Lucas starts feeling heavy with the sudden onset fatigue, the rising desire to drink from the pool not helping while he clutches his throbbing head. "So this is what happens. And the townspeople must have it way worse than this, with how much water they've had over months. How awful." Even as he says that, the boy finds himself stumbling and staggering towards the spring, though he manages to restrain himself from any other actions. The Taillow, not faring so hot, tries to flee from the slick and the electric creature that caused it so much pain. Though it flaps away from them, the Phantump it attacked earlier is now inconveniently in its way, and the Taillow settles for stopping for a moment to strike at it once more. Lucas: - Shift Action: Move to Q11 - Infatuation Save #1: 10 (fail)
Taillow: - Shift Action: Move to U8 - Standard Action: Peck against the Phantump * Accuracy Roll: 18 vs AC 2 * Damage Roll: 23 Flying Physical

"You'll not shrug off these toxins so easily..." Iga quipped, hurling another handful of poisonous spores at the watery mass. Beside him, Tsuchigumo loosed constrictive webbing in an attempt to slow the beast even as it took on even more power despite being taxed. "We've cornered it!"

Minion seemed to be moving faster than before and swung its leg low through the monster, much like the yellow beast had done to its master. " Yes, strike him like he made his necromantic creation strike me! Tear him apart!" The little warrior seemed to strike more ferociously than ever, channeling its rage and pain into it's strike. Superbia stared at the pond, moving closer to it before beginning to rip into it with his claws almost as if he was trying to bring it to his mouth, but he still had SOME of his judgement and thus just kept ripping into it. After a few seconds of this he seemed to regain his composure and took a few steps back, lowering his stance to be prepared for another attack like the water a few moments before. Superbia is using a swift action to use Brutal Training
Minion is using Low Kick and crits on a 17 for 63 Physical Fighting damage.
Superbia hits with an 18 against AC 2 for 22 Normal Physical damge and a Tick of HP
He is also cured of Infatuation

Once again, Iga's powder settles on the surface of the slime, sinking in, and dispersing toxins throughout the liquid. Minion's subsequent kick at it seems to shake up its form even more, causing some spatters to fly out... but it still holds together. And retaliates at the Timburr, once more firing the mental attack at the Pokémon, this time causing it to fall to the ground, out cold. The pseudopod snakes around to the goat-like creature this time, causing it to stand up, and ram itself into Lucas, causing him pain, but, more crucially, unbalancing him into the creature in front of him. Though he's still managing to stand upright, the creature pools around him. Though initially it feels painful, that's soon overwhelmed by the welcoming, cool, soothing sensation of the water as it laps around him. Really, it's right there... why not take a drink? It looks delicious, and his insides are starting to feel like they want to burn up from thirst. He could take a moment to just... cool off, right? Refresh himself. Maybe even just stay there forever. The Taillow's pecking seems to leave the stump on the ropes, but it's not finished yet. It retaliates by slamming itself into the bird, halting its momentum, and causing it to fall to the ground, much as Sera had. While the spider's attacks seem to do nearly nothing to the weakening ooze, Superbia's claws eviscerate a good portion of it, before it retaliates, summoning vines from its quadrupedal puppet to attack Superbia, before firing off another psychic assault, this time at Iga, the ninja feeling as if sharp steel is slicing directly into his brain. OR, at least, how he would imagine it would feel like, at least. That'd be a feeling you'd only feel once. Iga hits with Poison Powder. The Giant Slick is Poisoned. Phantump takes an injury from Peck. It's super effective! Minion hits with Low Kick. It's not very effective... Taillow takes 19 damage, an injury, and Faints from Tackle. Minion takes 39 damage, 2 injuries, and Faints from Psybeam. Lucas takes 18 damage from tackle, and is pushed 2m, into the Slick. He must make a DC 10 Focus check at the beginning of his next turn to avoid using his Shift Action to drink from the water. In addition, his Swim speed must be used while in the water. Spinarak hits with Constrict. Superbia hits with Wounding Strike. Iga takes 37 damage and 2 injuries from Psybeam. Superbia takes 22 damage and an injury from Vine Whip. Map

The leftover sting of being tackled is nothing compared to the torturous feeling of knowing that Lucas absolutely should not drink from the corrupted spring under any circumstances. His body and spirit tremble when faced the tantalization, but the boy's mind stays in control long enough to try and reject it, rebelling with a desperate shove before stumbling back to dry land. Even still, he cannot get far enough from the pool, and before the boy knows it, he is gulping down the sweet water from his palms. Lucas: - DC 10 Focus Check: 5 after Skill Monkey (second use of the day) and spending 1 AP with Instinctive Aptitude -> Fail - Standard Action: Struggle against the Giant Slick * Accuracy Roll: 21 vs AC 4 * Damage Roll: 10 Normal Physical * Free Action: Spending 1 AP to trigger Quick Gymnastics to shift 1m to P12 - Shift Action: Forced to drink water - Infatuation Check: 1 -> Fail

"I must retreat... I will carry on the fight from the shadows as I can-... Damn." Iga watched as Lucas seemed to be overcome by the monster, ingesting from it's body, his lip curled, and he hurled a handful of flashbombs at the creature and retreated. Tsuchigumo again set itself to screaming.

The delicious water helps to briefly soothe the burning within Lucas, but his body seems to protest that it isn't enough, as it begins to flare up again, more potent this time. His halfhearted attempt at attacking the slime seem to barely even register against it... what's even the point, really? As he backs away, Iga's light bomb seems to briefly disorient the ooze, long enough at least for him to evade the pseudopod it snaps at him, as well as the attack of the smaller stump as it comes from behind him. Rather than utilise any of the fallen bodies, though, the Slime seems to take a moment to just pause, and regenerate slightly, small chunks of gelatin regrowing...at least, until the spider's screech resonates at such a frequency, that the thing at last loses cohesion. The creature is no longer able to hold onto its form, sloshing back into the spring. All that remains is a rainbow sheen, which seems to bubble, and begin slowly dissipating into the air in a black steam, fading away. As it fades, so too, does Lucas' thirst... replaced by a wrenching feeling in his stomach as it fully sinks into his body exactly what it drank. The floating stump, at the monster's defeat, seems to come around to its senses, looking around before quickly fleeing off towards the forest. All is quiet, save for the slight hissing as the last of the monster continues to bubble away. Lucas is Poisoned. Lucas hits with Struggle. Iga hits with Confuse Ray. Phantump misses with Astonish. Giant Slick misses with Aqua Whip. Giant Slick triggers Defy Death to heal 1 injury and a tick of HP. Giant Slick snaps out of confusion. The Giant Slick Faints from Sonic Boom. Each take 150 EXP and a Milestone.

Superbia returned his Minion to his apple, before turning to Lucas and inspecting him "Are you alright Sir Albin? You ingested a lot of that thing." The demon was soaking wet from his combat with the monster, though some of his blood was mixed in as well. Turning his head, he looks over at Iga next "You also look like you've seen better days, Iga."
He held up a few red elixirs "I have these healing draughts if either of you need them, and some cloth infused with healing magicks. Let me know if you would like either"

"I'll trust myself with no beverage until the creature's death is a certainty." Iga retreated to the tree-line and slouched amidst the roots, away from the spring. Tsuchigumo screeched it's victory and made for his prone form. This was perhaps the moment the creature showed its true colors. The Yokai ever took advantage of humanity's weakness. To his (suspiciously concerned) surprise, it simply mounted his shoulder and sat with its abdomen in his view. It looked like a small, smiling face. Such a strange behavior.
The spider arched it's back, emitting a little 'scree', and Iga offered it a smile. "Well done...?" He congratulated questioningly.

Finally released from his maddeningly unquenchable thirst, Lucas feels his head spin as he shakily stands up, the sick feeling in his stomach not helping matters. Still, the masked boy stubbornly refuses the demon lord's offer of aid. "Don't... need it. I'll... be fine. Just... need a minute." Continuing to look ill, as well as being soaked right through and a little bruised, he shambles over to the fallen Taillow and kneels down, tapping it with a pokeball with only a mumble. "Sorry, Ta-" Lucas pauses for a moment, thinking about something carefully, then restarts his apology. "Sorry... Lazuli." Part of him whispers that becoming attached to the bird is wrong, but after making it fight in a battle that risked its life, he can't help but name it anyway.
Just wanting to rest for a moment, Lucas sits on the ground. A little uncomfortable in his wet attire, he first unties his mask and removes it... then suddenly, the full weight of consuming the spring water catches up to him, and the boy involuntarily retches to his side, though thankfully he hadn't eaten enough berries that morning to actually vomit anything before covering his mouth. Eventually, Lucas unsteadily lowers his hand, his face sickly pale but otherwise recovered from the fit.

As the trio tends to themselves in the aftermath of the fight, the spring slowly stops evaporating black steam, leaving naught but clean water rushing towards the town. Just looking at it gives the surety that all is right with the world. And with that thought in mind, the world begins to fade black, as new knowledge enters the minds of the three... With the destruction of the corruption at the spring, once more the darkness is held at bay. Rivertown is able to recover, and from its confines comes the next hero to drive back the evil threatening to emerge from the world. While the cycle may never truly end... at least for now, there is still hope for the people of this planet.End Chapter 1
