I must keep my heart light.
Io was between Rati and the squad of Marines, and thankfully the 'big guy' had drawn their commander's attention. Standing as they'd been, she knew it was only a matter of time before they became the center of attention. The stairs to the rooms above looked promising. Taking quite a risk of being shot, but hopefully she was convincing enough. "I will do what I can for you, good luck friend." She whispered into Io's ear while Malone and the boisterous but poor dancer verbally had it out.
Making a show of prancing towards the stairs, she hiked her skirts high enough that when she sprawled against the flight it suggestively flashed her garters. "Oooh... I hope a big strong Marine will show me his Justice~ Heehee~" With that, her silky legs disappeared behind the rest of her out of sight.

When the door burst open, C.C. was so caught by surprise that he nearly dropped his violin. "Great, now how am I going to come up with a crew?" His grip tightens around his bow as the marine speaks. Of course no one would suspect that the bow is his weapon. Weighing the pros and cons of trying to handle the situation himself, he quickly came to the conclusion that he didn't stand a chance in a head on collision. That and he couldn't risk anyone else getting caught in a scuffle.
He was a little more than surprised that the large fellow, who had been dancing jovially albeit with a complete lack of coordination, knew the marine. Sly. C.C. quite liked his attitude and even more so now that he had caused the marine's attention to shift. Maybe he could slowly approa...his thoughts were cut off by the words of the elegant dancer. Wait...was she serious? He didn't really believe that she would, but something about the way she spoke...he didn't really know her. For all he knew this could be normal for her, and it really wasn't his place to know.

"How on earth can the clientele be involved in the smuggling? This is Loguetown... it's essentially a tourist attraction. The clientele probably isn't consistent enough to be involved in anything" Aikan muttered mostly to himself.
He rubbed the back of his head, rather annoyed. He'd expected trouble after finding a crew for the Grand Line, not before! He didn't know this particular marine but he'd bet a denture that he'd zoom into him simply because of being a fishman.
Then the first of the dancers... Rati? Yeah, Rati. She decided to go ahead and try to seduce the Marine. Whether she was serious or just planned to shank him as soon as he got close, Aikan didn't know, but it seemed like a monumentally risky gambit.
"Uh... are you sure that's a good idea, R?" he said, giving this Malone guy another look. "He's named, or nicknamed Sly. That's not a good sign"

The officer, this "Sly", turns to regard the big man with an intense gaze. "Hmm..." As he seems to be racking his memory for Raul's face, trying to match it to some mental database, one of his men gives a salacious grin. "Heh, don't worry about the chickie sir, I'll take good care of her..." He gets three strides towards the stairs where Rati is displaying herself, before another gunshot rings out. The man shrieks in pain, grabbing at a chair as his leg crumbles beneath him. The officer doesn't even look away from Raul as he lowers the smoking pistol.
Even as the echoes of the shot fade, there's a series of sharp "thunk" sounds as razor-sharp leaves embed themselves like throwing knives in the wood of the staircase, pilling the hem of Rati's dress to the wall. A sharp-eyed Rowlett floats down from the rafters, turning its head in a full rotation as if to ask if anyone else plans to try to leave, a bandanna with the Marine logo on its back.
The Marine officer shakes his head. "Ah, now I recall where I heard your description. The failure. Couldn't take the pressures of being a true aspect of Justice as befits a Marine Captain and snapped. You're lucky that the Vice Admiral was lenient enough to simply have you removed from the Marines in disgrace rather than executed for striking a superior officer." The man doesn't even blink at the Marine he just shot, holstering his pistol and laying his hands on the hilt of his blade. Behind him the remaining four Marines are looking a bit less enthused about this mission, but form up, each of them with a pokemon at their feet.
"Now then, you can come quietly to be interrogated. Or you can be difficult and..." he taps the hilt of his sword meaningfully, "accidents may happen."

Raúl barely noticed when the shorter of the two women who had been dancing raced off to the stairs. Silently hoping she'd find some way to get herself safely out of this. Once she began trying to seduce the Marines Raúl's head jerked around. What was she crazy? Ancestors, he hoped she had some deep depths to her if this plan worked. Could turn awfully sour quick. As a Marine waltzed over to her he began to panic.
"Hey! Don't none of you put your justice anywhere near..."
The gunshot interrupted him quickly, bringing his head around just in time to see the Dartrix fall from the rafters. Well, the good news was there's was one Marine less he had to deck. Big groups could get tough quick and he wasn't sure how many of the patrons were inclined to get out of here like that. Bad news was the Marines really had the element surprise here. His fists clenched tight again as Malone began talking once more.
"Malone, your justice's worth about enough to toss down the head after I wipe myself with it. The only thing I regret about that day is my hand broke before Foss's face did. You and your Marines can take your accidents and shove off, I'm tired of dealing with worms like you."
In all likelihood that would do it, a small smile lit up his face. Maybe he'd get that Bar brawl after all.

Io didn't quite know what to expect when Rati told her she would do something. She sure didn't expect that, though perhaps she should have. Seeing her new friend in danger, Io quickly took stock of the situation once more. One of the marines was down, but the Rowlet was targeting Rati. 'Big guy' was about ready to start off a brawl as far as she could see. Time to do something before they ended up ruining this bar forever. Io's eyes lit up as she shed her hesitation. While no one was paying attention to her, she made a minute beckoning gesture to the fishman and the musician, followed by a small throwing motion and then activated one of the abilities granted to her by the Yami Yami no Mi. A cloud of pure Stygian darkness formed around her, consuming all light within a two meter radius. "Everyone listen up!" She shouted, "Run now, or suffer the marine's justice!" She hoped that would get the message across. The marines can't arrest anyone if there's no one to arrest, right? She then proceeded to run over to Rati, the cloud of darkness still around her, and tried to remove the feathers from her dress, or if that wasn't possible, rip the dress slightly - a travesty, but it was already ruined at this point -, as quickly as possible. "We need to get out of here!" Io urged, pulling Rati towards the nearest exit. Standard Action: World of Darkness
You create a zone of Shifting Darkness in a Burst 2 around you, which persists until the end of the encounter. All targets without Darkvision attacking from or i nto the Shifting Darkness receive a -3 penalty to Accuracy. You may count Shifting Darkness as complete darkness for the purposes of activating your Living Shadow. As a Static effect, you also gain the Darkvision Capability.

C.C. didn't have a plan. He didn't think the marines would come here. While he was piecing together the puzzle that was his escape route, a strange movement caught his eye. It was the girl, the one that was kind of intimidating. She was one step ahead of him and already had a plan. As the darkness gathered around her, C.C. looked around the room one last time. The big guy picking the fight with the marines. C.C. couldn't just leave him here.
Using the ensuing commotion, C.C. ran to the big guy and tried to reason with him. "We need to get out of here. Use this..." he said gesturing to the smokey darkness "as cover. Run today, live to fight another day." C.C. ran after the girl, hoping he hadn't wasted his opportunity to get out. He didn't look back to see if the big guy had taken his advice.

Aikan's eyes went wide when the darkness started falling and he made a mad dash for it, trying to go in the direction of Io and the gang based on sound. He only had a few seconds until his bioluminiscent spots started making him a target, so he had to make the most of it.
"Ey big guy, book it! This ain't the place for a fight!"

"I'm with you!" Rati agreed readily as Io took her hand. The both of them would have been stuck groping in the darkness if her new friend didn't navigate it with such assuredness. A flash through the window to her left followed by the crash of thunder showed her the way. With a snapping motion she struck the glass with both palms.

His fists relaxed slightly as the man with the violin ran up to him, desperately trying to get him to run. Looking back he saw some sort of shroud of darkness and people making their way out of the bar. Well, he hoped that they'd make good their escape. Now it really looked like none of them were going to fight. Which meant five against one. While he was itching for a fight those odds didn't encourage him. When the Fishman ran past him trying to get him to run Raúl decided that he would be better off following. Turning he began heading for the ball of darkness. On his way there he grabbed a table and tipped, interposing it between himself and the Marines in an attempt to at least slow them down. He bellows one last quip before plunging into the darkness and blindly heading for the nearest exit.
"I'll have to introduce you to my fist later. Gwahahahaha!"

The sudden eruption of darkness and shadow throws the Marines in confusion even as the officer tries to take control of the situation. But the words and actions of the few brave enough to move seem to ignite a spirit of rebellion in a number of patrons. Several bulky dockhands bumrush the Marines with impromptu weapons of tankards and glass bottles. There's crashes and sounds of pain and confusion as the men's mon, mostly Rattata and other common dock mon leap into the fray as well.
Raul starts a trend, more tables being flipped or even thrown at the Marines and the officer in an attempt to drive them out of the bar; giving those feeling less like conflict the chance to slipthrough the darkness, slam into a wall and follow a breeze leading to a back alley. The wait staff are already making tracks, as is the barkeep carrying what looks like the strongbox from the bar.
There's the sound of shouting, ringing bells and pounding feet coming from further up the street. Most of the patrons are apparently locals, melting away one way or another, leaving the five of you with two ways to go. Circle the island, heading towards Gold Hatcher's execution platform and away from the noise, or towards the docks.

Io turned to the others now that they were out of the bar. "I don't know about you, but I think it might be a good time to leave this island, unless someone here is local, in which case you might be able to hide away. Actually even if you are a local. Since we did the most in there and basically incited rebellion, we'll probably be remembered and searched for. I don't suppose one of you conveniently has a ship and wouldn't mind taking me?" Io grins a little.

After his headlong rush through the darkness, banging his feet and shins enough times to regret rushing, Raúl found his way to a place where a window had been broken. Squeezing himself through he emerged into an alley where he saw most of the others who had been drawn to the musician. The taller of the two women was talking, as he brushed fragments of glass off of his shirt he listened. Straitening himself he decided to let this group in on a bit of what he knew about the situation here.
"Getting off the island would be a fine idea but you're going to have an angry Malone and his boss Samuel Carne on your heels. We've all insulted them and are fugitives in their mind. Gotta say I'm definitely the one they'll remember most but I doubt that Malone will forget any of us. The Marine's will be after us in a tick, both on the island and afterward."
Taking a moment to walk over to where the group was mostly congregated he continued.
"Here's the thing, I doubt this sting was as legal and proper as Malone was letting on. From what I've heard Carne and another Marine by the name of Rembrandt Perl are duking it out for a promotion, some sort of fool contest to arrest the most Pirates. I think Perl might like the hear that Carne's goons are rounding up random citizens on flimsy pretexts. It might give him enough ammunition to take down Carne, or at least slow him down enough for us to grab a ship and get out of here quiet like. At least quietly enough to not have several ships hot on our heels."
Stretching his neck and cracking his knuckles in a fluid movement he finished with one final statement.
"I doubt I'd be able to pull this off without help so I'll leave it up to you all. Make for the ship and be looking over our shoulder for the next couple of weeks or take that bastard and his flunky down?"

Rati quietly examined the holes in her skirt. That ploy would have worked if there hadn't been a CO on location, she'd gotten a man shot! Not distraught, but certainly unhappy with the course of events, she considered Raul and Io's words carefully. They could certainly try to make a power play. "Make a man lose enough face, and he'll follow you to the ends of the earth, Marine or not. Better a few lone embittered souls then an entire military, though." She shuffled her bare feet along the stones, her sandals left behind in the bar.
"Let's tell this Rembrandt about Malone's actions. At worst it's a gentler arrest then we'll get otherwise, and our friend gets put in his place anyway... Are you going to be okay though?" Rati addressed the fishman directly finally. "I know your kind aren't well liked in most circles, if we are aiming to be a 'group' now, then this affects you the most."

Io considers the new plan for a short while. She seemed to be seeing things from a different perspective. "You have a point about being chased, but honestly, I think I'd rather face Sly and whatever forces he has at a later time and place, than here in Loguetown. The whole island is under marine control, so they would have an easy time getting reinforcements." She shrugs. "I'm willing to take the risk of talking to a different marine if you are, though I think we're just as likely to get arrested by the other guy, maybe even more so now that they have a reason to search for us. Would be a nice way to get one over his opponent, whose operation we messed up." She puts her arms in the air at shoulder height, in the universal expression for 'I don't know'. "You all seem nice, if you want to do this, I won't abandon any of you." Io then realizes she doesn't even know the names of most of the group. "Since we seem to be in this together, I think introductions are in order!" She surreptitiously looked around to make sure no one was listening in.
The warrior gives an exaggerated bow towards everyone. "I'm Io Eventide, might I know your names?" This is obviously more aimed at big guy, the fishman and the musician, but she included her surname this time, as she felt safe enough to share this.

Aikan had been mostly silent, his brain racing a mile a minute as he tried to figure a way out of this mess. Rati's question drew him out of his musings and reminded him of the very sour reality.
"I probably ain't gonna get no gentle arrest, no matter how much information I volunteer. Knowing the marines, I'd get saddled with this whole mess plus the smuggling charges or whatever"
Aikan scratched at the sash at his waist, which covered is Eco tattoo.
"Add the fact that when Malone came in we were all relatively together, and there's probably not way of salvaging the situation for any of us. Is Rembrandt even clean? Because I'd rather not walk myself into slavery or prison. And fighting here in Loguetown is going on a losing battle. I'd rather bet my odds on a battlefield of my choosing"
He shrugged, signifying he'd stick around either way.
"Though for all this talk of running... do we even have a ship? Because if we don't, fighting to get a ship sounds really nice right 'bout now"
Once Io had given her bow (which Aikan returned ever so slightly, just to try and not seem impolite in the face of unknown customs), the fishman seemed to take a few seconds considering whether giving his name was worth it before answering.
"I'm Aikan" he said, choosing not to mention the Elberg name in case someone was listening and put two and two together.

C.C. ponders the suggested options. I suppose I don't feel strongly either way, but I'll follow whatever decision we come to. To be honest, I'm just glad to be a part of a group, though the sooner we find a ship the better."
C.C. looks at each of the others as they introduce themselves, trying to commit their names to memory. He doubted his surname would mean much to the others. "I'm Cecilio, Cecilio Mendini. You can call me C.C. Pleased to make your acquaintances." He takes a grand bow placing his left arm across his chest and his right arm outstretched.

Raúl listened as everyone gave their opinions on the current situation and introduced themselves. After everyone was done he continued.
"The name's Raúl, nice to meet you all."
With a quick nod of his head, he kept going.
"I feel as if Aikan's worry is pretty valid here, I have no clue what would happen if you got captured. But if we just leave at this point the Marine's are going to be after you anyway. You might even net yourself a bounty. I'm fairly certain Perl is on the up and up, he was personally trained by my old Captain, Stolk. Who was about as stand up a man as I've ever served under, the kind who is fair and tries to actually help people. Carne was trained by what I'd call the worst, Selwyn Foss. So while I can't guarantee that Perl is as stand up a guy as Stolk was I'm pretty sure about it. Also, no I don't have a ship. Do any of you? Who know's what's going on at the docks right now."

"Rati Shudra, though this is perhaps not the best place or time for names." Her tone was soft but kept weight of concern to it. "Aikan will be safe provided he can make the shoreline, certainly easier and less criminal then hijacking what is likely to be marine property."
At that she glanced over her shoulder. "I can perhaps arrange transport, but we would need a place to lie low and I know of none. Better we make for the docks then the Marine headquarters with no means to distinguish on soldier from another."

"I'll take the promise of transport over fighting to get a marine ship or some other poor sod's frigate, yeah" said Aikan. "Probably don't need people recognizing us because of the ship either"
The fishman shrugged.
"Even if we do end up stealing a boat, going to the docks and laying low for a while still feels like a decent plan"
