfy your curiosity?"
Mica
The tree remains frustratingly silent and unresponsive, the only movement coming from the Pokémon clambering over and through its branches. One of those swings over to look curiously at Mica. It's a small, green bipedal lizard, about the same size as her. "Hello," she says, a little shyly. "My name is Aliea. What's yours? I've not seen you around before."

The Bonsly remained tipped forward, her feet the only thing from keeping her very round body from rolling all over the place, but her eyes gravitated towards the lizard. "My name's Mica, it's nice to meet you." There was a brief eye contact, then she looked up at Esthia again, and down at the grass. "I don't really belong here, but I want to, really, really bad."

Donovan looked down at the ground "I'm sorry. But I just want to understand how things work here. Just being in this place feels RIGHT to me, and so I want to understand it. It's so different than the other two I've been in, and all of its different then the outside where I'm from." He looks to the ground "I didn't mean to bring up anything uncomfortable. I just didn't know it was necessary. Where I come from, time is what takes people, they don't have to be....yeah."
He shifted nervously for a second before regaining his resolve "Is that what a Keeper is, or is there more to it?"

Donovan
"That is most of my duty," he says, "That, and remembering that which those who I must put to rest pass onto me, in preparation for me to pass onto others. But I also watch over our children. Though there are no dangers for them here, if thy need help, I'm here for them. They are our future."
"So... in the outside, beings perish with time?" the Roserade asks. "I wonder why that is. Is the air in the real outside toxic in some way?"
Mica
"Miiiiica," the Treeko repeats, rolling the word around in her mouth. "I like it. It's a pretty name. What do you mean that you don't belong here? Everyone belongs here. Beneath the branches, everyone is welcome to play. So why do you look so sad?" There's a concerned look on the lizard's face.

"When you get older..." Mica began quietly. "Sometimes you have to make difficult decisions because of responsibility." She couldn't help but think of the Roserade as she spoke, but didn't reference it. "I guess I'm sad because that time came when I got what I wanted more than anything, and now I can't even enjoy it." She finished her sojourn.
"That's not really important though, cause I'd be happy to play with you for awhile. I can't really do a lot without arms though."

"Maybe it's the air, or the water, or even the sunlight. I'm not really sure. But it's fine. Because like you said, no one really wants to live forever. Eventually it's just their time, and then they pass." Donovan says somberly
"You said they pass their knowledge onto you, but you don't know about the Plates. How much did they tell you about the last conflict, and before? I'm still trying to figure out exactly WHY the tribes went to war again and again. I'm hoping if I know what caused those wounds, I can heal them. Bring everyone back together. If that makes sense"

"I don't know about any 'last' conflict," the Roserade says, "only that there was constant strife between everyone, on and off, before the outside was lost to us. I couldn't tell you why. That is the problem with memory. Things are forgotten. Especially after so, so long..."
"You think that you could bring everyone together?" he asks, with some surprise, "That's a constant, throughout the stories. Always eighteen there were, and always eighteen there will be. Then again, your friend claimed that you were from a nineteenth... so, I don't know what to believe any more." He looks around. "Speaking of... where did she go?"
Mica
"Aw... I'm sorry that things didn't work out for you," Aliea says, "Can I help with anything?"
At Mica's comment about no arms, she gets a pensive look, and starts climbing the tree, before leaning off - with her feet still stuck to the trunk - and leans out towards Mica to pull her up. Unfortunately... she doesn't have anywhere near the strength to lift a Bonsly from such a precarious perch, and instead ends up pulling herself off the tree to tumble straight into Mica, knocking them both to the ground.
The Treeko seems dazed for a moment, before sitting up, laughing. "Sorry," she says, embarrassed, "You're a lot heavier than I thought..."
