Vincent Roth made his way back from Mega Island dejectedly. The League had been cancelled and the power of Fusion would not be attained quite so easily anymore. Still Vincent was hopeful if he trained hard enough with Calypso, his Zoroark, he would eventually reach the level of power that Gardari has displayed.
With this in mind he started to travel the land with his Pokemon challenging powerful Trainers left and right. Eventually, and he's not quite sure how, he stumbled upon this Arena. Here he was going to make his debut and fight to gain power once more.
Vincent Roth accepts challengers with one Pokemon for 1v1 battles in Mega Evolution forms.
The battles will be League battles.
In League-Sanctioned combat:
Trainers declare actions, from slowest Trainer to fastest, then execute those actions from fastest to slowest. Pokémon move after Trainer actions have resolved, from fastest to slowest.
Trainers are limited in what actions they can take, i.e. League Legal actions, as listed on p.440 of the Core Rulebook. This includes the use of healing items such as Potions, though a Pokémon’s held items are perfectly fine.
There may only be one Pokémon per Trainer on the field, unless the match is a variant battle.
Battles are over when a Trainer runs out of conscious Pokémon, or surrenders.
Vincent stands across from his first opponent, Calypso disguised as a Mega Infernape. He is facing Nikolas Henan, brother to Gardari. Vincent finds the irony that his first opponent would be the brother of the man he is aiming to surpass in power, truly hilarious.
After the Mega League was cancelled Nikolas was angry, but decided that he didn't need it. He'd unlock Fusion all on his own, he didn't need the Mega League and he certainly didn't need Gardari... After a while Nikolas heard a rumor about an arena where some of the most powerful trainers are said to meet. Not one to back down from a challenge Nikolas and Faye went as fast as they could. Nikolas soon found out who his opponent would be. The name sounded familiar but he all he could remember is that he is a gym leader, and he believes he's from Hoenn. He's not sure what pokemon he specializes in as Hoenn was third on the list, after Johto, so Nikolas hadn't done any preparation for the Hoenn league.
Nikolas stands across from Vincent the next step in his quest to become the Hoenn League Champion. Seeing it's a Mega Infernape Nikolas doesn't even flinch, he remembers his fight against Mega Charizard and takes a deep breath. "Alright Faye, move in a little and use Toxic!"
Hearing Nikolas command his Pokemon to use Toxic, Vincent thought quickly. The Pokemon he and Calypso were facing was a Vileplume. That meant using Toxic themselves was a bad move. "Calypso, intercept it and use Taunt, then blind it! Follow that up with Hone Claws into Aerial Ace!" The commands were spoken quickly and firmly.
Calypso, hearing her partner's words quickly acted, rushing forward with great speed. She stopped right in front of the Grass-type and proceeded to laugh at it, giving it taunting looks. The plan was to enrage the other Pokemon and cause it to use damaging attacks rather than status inflicting ones.
After taunting Faye, she instantly switched to a crouching position, scooping up some sand from the ground, before tossing this in the dual typed Pokemon's face.
Without waiting to see whether the sand hit its mark, she then proceeded to coat her claws in energy, boosting the power of the attack that followed immediately, Aerial Ace. With great effort at the amount of tasks she had had to carry out in only few seconds, she pulled back her arm before raking her claws through Faye's body in a brutal attack.
Vincent uses Brutal Training and Focused Training as a standard action.
Calypso uses Taunt. The target becomes Enraged. AC3 vs N0XQp43h1d20+1
Vincent spends 1 AP for Stacked Deck: Next time Faye passes her save check, she is Tripped and Slowed.
Vincent spends 1 AP for Trickster: Calypso uses the Blind Dirty Trick Maneuver. She and the opponent make Stealth checks, if Calypso wins Faye is Blinded, taking -6 to Accuracy. Calypso's Stealth: 6d6+4
Vincent activates the Devious Feature as Free Action. Calypso may immediately use a Dark Type Status Move as Free Action.
Nikolas binds 2 AP and activates Sunlight Within and Critical Moment as a Standard Action.
Faye has +3 Accuracy, +3 Critical Hit Range, +3 Effect Range, and +6 to Skill Checks.
Nikolas activates Enduring Bloom. Faye gains 16 Temporary HP, and +1 Combat Stage in Special Attack.
Faye Activates Flower Gift as a Free Action and gains +2 Combat Stages in Special Attack.
Faye Actives Forewarn as a Free Action: The Move with the highest Damage Dice Roll known by the targeted foe is revealed. If there is a tie, all tied Moves are revealed. The Moves revealed gain a -2 Penalty during Accuracy Checks when used by the target for the rest of the encounter.
Faye trades in her Black Sludge Digestion Buff, for the rest of the encounter at the beginning of her turn she gains 1/8 Max HP.
Faye Activates Life Force as a Swift Action. She gains 1 tick of health and gains 1 tick at the beginning of her turn for the next 4 turns.
Faye uses Moonblast. Ranged/Special Fairy Type. 1d20+3 vs. AC 2 Damage: 3d8+68
Vincent blanched at Nikolas' Command. Perhaps he should have chosen more wisely when picking a Pokemon for Calypso to impersonate. "Calypso, don't get hit by that! Try to dodge!" The sand she had thrown into the living plant's eyes must have done the trick because her aim was off just enough for Calypso to jump out of the way.
"Great job!" Vincent shouted, elated they had evaded what would have been an painful blast of Fairy type energy. "Now get back in there and confuse it with Torment. Blind it again, then Hone Claws into Aerial Ace again! Try to avoid getting hit by return attacks!" He sounded demanding, but the grin he wore took any possible bite out of the commands.
Calypso grinned mirroring her trainer, the two acting and feeling in sync. She dashed back into melee range, where she said something, which Vincent got the feeling was vaguely insulting but also quite random. She had picked up another claw full of sand as she went. She threw this at Faye, then took a moment to coat her claws in even more energy, before once again slashing at the living plant's dark body.
Seeing Faye keep her calm Nikolas said, "Come on Faye, let's hit with a Toxic!"
Faye took another deep breath, this certainly wasn't a Mega Charizard but it was difficult nonetheless. She knew if she stuck to Nikolas' plans they would win, they'd always won as long as they had faith in each other.
Faye heard the pokemon say something but wasn't sure what. The confusion and uncertainty of what was said was making it hard for Faye to concentrate as she launched her powerful Toxic at her opponent.
Vincent swears under his breath. He should have commanded Calypso to enrage Faye again, but he had figured he was safe. Now Calypso was poisoned. That turned this battle into a race against time. They had to bring that Vileplume down, and fast. With that in mind, Vincent gave his commands. "Calypso enough messing around, use double Aerial Aces, now! "
Calypso hearing the anxiety in Vincent's voice rushed to obey. She had taken some minor injuries as the Vileplume sprayed some sort of substance around, but she shrugged that off. The poison wasn't quite too damaging yet either. She got into Faye's face and slashed twice with her claws, sweat beginning to be absorbed by her fur, making it slick in some places at the exertion.
Nikolas bit his lip, Faye was down to her last bit of health, it was now or never. Faye needed to heal and fast. She didn't have time to stop and regenerate and Hyper Drain wouldn't do anything, there was only one move left he could turn to... He yelled "Hang in there Faye and give him a taste of your Drain Punch!"
Faye, reeling from that last attack, focused as her body began to close some of the wounds. She knew she could definitely not take another hit like that but she couldn't afford to stop to regenerate. She reeled back her arm and give everything she had into this punch. It's not much but it would be a start...
At the mention of Drain Punch Vincent narrowed his eyes. That move was super-effective against Calypso, not that Nikolas realized that. Seeing Calypso dodge it swiftly brought relief to him. It looked like the battle wouldn't get even more drawn out. From what he could see in Nikolas' mannerisms and from the way he told his partner to "hang in there," Vincent assumed that Faye was close to going down. That was great news for him.
"Calypso use Hone Claws into Aerial Ace once more!" He shouted agitatedly. If that could finish this bout, Vincent would be one step closer to getting stronger. Strong enough to beat Sidney of the Elite Four and strong enough to use Fusion.
Calypso was starting to look slightly haggard. She was breathing heavily, since even though she wasn't hurt badly, she had been doing rapid attacks and maneuvers in tiny time windows. There was no way she could be fighting that way much longer, which was why this one strike was so important. She had maybe one more double action in her and Calypso knew that too which is why a determined gleam shone in her eyes as she first dodged the Vileplumes blow and then pulled back her claws for what would hopefully be a devastating attack. Perhaps even enough to finish the Vileplume off.
Vincent pumped his right fist in victorious happiness, before he toned down a little. He grinned over at Nikolas, "That was a great battle, Calypso really pushed herself to win. I got really worried when you got her with that Toxic," he laughed a little.
Ah this was what Vincent had loved about being a Gym Leader and what he had looked forward to on Mega Island. Having great battles against Trainers of all shapes and sizes and asserting their dominance over them one by one. It sounded mean, but Vincent wanted to be the number one trainer in Hoenn and this was the way to do it.
As the battle was over and no one but the contenders were watching, Calypso released her illusion, revealing herself as a victorious, but rather sweaty looking Zoroark.
"Well, I'll see you around Nikolas Henan." Vincent said before leaving the battle field for now. He would be ready when the next challenger came.
Nikolas returned Faye to her ball. "It's alright you did your best, just means we need more training." As he saw it transform into a Zoroark his eyes widened. "So that's why you hadn't used any fire moves, if that Drain Punch had connected...oh well. And I'm sure we'll see each other again. If I'm not mistaken you have a badge that I'm going to need one of these days."

Hi there! I'm Seya, a 24 y.o. editor in Atlantic Canada. I enjoy writing, reading, webcomics, art, worldbuilding, and video games (I can talk for ages about SotC and Monster Hunter...). Although I'm relatively new to playing Pokémon Tabletop via forum, I've been putting together sites like this for a long time, and I'm really excited to work with you all to create an awesome environment for Pokémon roleplay. While my job here is primarily to keep the site running smoothly, I'm always happy to chat, offer advice, and deal with any problems you run across. Let me know if I can be of any help. Hello! I'm Sly, the East Coast mod representative! I'm a 22 year old tax accountant who is exactly as exciting as that sounds, I'm sure. PTU is my major hobby, I run several games (of which the Geode games are my pet project), and I read a disgusting amount of fanfiction. I've been a member of the community for about a year, consider myself more GM material than player material, and am dedicated to helping make your time here enjoyable! If there's ever anything you need, don't be afraid to send me an owl! (Or a PM, I guess, if that works better for you.)
Hey there! I’m DataNinja, the West Coast representative. I'm the most active Staff member on here, so if you need something, try giving me a poke first, and I'll see if I can help sort out your problem. Always happy to help!
(1 May 2015): "For our first pack, we’re focusing on utility character options. Hopefully, this will give you both interesting insights into our dev process as we make changes over time and another focused avenue to give us feedback on what you’d like to see out of PTU."
People are out there, yes, but if you're looking for a game, sorry to say that things seem to be winding down overall. There's basically been... 3 games in the last 2 years, none of which got off the ground.

It's very slow, yes. You'll probably finish working on your game before one pops up here, and if you create a recruitment for it you can expect to be swarmed with applicants.

New games seem to open up slowly here, but if new people are still welcome, I don't mind waiting around (or working on my own). It looks like there's some useful stuff to browse in the meantime.

Keep an eye on the recruitment area of this website. They're rare nowadays, but any new games that crop up will show up there. If it's a live game you want though, you're outta luck.

Basically, GMs post recruitments in the appropriate section, and then players apply to the open games. Unfortunately, there has been a rather... small amount of games posted lately, but there's one currently recruiting right now.
