A flash of light. The feel of restraints. A heavy metal collar around your neck. Words, floating on a screen piercing through your confusion. A sharp prick on your neck. And then darkness, once more. These are the last memories that hang in your mind.
Slowly, the light begins to return. As your eyes flicker open, they find themselves staring up at a blood-red sky. A blue sun hangs above, and you can already feel your skin begin to burn. As you slowly sit up, you can feel the granules beneath your hands. Waves lap on the shore in a calming fashion. As you look around, it comes to your attention that you are trapped on a small island, a perfect circle with a radius of 10 feet. It also comes to your attention that there's another person staring at you who appears to have woken up at the same time you have. Two red and white beach chairs sit on the island, a beach ball lazily rolling around in the slight breeze. As your eyes adjust to the light, you realize that there is something fundamentally wrong here. The sands are pure white, far whiter than any natural sands could be. The ocean surrounding is a deep forest green. Just where exactly are you?
Nykole, Marshall, your journey begins here.

To be honest Nykole hasn't been more scared in her entire life and that's saying something when you see a guy grow a horse body out of his butt and you wonder if that's gonna happen to you not to mention all the danger and suspense that comes with the life of a cat burglar. For the moment she had thought she had finally been caught be it by cops, or one of her bosses rivals, or worse. Just her luck it had to be the third one... This was all so strange and happening so fast it's understandable that she'd be a little frantic and on edge... hell it'd be understandable if she had a flat out panic attack... but she didn't last this long not being able to keep it relatively together when the chips were down, and push came to shove. As such she wasted no time trying to clear her head and get on her feet once her vision started to return the white sand between her fingers was the first clue something was strange then the blue sun, the red sky, the green sea, the sparse beach lounging gear... its like something out of a loopy pulp scifi novel She thought as she checked herself and took a quick inventory of anything on her person all they'd need to complete the set up is an attractive member of the opposite sex to pair with the seemingly alien girl such as mysel- its at this moment she realizes that she isn't alone here and that there's a strange man on the beach... This stranger would soon find Nykole staring at him with wide cautious eyes her feline ears back, her tail straight, her fur up on ends and her posture on all fours like a cat ready to dart at the slightest movement despite there being no apparent place to go other than into the strange green water.(which isn't exactly true since she can easily leviate over it though with no destination in mind...) "w-who are you!? wh-where are we!? w-what's all this about!?" she rattles off scared and confused asking the obvious questions as she immediately tries to read the man's mind not wanting to risk him lying to her. Marshall awoke again in captivity for who knows which time. The thought to pray to his gods came, as per every day, but then he noticed the entirety of the different surroundings - not only was he not in a dungeon, he was seemingly outside, but in a place where everything is oddly colored. Not too keen on an indoor voice, he shouted "What is this place?! Is this another one of their tricks? A red sky..." He remembered the prophecy, eyes widening. Some had said that the skies will turn red and fall down on them, among many others - is that what was happening? 'Had we lost and now the God of Destruction is erasing it all? That cannot be! I can still keep fighting!'Only now did he process that someone had said something, along with a feeling of someone lightly pressing into their head, which he assumed to be the woman's presence. Turning to face her, he opened his mouth to talk, but then stopped. The crusader seemed confused, raising an eyebrow and taking in the picture of a woman with cat like features, on all fours like a cat against a dog, with a collar - not one person had said anything about that. 'Is she some sort of pet? I hope she is not some heretic...' he thought, before noticing the extra weight on his own neck, moving a hand to it. 'If she is a pet, it would seem that so am I.' And he wasn't having any of it. Sparing a moment to clear his throat, he said "I am Marshall Bash of Columnia! Now tell me, miss, who are you?" before attempting to tug at the collar as hard as he could with his weakened body for a while, to no avail. He'd have asked the same questions she had, but if she asked, that clearly meant that she didn't know. Focus roll for resistance: xNQsMsUP4d6 4d6

Nykole winced as her telepathy was rebuffed which of course made her suspicious of the man. The word Columbia didn't mean anything to her, and she couldn't trust his expressions of surprise, but she supposed they at least needed names to call each other by... "You can just call me nyko for now" she starts cautiously before realizing she's sprawled our on all fours like a cat. She quickly shoots up and flails her arms a bit until her footings stable again "ahem... If you expect me to believe that surprised routine of yours then I'd need you to let me into your head so that I can read your thoughts" she says directly trying and failing to look unphased.

Nykole, except for the removal of obvious weapons or tools that would be used to escape, plus the addition of a fancy new collar around your neck, nothing seems out of the ordinary on your self. You do hear a light jingle though... and realize it's coming from underneath your collar. Hey! That other man doesn't have a bell on his collar, why do you?
You also notice that while whatever is underneath your feet certainly is granular, it isn't sand. It's something... else.

I really hope this isn't ground bones or drugs or something twisted like tha-*jingle* "H-HEY!" She exclaims with a shocked gasp as her train of thought is interrupted by the discovery of this collar bell and it's exclusivity to her. She felt absolutely humiliated having this dangling around her neck and blushes deeply as she immediately grasps the bell and tries to rip it off the collar (she's not so dumb as to futiley try the sturdy collar itself) "I'm not a cat!!!" Marshall chuckled at the catgirl's antics, although narrowed his eyes suspiciously for a moment at how little she was sharing. Upon hearing the whole mind-reading thing, though, he could come to the conclusion that she simply didn't trust him, which was understandable, although in general, the magic-less crusader was, quite frankly, even more confused now. "'Let you into my head'...? 'Read my thoughts'? Do you mean that you wish to know me better?" Beating a fist against his chest, he exclaimed Whatever the case, I swear that I, as a crusader of the gods of our Columnia, do not lie or pretend! To do so would dishonor them all greatly!" On the part of tugging on the bell, however, he laughed, stating "Although you most certainly look like one!" Should she fail at getting it off, he would attempt to step close, stating "Here, allow me." before pulling at the bell with one hand and holding the collar with the other. Not like there's much else to do here right now. Not as far as he could see, not looking around at this moment.

The bell comes off with a small crack in Marshall's hand. It gives a muted tink! as it snaps. Congratulations Marshall, you now have a cat bell. It seems rather high quality, and you notice you can't quite see what was inside it. Maybe there's something interesting?
Nyko, as the bell snaps, you tumble backwards onto your back. As you do so, your hand hits the surf with a wet smack. Weird, you didn't think you were that close to the ocean... wait a minute. Is the island... shrinking?

As her tugging proves futile Nyko becomes more upset and desperate and this guy laughing at her isn't helping things. "It's not funny" She pouts as she turns away allowing the crusader to get close because she wasn't paying attention. A combination of surprise and hope then stuns Nykole as she finds marshal in her face trying to pry the bell off for her. She blushes her deepest shade yet and nervously tenses and fidgets as his close proximity makes her very consciously aware of just how much cleavage she's showing, but otherwise she lets him do his thing hoping he really can separate her from this embarrassing icon until the bell unexpectedly does indeed pop off and she tumbles backwards.
"Mraow!" Surprised by the wetness she then feels Nyko springs right back up... and stays up... she's floating in the air now. "O-Ok I think we can drop the mind reading for a bit I think we have more pressing concerns does this sandbar if this is even really sand seem smaller to you?" She says noting that their island seems to be shrinking "Oh mother of yarn is this even water!?" She then exclaims as she realizes her hair, and catsuit gloves, sleeves, and back have touched the green surf, and she desperately tries to figure out what the "H-E-double broom sticks" she's just been dipped into.

Marshall could understand a woman's modesty, yet at the same time, he didn't. He could understand covering herself to the same point he would if he dropped his pants somehow, by childish prank or otherwise, but she was as clothed as she was the entire time. 'Why is she blushing so? Is it shyness?' At the same time, now that he got a closer look, he considered her apparel more - in addition to how lightly she was clothed, to which he could simply assume her to be a scout or something, either not needing any thicker clothing because of the weather or having it taken in the same way he lost his armaments, what she wore looked most certainly like no garment he had seen before. Speaking of things he had not seen before, the cat-woman flung herself into the air and he watched... And watched, dumbfounded, as she didn't fall, looking around for anything that could keep her suspended. Poor Marshall, not knowing of magic in any way, other than the divine kind his Gods presumably used. "...W-what is this trickery?" He must be dreaming, but alas, if he really was, everything felt more real than it needed to be. And if he was, he supposed playing along here would be better than waking up in his cell again. Although that, as well as the following unique wording, although he understood the meaning, left him still confused, making him awkwardly try to hold out the bell (or what remained of it after he tore it off) for Nyko to take. "I won't need this - do... Whatever with it." Should she not take it, he would just dump it on the 'sand', not checking what was in it. Regardless of the event, he dipped his other hand into the water, letting his rusty chain mail's sleeve lightly touch it, as well. If this thing were to sink entirely, he'd have to swim and it would help to know what he would be swimming through in such an event. Perception to notice... Well, anything in the water, really. Or close to it. 65tetnqd2d6 2d6

"Now's not the time for a crash course in the magic of bio-psionics... as for the bell... juuuust... stuff it in whatever pocket you think it'll fit in I kinda got something on my hands at the moment..." Nyko says still distracted by the liquid on her gloves as she floats essentially prone at eye level with marshal.

Bio-psionics? What? Marshall's time with this woman just kept getting weirder and weirder. Still, having other things to worry about, already being confused to the point that he wouldn't know what to ask first and looking around for pockets on the form-fitting garment, having a thought to just throw it in wherever before deciding that that would most likely be a poor idea, he eventually crammed it into the closest actual pocket he could see.

Nyko, whatever this mysterious liquid is, you're in luck! It doesn't immediately burn your skin down to the bone. Unfortunately, you have a hard time recognizing it. You've never encountered it before, whatever it is. What you do know is that it is extremely sticky and extremely viscous. You feel like if you were to fall in it, it would be like drowning in pudding. Very uncomfortable pudding. However, as you think of the pudding analogy, something else suddenly locks into your mind. This isn't sand, it's sugar. Sweet! Oh wait, sugar dissolves rather quickly, doesn't it.... ****!
Marshall, you start trying to examine the water, but your eyes wander and you distracted as you notice a dribble of the green liquid slides down Nyko's neck towards her... ehm, assets.

"errr... ok so this island must be made of sugar or something that's why it's shrinking it's basically dissolving in the water... well I'm still not exactly sure what this is but water's gotta be part of it and I'm pretty sure it's sticky cause of the sugar... hey are you listening!?" Nyko says as the green dibble slides between her breasts "None of this makes any damn sense why is this even happening!? are we supposed to do something or do they just sadistically expect us to drown in a pool of pudding?" she worries fearing for her life for a moment before sighing "*sigh* can't really do anything if they wanted us dead... I guess for now we can only try and figure out what game they're playing and play along... Ok check everything maybe there's some sort of clue or something, and in case we die... my name's Nykole Gatos... from Drakeboil... so I guess we are even on introductions..." Marshall's eyes inadvertently move to a less desirable location, making him turn his head back to the pudding and close his eyes. 'Why are my eyes moving there?! To ogle a woman in any way would be unfitting of a crusader of the gods of Columnia!' Still, he heard most of what she said. Regardless, he cannot allow himself to look upon her now, confusing as even the land she hailed from was, in the sense that he never heard of it. "Well met, Nykole, however we will not die! Not to sweets! Here, allow me to show you the strength the Gods have granted me!" Shortly, he dived right into the sticky pudding-water, swimming through it or, at the very least, trying to. Nykole, as you examine the bell, something catches your eye. The bell itself isn't very interesting, made of a soft, yellowish metal, but inside, something glimmers. From what you can see, inside the bell is a small light blue crystal with a pink core. Now what could that be? You're about to examine it further, before the gung-ho man next to you dives into the green liquid surrounding. You don't think that liquid is very easy to swim in... and as you ponder that, you suddenly realize something. The parts of your body that touched the liquid? They're starting to feel numb...
Marshall, you dive into the liquid without a care in the world, and sudden discover that things with the consistency of pudding probably shouldn't be swam in. Luckily, you're able to keep yourself upright, but you find yourself slowly sinking. Perhaps you should head back towards land. Just maybe.

Nyko sighs when the man jumps in the water oh well at least he seems harmless she thinks not thinking much of any danger right away after all the sand was just sugar so why should the water be any more dangerous it could easily kill them by attrition already. It's then that she realizes the numbing sensation around her well... cleavage... "oh... kitty litter..."
"The sea's a numbing brew! You need to get back to shore now!" She calls out reaching out to the man with her mind and pulling him back to their shrinking island with all the force she can muster (but not directly at herself she's not dumb enough to throw gooey numbing projectiles at herself)

Even Marshall wasn't entirely sure what he was thinking when he just up and dived without checking anything about the water when he could've simply inspected what was on the island - all he could think of was to stop himself from sinning, even if it was accidental. Regardless, what happened happened and he quickly made his way back to the island with the disorienting, invisible help of Nyko, then boasting as he initially did. "You see? This water is nothing to a crusader!"But then he heard of the numbing brew. He heard of various things that his enemies in Ordinus have created and used against them, including liquids that put one to sleep, lit on fire immediately and more. Considering that, he also considered that this could, in fact, be set up entirely by them, to take out their worst enemies. 'But they will not succeed.' While he positioned himself close to a chair in case it somehow becomes too strong for him to stand, looking over it, he continued to boast "Whatever may be in that water, we will not fall to this devious trap!"Perception of chair comfort. "Yeah you're a big strong crusader impressive and all! Now take your clothes off before you get to numb to move I don't want to have to do it for you!" Nyko says as she frantically tries to tie up her gooey hair "and when that's done roll around in the sand hopefully the sugar will make the goo you are covered in it clump or something and minimize your exposure to it thereby minimizing the dosage" She adds panicking a bit and already unceremoniously kicking off her shoes and unzipping her catsuit peeling it off with urgency hopefully before enough of the viscous liquid can seep through to paralyze her. not wearing undies because it was too humid out great plan nyko... she thinks as she finally pulls her legs out and kicks the cat suit and gloves into the middle of the island hoping to have a chance to salvage them later and replacing her boots the now sole article of clothing she had left back on her feet. "d-don't look o-or get any idea's.. I just value my keeping motor skills in dangerous situations ok!? n-now I think I found a clue or something with this bell try not to seize up before I figure it out" She says crossing her arms and tucking her tail up between her legs for some semblance of modesty as she telekinetically lifts and tries to peel the soft yellow metal of the bell open with her mind and examine the contents inside. Marshall, as you sit down on the chair, you realized slightly too late that these chairs have been made to collapse. As such, you collapse to the ground in a pile of broken chair. Well that wasn't very nice... looking at them however, you think you may be able to make an improvised weapon out of one of the metal rods. Why you would need a weapon, you don't know, but it's always nice to have your hands on something. Also, you suddenly begin to feel the numbing effect all over your body. While it doesn't seem to be knocking you unconscious, it's rather difficult to feel anything... (Please roll focus checks with all your actions for the near future.)
Nyko, you take some rather... drastic measures to avoid being numbed, but better safe than sorry, right? You very easily rip apart the small bell, and out pops a tiny crystal, light blue in color with a pink core. As for what to do with this crystal? You're not entirely sure, but you know time is of the essence. You only have 2/3rd's of your island left. You get a distinct feeling that something on this island doesn't match the rest of what you've been given, but as for what that is? You can't quite put your finger on it.
